Did You See The Flares In The Sky?

Prue walked around the apothecary store, browsing through the herbs, she picked up a couple of packets of sage, rosemary, and thyme before going over to the stand with athames, running a hand over them, she scoffed at the gaudy heavily jeweled ones, what did they think those would do, blind the demons with their ugliness? Shaking her head and rolling her eyes in disgust, Prue went to grab the simple one wrought with black steel only to have someone else try to grab it as well. Her hand freezing over the athame, she looked up to see a man with curly black hair towering over her, his hand hovering over hers, as he stared down at her with a slightly annoyed expression, using her telekinesis to make the athame shoot into her hand, she curled her fingers around it, pulling her hand out from under his, she swiftly turned around and walked away.

"Excuse me, where do you think you're going with my athame?" An annoyed voice with a heavy British accent asked from behind her

"Your athame?" Prue quoted incredulously, mockingly looking over the dagger in her hand, "Hmm, I don't see your name on it, pal. But if you want to try and take it from me, go right ahead."

Giving her a once over, he shook his head, scoffing, "Bloody Americans." The man sneered, walking past her; he purposely bumped against her shoulder harshly, making her stumble slightly. Righting herself, Prue let the athame drop, telekinetically aiming it so it would pin his cloak to floor, ripping the fabric and making him fall to the floor. Snickering, Prue bent down and pulled the dagger out of the floor, twirling it between her fingers as she walked by him, wiggling her fingers condescendingly in goodbye.

Sirius laid on the couch, flipping a coin in the air, he caught it before flipping it again, shifting into a dog, he caught it on his nose impressively. Hearing clapping, the black dog turned to see Remus standing in the doorway, take-out bags in his arms; grinning doggishly, Sirius playfully bowed, winking at his friend before turning back into a human. Shaking his head at his friend, Remus put the take-out on the table, grabbing his chicken and rice out of the bag, he handed Sirius his ribs before he sat down and started eating. Summoning a couple of beers, Sirius handed one to Remus, opening his own, he took a drink before starting in on his ribs. When the flat door burst open as a tornado whirled in, they both jumped up and waited calmly for Shax to materialize before Sirius threw a potion at him that froze him temporarily as Remus yelled for Paige.

Orbing in with Phoebe and Prue, Paige held out her hands, "Crystals! Circle!" She called, watching as the blue and white orbs dropped off the crystals to trap Shax. When the electric cage sprung up around the wind demon, Paige handed out potions to her sisters before turning to the guys, "You don't have to stay, you know, we have this handled."

"We know but we want to stay anyways. This is personal." Remus told her; she nodded understandingly, handing them a handful of potions and they all turned to the thawing demon. Unfrozen, Shax looked around wildly, eyes landing on the group in front of him, he roared angrily, banging his fists against the cage, his body seized up as he was electrocuted.

"Why does The Source want them dead?" Prue questioned, pointing toward the two wizards; clenching his jaw, the blue-grey demon stared back at her blankly, refusing to answer. Nodding slowly, Prue smirked, throwing one of the potions in the air; she deftly caught it and threw it at the cage, electrocuting him. Repeating her question, Prue watched as the demon made a show of sitting down heavily, looking up at her with a dare in his eyes and… did that freaking thing just smirk at her?! Exchanging looks, the two witches and two wizards sat down on the couch and started eating the take-out food.

It was going to be a long night.

Piper stood at the kitchen counter, whipping the brownie batter with a whisk as Lily pulled the cookies out of the oven, setting them on the counter, she sneaked up behind the shorter woman and dipped her finger in the brownie batter, sticking her finger in her mouth, the redhead moaned in delight when the delicious sensations hit her taste buds. When she went back for seconds, Piper smacked her hand away, pointing the whisk at her warningly; Lily ran her finger over the brownie batter covered whisk, sticking it in her mouth with a mischievous grin.

"Don't make me whip you, young lady." Piper threatened playfully, shaking the whisk at her as she poured the batter into the pan

"Ooh, kinky." Lily flirted jokingly, waggling her eyebrows at the brunette, causing both of them to start laughing. As Piper put the brownie pan in the oven, Lily snagged a chocolate chip cookie, breaking off a piece; she popped it into her mouth, flashing Piper an unrepentant smile when the witch gave her a deadpan expression. Hearing the doorbell, Lily stood up and ran to get the door excitedly, Piper following her at a more sedated pace. Opening the door to reveal five girls, Lily gave them a beaming smile as they all rushed to hug her, congratulating her on her engagement and gushing over her ring.

"Girls, this is my new friend, Piper Halliwell." Lily introduced, leading all the girls into the living room, "And these are my old Hogwarts friends, Marlene McKinnon, Alice Prewett soon to be Longbottom, Pandora Lovegood, Dorcas Meadows, and Andromeda Tonks, she's Sirius' cousin."

Sitting down, they all exchanged greetings; grabbing the wine bottle from the table and opening it, Piper started pouring everyone glasses as Lily brought out the cookies from the kitchen. Grabbing a cookie, all the girls immediately moaned, melting into the couch as they tasted the delicious cookies.

"If you think this is amazing, wait until you taste her brownies. All I've tasted is the batter so far but oh my Merlin." Lily told them, tucking her long legs under her as she curled up on the cream couch with Piper and Alice.

"These really are bloody amazing, Piper. Are you a baker?" Marlene asked, snagging another cookie before settling back into the loveseat she was sharing with Andromeda, both of them being the tallest girls besides Lily.

