Okay so its time for another chapter. So lets skip the intro crap and get to it cuz I've felt like shit for days now and just want to go to bed. Sorry if my writing suffers for that. Also this chapter is gonna be heavy with feels so if your sensitive then I suggest grabbing a tissue. Enjoy.
"Don't worry I'll be fine here by myself. Its you Im worried about, while Im here chillin in the city you and Roman are gonna be out there." Fidelis said to Neo who was about to head out for Mt. Glenn.
Neo flashed a few signs with her hands. 'We'll be okay, grimm don't scare me.' She had a smile on her face while she signed this.
"Regardless, be careful. If you get eaten then who am I gonna the worlds largest Ice cream shop with in Atlas." Neos eyes began sparkling at the thought, it had been her dream to go there for years. "They've got every flavor known to man and legend has it that they've got a secret flavor no human has ever tasted." At this point Neos mouth was watering which made Fidelis laugh. "So be safe and make it back." He the bent down and placed a quick kiss on her lips causing her to smile.
"Neo come on we've gotta go!" Roman shouted from the bullhead.
'I'll see you soon.' She signed and gave him a peck on the cheek before turning and heading off.
"Okay, so I've got the whole day off and nothing to do. Maybe I'll go bug Ozy." Immediately after these words left his mouth he got a text from Ozpin on his scroll that simply read 'No'. "Oh he is good. Well I guess I'll just go into town then." And with that he went and got ready.
1 hour later
Fidelis had been walking the streets for a few minutes now desperately looking for something to kill his boredom and was failing horribly. "Isn't there suppose to be some kind of festival going on?" He groaned as he walked aimlessly. Then something caught his eye. "That could be fun." He said gaining a smirk.
On the other side of the street was an all to familiar young girl wearing a red hood holding a bag from a weapons shop. Deciding it may be a little fun to get to know his enemies he began walking in her direction. "Hey Red! Its been a while." He called out to the girl causing her to turn around to see who was calling her. When she saw Fidelis she instantly remembered that he was the one who said all those terrible things about Blake and told them that she was a former White Fang member.
"What do you want?" She said slightly hostile towards the Dingo faunus.
Fidelis put his hands up in defense. "Hey now, theres no need to be like that. The way I see it you and I are even, I pissed you off by telling you Belladonna's little secret, and you helped nearly kill me at the docks." He said with a chuckle as he remembered that fight.
"You were at the docks that night?" She asked raising an eyebrow.
"Yeah. So anyway sense we're even I thought it would be fun to have a little chat with you." He said as a grin came on to his face. "Come on, it'll be fun. I'll even throw in a free lunch at a cafe of your choice." Ruby thought about it for a minute.
"Alright fine, but Im watching you." She then lead Fidelis to a nearby cafe that she and Yang frequent. Only a few moments after sitting down a plate of chocolate chip cookies was set in front of them which Ruby started tearing into like a rabid animal.
"So wheres the rest of your team?" Fidelis asked as he watched the girl eat.
"Well Yang and Weiss are out shopping for dresses to wear to the dance next week and Blake is probably doing research on you guys." She said passing a glare at him.
"Hey don't get mad at me because shes obsessive. Besides she really doesn't have any real reason to be coming after us anyway. We never did anything to her, shes the one who betrayed us. So why do you hate us, do you have a real reason or do you just hate us because everyone else does?" He asked the girl who had now slowed down with her eating.
"I don't hate you people, I just don't like the way you operate. Why do you hate humans? Why did you join such a violent group?" Ruby asked now losing some of her hostility.
Fidelis thought for a moment. "If you really want to know I'll tell you, but its not a pretty story. Are you sure you want to hear it?" He asked crossing his arms. He hadn't told his story to anyone in a very long time, the last time being to Adam about three years ago. Honestly it never bothered him to talk about his past, nothing he did could ever change it so he didn't see any point in crying about it. Ruby nodded. "Alright, well then I guess I should start out by saying that I don't hate humans. In fact my girlfriend is a human, Im well aware that both human and faunus are very capable of evil. I learned that at a very young age."
"You see, when I was a baby my parents left me to die in a dumpster in an alley. Apparently I sat in that dumpster crying for hours until a woman came along and rescued me. She was a human and she took me in and raised me as her own child, she didn't care that I was a faunus. She loved me and I loved her, we never had a lot of money and she had to resort to alternative ways of making enough money to feed us. All in all we were happy, until one day when I was five. Two of her clients came by our house hoping to hire her, but she refused them because that day was the anniversary of when she found me in that dumpster."
