A/N: Howdy folks, so this is my last chapter for spring break and probably for like a month or two because I have lots of big schooly test coming up. yeah! Note sarcasm. Okay that is pretty much all I wanted to say. This chapeter is based on The One Who Writes the Ones' OC, Larita Lovelace.
CHAPTER ELEVEN:
STARS, DEMONS, AND ME (an OC Snippet)
I could no longer express my pain, everything I was feeling with words. Only tears. No one would be able to understand this connection I had with Mother, my foster-mother. The only person to take me in when I was just a cold shivering "disgusting child" in her own words.
At this moment, I didn't care about anything else. It was only mother's cold body in my arms. Water was slowly filling up the room; it was never good when a water mage cried this much.
"Larita, stop crying, you are a Demon Slayer; emotions are for those weakling Dragon Slayers." Her stare was cold and full of the malicious intent that I knew she held for every mortal.
"Yes Mother." I was still confused about how she was alive. I voiced my concern.
"This is no time for questions. I must tell you something very important before I'm called back to the Underworld." I nodded my understanding. "I haven't told about why I was sent to Earthland," she paused before continuing. "I was sent to destroy a race of magical creatures designed specifically to defeat demons. Their whole purpose was to kill us, but after we left Earthland for the Underworld, they had no new enemies. Over the years, these creatures began to rely on humans more and more; finally, they integrated so much, Magic as we know it rests in their control.
"You see Larita, they are too powerful! I was supposed to kill them all. It was my mission, but instead I found something much worse." I looked into her eyes, the started fading, "They are dieing, but they have a plan Larita. They are training new mortals to take over for them. Kill them...the trainees," her black eyes faded to white.
I was far too shocked to cry. Slowly I stood; my feet managed to drag me to the common room of the guild. "She's dead," I managed with all my restraint.
"Are you saying our prayers have been answered!" Rego, a tall boy with black hair, was practically whooping.
"My mother is dead," I hiss, "Do you have no sympathy?"
"Larita, don't get mad at him. We weren't as attached to Mizu as you were." A comforting hand rested on my shoulder turning me into Shoko's chest. The tears still would come, but I still felt comforted by her maternal ways towards me.
Macy walked up as well; she looked like her sister but brighter. While Shoko had faded pink hair color and midnight blue eyes, Macy had bouncy pink hair and brilliant blue eyes. "This probably isn't the right time, but can we take off our uniforms," She gestured to her maid's uniform. I noticed that everyone was still dressed up like servants.
"Sorry," I turned to face the small group of friends I had, "Yes, all of you are free to leave. You no longer have to serve the guild in anyway."
"Hey, don't treat us like we're leaving," Blast, a yellow haired boy, laughed from the corner.
"Yeah, we're not leaving you, Larita." Summer sat in his lap giggling.
I looked around the room, everyone was there. Rego, Macy, Chris, Shoko, Blast, Summer. They were all here for me. We were truly a guild now.
My hand seemed to raise of its own. My middle finger and ring finger were pinched against my thumb with my pinky and pointer finger pointing towards the ceiling. The others joined in smiling. On a count of three we all threw our hands back with a loud howl towards the sky.
The next few weeks were a bustle of plans and many hardships, but not just for me. The rest of the group had to adjust to not being servants of Mizu anymore. We finally got most of our shit together but decided to have a meeting to help us understand what was going on.
"Mizu told me why she came to Earthland," I began the story. "Apparently she had one of these trainees in the cell she walked into. That creature killed her." I finished.
"This is so crazy!" Blast huffed.
"It's okay Blast, we still have time. This paper we found says that the trainees don't even know they're trainees."
"What paper?" Macy stood and snatched it from Summer. "Oh my gods! Where did you find this?" She asked.
"In Mizu's office, we were clearing it out for the new master," Summer pointed to me. ;or should I say Alpha." She giggled again.
"Larita, look at this," Macy shoved the paper ar me.
"I don't like this," Shoko stared at the paper when she spoke, "They are people just like us. They dont even know who they are," She pleaded with her eyes.
"That doesn't mean anything, they are a threat!" Rego slammed his fist on the table.
"Not to be rude or anything," a very quiet but decided voice spoke, "But Pinky has a point."
"I said not to call me that!" Shoko's protests went unheard.
"How so?" Rego asked his newest victim.
"Some of these people are innocent. The one that killed Larita's mother not so much, but the others are pretty innocent. We wouldn't be better than Mizu if we went and murdered a handful of innocent people, who don't pose a threat yet."
"Exactly," Shoko shouted, "We should find out as much as we can about them, see what makes them so different from other people."
"I don't see why you're so adamant about protecting them." Rego squinted at Shoko.
"They're innocent. They're not creatures, they're people with lives and families. Even the one that killed Mizu had good reason. She was kept in that cell for years."
