SORRY FOR LONG WAIT. SCHOLARSHIPS. AND OTHER COLLEGE FRESHIE STUFF.

"Fight!" the announcer shouted. The father and son glared at each other in silence, refusing to move. The announcer scowled. "I said fight, you idiots!"

Vegeta fired a beam of chi into the announcer's chest and Trunks charged, landing a punch in Vegeta's cheek. The prince flipped back and charged, battering Trunks' defense before sweeping him off his feet with a spin kick. Trunks fazed out and tried throwing a punch but realized that his father had vanished as well. He whipped around, landing a kick in the side of Vegeta's head. His father came back with a forceful barrage and punched Trunks in the stomach, knocking him back several feet. Vegeta brought his hands to the side of his face. A purple, crackling ball of energy formed on his hands and Vegeta stepped forward. "Galick Gun: Fire!"

Trunks looked up and crossed his arms, taking the brunt of the purple wave of death. He darted forward and drew his hands to his size, spiking two blue balls of chi on his hands. "Buster Cannon!" he shouted, putting his father in the same situation with two energy waves.

"Little shit!" Vegeta barked, coming out of the wave to deliver a nasty combo to Trunks' chest. The son fazed out and returned the favor to the back of Vegeta's head, knocking him toward the edge of the ring. Trunks brought his hands above his head, sparking a yellow ball of chi.

"I learned from the best, father!" Trunks brought his hands down. "Finish Buster!" he said, whipping the large ball at Vegeta.

Vegeta flipped back and landed a dropkick on Trunks' face, crumpling the son on a corner of the ring. "Are you finished already?" Vegeta taunted, throwing a kick through Trunks as he faded away.

"I'm just getting started!" Trunks shouted. Vegeta whipped around, charging to the center of the ring to feel a bloodlusted barrage to his body from the younger prince. Vegeta caught a punch and returned his own, only to be ducked and thrown toward the edge of the ring. Trunks fazed out and kicked Vegeta back to the other side of the ring. Trunks charged with his fist cocked back and gasped as his father returned with a diamond-shaped energy blast to his face.

"Final Shine!" Vegeta shouted, following with a green phaser that cracked Trunks' ribs. Trunks skidded toward the edge of the ring and let out a battle cry, sparking his aura. Vegeta spiked his and they clashed again, vanishing.

Those who could see followed with their eyes in awe and terror. Everyone else saw the result moments later when both fighters fired energy waves point blank at each other, blowing each other back. They flipped back and charged once again; Trunks landed a kick into Vegeta's stomach after taking a blow to the face. Trunks ducked a kick and shot upward with a knee strike to the chin, blasting his father into the air. Trunks followed pursuit and threw a punch but was dodged by his father, feeling the sting of a kick to the spine slamming him into the arena mud square moments later. Trunks hopped to his feet and threw a volley of chi blasts to interrupt a finishing move. Vegeta dropped to the ground and charged, knocking Trunks into the air with a kick to the chin.

"You're finished!" Vegeta barked, bursting into the air. Trunks whipped around, taking a hard blow to the face and getting further knocked into the sky. Vegeta followed again, beating Trunks all about the face with a volley of blows. He knocked Trunks to the ground and held out his palm, spiking his aura and creating a large blue ball of chi with the one hand. "Welcome to Super Vegeta's Big Bang Attack!"

Gohan's eyes widened. He rushed to the edge of the ring. "Everyone out! Right now!" he shouted, deafening people who heard like a grenade had gone off. The Titans quickly went to work, taking families out of the arena.

Gohan ran over to Supergirl. "Start taking people out of the arena now."

"How is that different from any other attack you've done?" she asked. "This is getting good."

"If that attack hits, there will be no arena to watch in!" Gohan said. "Vegeta will stop at nothing to win!"

Supergirl rolled her eyes. "If you say so. Young Justice! Move!"

Robin heard Supergirl and turned to Batgirl with a frown. "Really?"

Batgirl scowled. "I was the only one thinking of stuff and-"

"At least give credit where it's due," Robin said with a smirk. She stuck her tongue out at him.

Trunks' eyes widened. He started moving his arms in a blurry, trancelike motion, stopping moments later with a diamond of chi centered over his chest. "Burning Attack!" he shouted, firing a wave as big as his father's. The two attacks clashed, forming a white ball of humming energy that grew larger and larger.

"Holy shit," Cyborg said, backing away from the wave.

"Get away!" Gohan shouted before the ball exploded in a nuclear flash. Gohan shielded his eyes from the dust as the arena itself turned to ash. The spectators and staff were safely outside the arena with many disappointed they could not be vaporized. Gohan walked through the dust, shocked at the sounds of fighting within the square. The dust cleared and Vegeta and Trunks stood in the center burnt and scratched, throwing all of their Super Saiyan might in a blur of melee attacks. They landed a punch in each other's cheek and fazed out, reappearing at the edge of the ring. Trunks beat his father about his face, driving him in the sky toward what used to be the railing of the stands. "Finish him off, Trunks!" Gohan said excitedly. Trunks gripped his father by the throat and cocked his fist back, covering it in a blue aura. He threw the punch. Vegeta caught his arm and flipped Trunks, slamming him into the ground. "Look at that!" he laughed. "You lost, boy! No wonder you let your friends die! Gohan didn't raise a warrior; she raised a weakling!"

