Did You See The Flares In The Sky?
Piper leaned against the kitchen counter, smiling in amusement as she watched Lily try to cook with a frustrated expression on her face. Deciding to take pity on the poor red-head, she walked over to her and gently took the spoon out of her hand, ushering her to the table to sit down before turning back to the disaster that was supposed to be pasta. Eyeing it critically, Piper decided that not even she could salvage it and dumped it in the trash before going to rinse out the pot.
"I am just a bloody awful cook." Lily moaned, leaning her head on her hand as she gazed sorrowfully at the dumped pasta in the trash, internally apologizing to the food.
"Yes, you are." Piper agreed, nodding in fervent agreement as she poured a new box of pasta into the clean pot, looking over her shoulder to see Lily gaping at her incredulously, she shrugged, "What?! You are! Did you want me to lie?"
"Yes! That is what good friends do! They lie their arse off and say 'Oh honey, you're not that bad.'" Lily told her, leaning back in her chair, crossing her arms over her chest huffily as she stuck her lip out, pouting.
"But you are that bad!" Piper argued, gaining a glare from Lily, causing her to sigh, "Okay, fine. Oh honey, you're not that- No, no, I can't do it. I cannot tell someone who ruined pasta that they're not that bad, I just can't, it goes against everything I believe in."
"Oh shut up." Lily groaned, playfully throwing a napkin at the grinning brunette as a smile spread across her lips, both of them chuckling, "So is there anything I can help with?"
"Um…" Piper hesitated, panic flashing on her face at the thought of the red-head going anywhere near her food as she tried to think of a polite way to tell her hell no.
Noticing the older woman floundering for an excuse, Lily pouted, grumbling, "You suck." Causing Piper to laugh as she started cleaning off the lettuce for the salad, relieved that she didn't have to worry about Lily going anywhere near her food. Hearing a crashing sound from upstairs, both women jumped, glancing up at the ceiling, they relaxed when they heard the boys cursing at the desk.
Shaking her head, smiling, Lily walked over to the staircase and yelled up, "Do you boys need some help?"
"No, we got this! You ladies just relax!" James called down, causing Lily and Piper to share a look as they rolled their eyes at the men in exasperation, muttering, "Boys."
Leo rubbed his sore head; still cursing under his breath as he alternated between glaring at the desk and glaring at James who was trying to look innocent… it wasn't working… at all. He had been tightening the screws under the desk when James had banged his hand against it, saying it looked nice and steady, only it wasn't, it really, really wasn't… at all. The desk had collapsed on top of him, banging him on the head and giving him a nice black eye. Thank you, James. Note the freaking sarcasm! ... And now he was freaking out. Great.
"Oh my Merlin, I can't even build a bloody desk and in a month I'm going to be getting married! I'm going to be a fully functional adult! Oh Merlin." James rambled; his breathing quickening as he started pacing back and forth through the study.
Standing up, Leo brushed off his pants and walked over to James, clasping his shoulders to stop his pacing, "Okay, you need to calm down and breathe before you pass out." He told the panicking man, showing him how to slow his breathing down to a reasonable pace, when he calmed down, Leo continued, "Look, everybody inevitably freaks out before their wedding. It's a natural reaction, okay? You have nothing to worry about."
"Nothing to worry about?! Nothing to worry about?!" James repeated, his voice going unnaturally high pitched as his eyes bugged out, "I can't even build a bloody desk for my fiancé and you think I have nothing to worry about?! I have every-bloody-thing to worry about!" Twisting out of Leo's hold, James took to pacing again while gripping his already messy hair so hard his knuckles went white, "I'm arrogant, and immature, and I am going to be a horrible husband! Oh Merlin, I am going to disappoint Lily so much!"
"Okay, look, you think Piper and I are a good couple, right?" Leo asked the younger man who briefly paused his pacing to nod before continuing, "Well, the first couple of months Piper went insane with planning the wedding, she was so nervous, she freaked out all the time and then one day… she just stopped, suddenly she was calm and confident and I was the one freaking out, I was so sure I would end up failing her." As Leo talked, James started slowing down, calming slightly as he heard that people he considered to be an almost perfect couple had at one point in time been as freaked out as him, "And then one day, all those doubts and insecurities, they just went away, and I realized that I would be fine and I was… because my wife and our children… are the best thing that ever happened to me. So, trust me when I tell you… that you will be fine."
Now completely calmed down, James nodded, smiling slightly, "I will be fine… because Lily is the best thing that ever happened to me." James said, looking like a weight had just been lifted from his shoulders as he smiled at the ground, "Thank you, Leo."
"You're welcome, James." Leo smiled warmly at the younger man, clapping him on the shoulder fondly, "Now, let's get this desk finished, shall we?"
