What happens when The Doctor is alone with his thoughts?

"Well, Doctor, I'm off to bed. See you in a couple hours," Rose said, standing in the entrance of the hallway, that lead to her room and many other hardly used rooms in the TARDIS.

The Doctor nodded in her direction. "Alright."

"Goodnight, Doctor."

He glanced up at her, and what he saw, made him look again. He wasn't sure whether it was the lighting, or something else about her. The Doctor found himself staring at her beautiful form. He shook himself out of it. "G'night," he managed to force out of his mouth as she was walking down the hallway. The silence that followed was deafening.

Rose. It was a beautiful name. It was definitely fitting, because Rose was, indeed, a beautiful woman with amazing qualities. She was brave, intelligent, and always knew what was right. She was certainly more of a doctor than he was or would ever be.

Doctor. What a daft old name that was. He just wanted to help people, not hurt them. All he ever wanted was everybody to live. Perfect. But doctors aren't perfect and he knew that from experience. He had blown up his own planet with his own hands.

"I'm an awful, horrible, pitiful excuse of a man," He cried aloud in agony.

Rose, who had been in the kitchen getting a cup of water before bed, had heard her Doctor. She ran into the console room to see what the commotion was, to find him crying and in pain. "Doctor?" Was he regenerating again? What was going on?

The Doctor looked up at her. "Rose?"

"Doctor, what's wrong?"

"Everything's wrong, Rose. I'm a murderer."

"Oh, Doctor, no you're not."

"Rose, I killed them. All of the Timelords. All of the men, the women, and all of the children. It haunts me, Rose. Everyday. Whenever I see a small child laughing, or crying' to their mums, I'm reminded of all of the children that were left on Gallifrey when I destroyed it. I just wanted to help people…"

Rose wrapped her arms around the blubbering Doctor. "And you do. You come to Earth and you save us. You saved me."

"But-"

"You do save people," Rose pulled away. "There's 7 billion people living on earth and that is all because of you. If you weren't there, they, we wouldn't be there. And though they don't know it, they owe you a many thanks."

"They wouldn't want to, if they knew what I've done," The Doctor said, sulking in Rose's grasp.

"I know what you've done. And I'm still here," Rose started to choke up a little.

"Rose," The Doctor said, staring longingy into her intriguing brown eyes. "I-I love you."

Rose smiled. "I love you, too."

Then next action that followed was an act of love that had only happened between the two, very rarely. But their mouths fit together like the perfect pieces to a puzzle. A beautiful puzzle, that should never be taken apart.

It's interesting, The Doctor thought. That when words fail you, the silence guards you, and love finds you.
