Emma rushed over to Tony's desk and turned on his computer. She fiddled around with the screen and tried to contact Tony.
"Jarvis, patch in Tony's visuals. I need to see what I'm actually hearing."
Jarvis pulled up on the computer screen Tony's helmet visuals and Emma felt a sigh of relief.
"How's she flying Tony?" Emma said.
"She handles like a dream," Tony commented. She saw him fly around Santa Monica pier and then he started heading towards the sky.
"Tony…"Emma warned as Jarvis told Tony the dangers of flying so high.
"Records are made to be broken." Tony quipped and Emma put her head in her hands.
"Oh dear God…" She heard chaos and saw the screen go black as his suit got iced. Emma heard Tony come back online but his visuals were skewed and then suddenly she heard something on the roof and Tony came crashing into the garage from the ceiling and landed on his cars.
"Holy shit!" Emma screamed and ran over to Tony. "Tony! Tony! Are you okay?"
"Yup, I'm good. She needs some work but I would call that a success." Emma shook her head.
"I'm going to assess the damage done to the house." Emma looked up at the hole and saw it went up three floors to the roof. Emma left and found Pepper in the living room.
"What the hell was that?!" She asked.
"Which room has the damage?" Emma asked trying to be calm.
"What the hell is Tony doing?!" Pepper shouted.
"It's a project and it didn't exactly go totally as planned." Emma explained.
"I'm going out, I'll be back later." Pepper said and she left.
Emma looked around the room and saw the piano alcove was destroyed and she winced. That was an antique piano. She then ran up the stairs and opened the door at the top of the stairs. She never noticed the door before, just taking it for a closet but found it odd when she couldn't open the door.
Emma stepped back and kicked open the door. The room was cold due to the new roof light that Tony had created but she noticed that room looked untouched. There was some dust and grime from Tony crashing through but other parts of the room looked to be covered in years of dust. Emma carefully walked around the hole to look at the rest of the room. It looked to be a storage room. Some random posters, a filing cabinet, a giant diagram of a small city or theme park on one wall in pieces, and shelves of books and notebooks.
"Hey Tony!" Emma shouted down through the hole.
"Yeah?" He asked looking back up at her.
"What's this room? I never knew this room existed!" She saw Tony's face fall and then heard running and lots of running until Tony ran into the room.
"How did you get in here?" He asked angry.
"I kind of kicked down the door," Emma clasped her hands in front of her and felt very guilty.
"Why?! It was locked!"
"I was assessing the damage. I was doing my job," Emma stammered, she had never seen Tony like this.
"What prying into people's lives?! Your job is to protect me!"
"I'm sorry," Emma quietly said.
"Stop being a damn child and grow up! Act like a 21 year old adult! Stop going places you shouldn't be and kicking down doors that are locked for a reason!" This explosion from Tony was too much for Emma, it came out of nowhere and was rude and childish.
"I'm being a child?! Look at yourself Tony, you never had a childhood! You grew up too fast, I saw that, I was there for part of that! You are still a child, making inventions without thinking of the repercussions, you made a fucking hole in your house from them and don't care! Also, getting upset over a room you have kept locked up because you can't handle your father's pressure even after his death! You also don't care about anyone else, you didn't even think of Pepper's or my safety when you went flying off tonight! By the way, I'm not 21, as of 4 minutes ago, I am 22 years old and more of an adult than you are!"
Emma stormed out of the room and went to her room and slammed the door. She laid down on her bed and thought of somewhere else. Anywhere else but here.
Emma soon felt herself drifting into sleep but then sleep turned into traveling and she felt her comfy bed slip away and a hard surface replace it.
Emma opened her eyes and found herself in a dark tent, she sat up and could hear people coming towards her. Emma reached to grab her gun from her ankle holster and carefully crept close to the tent flap.
She heard laughing and jumped out and held up her gun and four others greeted her.
"Emma?" Emma lowered her gun as she was face to face with Peggy, Howard, Dum Dum, and Falsworth.
"What are you all doing?" Emma asked.
"What are you doing? What are you wearing?" Peggy asked.
"I was inspecting this camp, I thought this was an enemy camp."
"See, I told you we needed a scout to stay behind." Falsworth said.
"What were you all doing?" Emma asked.
