Chapter Ten - Hope
"They said 'no'," Cana reports.
"What?!" I whirl towards her.
"Exactly what I said."
"They are big advocates for peace with Dragons," Mira supplied holding one of the many children in her charge. She and Lisanna were in charge of childcare for all children in both taurus Valley and Virgo Mountain.
"Yes, I suppose," I acknowledge, "Sting, Rouge, are you willing to talk with them?"
"We are willing, but we might not be able to," Sting accepts.
"Okay, go." I nod towards the door, "Report directly to me."
Wendy was walking out through the cages. It had been weeks since her encounter with Grandeeny, and she longed to talk with her foster mother. Unfortunately, Acnologia's grip had strengthened and Wendy could only hear messages of death from her mentor. It was all she heard from any Dragon. While she walked, she listened to the different variations of "I will eat your flesh."
"Save me," a quiet voice proclaimed. Her head whipped towards the noise.
"Erza, get me my armor," I stand from my desk.
"Are you sure?" Mira asks.
"Of course I'm sure, why else would I be asking for it?"
"You remember what happened last time, right?" Bixslow asks. His babies had multiplied over the years, and ten follow him everywhere; some are at home - or rather a safe place made of confinding gray walls - unable to fit with the pack. "Right?" his children echo.
"Yes, I do, but this is a perfectly okay time for me to turn into an ultimate dictator," I turn to Erza, "Now."
"Save me," the voice sounded again.
"Where are you?!" Wendy shouted. The Dragons all began to shout at her trying to command her to release them. She lost the other voice.
"Your armor," I gently lift up the leather.
"Perfect," I whisper, "Thank you Erza." I tell the Council to leave while I change.
There was a bikini top made of leather that didn't quite fit anymore and a pair of leather shorts. They are magically enhanced so that the protectiveness spread over the rest of my body.
"I'm ready," I tell them, voice cold, eyes heated with command.
"I heard something else," Wendy lead the other Slayers through the cages, "It said 'Save me,'"
"Where?"
"I don't know," Wendy cried, "We need to find it."
"It's okay, Wendy we will," Laxus tried his best to comfort her with a pat on the back. He underestimated her size and sent her flying.
"That was not okay," Gajeel watched the girl fly.
"I found him!" she shouted.
"What?!" the other Slayers followed.
