Volume 5 is right around the corner so I figured I might as well go ahead and write up this wedding so I'll be ready to continue on with the story when it comes out. As you all I know wasn't the hugest fan of Volume 4, hopefully 5 will be a lot better and have more meat to it. Enjoy.
"How do I look, know don't tell me." Fidelis straightened his tie. "No forget that tell me, but lie. No the truth, no lie, shit no. SAY SOMETHING! HOW DO I LOOK?" Fidelis screamed at the only other person in the room, Rideat. "Well?"
The blind faunus could only sigh and shake his head. "You know, when we were kids, I never thought I'd ever see you this nervous about something." Rideat chuckled from his spot leaning against the wall. "Fide chill, I'm sure you look great." As he said this the door to the dressing room opened up and in walked Frost.
"Fidelis my boy, you look terrible." The older man spoke before walking over to the dingo and grabbed the tie of his tuxedo, tightening it he then straightened his collar. "There we go, now you look slightly more presentable. I must say I'm surprised by how beautiful of a wedding this is. An old lighthouse on the coast of Mistral is an odd place to hold it but I can't fault the beauty of the scenery. The way the cliff we're on over looks the ocean perfectly."
"Yeah well, I spent a fortune on this place. This light house isn't actually a part of the kingdom of Mistral, during the great war this light house, the beach, the cliff and about two hundred feet of the land heading inland were deemed neutral ground and used as meeting points for opposing commanders to negotiate surrenders or trades." Fidelis explained.
"Why go through the trouble, why not just rent out a church?" Rideat raised an eyebrow.
"That actually quite clever lad." Frost laughed as he picked up on the reason.
Fidelis looked to Rideat. "Me, my bride, and about eighty percent of the guests are wanted criminals. Sense this land isn't owned by any kingdom, no huntsmen, law enforcement, Gray Sentinel, or Sable Judge has the jurisdiction to try and arrest anyone here." He explained to his brother.
"There's a Sable Judge here?" Rideat sound surprised that a member of such a well respected order would be caught dead anywhere near a gathering like this.
"Yeah, his names Hector, nice guy. He owes me after helping him with some hurt guy and his pregnant wife, he's the one acting as the priest and officiating our marriage." Fidelis smiled slightly at the memory. Sable Judge's were tough son's of bitches, that sable energy of theirs was terrifying to most aura users, but Fidelis loved the challenge. Unfortunately today wasn't about fighting, it was something far more important. "Holy shit I'm getting married." His breathing sped up as he remembered where he was.
"Fidelis my boy, get a hold of yourself!" Frost grabbed his grandsons shoulders, Fidelis looked up at the older man with a small amount of fear in his eyes, the same fear he'd seen in plenty of men before. "Let me ask you something son, do you love this girl?"
Fidelis couldn't stop the tiny blush from forming on his face, he hate talking about this kind of thing in front of others. "Yeah."
"Can you see yourself happy without her?" He continued.
Fidelis thought about the question, he'd only known Neo a little under a year now and already he honestly see his life without her. It was hard to imagine waking up without her clinging to his side. "No."
"Would you be willing to die for her." The answer came instantly.
"Yes." Fidelis didn't hesitate.
"Then calm down, today will be one of the greatest days of your life." Frost smiled. "Now come on, the ceremony should be starting soon and you wouldn't want your bride to enter to an empty alter would you?"
Fidelis took a deep breath and nodded before making his way out of his dressing room and down the stairs of the light house, Frost and Rideat walking not far behind him. After exiting the light house he saw the group of about thirty people sitting in rows on either side of a small path that lead to a small arch near the edge of the cliff. Standing under the arch was a man dress head to toe in heavy plate armor, a large sword was strung across his back. Walking down the aisle he could still feel his grandfather and brother behind him. "Judge Hector." Fidelis smiled after reaching the arch, Frost and Rideat took their places to his side.
"Captain Fidelis, it's good to see you again, and even better to meet under such... innocent circumstances." The young Judge gave a small tilt of his head in respect.
Fidelis laughed at this before looking out at all the faces present. Joel, Skoll, Kyzal, his buddy Zerath that he'd met a few years back and would sell dust weapons and intel to from time to time. Both surprisingly and unsurprisingly Clef had made it, his fiance Winter Schnee was at his side looking uncomfortable being surrounded by so many criminals without her weapons. He'd had Joel confiscate any weapons before showing the guests to their seats, some had relinquished their weapons easier than others, but Fidelis had made it clear that there would be no fighting today. Any grudges or duties were to be left at the door for today.
In the very back row he could see his biological younger sister Serenity and surprisingly enough his biological father. If he was absolutely honest he didn't hate the man like he hated his biological mother, he did at one point but after learning that she'd lied to him about having a miscarriage he knew he couldn't completely blame the man. He hadn't expected him to join Serenity when he sent Jude to pick her up for the wedding. Said pilot was also in the crowd.
All his thoughts came to a screeching halt the moment music started playing and the light house door opened, the first to walk out were Velvet and Pyrrha wearing matching red dresses, they quickly made their way up to the arch and took their spots to the opposite side of Rideat and Frost. Then finally they exited the light house.
Neo wore a pure white wedding dress with frills from the waist down, it was strapless and only dragged behind her slightly. At her side stood Roman wearing a tuxedo as well, his signature bowler hat on his head. Neo held onto his arm as they walked down the aisle, Fidelis could see tears falling from her cheeks as they approached.
