Chapter 33
Things were starting to slow down a little in Hell. The police and Jade's friends were still looking for cools as to who might have been behind the abduction of Zyon's soul, but it honestly looked like the police were not really caring about the situation anymore. It pissed off and upset Jade more than anything. Well, that and the fact that Tarakudo was threatening to take Mamoru away from her. No matter how much Mamoru told her that he wouldn't let it happen she still felt a horrible sense of doubt. She already lost one of her best friends and she didn't want to even think about losing another one anytime soon.
Anyway, she was still a reaper and still had a job to do so she went to work that day. While she was out the J Team requested a little audience with the Dark King himself.
"Thank you for seeing us your majesty," Tohru said as the J team entered the throne room.
"I expect that you have come here to talk about Jade?" the Devil questioned.
"Yes your majesty we have," Jackie confirmed.
"She's really upset about everything that is going on," Viper confirmed. "As if Zyon's soul getting stolen wasn't enough, now Tarakudo wants to force her into a marriage just so Mamoru can remain her body guard."
"Is there nothing that you can do to stop Tarakudo from doing this?" El Toro asked.
"I honestly cannot think of any way around it at the moment," the Devil admitted. "I may be the supreme ruler of all hell, but Tarakudo still has control over the Shadowkhan. Every diplomat of the other parts of Hell have their own respective powers, and I cannot take away any power from them without respectable reason."
"You said that when Mamoru first came to this part of your kingdom that he was sent to kidnap Jade," Tohru stated. "Were there not any consequences for his crimes, imprisonment or something perhaps?"
"He was given two options to pay for his crimes," the Dark King declared. "It was face time in solitary confinement in our maximum security prison or…"
The Devil suddenly had a look of discovery on his face. "That's it; I do believe that you all have helped me find the solution to this problem."

Later the Jackie and Viper were heading back to the J Team's suite when they ran into Hak Foo and the Enforcers in the hallway.
"Hey Chan," Chow said.
"What's up?" Ratso asked.
"We were just coming out of an audience with the Dark King," Jackie stated.
"Really, was it about the little badass chick that is your niece?" Finn asked. "Cause she's been walking around all melancholy and practically comatose on the rare occasions that we have seen her lately."
"Yes it was," Viper said. "And don't you all hang out with her and her friends whenever they have their parties and hangouts in their suites?"
"We do yes," Hak Foo said. "Lately though they have not invited us to any hang outs in their suites. We have even gone to that club they told us about, but we have not seen any of them there, not even going off into the reapers' section."
"If you don't mind us asking what happened in this audience with the Devil?" Ratso asked.
"Why should we tell you?" Viper questioned.
"What would you have to lose by it?" Finn asked. "We're not about to interfere in any politicians or monarchs affairs, and we're reformed. You've known that for over a decade practically."
"You have our word that nothing you tell us will leave this palace," Hak Foo said.
"Alright then," Jackie said. "We'll tell you."

Later that night
Jade and her friends had been out of work for a few hours. Jade was in her suite with Mamoru. He suggested that tonight that both of them just hang out and play violent video games. It took a lot of persuasion on his part, but Jade eventually agreed.
They were in the middle of a game, when suddenly there was a loud banging on Jade's door.
"Jade, Jade, you have to let me in now," Amber said in a hyper voice.
"Go away Amber," Jade said. "I'm busy now."
"But Jade this is majorly important, you have to let me in," Amber said.
"You know she's not going to leave right?" Mamoru said.
Jade let out a frustrated groan. "Yeah, I know," she said. "Pause the game would you?"
So Jade went to the door and opened it and Amber practically came sprinting into the suite.
"Thanks for letting me in," Amber said.
"This had better be important," Jade said. "Mamoru and I were shooting at things."
"This goes far beyond shooting at things," Amber said.
"What is it?" Mamoru asked.
Suddenly there was another knock on the open door.
"Hey guys," Dante said coming into the room with Violet and Mark.
"What's the big fuss?" Violet asked.
"Yeah we heard Amber pounding on the door from Dante's suite," Mark said.
"Amber claims that she has something big to tell us," Jade said.
"Well, are we allowed to hear it too?" Violet asked.
"Yes, but close the door," Amber said. "The whole palace doesn't need to hear this from me."
"Like they wouldn't anyway?" Jade declared.
Amber just gave Jade a look. "Okay, so I ran into the Enforcers in the hallway earlier, and they told me something that I think will make you very happy Jade," Amber declared.
"I'm not entirely sure that's true but go ahead," Jade said.
"Your family from the human world had an audience with your father today," Amber said. "And they helped him find the solution to this whole conflict with Tarakudo trying to take Mamoru away from you."
"What?!" Jade and Mamoru said in unison and absolute.
"Do I need to repeat it?" Amber said.
"Amber don't joke with me now," Jade said. "Because if I find out it's a joke I will kill you."
"Jade I wouldn't lie to you," Amber said. "And haven't you ever heard the expression 'Don't shoot the messenger'?"
"Well what's the solution?" Mamoru questioned.

Two Weeks Later
Tarakudo returned as he said he would. Jade and of course Mamoru were in the throne room when he entered.
"Tarakudo," the Devil acknowledged.
"My king," Tarakudo said kneeling. "I assume that you and the princess have thought about what I had said?"
"Yes we have," Jade said.
"And I am afraid I must overrule your decision to take the Shadowkhan back," the Devil declared.
"And why is that my king?" Tarakudo questioned.
"Because Mamoru has to stay here," Jade said plainly.
"I do not understand," Tarakudo said.
"Tarakudo when you sent the Shadowkhan here long ago was it not with the intention of kidnapping Princess Jade?" the Dark King asked.
"I will not deny that that was my intention at the time," Tarakudo said.
"Well, the attempt was considered a serious crime against the kingdom, and for his actions he was given two options," the Devil stated. "Either to spend the rest of his life in solitary confinement at our maximum security prison or to serve community service which he chose to do as the princess's body guard for the rest of his life."
"And if he does not carry out the sentence?" Tarakudo asked.
"We would have to execute him," Jade said.
"So as you see Tarakudo," the Dark King began. "Even if Mamoru is a Shadowkhan who can now think for himself, he is still bound by our laws to stay here and serve the princess for the rest of his life."
"And there is no other way around this your majesty?" Tarakudo asked.
"I'm afraid not," the Devil stated.
"Very well then," Tarakudo said. "Please forgive me for any troubles I may have caused my king."
Then he looked at Jade. "I apologize to you as well princess," he said. "I shall return to my kingdom now, farewell."
Tarakudo bowed again before leaving.
Once he was gone Mamoru looked at Jade.
"I told you he wouldn't take me away," Mamoru said.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Jade said smiling and punching him on the arm.