"The two men weren't very happy to hear this and quickly got violent. One of the men was a faunus who used his claws as a weapon against her while the other just stood back and laughed. While all this was happening I was hiding behind the closet door crying my eyes out. Anyway, at some point she went for a knife that she tried to use to defend herself with, thats when the human pulled out a gun and killed her. After they got what they had come for they grabbed a bag and stuffed me inside it. I was in that bag for god knows how long."
"I was taken to a large warehouse where they handed me over to a group of other men who paid them cash for me. I had no clue what was going on until a few days later when they dumped me into an arena with another kid who looked about my age. I remember there was a crowd of people surrounding the arena all yelling at us to fight. That was when the man who dumped us in the ring threw a single knife into the center of the ring. Me and the other kid made eye contact and we realized that only one of us could live." Ruby was on the verge of tears as she listened.
"I was five years old when I won my first fight, though it wouldn't be my last. For the next three years I was forced to fight all over the Atlas underworld winning match after match. I wasn't long before they started pitting me up against Grimm instead of other kids." Fidelis paused. "Tell me something, how old were you when your aura was unlocked?"
"Uh, eleven. They unlock your aura after you enroll in combat school."
"Well I was eight and no one unlocked mine. Apparently I'm one of the rare few who actually unlock their own aura." He explained causing Ruby's eyes to widen.
"But I thought that was impossible."
"No just very rare, difficult, and dangerous. When I was eight they pit me up against an ursa, I spent most of the match running for my life inflicting minor cuts on the damned thing with the knife they gave me until I tripped. The ursa began swatting me around like a toy. Its all a bit of a blur to me even until this day but right when the beast was gonna finish me off my soul instinctively exploded outwards in order to protect me. People who experience a forced opening inadvertently deal irreparable damage to their souls in the process. Only people with extremely high levels of aura can do a forced opening."
"When a person uses a muscle their body subconsciously limits how much force they can use to prevent damaging the body. If someone could get rid of those natural limiters then they'll find themselves capable of much greater levels of strength than normal. This same concept applies to a persons aura. People like me who forced their own aura open lack the natural limiters that regulate the amount of aura we can use at once, while this can grant us incredible power it can also tear our very souls apart if left unchecked."
"Using my newly unlocked power I not only killed the ursa but tore my way through everyone in the compound. As I said everything is a bit of a blur at this part so I can't really get into detail. It wasn't until the next day that the man I now consider to be my father, who at the time was a low ranking police officer was responding to a call about a stench coming from the warehouse. He found me there surrounded by dozens of dead bodies and covered in blood. My father took me in and took care of me even after he lost his job because he was a faunus."
"He was one of the founding members of the White Fang. I joined the cause because my father did, though when the fang turned to using violence I had no problem with it. The same couldn't be said for my father and brother. My father had taught me and my little bro to fight so we could protect ourselves. He even had a surgeon implant a special limiter inside my chest that keeps my aura in check. My father tried to teach us that violence wouldn't get us anywhere, but at the time violence was all I knew."
"After he died I no longer had anything keeping me in check. I'd spent most of my childhood being forced to fight and kill, that kind of thing can really mess a kid up. I began looking for more and more battle, I didn't and to tell you the truth still don't care who I fight as long as I get to experience the rush I get when I put my life on the line. The White Fang are my family, they accept me for who I am flaws and all. Thats why Im with them." Fidelis finished. Ruby just sat there digesting everything she'd just heard.
Was she wrong for hating this man for what he is or not. "Anyway red, I should be getting back now. you have a good one." He then stood up from the table and began to leave. "Tell Belladonna that she owes Rideat big time, she'll know Im talking about." He left the cafe happy not just because he managed to get a lot off his chest but also because he sewed seeds of doubt in the girls head. He began walking and pulled out his scroll and sent a message to Rideat. 'Sup bitch.'
And another chapter down. I hope you guys liked it, I've been meaning to give yall a bit of back story on Fide for a while now but was worried that it would come across as to depressing, then I figured I'd just make the next chapter so fuckin awsome that you'd forget why you were sad. Anyway Im gonna go get some food. LATER.
