Did You See The Flares In The Sky?

Paige was flipping through the book in an attempt to distract herself, glancing up, she paused her movements as her eyes fell on Sirius, watching him stare unseeingly into the distance, she felt a pang of sympathy for the usually arrogant man. She knew how hard it was to suddenly find out about the supernatural, that feeling of disbelief and panic, the overwhelming fear the first time you see a demon, she knew it all, she had been through it not that long ago, so yeah she was feeling a little bit of sympathy for the man, sue her. Sighing, Paige walked over to the pale man, sitting next to him on the couch; she hesitantly placed a hand on his arm comfortingly. Jumping slightly at the sudden contact, Sirius glanced down at the petite hand lying on his arm before dragging his eyes up to meet hers, giving her a thankful half-smile, he laced his fingers through hers.

"Okay, so I think it's safe to say that for once the demon is not after us. I mean, did you see the way he just completely ignored us? I can't believe I'm about to say this but I'm actually a little insulted!" Phoebe exclaimed, pacing through the destroyed living room as she twirled a strand of her hair around her finger.

"W-Wait, you're insulted that a demon ignored you instead of attacking you!? Who are you people?!" Lily asked incredulous and slightly hysterical as she stared wide-eyed at the sisters, not understanding how they could be so calm.

"They're the Charmed Ones. Aren't you?" Sirius asked, directing the question towards Paige who slowly nodded, confusion clouding her eyes as she wondered how he knew, she hadn't told him that part. Huffing out a disbelieving laugh, Sirius shook his head, strands of black hair falling into his eyes, "I can't believe that old story is actually real."

"What story?" Lily and Piper questioned in unison, glancing at the wizard with curiosity

"It's a bedtime story that pureblood families tell their children, either to scare them with the notion of demons or reassure them with thoughts of powerful witches protecting them." James explained, rubbing his thumb in circles on Lily's hand as she leaned her head on his shoulder.

"'With each generation, the Warren witches will growstronger and stronger until at last, three sisters will arrive.'" Sirius quoted, pointing at each sister individually as he said the last line, "'Together these three witches will be the most powerful the world has ever known. They will be protectors of the Innocent and known as the Charmed Ones.'" He finished, gazing into Paige's eyes as she stared at him, he slowly reached out a hand and rested it on her knee, causing her lips to purse and her eyes to narrow warningly, making him retract his hand and lean back against the couch, smirk widening when she rolled her eyes at him.

"Okay, great, we got everything out in the open. Now, can we please get back to the fact that Shax is alive, in England, and is, for some reason, trying to kill you guys?" Phoebe asked, trying to get everything back on track, "I mean, Shax is The Source's assassin, he only gets called out for top jobs, which means that you guys must have seriously pissed someone off."

"Okay, you've lost me now, I have no idea what a 'Shax' is nor a 'Source.'" Sirius said, looking confused, an expression that Remus, James and Lily were all mimicking

"Shax is the demon that just attacked all of you." Piper told them, hesitating and glancing at her sisters before continuing, "He is also the demon that killed our older sister, Prue. And The Source is the King of the Underworld, a sort of hell dimension that holds demons, warlocks, every evil creature you could possibly imagine." Pausing, she looked around at the ashen faces staring at her, "Look, it doesn't matter if you don't know who they are, they know whoyou are and that means you are all in serious danger…. They won't stop until all of you are dead."

"What I don't get is, they didn't even know who The Source was, how could they have possibly angered or threatened him enough that he would send Shax after them?" Paige questioned, going to stand up only to be stopped by Sirius' hand still laced through hers, looking down at him, she met his eyes that were gazing at her, letting her stare fall, she slowly sat back down, slightly closer then she had been, and ignored his pleased smile. Before anyone could answer her question, there was a knocking on the door.

"Are you expecting anyone?" Leo asked, looking over at Lily and James as realization dawned on their faces

"Peter." Lily groaned, putting her face in her hands, "We invited him over for dinner so he could meet you guys." Straightening up, she stood and went to go get the door, "I'll get rid of him. Until we get rid of this demon, we can't risk putting him in danger."

"No, wait!" Phoebe grabbed Lily's wrist to stop her, "This guy, Peter, he's a good friend of yours, right?" Pausing, she waited for all of them to nod before continuing, "Then he might already be in danger, Shax might come after him too and if that's the case then it's better for him to be here. So, let him in and we'll just go about the rest of the night like normal, okay?"

"Um, normally that would be okay but our house is kind of destroyed right now." Lily pointed out, gesturing to the wreckage around them, in response, Phoebe turned to Paige who perked up, smiling happily at being allowed to use her favorite spell.

"Let the object of objection,

Become but a dream.

As I cause the seen to be unseen." Paige chanted, wiggling her fingers for dramatic effect, they watched as the room was restored to its previous appearance, not a thing out of place, turning to face Lily, Paige grinned at the appreciation on all of their faces, "Well, what are you waiting for? Let's get this party started!"

"Aye, aye, captain!" James quipped, saluting the raven haired witch playfully as he followed Lily out of the room, not willing to let her out of his sight just yet.