"Um, no I'm not a baker but I am a chef. I've actually been thinking about opening up my own restaurant here." Piper informed them, sipping at her wine, it was nice to get out and have a girls night, while she loved her boys and always loved to spend time with them, she also craved adult conversation with people other than her husband and sisters.

"You should, you so should!" Alice encouraged, giving her a sweet smile, "In fact, I think there's a place a couple blocks away from here that just closed down. It would be perfect for a restaurant."

"Yeah? Huh, I'll have to check that out tomorrow, thanks." Piper said, smiling at the tall brunette on the other side of the couch. All in all, she was having a much better night then her sisters.

Letting out an unholy scream, Shax thrashed around inside the cage as he was electrocuted once again. Phoebe was leaning against Remus' side, reading the book in his hand, she didn't notice how he kept glancing down at her with a soft expression on his face before quickly averting his gaze, thoughts filled with self-hatred rearing their ugly heads. Paige was sitting at the kitchen table, opposite of Sirius, both of them had cards in their hands, they were staring at each other with purposely blank expressions.

"Ace of Spades?" Sirius questioned, peering at her over his cards, he leaned his head against his hand, eyes fluttering shut tiredly.

"Go fish." Paige uttered, yawning as she sat her cards down on the table, she stretched her arms above her head, arching her back, unknowingly pushing her chest out towards Sirius, not that he was complaining. Looking over at where Prue was still interrogating Shax, Paige groaned in exhaustion, dropping her head down on her crossed arms, she closed her eyes, hoping to catch at least a little sleep.

Yawning, Sirius stood up and walked over to Paige, nudging her on the shoulder, "Hey, come on, luv, get up. If you sleep in that position, you will wake up with an awful kink in your neck. You can sleep in my room." He offered, causing her to lift her head up to give him a dirty look, he rolled his eyes, "Not like that, although I'm flattered, I meant you could sleep in my room whileI sleep on the couch."

"I'm not going to take your bed." Paige told him, softening now that she knew he wasn't coming onto her, "But… if you agree to stay on your side, we can share."

"Deal. I'll be a good boy, scouts honor." Sirius said, holding up his hand with an innocent expression… it wasn't very convincing.

"You were a scout?" She asked dubiously, raising an eyebrow at him as she stood up, once again stretching her stiff muscles, although this time she may have been pushing out her chest on purpose… just a little bit.

"No but the emphases on the you was still a little insulting. And after I agreed to share my bed with you too." He sniffed, mock offended, swiftly turning around; he stuck his nose in the air, and walked away like a drama queen. Chuckling, Paige shook her head and walked after him, calling a goodnight over her shoulder before shutting the door. Okay, so maybe Piper wasn't the only one having a good night.

When Phoebe and Remus retired to his bedroom, separate sides of the bed of course, and Paige and Sirius were all tucked in, both sisters having had their clothes changed into pajamas by the guys, and silencing wards having been placed around the rooms to keep the sound of Shax's screaming away, Prue was still up and still interrogating the demon. Throwing a potion at the cage again, Prue watched as the demon that killed her withered in pain.

"Why does The Source want them dead?" Prue repeated the question, throwing three potions at once, causing a huge electrical shock that had Shax roaring, it was such a powerful shock it had steam rising from his blue-grey body. "Why does The Source want them dead?!"

"Because The Dark Lord commanded it!" Shax screamed, finally breaking in his resolve to not say anything; Prue froze, arm still in the air, a potion bottle in her hand.

"What do you mean The Dark Lord commanded it? Who's The Dark Lord? And why does he want these people dead?" Prue asked, throwing the potion when he refused to answer again, causing him to thrash around, his body still extremely sensitive from the previous electrocution.

"They're a threat to his plans! It was the only stipulation He had for joining The Source!" The demon told her, panting from exertion as his body twitched on the ground; frowning, Prue considered the information as she tossed a potion bottle between her hands, The Source and this 'Dark Lord' had joined forces, huh? That didn't sound good.

"Why are they a threat?" The witch inquired, stepping closer to the cage as she almost bounced with anticipation at the thought of vanquishing the demon that had killed her. Shax glared at the arrogant witch, shaking his head, he refused to answer, one way or another he was going to die tonight and when he did it was going to be with at least a little loyalty and dignity left. Picking up four potion bottles, Prue dangled them in front of the demon before pulling her arm back, getting ready to throw them when Shax's frantic voice stopped her.

"Because of the prophecy! They're a threat because of the prophecy- AAARRRGGGG!" Shax roared as he suddenly went up in flames, body imploding, leaving Prue staring at the scorch mark, there was only one demon that had the power to kill Shax without even being in the same room and that was The Source. A prophecy, huh? Interesting. Walking over to the couch, she flopped down on it, toeing off her shoes and pulling the quilt draped over the back of the red sofa down to cover her, she stared up at the ceiling for two hours before she finally nodded off with a feeling of dread deep in her stomach.

She had a feeling that this was only the beginning.

Ooh, Voldemort and The Source working together. That can't be good.

Now, in case some of you don't like the way I portrayed Lily in this chapter, I don't like the idea of Lily being this uptight straight-laced boring girl, if she was like that, her and James wouldn't have worked out and her and the other Marauders wouldn't get along. I think she had to be mischievous and funny and lighthearted, I don't think she had any problems with pranks in general, she just didn't like the fact they were bullying her friend and the other Slytherins. Plus, we didn't get to know her character so technically no matter what any of us do, she's never OOC, just like everybody else from the 70's, even Sirius and Remus because obviously they were different before all those terrible things happened to them and their friends. But if you have any ideas about how I should portray future characters, please tell me, I value all of your opinions.
