Sorry for taking so long with this chapter I hope it is good. RIP Cory.
It was approaching Christmas time and Rachel had decided that she wanted to have both Finn and her parents come over to celebrate the holidays as well as break the news to them about the baby. Her initial plan was to have them come over for thanksgiving but with work and scheduling that wouldn't have worked. It was December 23rd and their parents were going to be arriving in an hour.
"I'm not sure if we have everything ready. I have a few recipes that I can do with all the groceries I bought today but I'm not sure if it is anything that they would like." Rachel said pacing around the kitchen.
"Rachel I'm sure whatever you decide to cook they will enjoy. You need to just relax. All this stress is not good for the baby not to mention you are tiring yourself out." Finn stated rubbing the small of her back leading her to a chair. "Honey you don't need to go through so much trouble to make the perfect dinner it's all about breaking the news I'm sure they don't need anything extravagant."
"I guess you are right I won't do anything too difficult. I just want everything to be perfect." Said Rachel. "I'm sure it will be. So is the plan to still tell them over dinner or do you have something else in mind?" Finn asked.
"I don't know, I want to do it at dinner but I feel like it will happen before then."
"It will all happen when the time is right but for now we need to go get our parents." Finn said.
They took the train over to the airport and waited for the plane to land. When the time came around they stood at the baggage claim waiting for their parents when they saw them turn the corner. Carol went running straight for Rachel while the men claimed their baggage.
"Oh my goodness I am so happy to see you! We've missed you so much! How has everything been?" she said asking Rachel while hugging Finn.
"Rachel, Finn it is so good to see you. It has been so long." Hiram said while hugging the two of them.
By the time they had all caught up they were already back at the apartment. Rachel and Carol started working on dinner while the men sat in the living room talking. By the time dinner was ready Rachel could feel herself starting to get nervous when Finn came up behind her and told her that everything was going to be ok.
"Finn how has the first few months of school been for you?" Burt asked Finn while sitting at the dinner table eating dinner.
"Actually it is really good. I have a great bunch of students this year. They have so much potential and they are so enthusiastic." Finn said very proudly.
"I'm so glad to hear that!" Carol chimed in.
"So how has work been treating you?" LeRoy asked Rachel.
"Um well actually I have decided to take some time off of Broadway." Rachel answered.
"Oh no why did you decide to take time off." Carol asked.
"Well actually Finn and I thought it would be a good idea if I took time off because of all the cheography." Rachel exclaimed.
"Well since when has that ever been an issue for you?" Hiram asked.
"Well," Rachel paused and looked over at Finn who then squeezed her knee giving her the ok. "A little while ago Finn and I discovered something." She got up and handed Carol an envelope. When she opened it she found an ultrasound photo. The look on her face when she realized what it was priceless.
"Oh my goodness Rachel, You're pregnant! That's amazing! I'm going to be a grandmother." Carol cheered and ran over to her and hugged them both.
"Oh my goodness this is fantastic news. I am so proud of the both of you." Burt said.
"How far along are you honey?" LeRoy asked. "I'm almost four months. I am almost done my first trimester. It seems like things are moving so quickly." Rachel gleamed.
"So this is why you insisted on us coming over for the holidays. This is great news you two must be so excited." Hiram said.
For the rest of the evening all the adults could talk about was how happy and excited they were.
Thank you guys for bearing with me and waiting so patiently for this chapter. I know it's been a while but I hope you liked this chapter. RIP Cory we miss you.