"Guys, this is Peter." Lily introduced, walking in with a slightly scrawny man in tow just as Piper put the pasta into a bowl, "Peter, this is Piper, her husband, Leo, and their two adorable sons, Wyatt and Chris." Pouring dressing over the salad, Piper smiled politely, waving, as Leo shook hands with the man, "And this is Phoebe and Paige." Handing him a glass of wine, Paige smiled prettily at him, making him blush heavily as he shook Phoebe's outstretched hand, not noticing how she tensed up, eyes snapping shut, as soon as they made contact. Piper, however, did notice and quickly froze the room before anyone else could.

Start…

Sirius ran into the Potter house like the hounds of hell were after him, freezing when he saw the body sprawled on the stairs, he ran over to it, praying that it wouldn't be his best friend. Spying the familiar messy black hair, he stumbled back into the wall, shaking his head in denial as tears made their way down his face, no, it couldn't be possible, this wasn't supposed to happen, damn it! Rubbing a hand down his face, he let out a sob, leaning his head against the wall as he continued to shake his head. Squeezing his eyes shut tightly, he gathered his composure and pushed himself off the wall, forcing himself to step over his friends' body, he made his way to the nursery, dread filling him at the sight of the destroyed door.

Stepping over the rubble, Sirius walked into his godson's room, clenching his jaw as his body shook with the restraint of holding back his tears at the sight of familiar red hair fanned around a pale body like a halo lying in front of the crib. Once again making himself step over his friends' body, he looked into the crib, feeling relief sweep through him as he gave a tearful bittersweet smile at the sight of big green eyes peering up at him from inside the crib. Reaching down, Sirius picked the baby boy up, gently tucking his face into his neck so he wouldn't have to see his parents' dead bodies. The thought of this innocent little boy witnessing the horrific things that had happened tonight made him physically sick. Oh, Peter was going to pay for this. Just as soon as he got Harry somewhere safe.

.

.

Running through the rain, Sirius looked around feverishly, eyes darkening with rage when he caught sight of Peter walking down the street, weaving through the crowd. Jaw clenched, he stalked over to him, roughly grabbing the scrawny man by the throat, he lifted him off the ground and harshly slammed him into the brick wall.

"How could you? HOW COULD YOU?!" Sirius roared furiously, tightening his hold on his neck, making the struggling man gasp for air, "How could you BETRAY THEM LIKE THAT?! Lily and James are dead and Harry is an orphan because of YOU! YOU FILTHY LITTLE RAT!"

"He would have killed me." Peter wheezed, scratching at Sirius' hand as he squirmed

"THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE DIED! DIED RATHER THEN BETRAYED THEM! LIKE WE WOULD HAVE DONE FOR YOU!" Sirius screamed at the whimpering man before shaking his head, tears coming to his eyes, "James and Lily are dead and Harry is going to grow up without his parents… and all you can do is come up with excuses?"

Staring at his former friend, Peter closed his eyes, a tear trailing down his cheek, "You're right. There is no excuse, there is nothing I can say to change the fact that I am a coward who betrayed his friends… but I amsorry, I am so sorry… but I made my choice and now I need to stick with it. Just know that I am truly sorry, I never wanted it to end like this, Sirius." Peter told him, eyes shining with tears as he slipped his wand into his hand, pointing it at the ground, "Reducto!"

.

.

Kneeling on the ground in the pouring rain, Sirius stared blankly at the destruction Peter had left behind, eyes falling on a small object, he tilted his head and reached out to grab it. Holding it up, his eyes widened when he saw it was a finger, Peter's finger if he remembered correctly, he had a very vague memory of him cutting it off before he turned into the slimy rat he is and bolted into a sewer drain. Huh, who would have thought that scrawny little shit actually had the balls to cut off his own finger? Staring at it, Sirius felt laughter bubble up inside of him; dropping the finger, he curled over with hysterical laughter, tears falling onto the ground. Getting pulled up roughly, he let himself be handcuffed and dragged off by the Aurors, something about getting the Potters killed. Letting his head fall back, Sirius stared up at the darkened sky, tears trailing down his face as he shook with the force of his sobs, "James… Lily… I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, it's all my fault."

End…

Eyes snapping open with a gasp, Phoebe took deep breaths to calm herself down as she stared at the deceivingly innocent looking man that was the cause of all the pain and suffering she had seen. Looking back at her worried family, she smiled at them reassuringly before gesturing for Piper to unfreeze everybody. Hesitantly, Piper did as asked and Phoebe turned her smile to Peter, letting go of his hand.

"It's nice to meet you, Peter."

Buttoning up their coats, the sisters waved goodbye to their friends as they walked down the street in the brisk weather to their house. Once they were far enough away, Piper turned to look at her sister expectantly, making the psychic sigh. Phoebe knew she would have to tell them about her vision, it was too important not to, but Piper was already really close to Lily and when she found out that Peter was the reason they originally died… well, Phoebe wouldn't put it past her sister to string him up by his balls. Piper wasn't exactly known for her temper management after all.

