CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR
PITCH PERFECT
"Hello Fiore!" Violet cried, "Today is Round Two of the Grand Magic Games!"
"A few weeks ago, guilds competed in a trivia contest. The teams Lumen Siderum, Wolf CLan, Fairy Tail Team B, Sabertooth, Fairy Tail Team A, Mermaid Heel, Blue Pegasus, and Lamia Scale all passed and were placed in that order,"Josh's monotone voice greeted the audience.
"Josh, why aren't you the least bit excited?" Violet asked with an 'announcer-y' voice.
"Because we have new cameramen, and this one screeches louder than you."
"I'm extremely offended by that comment."
"Miko, who are they talking about?" a voice was heard from behind the camera. "This is called a stage whisper….no, I'm not shouting...they always look at us like that…" The voice faded out.
"See what I mean?"
"Kinda," Violet turned the conversation to the round, announcing that it would consist of a musical competition in the form of an obstacle course. "Each Team will send out a mage that is musically inclined. This will actually be a non-magic challenge that will show the world that mages don't need their magic to survive."
"Why that is needed, nobody knows; but, we're still doing it. That is how we do things," Josh mutters.
"Lumen Siderum sends out Musica Leon." Violet looks at a small lacrima screen before her, "I hear that she has a music magic. Now, if that's so, she might have a hard time with this round."
"They are switching out her guitar," behind the two announcers the scene of a staff-shirted man taking Musica's guitar away and replacing it with a normal one was shown on a screen.
"She looks like she's going to be sick."
"I feel sorry for the guys working in the arena," the voice from behind the camera came again.
"So do I," Violet's eyes were alight. "The next player has been chosen," her eyes followed the pink haired girl, "That is the pop star Shoko! Are they allowed to do that?"
"We only said musically inclined; Shoko must have some amount of that," Josh shrugged.
"The teams look to be anxious with this new development, and- oh! another player has been chosen! And he's cute! Soren Bright is a user of Ring Magic. It looks like he is taking off his magic accessories. If only he took off his shirt!"
"Really, this again; you were just starting to become a better citizen."
"You sound like the judge," Violet whinned.
"Soren has chosen the guitar as his weapon." The line would have sounded funnier if Josh didn't sound so bored. "And, Sabretooth has sent out Matt Darklight; he is using the guitar and seems very enthusiastic."
"Fairy Tail Team A has been fighting over who they are sending out for a very long time now; who is it?! Chayee Brose! She is said to be the great- grand something of the first master of Fairy Tail, and has decided to sing her way through this one."
"Mermaid Heel has sent out another singer, Melly Cross. SHe uses a type of music magic that makes people dance when she sings; the staff has decided to let her compete because it wouldn't affect the results too much."
"Josh, last year you were really good at this, what in Earthland happened?"
"I slept in the same trailer as you for twelve months."
"I still don't get it it," Violet turned back to the camera. "Blue Pegasus has sent out a girl name is Hikari Dollie; she grew up with a street musician and plays the violin. And last but not least, Lamia Scale sends out Aki Gemstone to sing."
"The first obstacle is the gate into the obstacle course. The players must repeat the tune with their chosen instruments and not using any magic." Josh repeated the rules.
"It seems that Matt has gotten carried away and forgot this was timed. He is currently strumming on his guitar, and his teammates are facepalming," Violet begins her time in the spotlight.
"Shoko is at the second obstacle," Josh seems to not be trying hard at all.
"And, Hikari makes it through, so does Soren and Musica followed by Melly and Chayee. Matt has finally taken a hint and has started working on repeating the notes," Violet tells the audience and the screen shows the dark-haired fifteen-year-old working somewhat diligently.
"The second obstacle might get some of the less trained contenders. They have to read music and play or sing the notes back. And because this obstacle does involve some serious know-how, the ones who don't complete it in ten minutes are allowed through," Josh says with no glee whatsoever.
"Shoko used her headstart to her advantage and is nearly finished with the obstacle. Musica is right behind her, so is Hikari. Dang! These girls are trained well.
"Soren is taking a little time, but; since he is farther than Aki, Matt, Melly or Chayee; he's fine."
"Look! Matt made it through the second obstacle. Melly also completed it. Aki and Chayee seem to be trying their hardest, but - Shoko just finished the third challenge - where you have to sing or play the next line of a song - and is on to the fourth and final obstacle.
"Now, this next obstacle is quite difficult. The players have to listen to a piece of music and write it down. Again, for the less educated competitors this will be another set back."
"Aki and Chaynee are right next to Melly at the third challenge. Matt has just passed it and so has Lynnea. Soren, Musica, and Hikari are also neck and neck. And...Shoko finishes! followed by Hikari, Musica then Soren. Matt is a little bit behind them but farther than Chayee and Aki. Lynnea is really struggling on the last obstacle. Aki and Chayee pass the third obstacle and are onto the grand finale. Matt is finished. Chayee and Aki have no idea what their doing. Melly finishes. Chayee and Aki give up and tie for seventh place.
"Good game player, but it looks like Wolf Clan wins this one."
"At least we won," Rego looked up from the lacrima depicting the event.
"Yes, but how will that help us. We are barely any closer to discovering their new leader."
"Isn't the the Princess?"
"No, she rules over the Chosen and their kin, but the Leader of the Chosen is another who we must find. Now, you said that last time you saw him he left a clue," Wrath questioned.
"Yes, guitar strumming," Rego nodded.
"We have three guitar players. Musica, the girl trained by lions; Matt, a follower; and Soren, a slacker. Obviously there is only one choice."
Rego nodded, "Soren, he looks delicious-"
Wrath's hand cracked along the back of Rego's head. "No, you lust-driven cow, Musica."
"Of course," Rego rubs the back of his head; it hurt more than any girl's who had ever hit him, "but may I ask why?"
"She was raised by lions; she could have been trained by Leo himself, making her his perfect replacment."
A/N: Hey-o Owls, how do you like the little twist I added. I hop it will make up for the fact I'm a day late. i've been thinking that with school starting and all I'm going to switch my normal friday update to Saturday just so I can write on Saturday.
Some Sad News: only six chapters are left. I have finished planning and this story will be done. My next fanfic will be something non-Fairy Tail.
Disclaimer: I don't own Pitch Perfect (though lesbi-honest I would love to),and I also don't own Fairy Tail.
Please tell me all your thoughts about this chapter and what you loved about the story so far; it would mean a lot to me.
Hoots,
Owls
