Who Framed Sonic the Hedgehog

Chapter 9

Toon Town

"Sonic!"

Shadow raced out the door way, and leapt off the stairs just as the other car zoomed by, "Sonic!"

He tore open the door and only just closing it before the car was starting and on the move. He looked forward, slamming on the gas, quickly following in pursuit of the yellow car.

The yellow car was on the street, barely stopping for oncoming traffic, Shadow turned shortly after, narrowly missing the trolley by a few feet.

The car turned left, then right. It's driver clearly trying to lose him. Shadow kept at it, left, right, right again. He nearly hit a few cars, and was nearly hit himself. But Shadow kept going. He had to catch up and save Sonic.

He knew the kidnapper was of course, who else would be in a glittering dress? Who else fit every piece of the puzzle? Who would know where Sonic would be?

Amy. It had to be.

At least, he hoped it was Amy. It would make the most sense if the pink hedgehog had something to do with all of this.

The yellow car cut across a side walk it took the next turn so sharp. The tires squealed in protest, but the car moved on. It sped down the road for a few miles, disappearing and reappearing under the moonlight. For a moment Shadow thought he had lost the car. Then, briefly visible underneath a street light, the car appeared, before it was out of sight, disappearing into a long dark tunnel.

Shadow hit the brakes.

The car skidded and slid on the fog dampened pavement, before coming to a rest a few yards from the tunnel entrance. Steamed hissed of the engine hood and the car popped and groaned in the otherwise deathly silence around him.

His breathing was harsh, as if he had chased the car all the way here on foot. And it felt like he had too. Stepping out of the car Shadow pulled his gun out. He walked in front of the car and stared down the pitch black tunnel, then slowly turned his head to look at the street sign. With its goofy font and bold colors, its white wood was bright under the street lamp.

The tunnel to Toon Town.

Sonic's eyes shot open and all he saw was blackness. Next came the scream of terror, along with the recollection that he had been jumped. His hands shot out and came in contact with cool metal, lined with rough fabric.

He could smell gasoline and feel a spare tire by his foot.

He was in a trunk.

Taking deep breaths, Sonic adjusted himself; the compartment had just enough room for him to turn around. He kept moving till he felt cool air seep through a crack, the front of the trunk. His head throbbed, and he could feel dried blood caking his fur. He probably had a concussion. It was hard to think, hard to focus, but eventually he did the first 'logical' thing that came to mind.

"Hey let me out of here you creep!" He yelled, as loud as he could, banging his fists against the car till they bled. "Someone help me! Anyone! Let me out! Help!"

Silence.

Or at least he thought. Muffled by distance and the metal of the car, Sonic could hear singing, laughter, and cheesy sound effects.

He had to been in Toon Town.

That or a theater, but that didn't make any sense at all.

Then again, neither did Toon Town. Why was he taken there?

Taking yet another deep breath Sonic closed his eyes and focused on how he would get out. He need to get back with Valiant, there was only so much time left before midnight, and they needed to find the Will.

He could do this.

With shaking hands, but a unnaturally calm mind, Sonic began to feel around the trunk, "What was the trick Goofy taught me again?"

Toon Town.

His heart thumped painfully at his chest, He stopped breathing and blinked once. He hadn't been to Toon Town, since... Maria

He had tried, once. But the pain was still fresh then, and the case became a failure, he left Toon Town with a heavy heart, his tail between his legs, and a pig painted over his face. That was when he truly gave up on the Toons. That was when he gave up and failed Maria.

What made this case any different?

He shook the thought off, this was not the time. Maria would be disappointed in him for not trying. He took a deep breath, Sonic counted on him. The blue hedgehog had come to him. And Shadow Valiant had no intention of letting him, or Maria down.

Turning sharply on his heel, Shadow rushed to the car, tearing off his trench coat he threw in inside before making his way to the trunk of the car. Throwing his gun in the trunk, he grabbed of duffle bag gathering dust in the corner and tore it open.

Inside was an equally dusty box, slowly flipping it open Shadow gently pulled out a Toon made gun. Toon guns were extremely dangerous, they we're toon created after all. But the most effective at slowing a Toon down or killing and Animation if absolutely needed.

Grinning in an almost vicious like manner, he took a moment to stare at the gun. Shadow then flipped open a compartment in the box, where there lay six Toon bullets. Western style in their design, they lay sleeping in their slots. But the sudden rush of cold air and light made them stir.