"We were scouting our attack. We are attacking Hydra's last base where Schmidt is hiding in two days, we just needed to make sure our path for tomorrow is okay or if we have to take a new path." Peggy explained. "Seriously, what are you wearing?" She asked coming closer.
Emma looked down at her clothes, her jeans, her white blouse, and her black high heeled boots and just laughed, "I had to grab odds and ends on my mission, always incognito from the enemy."
"I think I have some stuff for you change into," Howard winked at her. He always came prepared.
"Great, I'll just change."
"The rest of you, let's get a fire going and start scanning the area. The others will be joining us soon." Peggy commanded the area and Emma went over to Howard's tent.
"I got your bag over in the left corner. I'll leave you alone."
Emma started to change and as she was finishing up, she heard the other half of the group show up.
"What's the verdict Cap?" Dum Dum asked outside the tent.
"We should be clear for travel tomorrow and then attack at dawn on the next day. We need to make this sneak attack work and if they know we're coming, then we are done for."
"Sounds like a solid plan, Cap. Now, come join us and relax," Dum Dum offered.
"I don't feel like much relaxing," Steve said sounding tense.
"Why don't you go lie down in my tent, I've got the most comfortable cot. It will do you some good," Howard insisted and Emma heard shuffling as he pushed Steve towards the tent.
"My tent is just fine, thanks Howard," Steve politely answered.
"Seriously, go sleep on mine and you will feel a difference," Howard pushed and then Steve sighed and Emma heard footsteps coming closer.
"Fine, I see there is no arguing with you tonight Stark." Steve opened the tent flap and Emma smiled at the dumbfounded look on his face.
"Hey there soldier," Emma said and Steve smiled and crossed quickly to her and picked her up in his arms for a kiss and a tight hug.
"I thought you were on a mission, you left so quickly after we…" Steve trailed off after he had kissed her and placed her back on her feet.
"I was and then I stumbled upon this camp on my run from trouble and couldn't think of a better place to rest."
"Are you going to help us?" He asked.
"Yes, of course I am."
"Look Emma, I need to apologize for our last time together. I let my emotions control my actions and I shouldn't have-" Emma placed a finger over his lips and then kissed them.
"We were both in a very emotional place and let our emotions take over and I don't regret any second of it. You were still a perfect gentleman and I was just as at fault. I love you Steve and I don't want you to regret any moment of that last night okay?"
Steve gave a sigh and a smile, feeling relieved and nodded his head, "I love you Emma. Thank you."
"Now, let's get some sleep. We have a big day tomorrow."
Emma had a fitful sleep and awoke to hearing noises outside the camp. She tried to carefully not wake Steve but that was impossible.
"What is it?" He asked jerking away.
Emma held a finger to her lips and pointed towards the tent wall and Steve nodded his head. They both reached for their guns. Steve motioned for them to quietly exit the tent and search. They crept carefully out and both went in opposite directions. Before Emma could react, everything went black as she felt a sharp pain at the back of her head.
)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Emma felt groggy and heavy and blinked against the bright light shining in her face.
"Ah, you finally awoke agent," a German voice said close by.
Emma tried to move but found herself belted down to a cold metal medical table.
"Where the hell am I?" Emma grumbled against the dryness in her throat.
"My base, the place you were sneaking off to," the voice soon matched the face as it leaned over her blocking out the bright light. Johann Schmidt smiled sickly down at her.
"What do you want with me?"
"You know what I want and I've got it. You are feeling very weak from the drugs I gave you upon your arrival and they will prevent you from travelling for a few more hours. It was so I could collect some blood samples," he tapped the glass IV bottle next to her filled with her blood.
"Since we couldn't keep any of your mother's blood, it was nice to finally get a hold of yours. You certainly are a hard person to track down with all your travels."
Emma pulled against her binds and tried to break free but her body was weak from the blood loss and the drugs.
"What are you going to do with it?" she asked.
"Test it, use it. Create super soldiers who can time travel, to make my domination and take over so much easier. I can change history now with your blood and make the whole world fall under Hydra's rule."
"You know there are complications with changing time right?" Emma smirked, "You might change things in your favor but you might lose something else. You could even lose yourself, changing your timeline could mean you had never been born and there would never even be a Hydra."
Schmidt frowned and slapped her across the face, "You think you know so much about the cosmos and time? I have looked into the stars and seen what power I can have!" He said looking over at his glowing weapons which he had harnessed the tesseract's power in.
