So while we're all waiting for the next episode of RWBY to come out I figured I'd have a little fun with this chapter. Nothing serious, just some good old Fidelis style fun. Enjoy.
Fidelis followed behind Kain as they navigated through the crowds of people, still wearing their Nobody uniforms. "Why are you following me?" Kain asked looking back at Fidelis. To be honest Fidelis didn't really have a reason, after talking with Neo earlier she got called off by the bitch prophet leaving him alone. Today really was a day he wanted to be alone.
"Because I've got nothing better to do. Clef is off bugging his cousin Nick, after they reunited he hasn't left the kid alone. Neo has some business to take care of so no luck there. Jin is passed out in the infirmary after our match recovering. So that leaves you, and besides, would you really want to leave ME alone in a stadium filled with thousands of people while bored?" Fidelis asked the boy who paused briefly.
"Don't wonder off." He said before continuing through the crowd. After walking for a few more minutes they came upon their destination, a small noodle shop where teams RWBY and JNPR were sitting.
"Don't sweat it, we've all face way worse before." Yang said to Pyrrha as they approached.
"Lets see, a grimm invasion, violent extremists, a destructive sociopath." Blake listed off.
"Did someone say destructive sociopath?" Fidelis called getting everyone's attention. Ruby ran up to Kain a gave him a hug while Fidelis and Blake just glared at each other.
"What do you want?" Blake asked rather harshly.
Fidelis smiled under his bandanna. "Well Kain wanted to congratulate his girlfriend for y'alls win, and I had nothing better to do than come and brighten up your day. By the way, nice punch at the end there hot stuff." He said looking at Yang who smiled and raised a fist into the air. Apparently saving Ruby's life back on the ship weeks back had earned Fidelis some points in her book and they were relatively cool.
"We saw your match to, nice two on one win Fido." She said making a joke about his name and the fact that he is a canine faunus at the same time. Normally Fidelis would kick someones ass for calling him that but this was more good natured banter rather than a malicious insult. "Also I was wondering, what did Clef do to his opponent back there to take him out so quickly?"
It was true that nobody knew what Clef had done and people all over the stadium were talking about it. "No clue, never asked. Clef is one tough bastard despite how he acts, with the way that guy is it could have been anything." Fidelis answered truthfully. In all honesty, he knew next to nothing about the man, though he did know one thing. Clef was strong, so strong even Fidelis wasn't sure if he could take him in a fight. "So what are you guys doing later today?" He asked changing the topic.
"Well, our team and team SSSN don't have our first match until around this time tomorrow, so we're probably gonna go practice." Juane replied as he and his team all stood and said their goodbyes to team RWBY.
Fidelis then looked back to the four girls, and Kain who had his arms around Ruby's waist. Fidelis then smelled something in the air and looked over at another stall and grinned. "Yo kid." He said getting Kains attention. "Meet me at Lombardi's pub tonight at seven, and you girls should come to, if you don't I'll put rotten eggs into the Beacon air vents and make the entire school reek." Fidelis then turned around and walked away from the five teens and towards the stall he'd smelled.
Seven o'clock that night
Fidelis sat on a cushion on the floor in front of a large table that was very low to the ground.
"Hey Fide, I'm heading home for the night. Lock up for me later." Max, the owner of the pub, shouted to Fidelis before throwing him the keys to the place. "Oh and this place had better be in one piece when I get here tomorrow morning or I'll kill you." Fidelis just waved not really listening as he played grimm wars on his scroll.
After a few minutes the door opened and Fidelis looked up to see team RWBY and Kain walk in and make their way over to him. "We're here, now what do you want?" Kain asked suspiciously, he was now wearing his regular clothes, though Fidelis was still wearing his Nobody uniform.
"We still have two more people coming, I'll explain everything when they get here." As if on cue, the door opened and Rideat walked in followed by Velvet. "Perfect timing!" Fidelis shouted as they walked over.
"Whats up?" Rideat asked his brother as Velvet and he sat down together.
After everybody sat down Fidelis cleared his throat. "Well as many of you may know, I don't have a lot of 'friends'." He said quoting friends with his fingers. "And those that I do have are all busy. So that leaves me with my brother who hates me." He gestured to Rideat who frowned slightly. "A kid who wants nothing more than to see me dead." He gestured to Kain who was holding hands with Ruby. "And as for you four, well, I'm not really sure, but its good to have two of you here." He said chuckling.
"Anyway, I thought we could all get to know each other better tonight." Fidelis grabbed a bag next to him and pulled out eight shot glasses and three bottles of vodka. "So we're all gonna play a little game." He said as he opened up the first bottle, Rideat frowned further as he smelled the liquor.
"What kind of game?" Ruby asked looking at the bottle.
"Its an old party game called I Never. Basically we each take turns saying something that we have never done, and if you have done the thing that the person said they never did, than you have to take a drink. Simple." He say opening the other two bottles.
Ruby looked a bit wary of the liquid he poured her. "I've never drunk alcohol before she said looking at the shot glass in front of her."
Fidelis laughed. "I figured as much, thats why I brought three different types of Vodka. The type you and any of light weights, will be drinking is strawberry flavored and has a low alcohol percentage. Everyone else will drink standard Vodka, though me and Rideat will be drinking our own type. It's got a bit more of a kick to it than what you guys can probably handle." He explained to those present getting nods from all but Yang.
