Roman POV
Admittedly, when Bayley and I were first intimate, I didn't think that we would be doing it every day, but these past couple days without sex have been difficult for me. Granted, I've gone for long periods of time without sex before, and I can hold out if Bayley really doesn't want to do it, so that's not the issue. My issue is that Bayley is freaked out about sex after hearing about the rape. I understand where the news would upset her, but… I don't know. I mean she doesn't really think that I would do that to her does she? I would hope that I've gained her trust in the short time that we've been mates. I want to believe that she wouldn't project her fear of being raped onto me, but in the back of my mind I am worried that she really does believe that. I need to talk to her.
I wander around the den looking for Bayley, and find her with Charlotte and Jojo in the library. They're in the middle of what looks like a lesson in mathematics. I don't want to disrupt the lesson so I stand back and wait for it to be over.
"Okay, Jojo," I hear Charlotte say as she holds up a flash card, "what's two multiplied by three?" Whoa! They're teaching Jojo her times tables already? She's only three!
"Six," Jojo shouts out excitedly. I'm a little surprised. How does she know her times tables?
"Good job, Jojo," Charlotte encourages the little girl. "How about this one? What's eleven times twelve?" Now that one may be a little too difficult for Jojo.
"One hundred and thirty-two!" This kid is very advanced for her age.
"Charlotte, maybe we should move on to the next subject," Bayley suggests. "Jojo obviously knows her times tables really well." Charlotte nods in agreement. She gets up and pulls out a book from one of the many shelves.
"Jojo, I'm going to give you some word problems for homework tonight, and tomorrow we'll move on to division, okay?" Jojo nods enthusiastically and Charlotte comes back to the rug with the book in hand. "Right now we're going to read a book about the five senses, and then we'll do an activity out in the garden in the backyard." As Charlotte begins reading the storybook, I walk over to Bayley quietly and ask if I can borrow her. She nods and the both of us sneak out of the library.
"What did you want to talk to me about, Roman," Bayley asks me. It's funny. I feel like we had this same conversation just before we made love for the first time.
"It's about our dying sex life, Bayley." There's no point in beating around the bush. She looks at her feet and her cheeks turn red. She looks too adorable, and all I want to do is take her.
"Maybe we should continue this conversation in your room?"
When we get to my room, I lock the door and turn to look at Bayley. Usually she would sit down on the bed, but instead she's looking out the window with her arms crossed, like she's holding herself.
"Bayley, tell me what's wrong."
"Nothing's wrong. I just haven't been in the mood to be… intimate." I walk over to the window and stand across from her.
"Baby, I would believe you if this didn't coincide perfectly with the news about Corey's crime." She never looks at me and just moves her attention from outside the window to her feet.
"I don't know, Roman. The whole thing just has me uncomfortable."
"I figured that, but why?" She remains silent and there's an uncomfortable pause. "Bayley, you don't really think I'd do that to you, do you?" In a second she finally makes eye contact with me, and she's clearly surprised.
"No! I know you wouldn't!" She's in a panicked flurry as she tries to assure me. "It's just that… I've known Corey my whole life," she explains. "He may not have been the nicest person in the world, but he never did anything like that, and now that he's done that… I don't know. It makes me wonder who I can and can't trust." I nod at her in understanding. The whole situation is a scary thing, when you think about it. Although they weren't close friends, Corey was still someone who Bayley trusted, and he did something that is making her think that she should have never trusted him in the first place. Now she's thinking the same thing about everyone. She's confused.
"Bayley, I understand that Corey betrayed your trust. Honestly, he betrayed everyone's trust, but you can't let that stop you from trusting everyone else, especially me."
"I know." She looks down again. I cup her cheek gently and bring her face up toward mine as I close the space between us.
"I would never ever do that to you. I need you to trust me, okay?" She gives a silent nod and small smile before I bring our lips together. I deepen the kiss a little, experimenting to see how open she is to me right now. Slowly, she brings her hands from around her to the back of my neck. I move my hands to her waist and pull her in closer to me, deepening our kiss even further. She melts into me and I finally feel her relax her body. It's a good sign, but I need to make sure she wants this before I move things further along. I disconnect our mouths for a moment and gaze intensely into her eyes. "Do you want to, Bayley? Can I make love to you? Please?" She stares at me nervously before she nods her head, but that's not enough. "I need to hear you say it," I whisper in her ear.
