Yay update. Sorry it took so long :'(

Everlight had fallen. The final message sent by the mage said how fast The Overlord had taken the island, it was going to be much more difficult to retake. Oberon overlooked the board as the humans started to shift pieces around the board. It was a large map of the land, dipping and rising to match the actual geography. The humans wouldn't win. He was certain of that. Trying to defend everywhere at once. The advantage of the Overlord was the speed of their strikes. They could attack anywhere. At any time. He was wondering why the world wasn't already burning.

"Oberon. What is your opinion on the matter?"

He shook his head. "The only way to remove the Overlord is to bait him out. If you can predict where he will attack then you stand a chance." He was tired. All these men. Thinking they knew war. The oldest here was less than eighty. They were boys. Playing a game that was rigged against them.

"Can we expect reinforcements from the dwarves."

"Aye, the empire barely scratched our fortresses. Plenty of men inside. Some steam wagons as well."

"We wait until the reclamation of Everlight begins. Until then, my family and I have a wedding to go to." Baleon finished.

Mirah was waiting outside for Oberon, tapping her foot impatiently. He glanced at the wall next to her, looking to see a small knife in her hand. "You honestly carved that into the wall?"

"I told the humans it meant hall of great leaders. It appears none of them can read our language."

"I suppose it doesn't do any harm. We're going to see an old friend of mine. We'll join the carriage, break off, then rejoin."

It took them fifteen minutes to join the carriage, and until then they had to wait till they were in The Commons. After that they split off from the main group. Heading down the alley and following the twists and turns. They arrived at the door, finding it torn from its hinges and blood pooling between the cobbles.

"Where are the bodies?" Mirah asked, moving through the door. It was then they both saw a girl in white, dragging a corpse by the ankles and moving it onto a pile of bodies. The elf's moved silently, until there was a clang from Oberon's boot.

"Stay back." She half yelped, her voice shaky. She was trying to point a dagger at both of them, but she was holding it with little skill.

Mirah dashed forward, trying to grasp the dagger, what happens next surprised her. A knee was drove into the gut, a fist into her temple, and another blow to the knee.

"Let's take her weapon, that'll make her feel safe. Why does no one think I can use this properly?" Her tone shifted entirely, fear replaced by confidence.

"I apologise for my companion. I am here to see an old friend, but I presume Velvet is no longer with us."

There was the sound of choking as Mirah to tried to escape, and ended with a knee pressed to her throat. "She never mentioned you."

"We were not on the best terms, last time we met." Oberon stated. The girl finally let her captive free, placing her dagger somewhere inside her dress. "I've read reports on what your people were doing, and since you no longer have resources available, I'd like to volunteer some of my men."

"But." Mirah began before being interrupted.

"We don't have anything left." Velvet replied.

"My men will be enough."

"But." Mirah began, before receiving a look from Oberon that made her feel like a child. "But."

"I will have preparations made later."

"But."

Lo was annoyed. She'd woken up in the middle of the night, with the urge to go into the tunnels. She'd asked Lilith and Gnarl said that the tower was starting to connect with her, and that somebody was moving out there. She asked if this would happen every time someone was there. They told her only if the tower felt they didn't belong. She decided to investigate herself, chucking on a pair of trousers and loose top.

When she was in the throne room the black, spiderlike arms dragged her and Fengir through the gap in the ceiling. She had no idea where the tower was under, it only took a few minuets to get to the nether gates, and they were all over the kingdom. Maybe the tunnels sped up how fast she traveled in them. She slowed down when she arrived at the disturbance, preparing a fireball before, leaning around the corner.

"We've been wandering for hours." Seb commented. "And no matter how far we walk, we always see the tower just behind us. I swear the place is trying to keep us in."

The elf crushed the fireball in her palm before stepping round the corner. She found that she was charged, a large, wolf-like creature pounced on her, who was then barrelled into by Fengir.

"Lo?" Drake asked

"What the hell is that?"

"Who's she?" One of them asked.

There were six in the group in total. Seb, Anders, Kira, Drake, a girl she didn't recognise, and the wolf-thing that was currently wrangling with Fengir.

Lo whistled quietly, the wolf that had pinned its opponent down reluctantly walked away, letting out a small growl as it sat by her side.

The wolf-creature walked back to the group as well. It was fully clothed, trousers, shirt and a long coat. A pointed snout started to shift into a face, arms shortened, and claws receded. "I hate dogs."

"But you turn into one." Anders said.

"Exactly, do you know how awkward it is feeling the urge to lift your leg when you take a piss. Not to mention how everything smells like shit."

"I'm sorry, I honestly am, but I can't read minds so can someone please tell me what's going on?" Lo announced.

