Author's Note: Again, it has been quite some time since I last added chapters mainly due to my life both home and university becoming more than I could handle. I ended up spending any of my down time reading, not writing fanfiction. I did start a novel for my creative writing class and wrote some poetry that is now published, but I know that I have let down my Fanfiction readers majorly. Please forgive me and know that I will try my best in the future.

Ch.5

Kurt woke up and slowly became aware of the fact that he wasn't alone in bed. For one brief moment, he expected to open his eyes and see Ryan's sleeping form in the bed beside him, but when he finally opened his eyes it was Finn's giant frame that greeted him good morning; sprawled across the entire bed as if it were his own. Two emotions of pain and joy warred with each other; tears silently tracked down his face. Kurt did−does? −love Ryan and knowing that they were finished hurt his heart deeply. They seemed to be the perfect fit! Kurt was finally living the life that he'd always dreamed of; he had his very own New York City apartment, attending NYADA, and had a handsome boyfriend who was quite literally his hero and they were going to get a puppy…well maybe something else since Ryan didn't want a dog, but that was all gone now. His perfect life was flushed away into the ever-growing refuge pile of broken dreams and hearts that New York City laid claim to. Perfect. He kept using that word to describe his life, but was it perfect? Finn interrupted Kurt's thoughts when he suddenly let out a loud snort then turned over still sleeping, his plate sized hands were reaching out for something. Finn brushed Kurt and apparently found what he was seeking, because two seconds later the he found himself being crushed by the sleeping man. Finn settled back into a deeper sleep now that he'd found his human sized teddy bear. A huff of irritation escaped Kurt before he gave into giggles as it hit him that the puppy he'd been longing for was this dope. Finn in all his puppy like characteristics: curiosity, clumsy, loyal, friendly, protective, and loving are just at the top of the list. Finn backed this thought up further when he growled and nuzzled his 'cold' nose into Kurt's neck. Kurt decided to stay where he was at and fell back to sleep counting Finn's breaths not even realizing that by time his eyes closed their breathing had synchronized, creating a soft breathy melody.

It was Finn's turn to wake up first and he was incredibly ecstatic to find the small man still asleep in his arms. Kurt's sandy hair was all over the place, it was bed-head extreme! He realized it was way past breakfast time when his stomach grumbled so loudly that it woke Kurt.

"Hello Pooh." Kurt smiled at Finn's puzzled look from the greeting. Kurt decided to sing the answer to Finn's silent question:

hum dumb dee dumb
hum dumb dee dumb
I'm so rumbly in my tumbly
time to munch an early luncheon
hum dee dumb dumb dumb
oh I wouldn't climb this tree
if a pooh flew like a bee
but I wouldn't be a bear then
so I guess I wouldn't care then
bears love honey
and I'm a pooh bear
so I do care
so I climb there
I'm so rumbly in my tumbly
time for something... for something
sweet!
to eat!

"The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh", Finn laughed excitedly!

Smiling Kurt climbed from bed, "you remembered, I'm glad. How about we go raid the kitchen for some'luncheon'? "

"That sounds like a grand idea and while we eat we can become couch potatoes watching Pooh Bear get into mischief?"

Instead of answering Kurt walked to his closet, rummaging through it until he pulled out a large box filled withed with cartoons. Seeing his step brother's questioning look, Kurt gave a sad half shrug, "my former 'better half'−the air quotes were implied with his tone of voice−didn't care for cartoons so I just packed them up and if I wanted to watch them I'd view them on my laptop. Looking back on it; there were so many things I changed or gave up, because Ryan didn't like them." Kurt's throat tightened and his eyes watered again.

Finn rushed to him putting the box under one arm and dragged Kurt under the other, "What do you say about you taking back some of those things you lost starting with a day of cartoons, good company, and tons of food?" They were in the kitchen before Kurt could pull himself together enough to give the giant dope, a wobbly, watery smile and a nod of agreement. "Cool! Okay, I'm making breakfast!" He quickly placed the movies by the couch before returning to the kitchen where the love of his life hadn't moved yet. Finn got worried when he saw Kurt's shock. Waving his hand in front of the smaller man's face trying to grab his attention. "Kurt? Kurt? Come on dude, your starting to worry me…"

"You cook?! Like seriously cook? No prebaked, boxed, or frozen food?" Kurt finally came back to the world of the living.

"Holy crap Kurt, don't scare me like that! I thought you were going under again!" He pulled Kurt tightly into his arms. A minute passed and although he wasn't keen on releasing the sandy haired man, he forced himself to do so, then picked Kurt up to sit him on the counter. "Stay", he pointed a finger and gave a stern look. Finn turned to face the fridge and gather supplies, missing the blush that could be clearly seen on Kurt pale complexion. "To answer your question", the taller man continued talking not knowing the effect he'd had on his friend, "Puck has been teaching me how to cook. His reasoning is that even though we are roommates and bros, it doesn't mean that he will be my personal chef, so for the past year we've chosen one night a week to learn new recipes together."

Kurt was eternally grateful that Finn wasn't looking at him, because judging by how hot he felt, he must be redder than a tomato. He was vaguely paying attention to what the other man was saying, but the majority of his attention was being devoted to his reactions to the big oaf currently fumbling around his kitchen. It didn't make sense, just a few moments of close contact with Finn and Kurt was feeling like he was back in high school, fawning over the jock in a letterman jacket. His heart was fluttering and every movement Finn made drew attention to his broad swimmer's build, shoulders that were perfect for Kurt to cry on, arms that were strong enough to pick him up like he weighed nothing. Kurt shook his head to rid himself of stupid thoughts and watched as Finn made what appeared to be peanut butter and chocolate stuffed french toast. "Uh…Finn, I don't wanna question your genius cooking skills, but are you sure about the combination your creating there?"

"Trust me little man, it's like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. Puck and I came up with this beauty after Jenna and he broke up a few months ago and you'd be surprised what the right kind of company and comfort food can do for a broken heart. Now you just sit back, relax, and let me do my thing." He shot a quick smile over his shoulder still unaware of what he was doing to the man sitting on the counter, white knuckling the edge to fight off the crazy thoughts roller-coastering through his emotions.