"Make love to me, Roman." I don't need any further encouragement. I back up to the bed and sit her down while I stand in front of her. I remove her shirt before removing mine, and lean down to kiss her as I take off her bra to play with her breasts. I palm her left breast, kneading it gently, but before I can lay her flat on her back, she disconnects her lips from mine, and pushes lightly on my chest. Did I do something wrong? "Can I try something?" I'm a little confused by her request, but I'm not about to tell her no.
"Alright." She reaches for my jeans and unbuckles my belt before pulling down my jeans and underwear to mid-thigh, as she pulls out my dick from its confines. She looks at it tentatively. Now that I think about it, it's the first time she's looked at it this closely, or touched it at all. I've kind of been easing her into this whole sex thing, but I haven't built her confidence up enough for her to take charge, but I guess she wants to try it now.
She takes my length in her small hand gently and begins to stroke it up and down. I close my eyes and breathe deeply, savoring the sensation. She continues to pump me, picking up speed as she gains more confidence. I don't want to scare her so I bite the inside of my mouth to prevent myself from moaning. Out of nowhere, I feel a small lick at the tip of my cock, and look down at her. I'm surprised, but again, I don't want to freak her out so I don't let it show on my face. It doesn't matter though, because she's not looking up at me. She looks really focused as she licks me a couple more times before placing a small kiss on the head and slowly taking it into her mouth. Fucking… damn! Her small mouth has only taken in the head, but the fact that she's doing this at all is turning me on so much, she just has no idea.
She closes her eyes as she takes me deeper into her mouth and slowly bobs her head up and down. Shit, she's doing well for a beginner, and I know she'll get better with time. Hopefully, she'll learn how to deep throat, but I'm not going to push it. However, I do bring my hands to her head to bring her hair out of her ponytail. Her soft brown locks fall around her face and bounce along with her movements as she sucks on me harder and faster. Shit! I let out a short, but deep moan as I grow harder at the feeling.
I keep my eyes on her, but she keeps her eyes closed. I wish she would look at me, but I can tell she's starting to become confident in her abilities because she holds onto the base of my cock and begins pumping the part that she can't fit into her mouth. I take my eyes off of her for a minute. I'm completely surrounded by her warmth, and all I want to do his tangle my fingers in her hair and fuck her mouth until I explode, but I can't do that right now. I need to show her that she can trust me, so that means that I can't be forceful with her. I return my eyes to her to find that she is finally looking up at me while her lips remained wrapped around my length. I can't take this anymore! I pull her off me, and she releases me with small pop. I kiss her roughly and lay her down while pulling off her pants and underwear. "Turn around and get on your hands and knees." She looks at me in confusion, but obeys while I go into my nightstand and pull out a condom. After sucking me off the way she did, I'm too worked up to bother with foreplay, so I'll have to make up for it later. I pull off my jeans and underwear completely before slipping on the condom and return to the bed, where Bayley is waiting for me with her ass up in the air. I can see her glistening folds, and I know that she's ready for me. I tap on her pussy lightly before probing her a little.
"Roman," she moans out with a shiver.
"Tell me you want it, baby." I probe her again, putting in the head before pulling out, only to do it again and again. She moves her butt toward me in an attempt to make me penetrate her completely, but I pull away. "Come on, say it."
"Roman, please," she whispers. "Please put it in me?" Well, it's never been my policy to turn down a pleading woman. I penetrate her swiftly and deeply, making her gasp loudly and arch her back. She feels so warm and tight. She's just perfect. I grab onto her hips tightly as I pound away into her swollen opening. "Oh my God," she whimpers as she grips the sheets below her tightly and collapses onto her forearms, forcing her ass further up. I keep a steady pace, but thrust harder, making her gasp every time our skin slaps together. "Ah!" Her orgasm hits her suddenly as she quivers around me, squeezing me so hard that I have to stop pumping just to fight off my orgasm.
