A/N: I'm so sorry it took so long to get this chapter up! I've been dealing with a lot of stuff and I've been in school. This episode ("Lake Laogai") had already gone far, far away from canon. Don't kill me please ;-; Enjoy!
After finding Lake Laogai, Natasha checked the scene.
"All clear," she said, finding her way into the secret hide-out.
"Natasha?" Jet said, "Can I ask you something?"
"Can it wait until after we find Appa?" Natasha said.
And she truly believed it could. She promised herself that she wouldn't let Jet die— not now, not as long as she could stand it.
"Jet," Natasha said, "Do you know where the bigger cell they're holding Appa in is?"
"Should be this way," Jet said. "And how did you—"
"Airbending, spiritual stuff— I'll explain it all later."
"Wait, Airbending?"
"I already said," Natasha said irritably, "I'll. Explain. Later."
Jet opened a door. The room was dark at first, then the lights turned on, revealing the Dai Li agents surrounding them.
"Now that's something different," Sokka said.
Long Feng was looking at them. "You have made yourselves enemies of the state. Take them into custody."
A fight ensued. Toph made a rock wall and raised the ground up.
Aang held two of them off with Airbending. "Long Feng is escaping!"
Jet was about to follow Aang to chase after him, but Natasha grabbed his shoulder. "No," she said, "Let me do this."
"Natasha—"
She gave him a quick kiss on the lips and said, "I'll be right back."
She and Aang ran after Long Feng until they were sealed into another part of the headquarters.
"Alright, Avatar," he said, "You've caused me enough problems. This is your last chance… if you want your bison,"
"Natasha was right!" Aang said, "You do have Appa! Tell me where he is!"
"Agree to exit the city now, and I'll waive all charges against you and allow you to leave with your lost pet,"
Natasha got into a fighting position. "How about no," she said.
"Oh?" Long Feng looked at Natasha in the eyes.
He's gonna try to brainwash me!
"Natasha," he said, "The Earth King has—"
"OVER MY DEAD BODY, LONG FENG!" Natasha used Airbending to hit him against the wall.
"Natasha," someone said, "Natasha!"
"I got this, Aang," Natasha said.
But it wasn't Aang she was talking to. Someone grabbed her shoulder and pulled her back.
"Jet," Natasha watched him fire a sword at Long Feng, which missed. Long Feng Earthbent a rock at Jet, striking him down.
"No," Natasha said, "No, no, no, no, no…"
Natasha knelt down by Jet as Katara tried to heal him.
"This isn't good," Katara said.
"You guys go and find Appa," Smellerbee said. (Um, when did the other Freedom Fighters get here?)
"No," Natasha said, "I'm—we're not leaving you."
"Don't worry, Natasha… I'll be fine," Jet smiled a little.
"Come on," Aang grabbed Natasha's wrist and they left the room.
Natasha heard Toph whisper to Sokka, "He's lying…"