The first opened his eyes, a long mustache running down his face and a prospector's hat low over his copper head. "Sam hill, Shadow Valiant, ain't you a sight for sore eyes!"

The second spoke as well, "Ain't seen you in 5 years!"

Prospector laughed, "Where you been?"

Shadow looked at the gun, "Drunk, " He looked at the bullets, "You feeling frisky tonight fellas?"

Yeah's and wahoo's came from below and Shadow smiled, then he flipped open the compartment, "Let's go."

The bullet's let out a fresh wave of cheers and leapt up, stuffing themselves into the bullet slots.

Shadow clicked the gun back together and turned around; pulling out his scotch he pulled the cork out and spat it aside, and raised the bottle to his lips.

And paused.

He stared at the amber liquid, and slowly pulled it away from his mouth, the smell still strong in his nostrils. Tilting the bottle side to side Shadow sighed, it was a complicated day. Why not make it more interesting. "This one's for you Maria,"

He tilted the bottle over, and let the addictive drink spill out. Splashing against the ground in like a small waterfall. He looked up, and chucked the bottle as far as he could, the pointed, and fired. The Indian bullet shot out, and with a war cry, yanked out an axe and smashed the bottle to bits.

Shadow grinned and climbed into the car. "Hang on blue, I'm coming."

With the shift of the gears and the rev of the gas Shadow raced inside. The dark tunnel swallowing the car whole, he followed the curve of the road, waiting for the end of the tunnel, or an ambush, preferably not the later.

As a red curtain appeared his heart rate quickened, this would be it.

The curtain parted and cheery music and bright daylight flooded his senses. Regardless of where the rest of the world was with their time, Toon Town did whatever it wanted.

The sun sang to him as it blinded him, and the trees waved their woody branch like hands and sang along as well. Something about smiling, and how the world was great, and toony things like that.

Shadow squinted, finding seeing difficult, and he heard the familiar sound effect of something squishing under his tire. He hoped that wouldn't turn around to bite him the butt later. The deeper he went into the world of the Toons the more they appeared. Everything from mouse orphans, cupids, and sheep. They were everywhere singing the same song.

Three hummingbirds flew up to his window, "Hi Shadow!" and before he could say anything, they were to his left, "Hi Shadow," His vision followed him as he watched them go to the rear window, "Bye Shadow," One even winked at him.

And then Shadow remembered one of the most important rules of driving in Toon Town.

Never take your eyes off the road.

The car jolted as it crashed hard into a solid object, and Shadow slammed his head into the steering. The one thought on his mind as he blacked out was humorously simple considering the situation. This is Rouge's car.

Weeooo ,weeoo, weeoo, weoo.

Shadow hissed in discomfort and opened his eyes, the blares of sirens whizzed by, naturally not taking interest in his car wreck. This was Toon Town after all. He glanced at his watch, the watch face was cracked, but he could still make out the time. He had only been out a few minutes.

He slowly pushed himself away from the wheel, the passenger airbag had gone off, but his had failed to do so. The windshield was smashed and the hood of the car flipped open, just beyond, Shadow could see that he had hit a the car he was chasing. It had already crashed into a Toon truck.

He climbed out of the car, narrowly avoiding another fire truck as it raced down the street towards some random burning building.

All around him Toon Town was in full motion. Building's smiling and chatting with one another. Toad was racing by in his motor car, yelling "Tally Ho!" And Red Riding Hood was skipping down the street.

Making his way quickly towards the other car, he looked quickly at the bent open trunk that he had almost completely smashed, "Sonic?"

But there was no one inside, Shadow felt somewhat relieved that he hadn't killed the other, but the feeling was quickly short lived. If Sonic wasn't here, where was he?

Shadow moved the driver's window, and peered inside, the car was empty. Banging his head on the way back out, Shadow growled as eggs spun around his head, and hatched baby birds. He swatted them away, and looked around. Amy had to be here somewhere.

Then he spotted her, a silhouette, moving about behind a window at the top of a large hotel building. He made his way across the street, and was nearly plowed over by Road Runner and his coyote pursuer.

How he and Maria survived Toon Town for so long was truly a wonder indeed.

Stepping inside the building he summoned the elevator, Shadow hardly waited a second, when the meter went from the top floor the bottom. And the elevator arrived with a loud crash, causing Shadow to jolt and baggage to fall everywhere.