I lean forward and place my forehead in between her shoulders as I wait for her pussy walls to loosen their grip on me. When they finally do, I push her down to the bed, pulling out of her, to lay her flat on her stomach. I close her legs together in between mine and penetrate her again, causing her to let out a small yelp at the intrusion. I sit up and place my hands on her round butt as I thrust into her faster than before but with the same amount of force. "Ahh! Roman! So good!" I chuckle at her outburst. I push inside her as deeply as I can go before I start grinding into her in a circular motion. She moans loudly at the action as her hands curl up into tight fists. I can tell she's really liking his. A few more minutes of relentless grinding and I decide to switch it up. I snap my hips forward, hitting something deep within her, and she screams out my name. I do it a few more times before she can't take it anymore and her orgasm overcomes her. At the moment she climaxes, her pussy contracts around my dick hard. This time, I definitely cannot fight off my orgasm and let out a grunt as I still myself inside of her, filling the condom with my seed.
When my orgasm subsides, I collapse on top of her. The both of us are breathing deeply, but rapidly. She turns her head to face me and smiles before she lets out a small giggle. I smile back at her before placing feather-soft kisses on her shoulder and neck. "I love you, Bayley."
"I love you too, Roman." We share a slow passionate kiss before I pull out of her and toss out the condom. I return to her side, holding her closely as she lays her head on my chest. There is a comfortable silence before Bayley speaks up. "Roman, I think we need to talk about Jojo."
"What about her?"
"She's really advanced for her age. I mean, you were there during her math lesson today."
"Yeah, I was surprised that she was already learning multiplication, and she knew them without even thinking about it."
"Um, well I think it would be beneficial if we were to put her in school." I give her a look. "A human school."
"Why?"
"I think that Jojo would benefit from being in a school with kids her age. Plus the teachers would be better equipped to nurture her level of intelligence."
"Don't you think homeschooling would be better for that? She gets individualized attention here. Plus, how can we put her in a human school and keep both our identities and her identity a secret. We can't have the humans finding out that she's a sorceress and that we're wolves."
"I understand that there's a risk, but if Kaitlyn can keep her true nature a secret for three years, why can't we?" I guess that's true. "Plus, Jojo going to school is more for her to learn how to socialize. There aren't any pups around here for her to play with, and underexposure to kids her age isn't good for child development, and what else are we going to do? Keep her locked up in the den for the rest of her life?" She has a lot of good points. Jojo's isn't going to be a little girl forever, and it would be wrong to deny her opportunities to live her life the way she chooses to. Still, putting Jojo in a human school would come with a lot of risks.
As I'm thinking about how to respond, I hear a small knock at the door. "Bayley! Roman!" Oh crap, it's Jojo. "I talk to you guys, please?" Bayley immediately panics and jumps out of the bed.
"Just a minute, sweetie," Bayley yells out. I get up and toss Bayley her clothes while throwing on mine quickly. Once we're dressed, Bayley opens up the door and in comes Jojo with a book in her hand and a smile on her face. "Are you and Charlotte done for today?" Jojo nods before struggling to get in the bed to sit beside me. Bayley joins us and sits next to the little sorceress. "How was the lesson?"
"It fun! We go to garden and use senses to find out what things are! Like, I close my eyes, but I smell flowers and hear birds."
"Sounds like you had a good time," I point out and Jojo nods enthusiastically. "So then what's the matter? Did you want to tell us something?"
"I go see AJ today?" I glance up at Bayley, and I know she and I are thinking the same thing: why does Jojo want to see AJ?
"Why do you want to see AJ, Jojo," Bayley asks.
"Sorceress lady come last night," Jojo begins her explanation as Bayley and I listen carefully. "She say we meet again today."
"What does that have to do with AJ?" I'm beyond curious to know the connection between the sorceress and AJ. Why does Jojo need to go to AJ to meet the sorceress?
"Sorceress lady say if I see AJ, I see her too." I'm still confused and a little skeptical to be honest.
"Does the sorceress want you to see her alone," I question Jojo.
"No, I be with AJ."
"No I mean can Bayley and I come with you?"
"Sorceress lady no say you guys go. She say I go!" Now I'm even more skeptical. I look up and Bayley's eyes lock with mine. I know she's just as concerned as I am about Jojo meeting this sorceress, but at the same time, we have to remember that this woman was there for Jojo when Natalya had captured her. I guess as long as she's with AJ when they meet it would be okay for Jojo to see this sorceress again.
"I think Punk is going to see AJ, today," I mention as I let out a heavy sigh. "Let's go ask him if he'll take you."
CM Punk POV
I can't believe today's the day that April and I get to see our child for the first time. It's so surreal. I'm actually going to be a father! I'm really nervous to be completely honest, about a lot of things. I mean April forgave me, but I still have a lot to prove to her, and she can change her mind about me at any time. I have to make sure that I don't give her any reason to think that she and I wouldn't work.
