I have no excuse for the long wait other than what I've already said. Enjoy.
"WE'RE ON THE HIGHWAY TO HELL! HIGHWAY TO HELL!" Fidelis sang from his spot on top of the high speed bullhead soaring over the frozen mountain range of Mantle.
"What the hell is he doing?" Joel asked from inside the bullhead, Fidelis's mask was feeding his audio through the speaker of the ship. After receiving the emergency message from Jin, Fidelis had made a quick stop to drop off Pyrrha who had not so subtlety, nearly set him on fire with her maiden powers, asked him to take her home when he explain exactly what was happening to Jin. As of yet he hadn't informed Joel who he had drugged and dragged on board. Needless to say he wasn't happy which lead to Fidelis climbing onto the roof of the air ship.
"Singing ACDC, I've heard that insanity is one of the final stages of hypothermia and at this altitude in this climate, not to mention the wind speeds, it's likely below zero up there and he's been up there for nearly half a day." Jude responded without looking back at the former trapper.
Joel sighed before grabbing the radio and raising it to his mouth. "Dingo, if you stop fuckin singing I won't use my semblance to explode your testicles like I threaten." Joel spoke while pinching the bridge of his nose.
There was silence for several seconds. "You promise?" Fidelis's voice came over the radio.
"Yes I promise."
There was the sound of movement from the roof and the side hatch opened letting in a wave of below freezing air. Fidelis pulled himself in and closed the hatch behind him, surprisingly he wasn't shivering at all. "So Jude, how far are we f-" He was interrupted by a knee slamming into his crotch causing him to double over in pain.
"I never said I wouldn't kick you. That's for kidnapping me asshole." Joel crossed his arms and sat down while Fidelis continued to hold his manhood in pain.
"So Jude." Fidelis squeaked. "How far are we from our destination?" Pain was clear in his voice as he asked the question.
"Ten minutes. We're currently being hail actually, their asking for verification." Jude responded.
"Give me the mic." Fidelis forced himself to his feet and hobbled over quickly grabbing the mic. "Though the night may be long and the rain may chill our bones, we continue our eternal Vigil. The flame in our hearts burns hotter than any blizzard, with our brothers we stand." Fidelis recited into the mic before handing it back to Jude.
After several seconds Jude spoke up. "They just gave us the green light to land, prepare to exit."
The hatch on the side of the ship opened once again and the two former enemies prepared to jump. "You never told me where we're going or who we're dealing with." Joel pointed out.
"You ever heard of the Gray Sentinels?" Fidelis asked without actually looking at the former trapper.
"The Elite group of veteran huntsmen and huntresses from across the globe? Everyone's heard of them, why?" Joel raised an eyebrow at the question.
"I may be familiar with the grandmaster of their order." Fidelis told the now skeptical looking teen.
"Really?" Joel crossed his arms. "You know the grandmaster of an incredibly famous and well respected order of hunters? A group who would turn you in for your crimes the moment they laid eyes on you."
"Yeah, he's a crazy old bastard, strong as hell to." Fidelis ignored the clear skepticism in his tone.
Instead of responding Joel just shook his head. "I've got a really bad feeling about this."
"Let's go." Fidelis ignored him again before jumping quickly followed by Joel.
Elsewhere
Roman watched as Neo spun around and looked herself over in the mirror of the dress shop, she'd been trying of wedding dresses for nearly an hour and was on her eighth dress. Roman on the other hand was on his fifth cigar, the shop owners were keeping well clear of the pair knowing who Roman was, only helping when asked. Fidelis had paid the store off so they could shop in peace.
Neo waved at Roman gaining his attention before flipping her hands through several signs, she'd only recently learned the famous criminal was fluent in the art of sign language. 'How do I look in this one?' She asked giving him a spin earning a groan from the master thief.
"Neo, my answer is the same as the last seven, you look amazing." He took a deep drag from his cigar finishing it off.
Neo gave him a pout before flipping more signs. 'I know but amazing isn't good enough. I want to look perfect for him on our day.'
Roman couldn't help but chuckled slightly earning a blushing and angry looking Neo. "Neo, when you first told me you were interested in Fido I thought it was a joke. When you told me you two were dating I was worried for your safety. When you told me you loved him I thought you were just confused about your own feelings." Roman explained earning a tilted head and slightly narrowed eyes from the mute. "But after I got a chance to see how you two look at each other I know I was wrong. I may not know much of anything about love, but I do know that he loves you and you love him. If you showed up at the alter wearing stitched together garbage bags he probably wouldn't even noticed because he'd be so focused on you." He continued earning a smiled from the short girl as well as a small amount of tears. "My point is that your dress doesn't matter, to him you'll be the most gorgeous woman alive regardless."
Neo wiped her eyes while smiling widely, then she gave the master thief a nod. Roman smiled at the little psychopath, then his smile became a sly grin. "Beside, the dress is only gonna end up in a pile on your bedroom floor on your wedding night."
This reignited the massive blush on Neo's face as she quickly spun around and stormed into the changing room.
With Fidelis
"Yeah, this is about what I expected." Joel said with his hands in the air next to Fidelis who was doing the same. Surrounding the pair were sixteen Gray Sentinels, each with a unique weapon drawn and pointed at them.
"I'm here to see Frost, tell him Abraham's son wants to speak to him." Fidelis called out to the group of hunters.