The door slid open. At first Shadow saw no one, but as he eyes shifted downward his mad contact with Droopy the Dog. "Going up sir?" he asked, his voice without emotion.

Taking a deep breath Shadow walked into the elevator, and fell about two feet in. Crying out as he fell, Shadow landed face first onto the cold tile. He grunted in irritation as Droopy spoke up.

"Mind the step sir."

As Shadow stood, dusting himself off, Droopy closed the lifts doors. "Hang on sir." Then the dog twisted the control knob all the way to the left.

The elevator shot up with such force Shadow collapsed to the floor, stuck there as g-force did its work. Then as quickly as it started, Droopy stopped the elevator, and Shadow flung upward, slamming into the ceiling.

He groaned, "Oh, why me?"

"You're floor sir," Droopy said, unfazed by the elevators sudden movements.

The doors opened just as Shadow swung down and out, had landed on the floor and grunted in pain for what felt like the hundredth time today. He looked up to see Droopy stick his head out. "Have a good day sir," the dog said, before he closed the doors and the lift feel out of sight.

Shadow got up, and worked his way down the hall to the room he was sure held Amy. He paused at the entrance, seeing the lady inside inspect lingerie. He stood straight again, "Gotcha." and opened the door.

"Hello Amy," He said with a smirk.

She paused and turned to face him, "A hedgie!" She squealed.

Shadow's smile dropped, it wasn't Amy.

The female grabbed a large hammer with two equally large spikes on either end, "Must squish hedgie! Smash it!"

It was Rosy the Rascal. Equally pretty, twice as crazy. Amy's evil - or more evil anyway- double. She was the smasher of hedgehogs.

"Oh shit-" Shadow said.

Rosy raced at him, ready to smash him flat, but not before he slammed the door on her. Shadow turned as fast as he could and raced down the hall. The door smashed down behind him.

"Oh sweetie," Rosy cooed, "Come here and let me crunch you."

He raced towards the nearest door, yanked it open and slammed it shut behind him. Failing to see it was the men's bathroom, and it was out of order.

Out of order in Hollywood, means the toilet is jammed, out of order in Toon Town... That was a whole different load of crap.

As Shadow closed the door behind him, the wind rushed around him and he looked down. This could have been a men's bathroom, if there was any bathroom to begin with. He looked down at nothing, just a fifty plus story drop, and a whole lot of clouds.

"Oh noooooooooo," He voice flew out as he dropped down. He reached blindly out a managed to grab onto a flag pole extending from the building.

"Oh thank heaven!" he gasped as he bobbed up and down with the pole. Now he just had to get to the window and -

"Oh look piddies,"

The sudden outburst and the little pitter patter of feet distracted him and Shadow looked up. "Hi Tweety."

Then to his horror, Tweety slowly lifted one of his fingers, "This little piddie went to the market," another finger was grabbed, "This little piddie stayed home."

Shadow paled, "Tweety don't!"

"This little piddie had roast beef." Tweety sang. Sound found himself down to one finger, his pinkie.

"Tweety!"

"And this little piddie had none!"

His pinkie wrenched free, Shadow dropped like a rock, screaming as he fell.

Tweety watched him go and sadly shook his head, "Uh oh, ran out of piddies."

Shadow tumbled through the air as the buildings and the clouds rushed by him. He didn't dare look at the ground; he didn't want to see his death rush up to meet him. What a way to go though. Killed by Tweety Bird, he thought.

There was a familiar chuckle to his right, "Eh what's up doc?"

Shadow turned to face downward and saw Bugs Bunny, casually falling next to him, eating a carrot., "Jumping without a parachute huh? That's kinda dangerous."

Shadow snorted, "Yah think."

To his left was Mickey Mouse, who spoke up, "Yeah, you could get killed."

As calmly as he could, Shadow asked, "You guys wouldn't happen to have spare would ya?"

Mickey shook his head, "I don't but Bugs does."

"Really?"

Bugs smiled, resting his chin on his hands, "Yeah but I don't think you want it,"

Shadow forced a smile in return, "Yeah, I think I do." He glanced downward, the ground now clearly in sight and rushing up to meet him.

"I don't think you do," Bugs said.

"I do, I do, Dammit, I do," Shadow snapped.

Mickey piped in,"Hey Bugs, I think you better give it to him,"

"Alright Doc, here's the spare," Bugs said, reaching behind him and pulling out a spare chute.

