Sebastian stood by the chantry door, listening to the sounds of the battle outside.
The Qunari attack had come unexpectedly and he did all that he could to get as many as he could into the safety of the Chantry.
He still held his bow in his hand. With each scream, he felt his grip tighten. He had to do something. Lealia was out there he knew it. She was out there doing everything she could for the city she called home.
He had to do the same.
Taking a deep breath, he raised his hand to the door.
"Sebastian?" He heard Elthina call to him among the chaos of the injured. The woman stood before him, her eyes pleading but she gave a small nod.
He made his decision.
Opening the door, he stepped out in to the chaos.
"The Arishok failed to take you captive." I stared at the armored Qunari in front of me, my grip tightening slightly from fear.
You're scared? The cocky familiar voice perked up inside her.
"Unfrotunate." Time to act.
I flipped up and backwards away from the creature just as Anders released his magic. Ice formed at their feet, rooting them in place as Aveline charged. As she took on those two, Anders and I turned our attention to the others. Four more Qunari came from behind, swords and spears swinging. I managed to side step one attacker only to be narrowly missed by the second. I backed up only two feel a wall behind me.
This was not what I signed up for.
Stop being a wuss and fight.
I saw the metal glare and reacted with a flat parry, driving my second blade into his side. Looking, to the others, I saw more Qunari had joined the fight.
The second attacker was on me quick. Rolling to the side, I dodge the blade and brought my blades up for an attack, only to see an arrow protruding to from the creature's neck.
Confusion filled me for a moment, until I looked up to the balcony and saw Sebastian. I let the feeling of relief hit me for a moment before rejoining the fight.
That's when I felt it coming on.
The pounding in my head. The flashes.
Not now.
I focused my mind on the fight before me. The details of my blades, The movements of my body. Right Now, it didn't matter where I was, or who I was, all that mattered was the battle and protecting those I cared for.
That's it Hawke.
The last body fell and the pounding faded.
I dropped my blades and fell to my knees, weak and breathless.
"These were definitely not bandits in the alley way." The constant fighting was taking its toll. My body ached, all I could smell was blood. Looking around I took in the scene before me.
When we had first walked into high town, it had been to these creatures, dragging a woman across the courtyard. She had escaped when they saw us. Others had not been so lucky.
Is this what the witch meant? Is the life I remember an alternative to this? Why would I want this?
I couldn't help the thoughts as they crossed my mind.
Is this real?
I felt the throbbing soft within my temples.
"Lea?" I broke my gaze to see Sebastian squatting beside me.
"We have to keep moving, love." Something in me jumped at his words.
"Right." I took a deep breath and took Sebastian's hand. He helped me up and I took my daggers off the floor.
"Ok. Let's go figure out what the hell is going on."
A/N I know this short chapter must be a disappointment, especially because I don't think it is written very well anyway. But I needed to establish some little moments here. Mainly, Sebastian's decision and Lealia's ….wondering. I mean The "witch" did tell her to consider her options ;) As for Sebastian's decision…. Anyone have any ideas?