This whole thing has my head spinning. I want to be with April and raise our child together so badly, but I just don't know how we're going to make it work. Don't get me wrong. I'm willing to do whatever needs to be done so that we can stay together, but I have this unshakeable fear. The fear that despite, all my efforts, it won't be enough, and April will ultimately refuse to be with me because of my commitments to my pack as a pack master. I guess I shouldn't be worrying about that though, at least not right now, and I should have more faith in the connection that April and I have. I mean, what we feel for one another is deep, and it's real. Maybe I'm worrying about nothing. April and I love each other and that's enough to keep us together… right?
On my way out of the den, I head over to the kitchen quickly and grab a couple of oranges. April has been having this craving for citrus as of late. I wish we had a salad of citrus fruits, but we don't, so I might have to pick one up on my way to April's new apartment. I pack three oranges in a bag and walk out of the kitchen and to the front door, but before I can walk out, I hear someone calling out for me.
"Pack Master CM Punk!" That's definitely Bayley. She's the only one who addresses me so formally all the time. I turn around to see her rushing down the stairs and right behind her is Roman who is holding Jojo, who has a small backpack on her back, on his shoulders. It's a good thing that the little girl doesn't have heightened senses. Bayley and Roman reek of sex. "Sorry about the smell Pack Master CM Punk," Bayley apologizes as her strut comes to a halt right in front of me. At least she's aware of the scent, but if she knows how they smell, then why did they come down here? "Roman and I were wondering if you could take Jojo to see AJ today?" I'm a little surprised by the request.
"Why," I ask Bayley as Roman reaches us with Jojo still mounted on his shoulders.
"Jojo would like to visit AJ," Bayley explains. I look up at Jojo who is waiting anxiously for my answer. Normally, I wouldn't mind taking Jojo to see April, but considering we're getting our first sonogram today, I don't know if this is the best time for a visit.
"Maybe tomorrow, Jojo," the little sorceress' face falls in devastation. "AJ has a doctor's appointment today, so this isn't the best time to visit her, but she's not doing anything tomorrow."
"No," Jojo screams. "Sorceress lady say today! Today I visit AJ! No tomorrow! Tomorrow too late!" I look at Bayley and then at Roman totally flabbergasted. Jojo's in a complete panic, and it's so out of character of her to throw a hissy fit when she doesn't get her way.
"Punk," Roman speaks up. "Just take her. It's really important to her that she go today." I look back at Jojo who looks like she's on the brink of tears. I let out an exhausted sigh before relenting.
"Alright Jojo. I'll take you to see AJ." Jojo's entire demeanor brightens up as a toothy smile spreads across her small face. "But you need to be on your best behavior because we're going with AJ to the doctor's, okay?" Jojo nods enthusiastically as Roman removes her from his shoulders and I take the little girl in my arms.
"We packed her a bag so she doesn't get bored during the visit, and we packed her a snack as well," Bayley informs me. "But you're going to have to give her an actual meal. Make sure you don't feed her junk." I can't help but feel like this is a test of my parenting skills. Maybe showing April how good I am with Jojo will impress her?
"You can trust me, Bayley," I assure her. "Jojo is in good hands."
Figures that April didn't mind Jojo coming with us to her doctor's appointment at all. In fact, she seemed happy to see Jojo, and after the two embraced one another, we headed to the car and drove to the doctor's office.
When we get to the doctor's office, the administrative assistant has us stay in the waiting room until the doctor's ready to see us. I have to say that this place is really strange. I've never been to a doctor's office before. Growing up, whenever we had medical issues or emergencies we just turned to the witches for help, and, in recent years, Charlotte has taken on the role of pack doctor. She's not formally trained by human standards, but she's read every medical book and journal in our huge ass library, and Raquel taught her the more practical aspects of being a doctor.
Sometimes I feel bad for Charlotte. I know she would love nothing more than to be a real certified doctor, but I know she's scared to enter human society and do so because of that human she killed. Unlike the rest of us, Charlotte's murder was more high profile. When she was twenty-one she was dating this human who worked for the mayor, but he was abusive. He beat her every chance he got and, for whatever reason, Charlotte put up with his crap. One day, as Charlotte describes it, he came at her with bat, she pushed him and he ended up falling back and cracking his skull on the corner of his office desk. She tried to save him, but he was already dead. When she came back to the den she was a wreck and locked herself in her room for a month. She didn't even come out for food. Sasha and the twins took care of her during that time, and after a while, Charlotte came back around.