"Lo, this is Marian, she swears a lot, and the other one's Jennie she's super cheerful, all the time. Jennie and Marian, this is Lo." Seb said.

The non-wolf girl walked up too her, grabbing her hand and shaking it. "Nice to meet you, I control fire." She chirped. "Are you an elf? Sorry, just you have pointy ears and your glowing and your pretty. Am I taking too much, people say I do that some times."

Lo froze, something had been said but very fast and it took her a few seconds to work out what. "Yes, and I don't mind the talking. Where are you people going anyway?"

"Seb, Marian and Jenn have finished their training so we were going to celebrate, this place seems intent on keeping us in though." Drake replied.

"Can I come with you?" She asked after a sudden pause.

"We can't get there now, the tower won't let us out." Seb huffed.

"I can get you out." Lo chirped. The tower was keeping them in, but it would obey her, and let them leave.

"I guess we have no choice then."

"No, not really."

"Get out." The Huntsman bluntly stared before even entering this room. He knew the smell from a mile off, and the fact he did disturbed him. When he pushed the door open Lilith was lying in wait for him. She was lounging on his bed, his sheet covering her bottom half with her wings spread around her top.

"But darling."

"Put your clothes on, and get out."

"Spoilsport." Lilith huffed, pulling herself out of bed as the abomination turned around." I do all this and you won't even look." She said mockingly.

"Hurry up."

"I take my time, in all things. Can we not talk? That is actually why I came here."

"Speak then."

"You can turn around now."

He started to turn his head but realised that it was a trick. "I'm fine where I am."

"Clever boy. How much do you know about Lo?"

"Daughter of a noble. Sent away when she was little, no family left."

"Not quite true, but that's another story. Does she seem like the kind of person would destroy a whole kingdom down, just to kill a few people?"

There was a long pause. The succubus had a point. At no point has she seemed particularly cruel, or particularly like she would hold a grudge. Apart from the killing. Definitely apart from the killing. When that happened she was fully ruthless.

"Are you saying she has another motive?" The Huntsman questioned.

"She was thinking of leaving when she's killed those who condemned her."

"What?" The abomination's tone became much sharper, a hint of shock in his voice."

"The girl is the Overlord, she has the power, and she's already losing her morals. Conquering and war is in her blood, whether she wants it or it, and deep down, she wants to rule."

"Why are you telling me this?"

"I think I'm fair you know, give it The Prophet or Cannibal, or whatever you call him, and see what he comes out with."

"I'll be off then." The Huntsman turned around to see Lilith leap over the balcony, unraveling her wings just before hitting the magma below.

Flight does not seem to be magically assisted. Bones that connect them to the back appear to be thin. Most likely hollow as well to make them lighter. One simple slice would be all that was required. The abomination shook his head. He was thinking too much like The Cannibal.

It took them seconds to return to the tower, despite the abominations having walked for hours. When they had Lo had quickly gotten changed, putting on a simple dark dress. After that they'd headed back out. Lo was following them, having given them a map to the tunnels, it only took them a minute to arrive.

"Guess the elf was right." Lucy said. "Now, how do we get up?" Just then an array of spidery limbs shot from the walls, several of them grasping each member of the group and pulling them upwards. They were thrown from the tunnel, Lo landing on her feet and the wolf girl landing on all fours, Drake and Kira crouching, and all the others letting out groans from a rough landing.

"I'm never going to get used to that." Anders commented, pulling himself up.

"It would have been nice to told about it." Seb said. He'd had the roughest landing, being flung furthest and landing on his shoulders before rolling down a hill.

"Where are we?" Marian asked.

"Just north of Valentis, it's a human and dwarven city." Kira replied, Lo offering her a hand. As the abomination grabbed the elf's wrist, her mind exploded, the stars seemed brighter, the darks darker, even the grass seemed greener. The opposite happened to the elf, everything dulled, before she collapsed.

"Kira, what did you do?" Seb questioned.

"Who cares? Do you know how alive I feel right now? She's like twenty of you. Come on, let's go." Unlike the others who waited, she started jogging south.

"So, do we head back? Wait till she gets back up? Or does someone want to carry her?"

"We might not be able to get back without her conscious. And we have no idea when she'll get up."

"Not me." Marian chirped.

There was an array of people declaring it that they weren't going to carry her. In the end Drake was left. When he lifted her up he was supposed at how light she was, almost able to lift her with one hand.

It took them fifteen minutes to catch up with Kira, and Lo was still out cold. She was waiting outside the inn, seeming to have lost her energy. She reached out for Lo again but was batted away.

"We still don't know when she's going to wake up, I hope she does, she seems nice. And we might need her to get home." Marian said again before they headed inside.

A/N Thanks for all the new follows and faves. Sorry it's been a while but I have the next few chapters planned out so they should be out faster.
