A/N I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING! I ONLY OWN THIS PLOT! I'm so sorry for the wait! Here is the next chapter!
A few weeks went by, and things started to get better. Gabriella was starting to open up and trust the other girls including Mitchie. She was actually starting to have fun. Ever since they spoke to the police Axel had backed off. It was almost like things were actually getting back to normal.
The one and only problem was that there was still no place for Gabriella to go after Camp Rock was over.
The Child Services caseworker in charge was very picky and was finding something with all the Wildcats. Gabriella was getting scared.
One afternoon Gabriella was headed to one of her classes when she stopped frozen in her tracks. Axel was headed toward her. She gulped and looked around trying to find a place to run and hide.
"Don't bother running. I'll just follow you." Axel said.
Gabriella felt that weight on her chest that she usually got when Axel was near her. She started to shake and breathe heavy.
"You called the police on me. Bold choice, considering that means you'll wind up in foster care."
Gabriella didn't speak….she couldn't speak.
"You'll never see Troy again. You'll never see any of your friends again. Troy will get another girlfriend, maybe some pretty blond."
Gabriella's breathing got heavier and heavier until she was all but gasping for air. Her shaking had turned to trembling, and her heart was beating out of her chest.
"But I guess you know all that because otherwise you wouldn't have called the police."
"Speaking of Police there is a restraining order out against you," Connie said as she walked over to them. "You could go to jail just for standing here talking to her."
"I'm just warning my daughter about the consequences of her actions. She told the Police about me, and now she has to deal with the fallout. It's her own fault."
With that, Axel turned to leave. Connie turned Gabriella to face her. "Breathe now, Gabriella. He's gone. You're safe. Take some deep breaths and breathe."
Gabriella slowly started to calm down.
"There you go; that's better. Would you like me to take you to Troy?"
Gabriella nodded.
"Let's go." Connie took her hand and gently lead her to one of the classes. "Wait here."
Connie went inside, and a few seconds later Troy came running out. He pulled Gabriella into a hug. "It's ok, Baby. It's ok. I'm here; you're safe. Shhhh."
Gabriella clung to him tightly and calmed down fully. "Thank you." She said to Connie.
"You're welcome." Connie smiled gently and walked away.
"Wait, has there been any news?" Gabriella asked.
"No, I'm sorry. But I promise those things Axel said to you will not come true. They are all lies."
Gabriella just nodded. Camp was almost over and still she had no idea where she was going after.
"Don't worry, Brie. I promise we will figure something out. I won't let you go without a fight."
After Connie had walked away, she took out her phone and dialed a number.
"Hello?"
"Steve? It's me. I need to talk to you about something…."
Before she ended her phone call, she went in search of Mitchie.
She found Mitchie with Shane over by the water.
"Mitchie, can I talk to you about something?" Connie asked.
"Sure Mom. Be right back."
Mitchie stood from her towel with Shane and went over to her mother. "What's going on."
"I have your Dad on speaker there is something we need to discuss as a family."
"Does this have anything to do with the move?" Mitchie asked.
"Yes. Look, your dad got a job offer this job offer is in New Mexico Albuquerque."
"That's where Gabriella lives," Mitchie said.
"Yes. Which leads us to our next question? How would you feel if we adopted Gabriella? That way she can stay close to her friends and normal life back home."
Mitchie's eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. "Yes! Yes! A million times yes! I already love Gabriella like a sister. This would just seal the deal."
"You're sure?"
"Yes!" Mitchie squealed.
"Ok, Steve and I both agree it's the best idea. But please Mitchie do not say a word about this to Gabriella. Not yet."
"Why not?" Mitchie asked.
"The woman assigned to find her a family is very picky and if she finds one thing wrong with a family she crosses them off her list. I don't want to get Gabriella's hopes up until I know for sure we would be allowed to take her in."
"I understand. Gabriella is losing hope fast. That might just hurt her more."
Connie nodded. "So this stays between our family only, ok?"
"I can't tell Shane? He won't tell."
"If you can trust he won't say a word you can tell ONLY Shane."
"I promise."
"Ok, now go on back to your date. I'll meet you in the kitchen in about an hour for lunch."
"Thanks, Mom, Love you, Daddy," Mitchie said.
"Love you too, Honey, have fun."
Mitchie ran back off toward Shane.
"Honey, this is a great idea and everything, I'm sure it would make Mitchie happy but what about Gabriella?"
"What do you mean? We won't adopt her unless she wants us to."
"No, I mean, she was abused by both her parents, she's going to have a hard time trusting us."
"As she should. We're strangers to her. But she we will work hard to earn her trust. So will very shy towards us for a while, but then she will trust us just like she does her friends and Troy."
"I hope so."
"Don't worry. Everything is going to work out."
A Connie hung up she couldn't help but sigh…"I hope."
A few days later everyone was enjoying some free time by the water. Connie had allowed them to eat lunch outside, so they were having a picnic.
"I'm certainly going to miss your cooking, Mitchie," Troy said. "Any chance you can come live with me and cook for me all the time?"
Mitchie blushed but smiled. "Sorry, but nope."
"Awww." Troy pouted, and Gabriella giggled.
"It's hard to believe Camp is almost over. Final Jame is in two weeks." Shane said.
"I know. It went by so fast." Mitchie said. "Gabriella do you have plans for the Final Jam?"
"Troy and I are going to sing a duet," Gabriella said. "We've been practicing."
"Can we hear it?" Mitchie asked.
"Nope, not until final jam."
"Please, please, please, please!" Mitchie begged.
Gabriella giggled. "No."
"Please, I really want to hear you sing, you never let us," Mitchie said.
"Actually there is a song I can sing," Gabriella said.
"Do you need me?" Troy asked.
"No, this is a song I need to do by myself," Gabriella said. She inhaled and exhaled a deep breath. "This is a song I'm dedicated to you girls, I hope you get the message."
Mitchie handed Gabriella her guitar and after tuning it Gabriella started to play and then started to sing.
I trust you with my tears
and my secrets never told
I trust you with my hopes and fears
and this hand I hold
I know you'll be true to me
whenever were apart
in a world filled with uncertainty
I trust you, I trust you with my heart
I've been holding back so long
afraid to give it all
looking for a place to land
trying not to fall
you showed me how to give
let me take my time
wishing somehow we'll just know, but we'll never fight
I trust you with my tears
and my secrets never told
I trust you with my hopes and fears
and this hand I hold
I know you'll be true to me
whenever were apart
in a world filled with uncertainty
I trust you, I trust you with my heart
the time is here and now
may it never end
and as each day goes down
let love start again
I trust you with my tears
and my stories never told
I trust you with my hopes and fears
and this hand I hold
I know you'll be true to me
whenever we're apart
in a world filled with uncertainty
I trust you, I trust you with my heart
I trust you with my heart
I trust you
When Gabriella was finished, Mitchie had tears in her eyes along with the rest of the girls.
"Gabriella, that was beautiful." Mitchie cried.
"I didn't write it or anything, but it felt like the right song to use."
"It doesn't matter; it came from the heart. Thank you."
"You're welcome."
They two of them shared a hug and Mitchie couldn't help but smile widely. Since Gabriella trusted her, it would make the adoption process so much easier. But would she and her family be able to adopt Gabriella or would her Case Worker find something wrong with them?
