Chapter 26
Today was a weekday, so naturally Jade and her friends had to go to work. Jade was grabbing her heading out of her suite when she saw all of her friends leaving their suites as well.
"Morning Jade," Amber greeted.
"Morning," Jade replied.
"I wonder where we'll get sent today," Mark said.
"Well, last I heard there's a lot of combat going on up there," Violet said pointing to the sky. "So at least one of us is bound to get sent to a battlefield somewhere."
"Yeah, if that's the case I wouldn't be surprised if we run into some of the others today," Mark declared.
"Yeah, that would be funny," Jade stated.
"Say guys, you want to do something tonight after work?" Amber asked.
"Like what," Dante questioned.
"We could go back to the Burning Point," Violet suggested. "We haven't been there in a while."
"I'm cool with that idea," Jade stated.
"Me too," Amber added.
"Looks like we're going to the club tonight then," Dante confirmed.
"Hey Jade," Mamoru said popping up behind her.
"What is it Mamoru?" Jade questioned.
"If you guys are going to the club later; can you teach me how to dance?" Mamoru questioned.
"You want to learn how to dance?" Violet questioned.
"Yeah, I've seen a lot of people do it before," Mamoru declared. "I think it's time that I learn how to do it too."
"Yes Mamoru, I will teach you how to dance later," Jade stated.
The reapers grabbed their sacks and headed outside.
"Well, let's get to work," Violet said.
With that said the reapers were off to work.
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Jade looked at her surroundings, the walls were white, and so was the floor, the only thing that wasn't white was a TV that was hanging from the wall, and a blanket on the bed where a person was lying, it was an elderly woman, she looked about 90 years old.
"Ok, so I'm in a hospital, but what country is this?" Jade asked, knowing that no one could hear her.
She watched as a doctor talked to a young couple. Luckily humans couldn't see reapers.
"Je suis désolé monsieur, mais votre grand-mère ne le fais," The doctor declared.
"Okay, French, so I'm in France," Jade confirmed.
Jade watched as the doctor and the young couple left the room. The couple looked like they were crying.
"Poor people," Jade said. "Don't worry though grandma, you'll be at peace soon."
Jade took out her sword and struck the elderly woman in the chest with it. Rather than causing the body to bleed a glowing white orb floated out of her body, it was her soul.
"Well, one soul down," Jade stated. "Let's say how many are left."
When Jade looked around at her next location she saw that she was on a battlefield.
"Well, I guess Dante was right about the battles," She said looking at all the dead bodies around her.
She started collecting as many souls as she could, her bag was already getting full and this was only her second location.
She looked the other way and saw that line of bodies went on. Much to her relief though, she saw another reaper appear. He was pale, had red hair, brown eyes, and freckles.
He looked started collecting some souls until he finally noticed her.
"Oh, hey there Jade," he finally greeted her.
"Hi Liam," Jade greeted.
"There are a lot of bodies here huh?" Liam questioned.
"Yeah," Jade replied. "Where are we anyway?"
"I think we're in in Syria," Liam stated.
"Well, wherever we are, the people must be really violent to have racked up a body count like this," Jade declared.
A few minutes later Jade's bag was getting full.
"My bag is full Liam," Jade declared. "I'll be right back."
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Jade teleported back to the palace and headed toward opened a chute in the wall. This was where a lot of reapers would deposit their souls if there bags got full before the end of the day. There were two rules to using this chute though: One, your bag had to be full, and two, you only had a minute to empty the bag before returning to work.
Jade of course emptied her bag before a minute before teleporting back to Syria.
Only Liam was gone, and Violet was there.
"Hey there Jade," Violet greeted.
"Hey, where did Liam go?" Jade asked.
"He actually just left," Violet declared. "Filled up his bag, so I guess I got teleported here to help you guys out."
"Where did you come from?" Jade asked.
"China," Violet replied. "A poor couple was in a bad car accident."
"Well, at least we're almost done here," Jade declared.
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
A few hours later
Jade and her friends were finally done with work.
"Well, that was a long day," Amber complained.
"At least it's over," Dante stated.
The reapers emptied their bags and made their way back to the suites.
"So, when should we head to the club?" Violet questioned.
