CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN:
FIRE, FIRE, BURNING BRIGHT
After the second round, the Fairy Tail Team B assembled around a pit.
"Hey, Soren," Jeanie look to the father of her little pack, as she adored to call it, "Do you think we could start a fire?"
Soren's eyes widened, "And burn down the city?!"
"No, idiot she means in the pit," Melissa, the mother of the pack, hit Soren's shoulder.
She turned to Jeanie, "We can start a fire, but you have to ask Angelica or Ash to help you."
Jeani's eyes light up. "Hey! Angelica!" an older white haired girl turned from the redheaded man to face the youngest of the pack.
"Yes?" she smiled happily at the little girl.
"Can you light the fire?"
Angelica opened her mouth, and before she could say either yes or no. Jeanie pulled out the puppy dog eyes knowing that it was the one power that nobody could resist. "Of Course!" Angelica replied instantly. Ash began laughing while the Jeanine pulled Angelica to the fire.
"What's up?!" Seth walked towards the fire pit with Chaynee trailing behind.
Soren stood and clasped arms in a manly way with Seth before sitting down. Seth followed and Chaynee sat down next to Melissa and they began chatting away about books, though Chaynee didn't read much.
"Nothing much," Soren thought hard about it for a few minutes, "Not that I would know. How are you doing?"
"I'm stressed," seth sighed, "The only person on the team who can do anything worthwhile is Chaynee; the others are all...whiny!"
"Poor you," Melissa turned her conversation to them. At that time the bonfire had started.
"Hey Look it's the Fairies!" the Sabertooth Team ran out from the hotel in the distance towards the bonfire that was becoming a beacon in the approaching night.
"Matt!" Lynnea hit the younger boy, "that's rude."
"Since when," Matt rubbed his arm. Kanade just shrugged and sat down on the ground next to Melissa and Chaynee who hand her a marshmallow to roast. Across the fire Jeanie, Angelica and Ash were sitting on a blanket talking and Laughing.
"Do you mind if we join you?" Morris Brose took a level-headed route, though it seemed to be more intimidating than anything else due to his height and dark persona.
"S-sure," Soren, the opposite of Morris, nodded quickly. Seth rolled his eyes wondering briefly why Soren was his best friend.
Sabertooth officially joined the Fairies around the fire. Luxxy also drifted out with Catherine Fairbanks and Ty Lightwood. The trio sat together, but there was an obvious divide.
"Is there a party without us?!" Luna Cross, in wolf form, snuck into the setting, unnerving everyone.
"Sorry about her," Tizzy, a girl with a loud voice pulled her Luna and her other cousin Melly to sit like proper human though one was a wolf, "It's a full moon."
Two other girls walked slowly behind them and sat talking with themselves on the outside of the circle.
"See, I told you everyone was out here!" Aki Gemstone followed by her three brothers (Hikari is a Dragoon though).
Rex, Rikky, and Hikari sat down Rex grumbling, Rikky trying to flirt with Kanade who was unfortunate enough to have the seat next to him, and HIkari talking to everyone who would listen which was mostly Aki. Lulu Faris was a different story. Aki had pulled her outside, but she had never liked people and just leaned against a tree watching the fire with a focused glare that no one wanted to be the end of.
"Oh! Have you all come out to worship the full moon too?" the last team to arrive was Lumen SIderum. The girl speaking was Celste. Archi Moonbeam followed closely behind looking ready to pick her up if she tripped, his priest robes rustling with his large strides.
"The moon." Azu whispered next to tesu with a shudder.
"Didn't y'all worship the moon?" Testu's voice was loud.
"Not all of us," Azu whispered, but wasn't heard. She had taken the seat between Tetsu and Matt; there was barely any room for her.
Musica sat on his other side, "Yes, but we left because Celste needed to follow her 'destiny'."
"WHat are you guys talking about?" Soren questioned. Conversation around the circle had stopped.
"When we were little," Musica pointed to her Archi and Celeste, "we were raised in a temple to the moon goddess, Serenity. Celeste is her daughter apparently."
"Oh," Soren turned back. "Well, anyone wanna tell a story or something?"
"I have one," Celste's hand went up immediately.
"What's it about?" Lannea asked.
"The moon." Musica groaned. "Lucy always tells it when we there's a full moon."
"I always tell what?" Some of the guild masters and others came out. It seemed they were having a meeting.
"The story about the moon."
"Oh," Lucy sat down.
"Could you tell it?"
"Sure," Celeste crawled over to her.
"As you may know, the stars join together to make spirits," Lucy pulled out a ring of keys summoning Plue. "Many years ago, the Moon was also a spirit. The leader, the most powerful. She was kind, generous, powerful. Perfect.
"Times were very different then. People were more intuned with the spirits of all kinds especially the ones the stars. People worshiped them like gods. This of course was before the keys which are used to control them.
"Now, since they worshiped normal spirits like gods, they worshiped the Moon the most, thus the goddess Serenity, who was worshiped until quite recently. That, however, is another story.
"Back to the keys. People have been greedy for many years and some were more so than others. They began to war and magic, what the spirits used was discovered. People began to fall from what the Moon expected of us. People began to stop worshiping her. Then one particularly greedy man decided he wanted to tame the spirits for themselves. They say it may have been Zeref himself, but whoever it was set of a course of events that led to one of the greatest times of darkness in all history.
"The spirits were now controlled by man and never able to turn back. Now, I have asked my Spirit Friends if they know about this, but they don't have any memory. But, back to the Moon. She grew weaker as she was never needed, but her leadership was needed, so came the first of her prodigies and current ruler of the Celestial Spirits. While no one was noticing her she trained him into the great King he is today.
"Even though she is gone now, it is said that on the full moon, the day when her magic was the strongest, that her power follows through the world like it did so many years ago. Supposedly, it does things if she wills it strange things."
"Like what?" Lola, a mermaid, asked, her notebook handy.
"Magic, is all I know." Lucy stood, "Well, I hate to be a stick in the mud, but it's nearly two in the morning and you have a round tomorrow. I hear its going to be a hard." With that the bonfire dwindled out.
A/N: Hey-o Owls, I know it has been a little while since I posted anything, but I am so tired as of late. My school is holding auditions for their two musicals. Not to mention all the pressure form high school in general. SO, tell me what you think. I'm going to try and update when I can with chapter 28, but Chapter 29 should be up the saturday after next if all goes well. Also I think there are like five more chapters left though I could be wrong.
Disclaimer: I barely own anythang!