Just then Emma could hear some commotion in the distant and a soldier came running in, "He's here! Captain America is here!" Schmidt's face grew into a grimace and he looked down at Emma and smiled.
"We need to make you presentable for your Captain." He ripped the IV out of her arm and Emma winced at the pain. He had guards remove her from the table and Emma found her strength starting to slowly come back and she turned and kicked the IV stand and the bottle fell and shattered spreading her blood on the floor and grinned up at Schmidt.
"Oops, my stupid clumsy feet." She said sarcastically.
Schmidt screamed and then started hitting Emma. She fell to the floor at his punches and heavily lifted her head up to him and smiled.
"You may think you harnessed the power of the tesseract but you will never harness my power."
Schmidt pulled out his gun and held it to her head, but they were interrupted by the doors opening and Steve getting brought inside.
"Emma!" He shouted when he saw her. Schmidt saw the look the two of them exchanged and gave a look of satisfaction.
"Oh this will be very useful at some point," he said to Emma and she felt her body relax as he dropped his gun and went to Steve.
"Arrogance may not be a uniquely American trait, but I must say you do it better than anyone," Schmidt said walking to Steve.
"Let her go!" Steve struggled against the guards.
"But there are limits to what even you can do, Captain." Schmidt continued ignoring Steve, "Or did Erskine tell you otherwise?"
"He told me you were insane."
"Ah, he resented my genius. He tried to deny me what was rightfully mine. But he gave everything to you? Tell me, what makes you so special?"
Steve smirked, "Nothin'. I'm just a kid from Brooklyn." Emma couldn't hold back the smile that split her bloody and fat lip. Schmidt didn't like that answer and punched Steve hard in the gut. This blow made him fall to his knees and he looked back up at Schmidt and breathlessly replied, "I can do this all day."
"Of course you can, but I'm on a tight schedule." Schmidt replied.
"So am I," Steve replied. "EMMA GET DOWN!" He yelled and Emma looked towards the windows and saw the figures coming in fast and ducked down as they hit the glass and jumped in over her and gun fire went off everywhere.
"Rogers! You might need this!" Falsworth shouted as he threw his shield to Steve.
Schmidt ran out and Steve was about to follow when he went over to Emma to help her up.
"You're late!" She said with her full strength finally coming back.
"You alright?" He asked.
Emma leaned over and kissed him, "Go after him! I'll explain everything later."
Emma started to head out behind everyone but stopped herself. Her past self was going to be here any moment, so she had to leave and soon.
"Emma!" Phillips and Peggy shouted when they saw her.
"Hi, can't talk have to go battle some agents." She quickly made her excuse. They were right on time, she knew they saw her before her past self arrived. Emma found a closet and forced herself to travel through the drugs wearing off.
Once she felt the familiar sensation take over she felt a big sigh of relief when she felt her body back in her bed at Tony's.
Her eyes opened and the pain took over. She carefully got out of bed and looked at herself in her full length mirror and winced. Her face looked like she had been in a bad fight and lost, black eye, fat and blooded lip and cuts on her face. Her arm where the IV had been had dried blood on it and was bruising purple and blue from Schmidt pulling the needle out so rough. She had red and blue and purple bruises from struggling against her binds on her forearms and her legs. How was she going to explain this one to Tony? Her body heals fast but those bruises and cuts and looks were going to last for a good few hours.
"Hey Emma?" she heard a knock on her door and Tony's voice. "You awake? I know it's early but can I come in?"
"Yeah," Emma sighed, he was going to freak.
Tony opened the door holding one tray in his hand with breakfast and an innocent look on his face and then he gasped when he saw her.
"What the hell happened?" he asked setting the tray on the bench at the foot of her bed.
"Nazi torture and testing," she said simply. "Schmidt captured me and tortured me and stole my blood for his super soldier and time travelers plan but I destroyed my blood samples so he couldn't use them and that's when I got this." Emma pointed to her face and then it hit her. "I also just saw Steve for the last time," She slowly sat back down on her bed realizing her timelines had met. She would now never see Steve again. The depression came fast and hard.
Tony crossed to her and pulled her into his arms, "I'm sorry about everything. I originally came in here to apologize and ask for forgiveness for my stupidity last night, but you need this more." Emma cried into his chest and hugged him close.
"He's really gone now." She said hating hearing those words.
"I'm here for you, whatever you need."
"Thanks Tony."