Trunks shouted in rage and took his father by the arm. He whipped him into the sky. Trunks hopped to his feet and his aura erupted, shaking the island. His body expanded in size and muscle and his hair stood straight on all ends. His body was there, but his mind was back home. "Don't you dare mention Mister Gohan!" Fire filled his aura and he raised his hands to the sky and fired a phaser of red chi at his father.

Vegeta screamed in immeasurable pain as the wave struck, burning his body all over. His eyes rolled up into the back of his head and his Ma-Djinn symbol glowed. His skin grayed and his aura field sparked with electricity. He smirked.

"Trunks!" Gohan slapped his fellow Saiyan out of that bad place.

Trunks looked up, watching his father land on his feet. "Well, Son of Kakarot; are you ready to begin the final round?"

Gohan heard the laughter of the Master echo around the island. He spiked his aura but seemed to revert to his normal form. His aura was different, however; it was purple instead of blue. "I'm ready to end it."

Vegeta met him in the center of the arena and watched Gohan fall into a strange, new stance. Trunks watched them begin, vanishing in a battle that could only be felt, not seen. "I-I have to go," he said, hyperventilating.

"What's wrong?" Blackfire asked, touching his hand and feeling an electric shock run through her body.

Trunks took to the sky, breaching the atmosphere and breaking through the clouds. Blackfire followed and touched Trunks' shoulders.

"Tell me what's wrong," Blackfire said, hearing Trunks' breathing slow down. "Or do you want me to work things out in another way?" Her hand traveled to his crotch.

"Is that all you think about?" Trunks said, pushing her away.

"Then tell me what's wrong!" she said angrily.

"It's just PTSD," Trunks said, folding his arms. "I've seen things you would never wish to see twice in your life. It's best not to talk about it."

She started to become even more excited. She hugged him. "Tell me when you're ready, if I have time."

"You are so self-absorbed," Trunks scowled.

"Don't say you hate it," Blackfire said with a giggle.

"My father and mentor are fighting for their lives," Trunks said. "I'm really not in the mood."

"We'll just have to see about that," she said.

Gohan dodged another punch with ease and sent Vegeta barreling into the air with a powerful uppercut. Vegeta whipped around, ready to fire a second Big Bang Attack, but took a large chi blast to the face. "What's the matter, Vegeta?" Gohan asked. "Did your fight with Trunks wear you out that much?"

"Do not mock me!" whatever was inside Vegeta snarled, charging again.

Gohan leaned in and slammed a knee into Vegeta's stomach, beginning a furious onslaught of blows that led to Gohan pinballing the Saiyan prince around the arena. Gohan landed an elbow strike in Vegeta's spine and the prince landed hard on his feet, barely dodging a subsequent heel kick. Gohan kicked Vegeta to the side and brought his hands to his sides. A powerful wind picked up around his hands as he started the infamous incantation. "Kame…"

Vegeta hopped to his feet and charged. "No you don't!"

"Hame…" The ball grew larger than himself in an instant.

Vegeta fazed out, reappearing behind Gohan and throwing a kick that passed right through him.

"Ha!" Gohan shouted from behind, smothering Vegeta in burning blue chi.

Vegeta dropped to the ground and Gohan immediately pinned him down.

"Mister Piccolo!" Gohan shouted.

Piccolo appeared on the spot and performed the exorcism with more ease than Terra's. "Vegeta had more control over it than the girl."

"So then this was conscious Vegeta?" Gohan asked.

"Partially," Piccolo said. He looked at his student and best friend, feeling a nauseating power emanate from him. "What happened to you?"

"What do you mean?" Gohan asked.

"Not even Goku has been able to take down Vegeta that quickly," Piccolo said. "Ten minutes is a record for us."

"Vegeta had already been injured by Trunks," Gohan said. "He shouldn't have been stupid and waited until tomorrow to fight me. If he had let that demon fully take control, my victory would have been harder to gain."

"It's not over yet," the Master boomed around the island. "In fact, this is just getting started."

"Come out and face me like a man!" Gohan shouted. "I'm tired of this game!"

"This game is over," the Master said. "The real deal is about to be let loose, and I would like to thank you for helping to awaken it."

"What are you talking about?" Gohan asked.

"Meet me here tomorrow at noon," he said. "Your questions will be answered, including what the fate of your insignificant world is."

"Why can't I face you now?" Gohan asked.

"There are still preparations that need to be made," he said.

"How will I know it is you?" Gohan asked.

"You will know," the Master chuckled, fading into silence.

"What do we do until then?" Starfire asked. "We can not just poof to the Master."

Gohan turned to her and smiled. "We relax."

"How can we do the relaxing when evil is still the foot?" she said, beginning to examine him. "Are you alright?"

"I'm doing fine," Gohan said. "The worst thing we can do is stress out about something that is inevitable."

"We need to find more information on the Master before we meet him," Robin said, "if we meet him."

"We'll find him tomorrow either way," Gohan said. "If he's dead, a decent-sized Kamehameha will take care of the rest. I'm going to my room." Gohan took off into the air, humming a tune his father sang on the rare occasions he would drive a car.

Something big was coming.

He knew it.

They knew it.

He decided it wasn't worth confronting until he had to confront it.
