When they arrived to the Freedom Fighters' hideout, Natasha became overwhelmed by the sight of it. This definitely looks a lot cooler in person.
At dinner, Jet stood before everyone and congratulated them on their victory that day. Natasha, who hadn't eaten in days, devoured everything on her plate—and went for seconds.
That night, Natasha lay awake once again; this time, on a comfy bed in the Freedom Fighters' hideout. She had been able to sleep for the past two weeks—she didn't know why she couldn't sleep now.
So she stood up and got a breath of fresh air outside. She wasn't able to see anything—that is, until she saw a light a few feet away from her.
"Natasha?" Jet was the one holding the torch. "What are you doing awake?"
"I'm a night-owl." Natasha said. By the look of Jet's face, he didn't understand. So Natasha said, "You know that owls are always up at night, right?"
"Oh!" Jet said, "I get it now."
"Yeah, so I thought I would try to make myself tired so I'd fall asleep." Natasha shrugged her shoulders.
Jet smiled and said, "You can keep watch with me if you'd like,"
"Uh… yeah, of course," The butterflies in her stomach returned.
They climbed to the very top of the tallest tree and looked out at the forest.
"See the village over there?" Jet asked. Natasha nodded. "That village is controlled by the Fire Nation. We're going to eliminate the Fire Nation soldiers in that village tomorrow… would you like to join us?"
Natasha shifted her eyes over and saw the water dam, then looked back at the village. "You're going to flood the village, aren't you?"
Jet looked at her with a confused look. "How did you know that?"
"Well, if you were to wipe out an entire village that would be an obvious choice, since the dam's right there." Natasha said. "Are you going to kill the Earth Kingdom villagers, too?"
"Well, we have to," Jet declared, "What other way is there? The Fire Nation killed my family!"
"But if you kill tons of innocent people…" Natasha said, "…you're no better than them."
Jet sighed. "You have a point… but how else will we get rid of the Fire Nation?"
"I know you can think of another way," Natasha smiled. She yawned.
"Tired at last?" Jet said with a chuckle.
"I'm getting there," Natasha said, smiling. "Good night, Jet." She gave him a kiss on the cheek, and then went to climb down from the tree.
"Wait," Jet said.
"Yeah?" Natasha said.
"Um… never mind, good night,"
"Jet," Natasha climbed back up and gave him a kiss on the lips. "Is that better?"
Jet blushed, "Yeah, I guess… no one was looking, right?"
Natasha giggled. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure."
o.O.o
When Natasha went back to her room and finally fell asleep, she had another flashback.
This time, she was standing in the middle of an Earth Kingdom city. People bustled through the streets, trying to get to work or home or wherever they had to be. She stuck out like a sore thumb in her Air Nomad clothing. Her hair had gotten tangled and dirty from the apparent three days she spent in the desert. Finally, she realized where she was: the lower class of Ba Sing Se.
Natasha remembered missing Aang, missing her home, and wanting her childhood back. But that wasn't an option now.
She went into an inn and said to the cashier, "I'd like a room please."
"I'm sorry," the cashier said, "We're all booked."
"What?" Natasha sighed. "What other hotels are there?"
"There's one about five blocks from here. Be careful, sweetheart,"
Natasha smiled and said, "Thank you."
She walked through the streets for a while before she found the hotel the cashier had talked about.
"I'd like a room please," Natasha said, pulling out the money she had.
"That'll be… three gold coins." The cashier of this hotel said.
"Um… I have three silver coins and a gold coin…" Natasha knew it wouldn't be enough.
"Uh, uh, three gold coins."
Natasha sighed, "I can't do that… thanks anyway, though."
So she spent that night on the street, with no blanket or pillow.
That morning, Natasha woke up, took her glider and flew to the upper class of Ba Sing Se. She used two coins, a silver and gold one, to buy Earth Kingdom clothing—the student clothing. Many times she was mistaken for an Earthbender, and corrected them by using Airbending.
Everything began to change. Natasha found work at a tea shop in the middle class. After nearly three months on the streets, she finally was able to buy a home—a rather small one, but anything helped. Suddenly, a year passed… then two years… then four… and finally, Natasha turned 16-years-old. She cut her hair (which had gotten very long at that point) until it felt like she had lost ten pounds off her head.
Then, present-time Natasha woke up.
Aw, darn! Natasha thought, groaning.
o.O.o
Natasha hoped Jet had thought about what she said. She spent most of the morning and afternoon with Aang, helping out with the plan—what ever it was.
"Natasha?" Aang said in the afternoon, "Are you at all suspicious of Jet?"
"I am," Natasha confessed. "But… we talked last night, and I really hope he changed his mind about this plan."
Aang's eyes widened. "He's going to flood the town…"
Katara appeared as if from nowhere. "Jet wouldn't do that."
(Natasha would have liked to believe that, too.)
"I have to stop them!" Aang took his glider and flew to the dam.
Natasha looked back at Katara.
"Jet wouldn't do that," Katara said to Natasha.
"Yes, I would," Jet said, emerging from the forest.
"Why?" Katara asked.
"The Fire Nation took your mother," he said, "It's about time they get a taste of their own medicine."
Natasha turned around just in time to watch the dam break and flood the town.
"Jet, you monster!" Katara yelled. She used her Waterbending to freeze him to a tree.
Natasha started to scream, "JET, YOU SON OF A—"

As they flew away on Appa, Sokka kept laughing.
"Seriously, Natasha, I didn't know you had that in you!" Sokka remarked. "I could hear you from the village!"
"Oh, shut up!" Natasha said.
"Natasha, just be glad Sokka got them all out in time." Katara said.
"That's not why I'm mad,"
Sokka gasped dramatically. "I knew you had a thing with Jet!"
"Shut up!" Natasha said again.
o.O.o
"I'm hungry," Natasha said as she woke up.
"You're always hungry, Natasha," Sokka said.
"Hey! I'm a growing girl!"
"We need money," Aang said.
They traveled to an Earth Kingdom town, looking for work. A fisherman offered Sokka a job of helping him during his next fishing trip—even though a storm was coming.
The fisherman looked at Aang for a little bit and asked, "Are you the Avatar?"
"Yes," Aang said.
"I must ask you something… why did you turn your back on the world?"
Aang stood there, looking guilty. Finally, he took his glider and flew away into the mountains.