"Ms. Mendez," a nurse calls out for April, effectively bringing me out of my thoughts. "Dr. Guerrero is ready to see now." April and I get up from our seats, and I scoop up Jojo from the floor where she is reading a chapter book. We walk through the door and the nurse leads us into a room with a monitor, a medical table and a couple of chairs. "Just go ahead and sit on the table Ms. Mendez and Dr. Guerrero will be in shortly." The nurse then leaves the room and closes the door. I place Jojo on one of the chairs and she continues to read her book. Then I help April up on the medical table and pull up a seat next to her.
"You nervous, Punk," April asks me.
"I am a little to be honest. What about you?"
"I'm feeling okay. I'm more excited than nervous. I mean this is the first time that we'll be seeing our child!" Her excitement is having an odd calming effect on me, but still. Seeing this child for the first time is going to make this whole thing that much more real. I'm actually going to be a father… what if I end up like my father? I'd like to think I wouldn't be a piece of shit who'd skip out on his kids, but in all reality, I don't know that. Plus, my relationship with April is still written in sand. Even if I don't skip out, who's to say that I won't fuck up so badly that she decides that I can't be a part of her life or my child's life? This whole situation has me reeling.
Suddenly the door squeaks open and a woman with short black comes walking into the room. "Sorceress lady," Jojo cries out enthusiastically as she jumps out of her chair and runs over to the woman. The woman picks up Jojo and the two of them embrace. They know one another?
"It's good to see again, Jojo," the woman says. She then turns her attention to April and me. "It's good to see you too Ms. Mendez. I see you survived your time with the sirens." How does this woman know about that?
"Dr. Guerrero, how do you know about that?" April's comment sheds a little light on this woman's identity. Apparently, this is the doctor that we're supposed to see. "And how do you know Jojo? And why is she calling you sorceress lady?" April seems to be just as confused as I am.
"One question at a time sweetheart. First of all, hello CM Punk, my name is Vickie Guerrero." How does she know my name? "Now to answer your question, Ms. Mendez, I am the sorceress who stayed with Jojo while she was imprisoned in the Realm of Sirens. I'm also the one who gave Renee her powers back so that she could save all of you." My head is spinning from this information. There's been a sorceress in this town all this time and none of us knew about it?
"I suppose I should thank you then," I answer Dr. Guerrero after a long and awkward pause. "We owe you our lives."
"No thanks necessary. Besides, Renee was the one who really saved all of you. Things could have went downhill drastically had her resolve to help you guys not been absolute."
"Well, still. Thank you." She smiles at me and takes a seat next to the monitor.
"Well let's get to this appointment shall we? We have a lot to cover before it's over."
The rest of the appointment went pretty well. It was amazing to my child through the sonogram. It was so small, but we got to hear its little heart beating so rapidly. Honestly, I'm glad Vickie Guerrero is a sorceress. It makes things easier because she already knows that I'm a wolf and that April's and my growing child is human-wolf hybrid. She also knew about everything that April went through while she was held hostage in the Realm of Sirens. Vickie explained that the vampire blood, by this time, had left April's system so it no longer had an effect on the baby. I let out a sigh of relief when I heard that.
Vickie also explained that the human body cannot handle giving birth to a supernatural being. Learning that made me cringe, and I saw the blood drain out of April's face. Obviously, neither of us wanted her to die, but Vickie reassured us. She said that as long as she is there during the birthing, there wouldn't be a problem. She also prescribed special prenatal vitamins that would, not only provide nutrients for our developing child, but also prepare April's body for the actual birthing and strengthen her body so that she can carry the child to full term without any issues. Thank God for Vickie Guerrero! Without her, there's a chance that I would have lost both April and my child. Now that I know that the both of them will be okay, I just need to focus being the best boyfriend and father I can be.
As we pack up to leave, Vickie has a word with Jojo.