"Thanks," Shadow called, as the two Toons deployed their chutes and disappeared from view.

He yanked on the cord, and the spare popped out. A spare tire anyway, "Shit! No!"

The phony chute yanked out of his hands and he raced towards the ground. Shadow closed his eyes and tensed, waiting for the splat.

Strong arms jerked him to a sudden stop and he quickly opened his eyes. "Ahhhh!"

Rosy held him in her arms, the hammer strapped to her back. She smiled an insane grin, eyes a gleam. " Come here sweetie, let me smash you."

Shoving himself away, Shadow rolled across the pavement. He scrambled up, Rosy was racing towards him, hammer ready, "Come here hedgie!" she yelled. She was like a deadly spiked train on the railroad tracks.

He looked down, he was standing evenly over the yellow lines of the road, looking up, he saw Rosy running along them like a track. Reaching down, he quickly tore loose the lines from the road, taking half as second to check on Rosy.

She was close, "Come here!" She practically screamed.

Racing across the street, Shadow dragged the lines across the road, and threw it at the wall, just as Rosy plowed past him. She slammed hard into the brick building, and after mumbling something about a bad hedgehog, she crumpled to the ground unconscious.

"Toons, gets them every time," Shadow said. Realizing he was shaking, he fell against the wall, breathing hard, all adrenaline gone. He just couldn't seem to catch a break in this crazy town.

The sound of someone running in the alleyway near him caught his attention. Shadow stood and quickly moved into the alley, pulling out his gun as he went.

The alley seemed empty, save for a small cat digging through the trash. The moon had taken over and Toon Town had now fallen into night, making everything difficult to see. The alley was mostly dark, save for the one lamp light.

Moving around the corner into a dirty part of the alley, Shadow's nose twitched it inhaled dirt, and he sneezed loudly.

"Gazoontight,"

Shadow turned, and saw a shadow looking him down from the wall, "Oh thanks,"

"Valiant!"

Shadow froze, and slowly turned around, at the other end of the alley, was Amy, the real one. She stared down at him as she pointed her gun. Shadow slowly lifted his hands up, glaring her down.

"I always knew I get it in Toon Town," he said.

"Behind you!" The female cried, and she fired her gun.

Shadow jolted as the bullet whizzed past him, and he turned to see it hit a shadow that wasn't there before. A gun dropped to the ground, and the assailent fell out of sight.

Remembering Amy, Shadow whipped around, "Drop it lady!" he shouted, as she moved towards him, pointing his gun.

Amy lifted her hands up with a sigh and dropped her weapon, "I just saved your life and you still don't trust me?"

"I don't trust anyone or anything," Shadow retorted.

"Not even your own eyes!" Amy snapped. She pointed down at the dropped gun from the other attacker. "That's the gun that killed Ivo Maroon, and Doom pulled the trigger."

Shadow paused, and glanced down, indeed the long barrel of the gun matched the one that had fired at the studio. "Doom?" he asked.

Amy nodded, "I followed him to the studio, but I was too late."

"Why didn't you tell me this before?"

Amy sighed, "I didn't know who to trust." she looked down shamefully, "I couldn't stop him."

"That's right, you'll never stop me!"

Shadow and Amy both sharply looked up, to see the obvious shape of Doom running down the alley, "You're all dead!" He yelled, "Dead!"

"Doom!" Shadow yelled, pointing and firing every bullet he had left in his gun.

The bullets shot after him, but as Doom raced out of site, they slowed. "Where did he go?" one asked.

"I don't know," said another.

"He went that way," cried prospector. "Let's go." The bullets turned, the opposite direction of Doom.

"Idiots," Shadow mumbled.

"Come on," Amy cried, grabbing his hand, "We have to catch him!"

"What makes you think, I'm going to trust you!" Shadow snapped, yanking his hand away.

She looked back at him, "You're just going to have to." she said, before running down the alley.

Shadow watched her for a second, and then with a heavy groan he followed after.

Hey look who's back. :) Hi everyone!

I missed you guys a lot. I feel pretty bad for leaving you all for such a long time. But I'm going to make it up to you by spitting out these next few chapters as fast as I can. I've already got two and half done, so the next one will be out in a few days.

Speaking of chapters, wow, Toon Town is crazy huh? Fun fact, the mentioning of the pic face painted on Valiant's head, was a deleted scene from the original movie, thought you guys would like that so...

See you in a few days! I love you all!
