This is a story that I need to tell, it's been killing me since I released last chapter. No more waiting, lets see what happens next. Enjoy.
Neo stared wide eyed at the scene before her, the images not completely registering in her mind. Fidelis lied motionless upon the ground as Cinder stood smiling above him, it didn't make any sense. Tears flowed freely down her face as she continued to stare. "No..." She heard from over her shoulder, she didn't turn to look at Roman.
Roman stood mouth agape, his cigar fell from his lips to the ground. His right hand holding his cane and his left holding Mercury by the collar of his shirt as he sat unconscious. "What's wrong Roman you looked shocked, I always told you this was what happened to those who stood against me." Cinder grinned widely as she turned to look at Pyrrha who stood silently next to Ozpin, she'd only known Fidelis briefly but she could tell he wasn't as bad as he portrayed himself as, he didn't deserve to die in such a way.
Everyones attention was quickly shifted as a earth shaking roar filled the air, all eyes turned to the massive dragon flying towards them. "And now you will all share his fate." Cinder grinned even wider.
Ozpin looked at the beast headed towards them, even as Goodwitch, Qrow, and Ironwood arrived he remained still staring into the sky. "Ms. Nikos, I believe it's time you prove Amber's death meant something." He spoke finally turning towards the redhead. "Mr. Arc, evacuate any remaining students or civilians." His eyes moved to the three older hunters. "The grown ups will take this one."
Pyrrha nodded before shifting her sword into it's gun form and firing several rounds at Cinder who blocked each effortlessly, she then took off running away from the scene, Cinder quickly gave chase. The four hunters all jumped into action against the dragon and Jaune took off to find any stragglers.
All that were left behind were Neo and Roman who continued to stare at their friends body. Roman looked down at Neo who was still on her knees simply staring at his form tears falling from her face like a storm, she looked like she was trembling slightly. It was odd, he'd known the girl for years and always thought of her as just another crazy, even if she was more enjoyable to be around than most, now she just looked like a normal girl who just lost the most important thing in her life. He knew she had no family and Fidelis was the only person other than himself that she spent in substantial time with, he wasn't the sympathetic type but Fidelis was his friend and so was Neo, it hurt to see this, more than he thought it would. An explosion went off and another roar shook the ground.
"Neo, we have to go." He spoke quietly, his voice flat and even. Neo didn't move, he grit his teeth before looking at Fidelis's body once more, this wasn't how it was suppose to happen, he wasn't suppose to care this much. After staring at Fidelis for a little longer he narrowed his eyes and knelt down next to Neo grabbing her umbrella in the same hand as his cane before grabbing the girl and picking her up bridal style. "I'm sorry buddy, but I'll get her out of here for ya." He mumble as he turned from the scene with Neo's unresponsive form in his arms and began running.
Elsewhere
"How many more of these things are there?" Ruby panted as she and Weiss stood cornered by Beowulfs, they'd been fighting the monster nonstop for sometime but there didn't seem to be any end to them.
Weiss shook her head as she tried to catch her breath. "I don't know." There was a rumble from beneath them, several meter away a giant two headed snake burst from the ground, the two exhausted girls looked up at it in despair. "Ruby." Weiss called her partners name as she stood straight up. "Run away, I'll keep them busy."
"WHAT!?" Ruby screeched at the suggestion, before she could further her denial the older girl turned to to her with a serious look.
"There are to many and I'm to tired to run away myself, with your speed you can get away." She gained a soft smile. "There's no need for us both to die here." Ruby began tearing up as she gripped her weapon tighter. "I want my best friend to make it."
One of the beowulf lunged for the pair causing Weiss to push the young leader behind her and close her eyes in wait for the attack, instead however there was a crash and a shriek of pain from the grimm. Opening her eyes Weiss found a familiar figure stand atop the beowulf which now was crushed into the ground. "Sorry, but I can't allow my sister to be hurt, I did make a promise after all." The man stood straight up while adjusting his large hat and turning to the crowd of beasts that were now backing away slightly in what almost looked like fear.
"Clef?" Weiss whispered as he began radiating a visible black and red aura that set her hair on end. He raised his hands before clapping them together twice, moments later each and every grimm present exploded from the inside out sending chunks flying in all directions. As the pieces dissolved the black mist flowed towards Clef and swirled around him until he he held out his hand and all the mist moved to his palm where it quickly condense into a small black gem barely the size of a marble, second after the gem sunk down into his palm disappearing.
"I'm proud of you Weiss, Ruby, you've both come very far." He smiled ignoring the gaping mouths. He stepped closer and placed his hand on Weiss's shoulder. "Winter would be proud." Weiss quickly fainted falling forward into his arms, Ruby looked like she was about to panic when he held up his hand. "You have very special eyes child, you are meant for great things." His spoke differently from his normal eccentric self. He placed his hand upon the girls cheek and she quickly fainted as well into his arms.
