It seemed like a matter of minutes during the travel between the Earth Kingdom village and Crescent Island. Natasha was trying to regain her memory from that world. She already knew she was and Airbender, she already knew she was Aang's older sister… but something was still missing. How did she get the Earthbending student clothes? How did she wind up in the Southern Water Tribe after a hundred years, and without aging at all?
Natasha was so caught up in her thoughts that she was caught by surprise when she found herself, Katara, and Sokka chained to the pillar. Having seen this episode and knowing that Aang would save them, she allowed her mind to wander.
I need to tell Aang, she thought, but at the right time. I can't go without telling him for too long, or…
Her thoughts were interrupted by the doors to the chamber bursting open, and the spirit of Avatar Roku attacking the sages, Zhao, and Zuko.
The building got set on fire. Aang exited the Avatar State and collapsed to the ground.
"We need to get out of here," Natasha blurted out before anyone could say anything.
They tried to find a way out, but every path was blocked by debris.
"There's no way out!" Katara exclaimed.
At that moment, Appa appeared.
"Come on!" Natasha said. They climbed onto Appa, and Natasha yelled, "Yip yip!"
They flew off on Appa, leaving the temple to burn.
Natasha looked back at the temple. "Well…" she said, "Another one bites the dust."
"What?" Aang said, cocking his head to the side.
"Oh, nothing," Natasha shrugged her shoulders.
You need to tell him right now, Natasha thought.
No! Not now!
Yes, now! Are you insane, Tasha? How come you haven't told him yet—?
It's not the right time!
"Natasha? Hello?" Sokka said.
"Huh?" Natasha shook her head. "Sorry, I just got… preoccupied."
Sokka smirked. "Did you wet yourself again?"
"Sokka, I swear, if you mention that again I'm going to—"
"Okay! Nobody is going to hurt anyone!" Katara stated at Natasha. "Right, Natasha?"
Natasha sighed. "Fine,"
They stopped somewhere in the Earth Kingdom to rest for the night. Natasha couldn't sleep; she was still deep in thought.
Natasha sat up and whispered, "Aang?"
Aang yawned and said, "Yeah?"
Natasha came a little closer. "What was your sister like?" She asked this to see if he could figure out it was her on his own.
"Well…" he sat up. "She was really tall, her hair was long and brown… depending on the lighting of the room, her eyes would change color. But most of the time, they were green. Also…" He chuckled quietly, "she had a bad temper. She struggled with a lot of the Airbending stuff because of it."
Natasha lowered her voice. "Do you remember her name?"
Aang sighed. "I can never figure out her name…"
"Oh," Natasha said.
Sokka groaned. "Stop talking! I'm trying to sleep!"
Natasha threw a stick at him, hitting him in the head.
"OW!" Sokka yelled.
"Guys, can you be quiet?" Katara said.
Natasha sighed. "Good night."
o.O.o
Two weeks passed, and they were deep in the forest.
"Where's Momo?" Aang said after he noticed the lemur's absence.
"Mmr!"
Momo was in a cage hanging from a tree.
"Momo!" Aang said, "I'm coming!" He used his Airbending to free the lemur from the cage.
Sokka looked at the cage. "These are Fire Nation traps," he determined, "We need to get out of here,"
Aang, Natasha, and Katara began to pack their things onto Appa.
"Uh uh. No flying." Sokka said.
"What?" Aang said, confused, "Why wouldn't we fly?"
"Think about it: Somehow, Prince Zuko and the Fire Nation keep finding us. It's because they spot Appa; he's just too noticeable." Sokka said.
"What? Appa's not too noticeable!" Katara said.
(Natasha just observed the conversation.)
Sokka pointed dramatically at Appa. "He's a gigantic fluffy monster with an arrow on his head! It's kinda hard to miss him!"
Aang, sitting on Appa's head, said, "Sokka's just jealous 'cause he doesn't have an arrow."
"I know you all wanna fly, but my instincts tell me we should play it safe and walk this time."
Aang jumped down from Appa's head, using Airbending to smooth his landing. "I think if we should trust anyone's instincts, it should be Natasha's."
Natasha looked up. "My instincts are inconclusive."
"Besides, who made you the boss?" Katara said to Sokka.
"I'm not the boss; I'm the leader." Sokka declared.
Katara laughed. "You're the leader? But your voice still cracks!"
"If anyone should be the leader, it should be Aang," Natasha said, "He is the Avatar."
"No! Aang's just a goofy kid!" Sokka said.
Aang, now hanging from a tree branch from his legs, said, "You're right."
Sokka sighed. "We're walking, and that's that!"
So the Gaang walked through the forest, and after a few hours, they realized they had gone in a circle.
"Great!" Natasha said, "Now we're lost!"
"Thanks to Sokka's 'instincts'," Katara said.
"Do you think we should fly now?" Aang asked.
"I don't know. Ask Sokka's instincts," Natasha said.
So, jokingly, Aang said, "Hey, Sokka's instincts, should we fly now?"
"Hey, Sokka's instincts," Natasha said, "Ask me if I've seen the abominable snowman."
Aang, mimicking 'Sokka's instincts', said, "Natasha, have you seen the abominable snowman?"
"Not yeti," Natasha said.
Aang and Katara laughed, while Sokka looked annoyed. "Hey, Natasha's instincts, do you have a better idea?!"
"My instincts are still stumped," Natasha said.
"Then we walk!" Sokka declared. "Once we're farther away from here, we'll start—" They walked right into a Fire Nation camp.
"Well, this is just great!" Natasha said.
The Fire Nation soldiers attacked, and Natasha used the skills she learned from the Kyoshi Warriors to fight them off. But it wasn't good enough.
Suddenly, a group of kids came down from the trees and started helping them.
Natasha smiled. It's Jet and the Freedom Fighters! Even though Jet was kind of a jerk in the series, Natasha always had a soft spot for him.
After the Fire Nation soldiers were chased off, Natasha caught her breath and looked at Jet.
"You actually looked like you knew what you were doing," Jet said to her. He turned around and said to the others, "What brings you here?"
"We were relying on instincts," Katara said, eyeing her brother.
"You'll get killed doing that," Jet replied.
Natasha looked at Jet, and she felt butterflies in her stomach.
Yep. I'm getting a crush on Jet.
A/N: Tee hee hee. Hope you enjoyed! :D