"Jojo, do you remember that song I taught you?" Jojo nods with a small smile on her face. "Good. I'm going to teach you the second part of the song okay?" Jojo nods once more and searches in her backpack before pulling out a notebook and a pencil. This kid is prepared. "Okay, this is how it goes: tempus et locus non est. mens est omnis fallacia. Si modo verum est, quod pons audeamus applicat transierunt. Praeteritis, praesentibus et futuris, qui sunt in eodem instanti concurrunt omnes." It's times like these that I wish I spoke Latin. Jojo writes down the song and then repeats it several times, until she can sing it flawlessly. When she does get it right, April takes Jojo by the hand, says good-bye to Vickie and begins to exit the room. I follow her, but Vickie calls out to me and asks me to stay for a few minutes longer while April sets up her next appointment. April shrugs it off and tells me to stay, and then she leaves hand in hand with Jojo.
"What is it that you needed to speak with me about, Vickie," I ask her curiously.
"Listen CM Punk, I don't know why you recruited the Wyatts when you were going to the Realm of Sirens, but it was a huge mistake," she explains to me with a serious look on her face. I sigh audibly. How many times am I going to hear that the Wyatts can't be trusted?
"Listen, Vickie, I know the Wyatts can be a little creepy, but they're witches so I trust them."
"Then your trust is misplaced. Don't go around believing that just because people are witches that they can be trusted."
"What are you talking about?"
"You should have known that Wyatt was up to no good when Dean told you that he wanted black magic in return for his protection. He's going to use that magic to destroy all life on Earth." Is she crazy?
"What reason would he have to do that?"
"He's insane! He doesn't need a reason to do it! And thanks to you, he almost has everything he needs to accomplish his goal!" I don't want to believe her. If I do that means that I made a God-awful mistake, and I've already made one of those.
"Alright, Vickie, let's say I believe you. What else does Wyatt need?"
"Sasha already has a team working on that." How does Sasha know about this? Dammit, if she knows about it then Vickie is telling the truth. How many times can I fuck up?! These aren't even little screw-ups! These are huge deals! "But they're going to fail, and when they do Bray Wyatt is going to come after Jojo." My eyes widen in shock. Because of my stupidity, Jojo is in grave danger. Roman and Bayley are not going to be happy about this.
"What does he want with Jojo?"
"He wants her powers. Sorcery, combined with black and white magic will be more than enough for the Wyatt family to destroy the world, the universe if he so chooses."
"How do we stop him?"
"You need to get Sasha to put off your Pack Master Duel." I can't say that I'm not relieved to hear this. The last thing I want is to lose my position as Head Pack Master. "If the duel takes place during the upcoming new moon, Bray Wyatt's followers will capture Jojo, and kill all of you.
"Alright. I'll talk to Sasha. Hopefully, she'll be willing to put off the duel. Thanks Vickie." I move past her and am about to walk out the door when Vickie stops me again.
"By the way, Punk. If you really want to be with AJ and raise your child together, you're going to have to give up your position as Head Pack Master." I glare at her incredulously. She can't be serious.
"Why can't have I both?"
"Your position as Head Pack Master won't allow you to give the proper attention to your family that it deserves. April will end up leaving you, and she'll take your child with her." April wouldn't do that… then again, she almost did it before.
"But-but April and I love each other. We said that we'll make it work."
"Love isn't going to be enough to keep you two together in the long run. Trust me, I've seen it." Seen it? What does she mean, she's seen it? "Time is an illusion, Punk, I can see past the present and into your future. If you remain Head Pack Master, in five year's time, April will leave you." I've never been so torn. I don't want to be without April, but I don't want to give up my position either. "The choice is yours Punk. Just know that you can be committed to your pack and to your new family, but you cannot be in charge of your pack and expect April to put up with being neglected." I let out a frustrated sigh. I have a lot of thinking to do.
Seth POV
My last conversation with the new Queen of Sirens, Naomi, is still playing out in my head like a bad dream as Renee and I stand around waiting for Raquel to finish her locator spell.
Naomi told her officers to watch over the Realm while she ensured that the Renee, Raquel and I got to the Vatican safely. She opened up a portal and we all jumped through, but we didn't get there immediately like we normally would. Naomi informed us that something was slowing down her magic, which only served as further evidence that Bray Wyatt and Natalya were way ahead of us. As we traveled through the portal, I thought that it was the perfect time to ask Naomi if she knew anything about the curse. Fortunately, she did.
"It's called Kharma's curse," Naomi explained to me. "Kharma was the Queen of Sirens during the time of the rebellion and she was the one who cast the curse on you guys before she was killed."