None of the hunters replied though one in the back did pull out a scroll, within minutes the one who made the call raised his hand for everyone to lower their weapons and approached the duo. "Grandmaster Frost asked whether you are Rideat or Fidelis." The older man asked as he stepped forward.
"Rideat." Fidelis lied.
"Very well, follow closely and don't wonder off." The man ordered before turning and leading the through the large metal gate. The two followed the man as told all the way to a large metal structure built in a similar style to an old viking long house, stopping in front the man turned to them. "Master Frost is waiting inside, you will need to wait out here." He looked to Joel.
"Don't worry, this won't take to long." Fidelis elbowed his arm before grabbing the door handle and pulling it open and quickly entering the building leaving Joel outside alone with the man who lead them there. He stood there quietly for nearly a minute before Fidelis came flying out through the door turning it to splinters. "The fuck was that for gramps?!" Fidelis shouted from the pile of snow he slammed into.
"For not calling or visiting for ten years and then showing up uninvited and lying about who you were you dumbass!" A very large old man with a thick white beard. "And I suppose that Jin fellow we caught last week was sent here by you as well. I should have known it was you, Rideat would've at least called to tell me he was dropping by, maybe he would've brought that cute little Velvet girl with him." The old man hefted a very large axe onto his shoulder. "To think one of my own grand children could grow up to be a world wide infamous criminal, what would Abraham think."
Fidelis picked himself up and brushed some snow off of him. "He'd be turning in his grave, but that not the point. Where's Jin?"
"Over here!" A voice shouted earning the three's attention. Several dozen yards away they could see Jin hanging upside down by his feet over a camp fire, every few seconds he would bend backwards or forwards in a manner resembling crunches, if he didn't it was likely the fire would burn either his chest or back, both of which were bare.
"Oh hey Jin, looking good man." Fidelis waved after noticing the much more defined muscles along his body.
"Get me out of here Captain!" Jin begged.
Fidelis ignored him before turning back towards the old man, Joel by now had move over towards Fidelis, weapon in hand. "This guy is your grandpa?"
"Not really, he's my adoptive dad's uncle. Taught my old man how to fight and helped teach me and Rideat." Fidelis replied before looking back to the old man. "Gramps, I came here to ask you for help, will you hear me out?" He shout to the old man.
Instead of replying Frost raised his hand to his black cloak with golden edgings and pulled it off. Stabbing his axe into the ground he hung his cloak on the axe before also removing his white button up dress shirt and hanging it on the axe as well. "Before I hear anything you have to say, you need to be punished for all the trouble you've caused these past few years." He cracked his fingers and then his neck.
"I was scared he'd say that." Fidelis surprised Joel by actually sounding nervous. "Well J, time to get wrecked by and old man." He looked to Joel before pulling off his coat as well.
With Rideat
"So, how do I look?" Rideat asked as he straightened his tie.
"Handsome." Velvet answered as she got up and fixed his suit jacket. "I wish I could see you in a suit more often actually." She giggled.
"Eh, suits aren't really my thing." He shrugged as he took a seat in the changing room while Velvet began changing into her brides maid dress, she didn't bother kicking him out sense he was blind. It had taken her a while to get use to him not being able to see and still found herself getting slightly embarrassed whenever he'd accidentally walk in on her naked, but after long enough she became comfortable.
"I can't believe your brother is getting married and wants me to be a brides maid, I've never even met this girl." Velvet commented while pulling the zipper on her dress up. "Other than that time she popped in on us." A small blush grew on her face at the memory.
"It's probably because she doesn't know a lot of other women." Rideat fidgeted in the suit for a moment. "But you're right, Fide's getting married, I never thought the day would come. I wonder what kind of girl the is to have tamed that maniac."
"We'll just have to wait and see." Velvet chirped as she finished putting her dress. "So, how do I loo-... oh yeah." She slapped herself on the forehead as Rideat started laughing.
With Fidelis
"Ah! Now that was a good work out." Frost put his hands on his hips and let out a long hearty laugh, laying on the ground several feet away were the battered and beaten forms of both Fidelis and Joel. The area around them was destroyed, large chunks of the ground were ripped up and craters littered the place, a hole in the metal gate could be seen being repaired already by several men. It looked like a warzone. The two laid groaning in agony as the old man walked over to them. "What was it that you wanted to ask me about Fidelis my boy?"
The groaning form of Fidelis reached into his pocket and pulled out two envelopes. "Just take these and read them you crazy old bastard." His voice was filled with both pain and exhaustion.
Frost walked over and took the two envelopes and ripped open the first. "So Oz is dead and everything is going to shit huh, and you say you've got a girl with half the Fall maiden's power."
"I don't even want to know how you know about the maidens." Fidelis commented from the ground.
"Boy I've known about the maiden longer than you've been alive. Fine I'll help you out, I'll have a couple of my teams on stand by, now what's this other one?" The sound of paper ripping could be heard by the dingo faunus.
"I hate you so fucking much you stupid canine." Joel growled from next to him.
"What else is new?" Fidelis snapped back.
"YOU'RE GETTING MARRIED!" The old man shouted before letting out a loud bout of laughter again. "Come inside and tell me about her my boy!" Frost said as he turned and began walking towards the compound once again.
Fidelis and Joel however didn't move and instead just continued to groan in pain.
Next chapter is the wedding and hopefully it won't be six months away, seriously I can't even begin to express my self loathing over keeping you all waiting this long. Leave me a review and tell me what you all think. LATER.