He pulled both onto his shoulders as he began to walk away from the scene. "This isn't the end for either of you, you've both still got a lot ahead of you."
With Fidelis
"Come on, there's no way in hell a guy like you could be killed by something like that." A man spoke as he stood above Fidelis's body. Holding up his hand he knelt down next to Fidelis, moving his hand towards the faunus's neck he pressed it firmly against him. For several seconds he was silent, then he smiled. "Extreme aura backlash can at time cause someone to fall into an almost death like coma, especially if the flow of aura was cut off abruptly. It's a rare condition that only occurs in those with an abnormally large aura. This is why you have your limiter set to slowly seal your aura after reactivating it. Falling unconscious can earn the same result if your not prepared. I bet this very same thing happened after our last fight."
Moving his hand down to Fidelis's chest the man pulsed his aura causing electricity to surge down his arm and into Fidelis sending his body into a series of spasms. "AHH!" He screamed just before the surge ended. Grabbing his mask he ripped it from his face before falling into a violent coughing fit, moments later he vomited everything in his stomach onto the ground.
"If you would have told me that I would have saved your ass at some point about a month ago I'd have thought you were high." The man grinned as he crossed his arms.
"Your bedside manner sucks ass Ambrose, you know that?" Fidelis panted from his knees before spitting some more bile out on the ground. "Why did you help me? Your honestly pretty high on the list of people I'm pretty sure want me dead, along side that bitch who shot me and your friend the Black Death."
Joel shook his head and shrugged his shoulders. "Honestly I don't really know, maybe it's because you aren't in the Fang anymore, maybe it's because I'm feeling really forgiving today, it could be the devastated look on that girl with the umbrellas face when you went down. Who knows, but I didn't and now that your awake there's a crazy bitch that needs to be stopped, but if your to weak to fight I'm sure I can handle it on my own."
Fidelis laughed before grabbing the handle of his gunbai that laid a few feet away. "And let some trapper wash out steal all the glory, fuck that."
"Says the White Fang reject." Joel extended his pole.
Fidelis finally stood back up and rubbed his forehead looking down at his mask, the arrow struck hard, it broke through his wind barrier, aura shield and almost all the way the the titanium polymer inside his mask. It was a ridiculously close call, reaching into his pocket he pulled out a pair of vials with injectors at the bottoms. "Here, I'm pretty sure we'll need the boost."
Joel took one of the vials of blue liquid and injected it into his arm, the rush of aura into his system caused him to smile. Fidelis did the same. "So, you ready for this?"
Joel nodded. "Lets go."
With Pyrrha
Pyrrha pushed back against Cinder's fire before sending a large piece of metal towards the woman, she was giving Cinder everything she had but the two seemed to be at a stale mate. Pyrrha lacked experience with her new strength, but she was still rather fresh and rested. Cinder had the experience she lacked but was still tired from her fight with Fidelis.
Neither could get the advantage over the other. "Why are you doing this?! All this death, this chaos! What can any of it possibly achieve?!" Shouted before sending a volley of dust rounds at Cinder.
"Change, I'm going to change everything!" Cinder swiped her hand to the side forming a large wall of fire between the two, she then thrust her hand forward sending the wall forward. "This world is broken, society is corrupt!" Pyrrha threw her shield into the air and jumped up planting her feet on it and jumping off it over the wall with her spear ready.
"This isn't the way to fix it!" Cinder jumped back just in time for the tip of the spear to enter the ground where she'd stood. "People can change!"
Cinder let out a loud laugh. "A people more evil than the grimm will never change on their own."
"People aren't monsters!" Pyrrha pulled her shield back to her.
"Aren't they? Look at that faunus I killed back there, he was the product of this society of monsters! I may not know the whole story but I do know that was the way he was because of the horrors he was exposed to as a child." Cinder smiled at the scowl on Pyrrha's face.
"Knowing that you still killed him?" Pyrrha took a breath before dropping into a fighting stance once more. "Your the only monster here!"
"Naive girl, you'll die as he did." As she said the a blade flew through the air and planted itself it the ground where Cinder stood, said demi-maiden barely jumping away in time to dodge. "Who the hell-"
As Cinder looked up at the one who fire the knife at her she felt something slam into the side of her head with enough force to send her flying into the side of a nearby building easily breaking through the walls and flying out the other side. "HEY BITCH!" Fidelis shouted holding his fist in the air, aura still emanating from it. "Next time you kill someone, FINISH THE JOB!"
Okay I know what your all thinking, this was a pretty short chapter and your right. But this was mainly to set things up for next chapter which will wrap up volume three. A big thanks to my boy Mojo1586 for letting me continue to use Joel Ambrose. If you've read this far into my story and haven't already gone to check his out then shame on you. Tell me what you all think in the reviews. LATER.