"If she's dead, why is the curse still in effect," I asked her.
"When Kharma cast the spell, she made it so that it would continue even if she wasn't alive."
"Do you know how to break it?"
"I don't know off the top of my head. Only the Máv̱ri̱ Cheirógrafo would be able to tell you how to break the curse." Of course! "I'm sorry. Breaking the curse should have been my first act when my reign began, but I had to take care of several other things, including some of Natalya's followers who weren't involved in the battle you guys had."
"No, I understand," I assured her. "It's not your fault at all, and it's better that you handled Natalya's followers instead of focusing on the Kharma's curse. There's no telling what would have happened had your priorities been different."
I honestly don't blame Naomi for not putting the curse on her list of high priority things to do. Now that she's Queen of the Sirens, she needs to focus her energy on her entire race, as opposed to worrying about another race, but I'm sure that, with time, sirens and wolves can learn to tolerate one another, and maybe even become allies.
Out of nowhere, I feel someone touching my arm and I jump at the contact. I was so pensive that I was completely lost in my own thoughts and blocked out the world around me. Luckly, I don't have anything to worry about. The person who touched me was Renee. Of course, my reaction has caused a worried look in her eyes.
"Seth are you okay," she asks me, her voice full of concern.
"I'm okay, just thinking," I answer honestly.
"Is it about Kharma's Curse?"
"Yeah." I look down at my feet and Renee leans her head on my arm.
"Don't worry. When we get the Album Libris, we'll find a way to get the Máv̱ri̱ Cheirógrafo. Then we'll break the curse. We just need to take this one step at a time." I drape my on her shoulders and smile down at her while placing a kiss on the top of her head. She's right. We need to focus on getting these books first. Then we'll worry about breaking the curse after we know that Bray Wyatt is no longer a threat to us."
"Hey lovebirds," Raquel shouts out as she gets up from the ground. "I found it." Renee and I rush over to her.
"Where is it," Renee asks hastily. "Is it here?!"
"No it was moved about a century ago," Raquel replies. Of course the damn book isn't here! That would be way too easy!
"Do you know where it is," I inquire.
"It's in Siberia." Siberia? Those missionaries really didn't want anyone to find that book, huh?"
"Think you can whip us up some warmer clothes before we get there," I ask.
"I can do that on our way there. Now the both of you take my hands and let's go." Renee and I take hold of Raquel's hands, forming a small circle between the two of us. "Crassus hiems vestimenta sua materia, quae nos." In an instant, the three of us have on thick winter coats, pants and boots. "Ostium apertum est, et nos in Siberia." In the next moment, I feel a very cold blast of air blow harshly into my face. I look around me to see that our environment has changed completely. Instead of the large buildings of the Vatican City, there is nothing but a white snowy landscape around us. We're definitely in Siberia.
"I've never been here before," Renee mentions through chattering teeth. "It's really cold!" That's the understatement of the year. We haven't even been here one measly minute, and I already can't feel my toes.
"Hopefully, we won't be here long," I shout out so that Renee can hear me over the harsh blizzard. "Where's the book, Raquel?!"
"Follow me!" Raquel starts walking toward what looks like a forest. It doesn't look like it's far away, but with the blizzard raging, getting there is taking us forever. I look over at Renee who is really struggling to follow us through the storm. The strong winds are blowing her back with every step she takes, and she's stumbling through the deep snow, even falling every once in a while. I walk over to her and have hug my back as we coordinate our steps and walk through the blizzard together. She may still be cold, but, at least this way, she won't be slowed down by the heavy winds.
When we finally get to the forest, we see a large hole that has been dug up between two very large trees. Please, for the love of everything, let that not be where the book is supposed to be!
"It was supposed to be here," Raquel cries out in frustration. I let go of Renee and walk over to the hole to sniff around.
"The scent is still fresh, although it's definitely been dulled by the harsh weather," inform Raquel.
"Ahhhh," I hear Renee scream and turn to her to find her rolling in the snow, with someone on top of her.
"You're supposed to be dead you ungrateful, treacherous bitch!" That's Natalya! She's alive! I waste no time and transform and run over to Renee at top speed. As soon as I reach them, I bite into Natalya leg and throw her off Renee, but she recovers quickly. She rushes toward me and I prepare myself for impact, but before Natalya can reach me she runs into something, something invisible. I look around for a moment and find Raquel walking toward us with both her arms straight out in front of her and both her palms open. Her eyes are glowing and her lips are moving, but I can't hear what she's saying over the blizzard. Form the looks of it, though, I would venture to guess that she's putting up a wall of protection to prevent Natalya from harming us. Thank God Raquel is here. I wouldn't have been able to handle Natalya by myself.