Unlocking the door and walking into the house, Phoebe flipped on the lights before turning to her curious family, "I don't know all the details so don't freak out- Piper- but in my vision, Sirius was yelling at Peter about how he betrayed Lily and James and how he was the reason they were dead." She told them, wincing at the pure anger in Piper's and, surprisingly, Leo and Paige's eyes.

"Peter?! The scrawny wimpy guy we just met who looks like he's afraid of his own shadow?" Paige asked incredulously, "That Peter? He's the one who betrays Lily and James?"

"And Sirius, he frames him for it." Phoebe added, watching her little sister clench her jaw angrily, "Which explains how he went from looking like that," She gestured to the house where the handsome man currently was, "To the pale gaunt looking man in my first vision."

"Oh girls, what have you two gotten yourselves into now?" A feminine voice questioned teasingly from behind Phoebe, making the psychic spin around as Piper gaped at the woman leaning against the doorway.

"Oh my God." The two brunettes breathed out in shock as they stared wide-eyed, nobody noticing Paige sneaking out the front door

"Not quite sweetie, but seeing as I'm so damn close, I can see how you're mistaken." The woman retorted sarcastically, smirking at them

"Prue?"

Once she was far enough down the street, Paige stopped running; sliding down the side of a house, she brought her knees up to her chest, tears running down her cheeks. Stepping outside, Sirius popped a cigarette in between his lips, going to lit it, he stopped short at the sound of sniffling. Taking the cigarette out of his mouth, he peered around the porch, tilting his head at the familiar figure curled up against the house, he walked over to the person, fingering his wand just in case. Hearing someone walking over to her, Paige snapped her head up, eyes widening when she saw Sirius standing in front of her.

"Paige? Are you okay?" Sirius asked her, walking closer to the raven haired girl, he frowned at the tear tracks on her face.

"Yeah, I'm fine." Paige insisted, wiping her tears, she glanced away when he raised an eyebrow dubiously, "Okay, I'm not fine, happy? I don't want to talk about it though."

Holding his hands up in surrender, he slid down to sit next to her on the ground, "Okay, we won't talk." He leaned his head against the house, staring up at the stars as he put his cigarette back in his mouth, lighting it, he took a drag before taking out the pack and offering her one. Glancing down at the box, she shrugged, taking one and placing it in between her lips before letting him lit it for her, inhaling deeply, she blew it out in circles.

"You know, I'm named after a star." He told her, making her look over at him interested as he pointed it out, her eyes following his directions, "That one right there, the Sirius star, it's the brightest one in the sky." Glancing over at her to see if she was even listening, Sirius found her staring at his namesake with a small smile tugging at the edge of her lips, "And that one over there is Regulus, the star my little brother is named after. Not as bright as mine of course, only I'm awesome enough for that honor." Hearing her start laughing, he turned to playfully glare at her in offense but instead found a fond smile spreading across his face as his eyes met her twinkling hazel-brown ones, shaking his head, chuckling, he continued, "And that is the constellation Andromeda, which my cousin is named after but personally I think she is way cooler then the bird in the story."

Blinking, Paige turned to face him with an incredulous half-smile, "Wait, you don't like the myth of a beautiful Greek princess in distress just waiting for you to swoop in and save the day? What kind of hot blooded male are you?"

Letting out a bark of laughter, Sirius leaned forward, turning his head so he could see her through the strands of hair covering his eyes, "The kind that likes tough chicks who can kick ass." He told her, giving her a pointed look, making her smile and look down, biting her lip before she brought the cigarette up, taking a drag. Feeling a tap on her shoulder, she looked up to see Sirius pointing to the side, turning around, she saw Piper standing there. Holding up a finger to tell her to wait a minute, Paige stood up, turning back to face Sirius, who took the cigarette out of her hand, she leaned in and pecked him on the cheek, pulling back, she caught his gaze.

"Thank you." Paige whispered, smiling slightly before turning around and walking over to her sister who immediately wrapped her arm around her shoulders, pulling her in close as she told her everything she needed to hear on the walk home. She wasn't a replacement or a substitution. They weren't going to kick her out now that Prue was back. Prue being back did not change their relationship. She would always be their little sister and nothing would ever change that. All of that coming from Piper, who, when they first met, hadn't been that welcoming, meant a lot. Now that didn't mean her complex and insecurities were gone, things like that didn't just disappear, but between Sirius comforting her and Piper reassuring her, she was definitely feeling a whole lot better. And maybe, just maybe, there was more to Sirius Black then meets the eye.

I do not own Harry Potter or Charmed.

Wow, this is the longest chapter I have ever written for this story! I had the Marauders and Lily find out the girls are the Charmed Ones, had Phoebe find out Peter is the one who betrays the Potters, reunited Prue with her sisters, brought Sirius and Paige closer, and showed some sisterly bonding between Piper and Paige. Whew, that is a lot to cram into one chapter! Next chapter I will be introducing Severus into the story and to Prue. Also, I will be bringing Cole and Marlene McKinnon into the story soon as well, wink, wink. And Hermione and Harry too, I'm going to show how the future is changing. I also don't know whether I'm going to have Peter still be a Death Eater or have him be redeemed. Hmm, decisions, decisions.

Cast:

Peter Pettigrew: Thomas Brodie-Sangster. Age: 18.