"Well, knowing you girls, you're going to need forever to get ready," Mark teased.
"Shut up Mark," Amber stated.
"Should we see if Paco wants to come with us?" Dante questioned.
"Yeah, I have a feeling that he'd want to get out tonight," Jade declared.
"We'll go ask him," Mark stated. "Why don't we all meet up at my suite once we're all ready?"
"Okay," Violet replied.
So the girls went to go get ready while Dante and Mark went to find Paco.
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Two hours later
Mark, Dante, and Paco were all sitting in Mark's suite waiting for the girls to show up. Mark was wearing a gray Henley shirt, black jeans, and blue and black sneakers. Dante was wearing a light blue button down shirt, dark blue jeans, and black sneakers. Paco was wearing a red and black striped polo, black jeans, and red and black sneakers.
"How much longer do you think the girls will take?" Dante questioned.
"Well, I'm pretty sure Jade and Violet are rushing Amber to get ready, so not much longer," Mark declared.
"Do you guys actually mind if I ask you something, before the girls show up?" Paco asked.
"Sure dude," Dante replied.
"What is it that you can't say it in front of the girls though?" Mark asked.
"Last week, when the other found book with the resurrection spells in it," Paco declared.
"Okay, what about it?" Dante questioned.
"Is there anybody around here that would be stupid enough to resurrect someone from the dead?" Paco asked.
"Like who?" Mark questioned.
Zyon," Paco declared. "A while back El Toro and I ran into Mamoru at Zyon's grave. He said he felt like we were being watched."
"Well Paco, if anyone is stupid enough to try and resurrect Zyon, there are two possible reasons why," Mark declared.
"The first reason is to take out Jade," Dante declared. "If Zyon is brought back, and Jade is killed, Zyon is technically the only possible heir left. So, someone with that thought in mind is probably hoping that they can get into the Devil's court by bringing Zyon back."
"Ok, what's the second reason then?" Paco asked.
"The jewel of Hikari," Mark stated. "The Devil, Jade, and Zyon are the only ones who know how to use the jewel; and Jade and the Devil aren't going to give up information so easily. So hypothetically, if someone brought Zyon back to life, they might want to use him to figure out how the jewel works."
"Would he really give it up that easily though?" Paco questioned.
"If it came with revenge on Jade, probably," Dante declared.
"You don't think anyone is trying to resurrect Zyon though, do you?" Paco asked.
"Well, I will say this," Mark declared. "If that's their plan, they're going to have a difficult time. Zyon's soul is stored away with several others, and souls aren't easy to differentiate."
Suddenly there was a knock on the door. Mark opened it to see the girls ready and standing in the door way in their outfits.
Jade was wearing a baby blue camisole with a black vest on top of it, black jean shorts, and black knee-high boots. Amber was wearing a bright pink sleeveless top, a black pencil skirt, and black strappy sandal heels. Violet was wearing a silver halter top, black cropped pants, and black wedges.
"Well, it took you girls log enough," Dante teased.
"Yeah, enough teasing, can we go already?" Violet stated.
"Yeah, let's go," Mark said.
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
At the Burning Point
Jade and her friends were sitting at the bar. Dante and Mark had talked Paco into a competition to see how could down the most Fireball shots without hesitating. Violet and Amber were talking over their Sea Breezes, that is before Amber was pulled onto the dance floor by a random man; as Jade expected though, she didn't really seem to care.
"Having fun?" Mamoru questioned, popping up next to Jade.
"Yeah, I guess," Jade said looking at the guys. "They are going to be regretting that in the morning big time."
"I thought reapers didn't get drunk easily?" Mamoru questioned.
"Yeah but Fireball shots are pretty strong, and at the rate those three are going, they'll be drunk in an hour," Jade declared.
Mamoru looked over his shoulder and noticed Drago was at the club, and he heading right toward Jade, time to think of a way to keep him away.
"You know you did promise me you'd teach me how to dance," Mamoru declared.
"I know I did," Jade confirmed.
"Well, how about you teach me now?" Mamoru said pulling Jade toward the dance floor.
"Ok, might as well get them over with now," Jade declared.
She never noticed Drago just standing there with a look of confusion and defeat on his face.