Upon reaching the arch way Roman knelt down and gave the girl a quick hug and a smile before taking his seat. Then Hector began to speak. "Welcome all to this most joyous of occasions, for we gather here today to watch as these two young lovers are forever bound in the holy pact of matrimony. As we all know, life in this world is often difficult and short which is why it is all to important to take those you love and hold them close to your heart, for we never no when we'll lose them. Fidelis, I believe you have your own vows." The young Judge looked to the faunus who never broke eye contact with the girl before him.
"Yes." He nodded and cleared his throat. "My entire life, I've made mistakes. I killed, lied, stolen, and so much more. I've rarely ever felt love in my life, my mother, my father, maybe even my little brother. I never realized until very recently that when I fought, that rush I got in the heat of battle, it was just something I used to get over the loneliness. Then I met an odd ice cream obsessed girl who broke me out of a Vale police interrogation room. I didn't know it then, but that was when my life changed, I met my best friend and the girl I now love. I have a lot of things in my life, but falling in love with you will never be one of them. I swear upon everything I am, I will never leave your side. Even if all the nations of the world stood against you, I will happily stand their next to you." As he said this Neo began openly sobbing though the smile never left her face.
"Fidelis, do you take Neo to be your lawfully wedded wife?" Hector asked the man.
"I do." His voice was stern and confident.
"And Neo, do you take Fidelis to be your lawfully wedded husband?" Neo nodded her head vigorously and she wiped the tears from her eyes.
Hector looked out over the crowd. "Now if anyone have a reason why these two should not be wed, speak now or forever hold your piece." After several seconds of silence the judge nodded. "Then by the power vested in me as a minor judge of the Sable Order of Mistral, I pronounce you man and wife. You may now kiss the bride." After this the two embraced in a long kissed accompanied by thunderous applause from the crowd. "Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Fidelis Rafale Dente."
Later
Music boomed in the air as the group of wedding goers danced and drank, alcohols of all kinds were being served. Clef had taken center stage with an electric guitar he hadn't brought with him and began on what was now a five minute guitar solo. Zerath had surprisingly sparked up a friendly conversation with Jude. Frost was regaling Joel, Pyrrha, and Winter with stories of his exploits over the decades. Rideat had decided to introduce himself to Fidelis's biological father and daughter, Velvet was at his side of course.
Kyzal had managed to rope Skoll, Jin, and several other guests into a drinking contest. Everybody else were just enjoying themselves on the dance area. Fidelis and Neo had separated since the ceremony, were sitting on the grass watching the party happily, Neo was lying back into Fidelis's lap. "Did you ever imagine we'd be here today?" Fidelis asked his now wife. Neo shook her head. "As much as I hate that bitch, if she hadn't strong armed Adam into helping her I never would have met you. So I'll give her credit for that." He laughed.
"Mr. Fidelis." Fidelis looked up to see who called his name, an eyebrow raised at who he saw. A white fang grunt in full uniform stood several feet away.
"Sup?" Fidelis asked not recognizing the man, his arms slowly moving around Neo in case the Fang had something planned for him.
"I was ordered to deliver this to you." The man reached into his pocket and withdrew and envelope.
Fidelis held out his hand and took the envelope quickly opening it and reading it.
'Fide
You're an idiot and I don't know what you're planning but good luck. I can't follow your path right now, but I'll trust that you were telling the truth when you said you hadn't betrayed me. I'm not sure what to think right now, between you and Blake, I just don't know. Congratulations on your wedding man, wish I could've been there. -Adam'
Fidelis smiled as he reread the letter before storing in his shirt. "Thanks buddy, grab a drink before you head out. I'm sure Taurus ordered you to return right after you delivered it. Tell him I forced you." The grunt nodded before walking away.
Fidelis looked down at the girl in his lap and noticed that she'd fallen asleep at some point, wrapping his arms around her he pulled her closer. "I'll never let you go." He whispered.
Elsewhere
In the shadow of the trees not far from the party going on sat a lone figure holding a pair of binoculars, a large smile on his face as he watched the people dance and drink. His smile grew even wider when he noticed a certain dingo off on the edges of the crowd with his bride. "Tonight is a very bad night to try anything." A voice spoke up from next to the figure startling them and causing them to lash out with bladed arms. Clef held up a single hand and caught the blades. "Tyrian right?"
"You, you're our goddesses brother." The scorpion withdrew his blades and gave a light bow. "My apologies for that, you startled me." Clef merely waved it off. "If I remember correctly, you said you hadn't taken that mans side. So why do you stand in my way, if I may ask?" The normally insane man asked more seriously than usual.
Clef chuckled, it would seem that this mans respect and admiration for his sister earn him a bit as well. "I haven't chosen sides, this is still true. But tonight is a sacred night for those two." He gestured in the direction of Fidelis and Neo. Tyrian looked through his binoculars again, as he scanned the crowd once again he noticed something odd. Clef was still on stage playing guitar. "All I ask is that you give them twenty four hours to enjoy themselves. Give them that and you'll have my thanks."
Tyrian sighed lowering the binoculars from his eye. "Very we-" He stopped when he turned his head and found Clef had vanished. "Twenty four hours." He said to himself before jumping to the forest floor and walking deep into the trees.
