Did You See The Flares In The Sky?
A\N: I just wanted to say thank you to wiccancharmedguy for inspiring this chapter with your suggestions. I was stuck on what to do with this chapter before I got your PM so thank you. And all credit for the Lily and Petunia storyline goes to wiccancharmedguy. Anyway on with the story! Hope you enjoy!
A Week Later
Paige orbed out, causing the red beam aimed at her to hit the wall instead, orbing back in, she stared at her opponent determinedly, waiting for his next move. Seeing the purple light heading at her, she held out her hand, calling for it and deflecting it back at the black haired man, causing his clothes to disappear, leaving him completely naked. Feeling the sudden draft, Sirius glanced down, eyes widening before he shrugged, a confident grin spreading across his face as he winked at the raven haired witch on the other side of the room suggestively, causing her to face-palm.
"Oh jeez, mate, cover up, would you?! No one wants to see that!" James yelled, covering Lily's eyes as Remus did the same for Phoebe and Piper put her own hand over her eyes, peeking out of the crack for a second before fully blocking her eyes again, she nodded in appreciation. What?! Just because she loved her husband didn't mean she couldn't appreciate the view! Leo did the same thing with other women when he thought she wasn't looking.
"Speak for yourself, Prongs! Everybody wants to see this! Especially Paige! Isn't that right, Angel?!" Sirius boasted arrogantly, not bothering to even try and cover up; embarrassment wasn't in the Sirius Black dictionary.
"Okay, I am only going to say this once, I do not want to see that, I never want to see that so stop hitting on me, you arrogant ass! Speaking on behalf of all women, it's not going to happen, we had a meeting!" Paige insulted, causing everyone to snort and Lily and James to exchange glances, wondering if they had been that bad.
"Okay, okay, as amusing as this has been, let's get back on track here. Paige, you've got to learn how to orb things without your hands, if we get captured by Voldemort and his followers you won't have access to your hands, okay?" Phoebe instructed her younger sister; that was the end of the dueling session and Piper had been the only one whose abilities had overpowered the wizards, she had been able to take on Lily and the four guys without breaking a sweat. Phoebe had been able to use her premonitions to dodge most of the spells but she had nothing to retaliate with, not if she just had to rely on her power which was the scenario they were acting out. Prue had done pretty well, being able to block or deflect most of the spells with her telekinesis but she still didn't have the best control of her astral projection which often kicked in at the most inopportune moments leaving her body vulnerable.
Looking around the attic, Lily wandered over to the ancient book she had seen the girls reading several times, opening it; she started flipping through it, coming across a page with the words Dominus Trinus on it, she bit her lip. She knew better then to read out loud from a magical book, especially one as powerful as this, but she just couldn't ignore the pull encouraging her to read the spell.
"Hear now the words of the witches,
The secrets we hid in the night.
The Oldest of Gods are invoked here,
The great work of magic is sought.
In this night and in this hour,
I call upon the Ancient Power.
Bring your power to we sisters!
We want the power!
Give us the power!" Lily muttered, reading from the book quietly, she watched as two glowing orbs appeared, one shooting into her, making her gasp, and one flying out of the window to God knows where. Breathing heavily, Lily looked down at herself but there didn't seem to be anything different, glancing back up, she saw everybody staring at her with wide eyes. Well, there goes her vein hope that she had imagined all of that. Looking back down at the book, all Lily could hear was her Grandmother's voice ringing in her ears, "You and your sister are destined for greatness, my girl."
Petunia was bustling around the kitchen, preparing dinner for her husband; she started cutting up the tomatoes, not even noticing the little glowing orb shoot into her back. Dumping the diced tomatoes into the bowl, the blonde walked over to the china cabinet, taking out two plates, Petunia found herself staring at her mother's precious china and couldn't help wondering what the woman would think about her two darling daughters not talking to each other. She already knew the answer to that obviously, Peyton Evans would have been so disappointed, she had always tried to get her oldest daughter to make amends with her younger one but it had clearly not worked. Her mother had hated the arguing, couldn't stand it, she had always been going on about how they were better together, how together they would be unstoppable, how they would be an ultimate pair. She had always asked her mother what that meant but the woman would never give her a straight answer, always telling that one day she would understand.
Hearing the phone ringing, Petunia shook her head and went to pick up the phone, "Hello?" She said, wrapping the line around her finger.
"Pet, darling, I'm afraid I got called into a last minute meeting and I'm going to be a couple hours late." Her husband, Vernon, told her, not really sounding all that sorry. Last minute meeting? Really? He was a drill salesman, what kind of drill salesman gets called into a 'last minute meeting?' If he was going to lie to her, he could at least not insult her intelligence in the process.
"Seriously?!" Petunia shrieked, her already shrill voice getting even shriller, as she flung her arm out wildly, a jet of fire shot out of her palm, hitting her mother's china cabinet and incinerating it, leaving nothing but dust on the ground. Gaping at the ashes, Petunia absently hung up the phone on her inquiring husband, if he was really concerned he could drag his ass home. Staring at her hand, she couldn't see anything different about it… you know, aside from the fact that she had just SHOT FIRE OUT OF IT! What the hell?! She didn't do this kind of thing! This was her freak sisters' fault, she was sure of it. It had to be, she was normal, damn it!
Running out of the kitchen into the hall, Petunia grabbed her purse and jacket before bolting out of her house and to her car, in search for her freak sister so she could undo what was surely her freaky…magic before Vernon found out and divorced her. He might be a stupid idiot who was undoubtedly cheating on her but he was a well off stupid idiot who let her take care of the finances and she would be damned if she lost her fancy normal life because of her freak sister!