"Screw that, give me the heavy stuff." She said confidently causing Fidelis to smile before pulling down his bandanna.
"If you say so hot stuff." He grinned as the girl smiled at this. "Alright, if you puke, or pass out, you lose. You have to be completely truthful and the same thing can not be said twice. So who would like to start?" He asked looking at the tables lay out. Going clockwise the order was Ruby, Kain, Weiss, Blake, Yang, him, Rideat, and Velvet.
"I'll start." Kain said. Everybody poured themselves a shot and listened. "I've never played a game like this before." He said chuckling. Fidelis, Rideat, and Yang all took a shot. Ruby looked at Yang who just shrugged. "Your turn Weiss."
"This is stupid, but fine. Lets see." She thought four a moment. "I've never been intoxicated." She stated proudly, everyone but Ruby took a shot.
Blake thought for a moment as it was her turn, she looked at Fidelis and decided to try and take him out of the game first sense he was by far the heaviest drinker playing. "I've never gone hang gliding." This caused all who knew about the tragic events of that incident to flinch, except Fidelis who shrugged and took another shot.
"MY TURN!" Yang shouted looking like she was having fun. "I've never had sex." There was a short silence before both Rideat and a very red Velvet took a shot, this made Fidelis and Yang start making whooping noises.
"Rideat you dog." He said elbowing his brother.
"I'm surprised someone like you hasn't." Yang said looking at Fidelis.
Fidelis laughed. "Well I've only recently gotten into my first relationship and we're taking it slow when it comes to that stuff." He explained getting a nod from her. "Alright, my turn. I've never eaten an entire cake in one sitting." He said looking over to Rideat who he was directly targeting with that one. Surprisingly Ruby also took a shot along side Rideat, at first she looked hesitant to drink the liquid but soon realized that it actually tasted very good.
Rideat smiled knowing it was his turn to get revenge on Fidelis for that last one. "I've never accidentally gotten high on LSD, dressed up in a Victorian Atlas style womens ball gown, and broken into the natural history museum where I passed out snuggling with one of the stuff Ursa in the Grimm exhibit." He said very specifically.
Fidelis took a shot as everybody stare at him. "Hey, I was able sneak out before the police arrived in the morning." He said shrugging. "Your up bunny girl." He said to Velvet.
She shyly nodded. "I've never watched a scary movie all the way through." She said causing a couple of them to laugh as everybody but Rideat took a shot, he obviously didn't watch many movies in the first place sense he was blind.
Now it was Ruby's turn. "Okay, I've never stolen anything before." She said smiling at herself for being a good girl. Fidelis, Rideat, Blake, Kain, and Yang all took shots. This made Fidelis burst into laughter.
"Wow! Talk about walking stereotypes!" He choked out between breaths. "Four of the five thieves here are faunus." He said causing Rideat and Kain to laugh to.
They continued playing like this for another thirty minutes before the winner was crowned, Yang stood up cheering over her victory and smiling at the mixture of unconscious and totally wasted people around her. Fidelis, who had actually drank nearly twice as many shot as Yang do to the others ganging up on him, actually manage to come in third before he forfeited and went to the bathroom to puke.
The first person to lose was Weiss, who was a clear light weight. She was followed by Ruby. Then Blake and Velvet at the same time. Kain lasted longer than Fidelis thought he would before passing out. The second place winner was Rideat who finally gave in and also went to the bathroom to puke.
Fidelis poured himself a large glass of water and guzzled it down, he wanted to beat the hangover he was going to have in the morning before he got it. He looked out over all the people around lying on top of tables and in the booths, they decided it was safer to stay the night here rather than try and head home while drunk. Fidelis turned and walked into the back of the pub and went through a door that lead to the stares to the roof.
Once he was alone on the roof he propped himself against the railing on the roof and stared up at the moon. "Yo." A voice came from nearby. Fidelis turned and saw Rideat standing not to far away.
"Yo." He replied.
"You know, you didn't have to lie to get me to come here tonight. I'm as down about today as you are." Rideat said walking over and leaning against the railing a few feet away from Fidelis. "Six years today right?"
Fidelis nodded. "Yeah. Six whole years of shame. He would be disgusted by me." Fidelis answered.
"Pops always knew you had scars you know." Rideat said to his brother. "He would always tell me to do my best to watch out for you and help you out when you started to stray from the right path." He chuckled a little. "The little brother looking out for the older one. Some job I did to, if Pops is pissed or ashamed at anyone its probably me."
Fidelis didn't say anything as he continued to stare at the moon.
"I think Pops would actually be happy with you lately. You got a girlfriend who I can tell you care about, you got that kid Kain who I can tell your doing everything you can to keep him from ending up like you have. You've even made friends with Ruby and Yang." Rideat pushed himself off the railing and began to head back into the bar. "Pops isn't ashamed, if I can see your healing, he sure as hell can." Rideat closed the door behind him leaving Fidelis alone on the roof.
Fidelis felt a buzz come from his scroll and saw that it was Neo. 'Why are you on the roof?' He read before looking around and noticed she was sitting on a roof across the street.
'Why are you?' He sent back. A few seconds later there was a small flash of light and she was sitting next to him with her head on his shoulder.
They didn't say anything to each other or make any hand signs. They just sat and enjoy the silence of the night as they both drifted off to sleep.
