Chapter 31
The investigation has been going on two weeks now, and still no leads on anything. The longer the investigation seemed to drag on the more on edge everyone seemed to get it. Even the J Team seemed to be feeling on edge, probably because they were questioned not too long ago. The authorities seemed to think that maybe Uncle or even Daolon Wong would be playing a part in it because they were Chi Wizards. Yeah, like either of them knew a spell that could resurrect the dead, but Daolon Wong was the one who freed Tarakudo over decade ago, so that was kind of understandable. Whoever was behind all of this was pretty good at it if no one had any real leads yet.
Anyway Jackie and Viper were out in the park. With all the crazy that was happening getting out of the palace was a definite must right now. Only because the how long the investigation has been going on, they had guards escorting them whenever they left the palace. They were told that it was the Dark King's orders. Jackie had a feeling that Jade had some sort of say in it.
"It feels so nice to finally get out of the palace," Viper said. "It was getting stuffy and crowded in there with all the police and guards. No offense big guy."
The bald guard simply grunted and went back to surveying their environment.
"Yeah it is," Jackie deadpanned.
"What's on your mind?" Viper questioned.
"It's nothing," Jackie said.
"Come on Jackie, we both now that's a lie," Viper stated.
Jackie let out a sigh of frustration.
"It's just this whole investigation," Jackie declared. "The longer it goes on the more tense I feel; and the more panicked I know that Jade feels."
"I know Jackie, but we need to be strong for Jade," Viper said. "Besides, whether or not either of us want to admit it, Jade is an adult now. We need to treat her like one and let her handle this how she wants to."
"I'm just worried she's not strong enough for all of this," Jackie continued.
"Hey, I know, I do too," Viper said. She leaned closer until her lips were right next to his ear.
"She learned from the best though," she whispered. "So we shouldn't worry too much."
Jackie shuddered a bit at that comment.

Meanwhile in elsewhere in the palace the demons were wandering about.
"These pathetic Hellians can't even find out a simple grave robber," Shendu stated. "I can't believe it."
"How hard can it be to find one person?" Po Kong questioned.
"Foolish sister, we don't even know whether or not it one person or more," Bai Tza stated.
"You are right Sister Bai," Hsi Wu replied.
"Say Hsi Wu, how come you aren't chasing after the princess right now?" Xiao Fung questioned.
"I have no interest in that girl brother," Hsi Wu stated.
"What's a matter brother?" Shendu asked. "Not interested in a little competition with my son?"
"Leave me out of this father," Drago declared.
"Come now nephew," Tso Lan said. "It is not like any of us are unaware of the feelings you have for the girl."
"Yeah, well she made it pretty clear that she has no interest in my presence right now," Drago declared.
"Come now my boy," Shendu said. "We all know that something like that isn't going to stop you."
"I said stay out of this father!" Drago warned.

Later Jade and her friends were coming back from work but first they decided to make a stop in the throne room. When they got there they found the Devil sitting on his throne.
"Hey Dad," Jade greeted nonchalantly.
"My King," Dante said.
Jade's friends all kneeled.
"You all have come at quite a convenient time," the Devil stated. "We have a guest with us today."
"Who is it?" Jade questioned.
Right on cue a set of the doors on the right opened and standing before everyone was Tarakudo.
"Tarakudo," Jade said in shock. Then she quickly composed herself. "What brings you back to the central kingdom?"
"I come here on business my dear princess," Tarakudo stated.
"Business?" Amber questioned.
"What would this business involve?" Mark inquired.
"Believe it or not, it involves the princess's body guard," Tarakudo said.
"Mamoru?" Violet said.
On cue Mamoru appeared behind Jade.
"Yes, as King of the Shadowkhan I believe that it is best that I take Mamoru back to my kingdom to be with the rest of his own kind," Tarakudo declared.
"What?!" The five reapers said in unison.
"Father, did you know that this is why he came here?" Jade asked the Dark King.
"No daughter, I'm afraid I didn't know," the Devil stated.
"I stayed here on my own free will," Mamoru declared. "I do not wish to leave."
"Tarakudo, I'm afraid I must advise against this," the Devil stated. "The shadowkhan did choose to stay here on his free will. I will not let you take away the free will he has here."
Suddenly a guard came bursting into the throne room with some police officers behind him.
"My king, forgive the intrusion but you must come to the soul room quickly.

Jade and her friends practically flew to the soul room along with the guards and the Dark King himself.
When they arrived there they couldn't believe what they saw. The vault that was holding Zyon's soul was wide open and empty.
"Oh no!" Amber exclaimed.
"It's been taken," Mark confirmed.
"By who though?" Dante questioned.
"No," Jade said quietly.
Her friends just looked at her.
"No, this can't be happening!" Jade yelled falling to her knees.
"Jade," Amber said slowly approaching her.
"No," Jade said trying to swat them away.
"No, no, no!" Jade repeated slamming her fists on the ground.
Soon Mamoru was by her side and he was gripping onto her shoulders gently shaking her. Jade only started pounding into his chest.
"Jade it's going to be okay you have to calm down," he kept saying over and over.
After about a minute Jade stopped punching his chest but she still wouldn't stop saying no.
"Mamoru," the Devil said.
The shadowkhan looked at the Dark King.
"Take her back to her suite," the Devil ordered.
Mamoru nodded and he picked Jade up and walked through the shadows back to her suite.
Then he looked at Jade's friends.
"Keep an eye on her for now please," the Dark King ordered.
The reapers nodded before heading out of the soul room.
