CHAPTER THIRTEEN:
SHOKO, JUAN, AND ME (An OC Snippet)
I had read somewhere that kindness is weakness; however, in my entire nineteen years has it ever given me chance to believe that statement. I do admit people take advantage of my kindness and unstoppable longing to make the world smile. So when I see a girl looking around anxiously at a cafe, I couldn't stop myself from asking her what's wrong.
"Hello, I'm Gwendolyn, but you can call me Gwen," I sat down across from her.
SHe sends me a glare as though I were an enemy. "I never asked who you were," she growls.
"I know, but you looked really sad," I tell her matter-a-factly.
"So what," she snaps. I back up a bit.
"Gosh, what did I ever do? I just want to be your friend," I murmur. Suddenly, her eyes cloud over.
"I'm Shoko," she says in a much kinder tone.
"Nice to meet you Shoko," I smile. "So when did you come to Crocus?" I ask casually while waving a waiter over.
"Um … a few days ago," she looks like she doesn't want to tell me too much. Well, too bad!
"A few days ago! You look like a local already."
"I don't think so-" I cut her off.
"You have exotic hair and definitely so magic power on. Trust me that is local around here."
"Oh …" She bites into a cookie.
"So Shoko, what do you do around here?"
"I haven't figured that out yet. I kinda need a job first."
"A job? I can find you one of those quick. Come on let's go." I pull the pinkette to her feet and we glide through the town.
"But I didn't pay for my food yet!"
"It's okay I grin, knowing you don't have a job you probably wouldn't be able to afford it anyway."
"What?!" I ignored her question and instead headed to a friend of mine's club.
"Joy!" I shout, Immediately I was met with lightning blue hair and a scowl. Joy was the epitome of Joy; I stress the irony of the woman's permanent scowl.
"Gwen, what are you doing here?"
"My friend needs a job." I pointed to Shoko. The girl was wide eyed and looking at the karaoke bar in amazement. "She's a small town girl," I explain.
"Well, we are in need of a new waitress." Joy sighed in defeat. No one could every turn me down; I was to nice.
"Great! Shoko you've got a job. Now, let's sing." I pulled Shoko into a free both.
"But I don't sing," she claimed.
"So what, neither do I," I choose a song.
"My Fault by Imagine Dragons?" Shoko asked before a drum could be heard in the background.
"I have no idea to be honest, just sing it's fun!" I begin the first verse.
"Oh my ears sting!" my best guy friend ever, Juan, walked in his mom, Joy the non-joyful owner of the bar, must have told him we were here.
"Juan met Shoko, Shoko meet Juan. He's a talent scout person." I pat him on the back.
Shoko sends him a glare.
"It's nice to meet you," Juan remains polite.
"That makes one of us," Shoko doesn't let up. Finally the chorus begins.
"Is it my fault, is my fault. We've been missing each other, we've been missing each other." I swear the skies must have opened. Shoko sang so beautifully that the birds dropped and died in their inferiority. It was almost as if she were feeling the song in the depths of her bones; this song was speaking to her soul in way I find amazing. It seemed to just fit her. Right then and there, I could see Shoko found herself in music.
I slapped her arm, "Since when could you not sing!" I looked at Juan who looked like he wanted to literally propose right then and there. "Juan, please tell me this girl has a bright and brilliant future!"
"My dear she does! We just need a little magic," Juan snapped his figures, and Shoko's large t-shirt turned and shorts turned into a beautiful dress and she wore a pair of wedges.
"Is this really necessary?" Shoko asked alarmed.
"Yes," Juan clapped, "You look gorgeous, doll. Now isn't the time for compliments though, now we must go and see the boss man. He will decide your future."
"Don't be silly, no one can do that! Your future is yours to take not anyone else's."
Juan looked her up and down, "You're right, sugar cake, no one can change you. But if you let me take you to the boss man your future is bright!" Shoko looked to me. I gave her an encouraging smile. So what if it has barely been thirty minutes since I first saw her, we are stuck for life now; I can feel it.
A year later … Shoko rushes back stage. "Tough concert?" I look up from her schedule. I don't exactly know how I ended being Shoko's manager, but I did.
"You could say that," she said.
"So, tell me what's that," I poke at her neck. Her eyes widen as she notices the blemish.
"Nothing," she clams up. I sigh she has a habit of doing that a lot. "Okay, but just saying you haven't quite been the same since I told you about your guest appearances in the next GMG."
"Did you have to remind me?"she groaned.
"I did because obviously you forgot again. Come on we have to travel to Crocus to sing for the final of this year's GMG.
"Fine!" she snaps, "But I'm getting changed." I leave before she can rip off her clothes. Suddenly I hear a second voice in the room with her. So the hickey was nothing, I smirk; I don't think so.
A/N: Hey-o Owls, how are you guys? I myself am feeling rather good today! I have an update scheudule now too. So things are getting done over here and I don't feel pressured. Also the OC was sent in by the fabulous Lucy Queen of the Stars.
Disclaimer: I don't own Fairy Tail, I thought it was obvious since I'm making up random shit about it, but I suppose some people don't see it that way. Or maybe that is the reason I need to say I don't own it; oh well, some mysteries can't be solved by my little mind.
For those of you who are good little readers and read the Author's Note and Favorite, Follow and Review, here is a Teaser: "'And … it's over. The round is over right?' Luxxy looked from the ten minute battle to the cameraman. 'No?' she looked so sad as she shook her head along with the cameraman's. Her eyes drifted to the prompter telling her what the next round was, 'L.S. vs. … vs. FAIRY TAIL TEAM A!' Luxxy screamed and screamed … and screamed."
Hoots,
Owls
