(With Howl)

Days have passed since Bronté's kidnapping, Howl and Sophie had organised a search in the mountains, with the princes help of course. However, while the princes men search all of the known mountains, Howl and Sophie was going to search one very special mountain.

"So what's so special about the mountain again?" asked Sophie, as they were back in the castle, heading towards it. Howl sat down,

"this mountain is where Suliman trained me, I was the type of pupil that didn't learn in a class room. I spent most of my childhood in that mountain, and I believe that she is there because the mountain itself is surrounded in magic. It has the power to make a portal" he said. Sophie looked down,

"Howl, what if we are wrong about this, what if they're not there and Bronté is dead?" she cried, Howl walked over to his wife and embraced her,

"no, she isn't dead, Bronté is too strong for that, besides she might have already been rescued" he smiled, Sophie looked up and frowned,

"what do you mean?" she asked.

"The mountain isn't the only magic thing in the area. It is known to have a forest around it, so no one can make it to the mountain of foot. It is home to The Fire Walker" he said,

"The Fire Walker?" Howl nodded,

"he is a masked figure that wonders the forest and mountains, having the power to walk on fire. People believe he is just a legend, but other have seen him".

"But why would he save her?" Sophie asked, Howl smiled,

"because he has a job to protect the people of the forest and mountain, besides, he wouldn't let a young girl die or be torture now would he?" Sophie shook her head. "She's safe, trust me. Anyway, we are almost there" he said, but Sophie still had this uneasiness in her heart. If this fire walker was real, and Bronté was with him, is she still safe?

(With Bronté)

Bronté hadn't spoken to Sam since she told him everything, she was beyond angry, she hated sharing her past to people that shouldn't know it. However, Sam was always trying to start up a conversation,

"please Bronté, talk to me, you haven't spoken since last night, why are you so upset. It's not like I'm going to go round and share what I have just heard, why can't you trust me?" he said, staring at Bronté's back as she sat quietly on her bed, she didn't look at him or say anything.

He walked over to her and sat in front of her, "you are so mysterious, but I like that about you, so what are you so worried about?" she still didn't look at him, Sam sighed. "You know, even though you have been lied to your whole life, you have felt loved more than anything, you have two homes, two mums, two dads. I didn't even know my parents, but always believe they are watching me, even now, just as your parents do, and always will.

But I want to do the same, I want to watch over you, protect you, no matter how strong you are, I will always save you". Everything remained quiet,

"why?" she suddenly whispered, "why do you walk in grounds you don't belong. You have saved me, and I am more than grateful, but I don't want to see you get hurt over me, I don't want anyone getting hurt over me." Sam smiled,

"it's my choice, and I choose this path", Bronté looked at him,

"and what if this path leads to your death, huh? How do you think it will impact on me, I wish you had just left me to be raped, I wish I had never met you" she said. Sam looked down,

"you may wish that, but I don't. I'm glad I met you, I've been alone for so many years, and they a mysterious girl screams from the top of the mountain and my whole world changes. But I don't regret any of it." Bronté frowned,

"why?" she cried, he looked at her smiling,

"because I like you" he said before kissing her on the lips. Bronté gasped at the sudden show of affection. It was a gentle kiss, but before she could push away, Sam withdrew, he didn't look at her or say anything as he walked out of the hut.

Bronté was still in shock as she felt her lips tingling, her first kiss, and it was stolen from her, but did she care? No!

Why did this happen? What did she do? She brought Sam into this and now he has a soft spot for her, but did she have a soft spot for him too. She didn't know, and she doesn't know if she'll be able to admit it.

The rest of the day was quiet, Sam didn't come back until the sun started to set, he was now the quiet one. They ate dinner in silence, as they had the left over meat from yesterday. Bronté felt like she had to say something, but didn't, she didn't want to make anything worse.

"I'm sorry" Sam finally muttered, Bronté looked at him, "I'm sorry for kissing you, I don't know what came over me". Bronté bit her lip,

"you don't have to apologise" she said putting down her plate,

"but I do. I understand that you wish you never met me, but I guess I was angry and wanted to show you that I like having you around" he said not looking at her. Bronté smiled,

"it's not that I wish we never met, I just wish we didn't meet in these circumstances...is it true?" she asked, Sam looked at her,

"what?" Bronté blushed,

"do you like me?" she said, Sam blushed, but smiled,

"yes, I do"

"but why?" she said suddenly, her face was full of confusion, "you said yourself that I was mysterious and that you didn't know what I was, so why?". Sam's face was serious, he looked down,

"I guess it's because I like you being mysterious, someone knows how I feel about being unknown to the world, you make me happy and you're different from most people I save. You don't need saving, but I want to save you". Bronté sighed and walked over to him,

"you have no idea what you're getting yourself into" she said, Sam looked up at her,

"I'm willing to take that risk" he said, before gently grabbing both of her hands, "will you love me too?" he asked her. Bronté blushed,

"don't get ahead of yourself, I'm only 14" she pouted, Sam laughed,

"and I don't care, I will wait for you." Bronté smiled at him,

"we'll see" she said, before kissing his forehead, Sam smiled.

"Thank you" he said, Bronté release her hands from his grip,

"for what?" she asked, Sam stood up,

"for introducing me into a new world" he said, before kissing her on the lips. It was less gently this time and full of passion, Bronté wasn't used to it yet, but went with it. He pulled away and smiled, "I'm glad I rescued you, and Suliman will never get you" he said, but Bronté's turned serious,

"I'm afraid she will get me at some point, she will stop at nothing to get me. She is still building up, but when everything is ready, and the only thing left is me, nothing will stop her" she said,

"then what can we do? Aren't you meant to have power beyond belief?" Sam asked, Bronté sighed,

"yeah, but I will only be using a small fraction, I haven't unlocked my full power yet, but that is what Suliman is trying to do, and she believes that the only way of releasing my power is when I'm at my weakest" she said, Sam hissed.

"Bitch, she's got a huge problem" he said, but Bronté said nothing, "why are you staying quiet, shouldn't you agree with me"

"I am agreeing with you, but I feel sorry for her at the same time" she said, Sam frowned,

"what?" he was astonished, "why, after everything she has done?"

"she's afraid. She believes the king will replace her with me, she will be sent somewhere to defend for herself where she can't, she'll die, just like the last one". Sam couldn't believe his ears, but she did have a point,

"do you want to replace her?" he asked,

"No! But Suliman believes that the king will never stop, and I will have to replace her. So Suliman is making sure that he never find out about me, and if he does, he will hear about how I killed thousands of innocent people, while Suliman did her best to protect them all!" she cried, "it will all be a lie for something that I don't want to be"

"well, for now, you're safe, but at some point Suliman's men will find this place, so we will have to move fast on that day" Sam said. Bronté looked down,

"do you believe my parents are coming?" she said quietly, Sam just about heard, his eyes widened,

"of course they will help you, they have protected you for this long, and they will continue, I bet you they are on their way" he reassured. Bronté wished she could believe him, but only time would tell, but all she knew was that she wanted to be back in the castle; this nightmare ending, and everything to go back to normal, she sighed.

"I guess, but only time will tell" she said, before leaving the room and going to bed. Sam watched her leave, he was concerned, but he knew that her parents would never leave her, they would come. All parents come for their child.