"But they're are dangerous," Rego countered.
"No they're not!" Shoko's voice rattled the rafters of the poorly constructed guild hall. "Shoko, just leave it," I tried to calm my friend, but Shoko backed away from me.
"You believe this BS don't you?" Shoko searched my face. I could only nod. "Why? You of all people. You were the girl who tried to help us escape when Mizu said to treat Macy and I like slaves. You were the girl who risked her life to stop Mizu beating Blast and Summer for being forgetful. You were the girl who was able to love a demon as a mother. What happened to that Larita? What happened to all of us? The promise we made when we were younger." She looked at us. I felt so guilty. "To never be like Mizu. That, as soon as we could, we would become the best mage guild ever. Even though only three of us know magic. What happened to us?"
"Nothing, happened to us, but you are the one who changed," Rego pushed passed Macy to stand right in front of Shoko. "Why are you sympathetic to their cause? You are the merciless Shoko who only smiles for Larita," He paused to rub his chin, " Don't tell me you're one of them?"
"Are you crazy, I don't even have magic!" Shoko threw her hands in the air. There was a crumbling behind her.
"Is it true?" I asked quietly.
Shoko looked behind her in shock, "What? Since when…" Her blue eyes began to plead forgiveness, but all she received was a shove from Rego.
That night I lay in the grass under a tree. "Are you all right?" Someone asked behind me. My head turned to find Chris. A smile slipped onto my face.
"I'm fine, just a little shocked."
"I think all of us are." His voice softened me. He was so dilberate when he talked.
"I'm gonna miss her," I said quietly. I tuned to find Chris's face directly in front of me.
"It was her choice to leave," he whispered.
"Yeah, but could she really be on of them?"
"I don't know."
"She always looked good in her maid outfit," I recall.
"She hated it though."
"Yeah," I paused, "She told me she secretly liked it once because it made her look sexy," I laugh.
"That is Shoko for you."
"Yeah," I sighed.
"You're saying that a lot," was all he had to say.
"Yea-I know, but she was like a sister to me."
"This must be hard on you, losing your Mother and your big sister all in one month." He pushed a piece of hair out of my face.
Finally the tears came, Mother and Shoko gone forever. They were silent tears though.
"Mother always hated the stars," I tell him, "I once asked her why and she said because they are evil."
"The stars are evil?" Chris laughed.
"Shoko told me they were full of magic once. Full of all the good magic in the world."
"Really."
"Yeah, she used to talk about stuff like that to me all the time. She used to tell me stories all the time. They were always about magic and good. I think she was forcing goodness upon me."
"She must have loved you."
"She was my sister, but she didn't like me at first," I tell him.
"What?" he fained shock.
"She hated me, like she does everyone." I was quick to defend Shoko though, "But she is always willing to help anyone."
"Not anyone, just you." I slap him on the arm; it only made him laugh harder.
"What do you think we should call them?" I looked over at the tall pillars of rock.
"The Shoko Stones?"
"Nah, how about the Star Stones?"
"Its nice."
"It is."
Lucy: Is this really the villain for the arc?
Levy: I can't seem to tell, she is so nice...
Ethan: I have one question-
Lucy: Dont you dare ask me to marry you again!
Ethan: Aren't you full of yourself, I was actully going to ask who 'they' are?
Levy: Well thank you for reading.
Wendy: Dont forget to Follow,
Lucy: Favorite,
Carla: and review.
Levy: If you do, updates will come faster. *whispers* Trust me on this, she's planing to write one chapter and wait until she writies the next to update, so keep those reviews coming.
Lucy: Don't forget to send in some OCs too, we are kinda getting tired of our own.
Ethan: Hey!
Levy: How did you get out of the duct tape?! *chases Ethan away*
Lucy: WE are still in need of some guys.
Ethan: Don't listen to her it's all about the ladies.
Levy: Come back her you perv!
Ethan: See all the ladies want me.
Wendy: These guilds need to be filled. Wolf Clan, Sabertooth, Fairy Tail, and Blue Pegasus.
GoldenOwls: i know some of you haven't sent in OCs yet, and I really need them. Some people have sent in over six OCs, and I appreciate that very much. However, I don't want to keep asking the same people for OCs they should be able to enjoy the story instead of worrying if six OCs are portrayed correctly. (Edit: I have filled all the guilds. You can send in OCs if you wish but they won't be main characters unless they are awesome sauces)
Ethan: GoldenOwls is a shit artist, so don't even think she could own Fairy Tail. All the arty goodness goes to Hiro Mashima.
Levy: He is a great guy.
Lucy: I agree.
Ethan: To marry me?
Lucy: Baka Kick!
Levy: Like the new move.
Lucy: Thanks!