I look back over at Natalya, and she looks absolutely furious. She's banging on the invisible wall between us with death in her eyes. Raquel finally reaches Renee and me and starts chanting something, but she's too far away for me to her here over the winds. Suddenly, Natalya goes completely still, as though she's being bound by something. She falls back into the snow and Raquel walks over to her.
"Where's the book Natalya," Raquel demands to know. Natalya laughs loudly at her.
"Wouldn't you love to know?" Just then a large ball of light comes crashing down between Natalya and Raquel. The force of the blast sends Raquel flying through the air before crashing into a tree. Renee and I run over to Raquel to check on her. She conscious, but rattled, hurt and she's coughing up blood.
"Well if it isn't the little thorn in my side." I recognize that voice. Bray Wyatt is here. Natalya and Bray Wyatt are here and Raquel is hurt and Renee doesn't have her powers. How am I supposed to protect them?! "You've chosen the wrong side to be on in this war, Raquel." Both Bray, who is holding a large book under his left arm, and Natalya walk over to us slowly, as though stalking us much like a lion stalks its prey. I don't know if we're going to survive this, but I'm not going down without a fight.
While Renee is tending to Raquel, I throw myself in between the girls and the imposing threat approaching us. I snarl at them, bearing my canines and preparing myself for the fight of my life.
"Do you really believe that you can fight off the both of us, Seth," Natalya makes fun of me. She holds out her hand toward me, I know she's about to cast a spell. I jump at her, attempting to bite off her arm so she can't use it against me, but before I can, I feel myself being lifted off the ground, as though by magic… magic! Dammit I totally ignored the fact that Bray is here! I look over at him to see his hand pointed toward me. He must have me in a levitation spell. I struggle while in the air. I don't know why, because I know my struggling won't help me, but it's better than floating around like an idiot, but in the next second, I feel an insurmountable amount of pain shooting straight up my spine and coursing through every muscle in my body. I literally howl in pain and can vaguely hear Renee screaming out to me. I feel myself fading quickly. Is this what dying feels like? After what feels like forever, I completely blackout.
"Seth!" What is that? "Seth wake up!" That sounds like Renee. "Seth please! Please wake up!" I open my eyes and am immediately greeted by a bright light. It burns my eyes, so I close them again before sitting up and then opening my eyes again. "Oh thank God!" I feel Renee's arms wrap themselves around my neck. Am I dead? Is she dead? Are we both dead? I look around me to find that I'm on a bed in a brightly colored room. "Raquel! He's awake," Renee yells out while holding onto me even tighter.
A moment later, Raquel walks into the room followed by Sasha, both of them take a sigh of relief upon seeing me. Okay, I guess I am alive then. "You had us worried for a while there, Seth," Raquel comments. "You've been out unconscious for a couple of hours." I'm confused.
"Where are we?"
"Back at my house," Raquel answers.
"How'd we get here?"
"As you blacked out, I gathered enough strength to transport all of us back here." Renee still hasn't let go of me and even begins to cry. I take her in my arms and sit her on my lap as I gently stroke her hair.
"I'm okay, Renee. Calm down." She just carries on crying. I look up at Raquel and Sasha. "How are you doing?"
"She's okay," Sasha answers for Raquel. "When you guys got back, I was already here with Charlotte. We came here after guard duty last night because, honestly no one wants to be at the den right now. Charlotte patched Raquel up and then patched you up before heading to the den to give us some time alone."
"So then my guess is that we failed to get the books."
"My top priority at the time was to get all of us away from Wyatt and Natalya safely, Seth."
"No, I mean I'm thankful, and I think you made the right choice, but… now what are we supposed to do?"
"I'll tell the only thing we can do," Sasha interjects. "Wait for Wyatt and Natalya to make their next move. Until then, we need to prepare for the worst, and hope for the best."
So that's chapter 37! It was nice and long and eventful lol.
Next chapter we'll see what Dean's plan is to fix the mess he made with Kaitlyn, Punk will talk to Sasha about the Pack Master Duel, and we'll see what Corey's been up to.