Lily bit her lip, smiling down at the ground as she quietly walked away from the study doors, the sounds of the men working on the desk fading as she walked down the stairs. James really was a great guy, sure he could be a little arrogant but she loved him just the way he was and couldn't be happier. James really was the best thing that ever happened to her. Hearing a knock on the door, Lily quickly snapped out of her thoughts and went to answer it. Opening the door, she felt herself light up at the sight of Wyatt in Phoebe's arms, happily playing with his bear, and a sleeping Chris in Remus' arms. When the little boy looked up and saw the pretty red-headed lady that paid him lots of attention, he smiled brightly and reached for her. Taking the tiny blonde from Phoebe, Lily melted when the little boy rested his head on her chest, cuddling into her. With a smile so wide it almost broke her face, Lily directed Remus and Phoebe to the kitchen before sitting down on the couch with the toddler. Leaning her head against the couch, she let her eyes flutter shut as she rubbed Wyatt's back soothingly.
Just as she started to relax, the windows shattered, sending shards flying everywhere, causing Lily to curl up on her side, wrapping her arms around the startled little boy to protect him. Looking up, she saw a grayish blue thing standing in her living room. Flinging his arm out, the demon threw a blast of wind towards the red-head and the seemingly defenseless child. But before the blast could hit them, Wyatt threw up his shield to protect them, causing the blast to ricochet back at the demon, sending him flying into the wall. All the noise caused Piper and Phoebe to run into the living room, Remus behind them with a now awake Chris still in his arms, and Leo to orb downstairs with James. Seeing Shax, Phoebe and Piper froze, anger and pain swelling up at the sight of the demon that killed their sister. Instead of going after Lily who still had Wyatt protecting her, Shax threw a blast at James who was quickly orbed out by Leo, causing the destructive blast of wind to hit the wall instead. Growling in frustration, Shax went to go after Remus who was orbed out by Chris. Seeing red, Piper flicked her fingers, creating a minor explosion to send him through the wall, before joining hands with Phoebe as she glared at the demon that dared go after her sons.
"Evil winds that blow,
That which forms below.
No longer may you dwell,
Death takes you with this spell!" Phoebe and Piper chanted, feeling a rush of satisfaction when he screamed and blew up, even though they knew it was only temporary and that he would be back. Orbing back in, a slightly dizzy Remus handed Chris over to Piper who immediately clutched her son to her chest protectively before running over to her older child with Leo and a slightly green James right behind her. Seeing his parents and brother, Wyatt dropped his shield and was quickly picked up from Lily's lap, Piper hugged him tightly, burying her face in his hair as she cried with relief, cradling both her children as Leo wrapped his arms around all three of them. Next to them, Lily and James were embracing, both of them shaking and crying in fear and relief. Watching her family, Phoebe felt her eyes well up with tears as she thought about her tiny nephews being attacked by the monster that killed her sister, letting out a quiet sob, she peered up when she felt strong comforting arms wrap around her to see Remus looking down at her with concern shining in his eyes, wrapping her arms around his waist, she leaned into his chest for comfort. So you see, with all this going on, it's understandable that no one noticed Paige orb in with Sirius who looked about two seconds from throwing up.
"Guys, Shax is alive and in England." Paige told her sisters hurriedly, not yet noticing the utter destruction around her, "Oh, and I brought wine." As a second thought, she held up the bottle as a woozy Sirius leaned against her.
Turning to face her, they all stared blankly at the girl, blinking slowly, before Piper opened her mouth to respond, "Yeah, see, that information would have been great about fifteen minutes ago!" Piper exclaimed, still holding Wyatt and Chris to her tightly, not that the boys minded the attention and love their parents were showering them with.
"Shax or the wine?" Paige asked calmly, slowly lowering a disoriented Sirius onto the couch
"… Both." Piper replied after some consideration, making their new friends gape at them, not understanding how they could be so calm.
"What the bloody hell is going on?! And what the hell was that thing?!" James questioned loudly, causing the sisters to exchange looks
"Well…"
Prue Halliwell was lying on the couch in the arms of her high school sweetheart, Andy Trudeau, giggling when he kissed her neck, whispering sweet nothings in her ear. Her Grams was up in the attic, watching over her sisters, ready to help at a moment's notice, which was why her mother was currently sulking in the kitchen, huffily throwing a potion together as she pouted over still not being allowed to watch over her daughters since it was still a risk that she would get too attached, the same reason Prue wasn't allowed to watch over her sisters either, also the reason she had too been pouting in the living room until Andy had come in to cheer her up… it had worked very, very well. Smiling sweetly at him, Prue craned her neck up to kiss him, furrowing her eyebrows when he didn't respond, she pulled back to find him frozen in place.
Frowning, Prue stood up from the couch, "Mom? Grams?" She called, growing anxious when they didn't respond back. What was going on?
"Hello, Prue." A calm voice behind her made the dark haired witch spin around to see a young man with messy dark hair and piercing blue eyes
"Who the hell are you?" Prue asked heatedly as she got into a fighting position
"I am Castiel, an Angel of the Lord. I am here to bring you back to your sisters."
I do not own Harry Potter, Charmed or Castiel who is from Supernatural.
Prue is back! And so is Shax! This is getting interesting, huh?