Lily was pacing across the attic, hands buried in her red hair as she tried to control her frantic breathing, on top of being a muggleborn wizard, she was now also a wiccan and not just any wiccan! No! She was a Warren apparently, a family that was famous for their powerful witches! If Voldemort ever found out, she would be the most wanted person in all of England, and more importantly that would put James and everybody associated with her in huge danger. Sure, she was now an all powerful Warren witch but she wasn't confident in her ability to protect the people she loved against Voldemort and an entire Underworld of demons and monsters, she didn't even know what her power was. But her new found cousinswere the Charmed Ones, literally the most powerful witches on the face of the planet… but could they really win against Voldemort and The Source of All Evil? Having heard the stories from James and Sirius, she was inclined to say yes and she knew that if she learned to control her new found powers that she could become a force to be reckon with and that her cousins would most likely be able to vanquish all the people who dared try to hurt any of them but… worrying was in her nature and right now all she could see was James laying on a floor dead, staring at her with accusing eyes.
James watched his fiancée pace, walking over to her; he placed his hands on her shoulders, halting her movement. Bringing a hand up to cup her neck, he caressed her cheek with his thumb, resting his forehead against hers. "You need to relax, luv, just take a deep breath before you work yourself into a panic attack." James told her, watching as she took a big breath before slowly letting it out and… then he didn't really see anything after that. Taking his glasses off, he stared down at his frosted up lenses, vision blurry, he looked back up at Lily who was gaping at his glasses and noticed that her eyes were a glowing blue instead of a bright green.
"Did I do that?" Lily whispered, breath coming out in puffs of frost as she turned to her cousins with wide eyes, James breathing hot air on his glasses in an attempt to defrost them.
"Yep, your Grandmother had the same power. If you want a more powerful blast, just hold your hand up to your mouth and blow." Phoebe instructed the new witch, watching as the redhead hesitantly brought her hand up after James encouragingly wrapped his arms around her waist, kissing her cheek sweetly. Leaning into her fiancés hold, Lily took a deep breath, letting it out in a harsh jet of ice, they watched as the entire wall froze up, casting an icy chill over the attic. Sirius took out his wand and cast the Incendio charm to melt the block of ice as Paige started orbing the water outside, blinking her eyes instead of using her hands, earning proud looks from her sisters.
Everybody was curled up on the couches in the living room, the dull glow from the TV casting shadows on their faces as they watched The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. As revving and screaming came from the movie, Lily and Piper burrowed into their significant others and the Halliwell sisters clutched onto each other, for the first time in a long time they were all relaxed, no demons, no Death Eaters, no Voldemort, no Source, no stress. Paige untangled herself from her sisters, leaning forward; she grabbed a handful of popcorn, stuffing her mouth with the buttery goodness, she reached for her glass only to find it empty. Getting up, she walked into the kitchen, the screams from the TV following as she opened the refrigerator, pulling out a jug of fruit punch; she poured herself a glass of the red liquid and turned around. Seeing an unfamiliar man standing in front of her, Paige stumbled back, dropping her drink, it hit the floor, glass shattering as the red liquid stained the white tile.
"Hello, Paige." Castiel greeted mildly, feeling a slight twinge in his chest, the Angel looked down to see a knife sticking out of his borrowed torso, tilting his head, he calmly pulled the blade out, laying it back on the counter before frowning at the raven haired witch. "That was rather rude."
Before Paige could react everybody came rushing into the kitchen, powers and wands at the ready; upon seeing the messy haired Angel, Prue relaxed, signaling the others to stand down as she walked over to Castiel, leaving everybody rather confused.
"Hello, Prue." Castiel nodded to the eldest witch in greeting, "I require you and your sisters' assistance in bringing the half-demon Belthazor back from Limbo."
"What?!" The sisters exclaimed, gaping at the Angel like they thought he was insane, "You're joking, right?" Phoebe laughingly asked, sounding slightly hysterical as she buried her hands in her short hair, grasping the light brown strands tightly. Was she never going to be rid of Cole?
"I assure you I am quite serious. Belthazor will be a great asset and is essential to the destruction of The Source and Tom Riddle or, as you know him, Voldemort." Castiel explained, looking confused at why they thought he had been joking, he hadn't thought what he said had been funny, humans were quite strange.
"But… he's evil! There is a reason we vanquished him! And it's because he's evil!" Phoebe said, refusing to entertain the thought of bringing Cole back, she turned to Paige, wondering why her little sister wasn't protesting with her, she hated Cole more than any of them, even Prue had had a sort of fondness for the half-demon. Seeing Phoebe staring at her questioningly and knowing what she was thinking, Paige shrugged, she still hated Cole with a fiery passion but she just thought The Source of All Evil and the evil wizard dude who was going to kill all their friends and new found cousin was a bigger priority, sue her.
"If you add your blood to the ritual, it will prevent his demonic side from taking over again and insure his status as a Champion of Good." Castiel told them, looking at the sisters, he noticed that while the others seemed ready to take one for the greater good, Phoebe was still unconvinced, walking over to them, he placed two fingers against her forehead, sending her a vision to help sway her decision.
…Start…
Cole was chasing after two twin boys, a huge smile on his face, as the boys shrieked with laughter, pushing each other in an attempt to make the other fall. Shimmering in front of his sons, the half-demon swept them up and threw them over his shoulders, walking back towards the house, he grunted when a tiny blonde missile slammed into him. The pixie-like little girl wrapped her arms around her father's leg, beaming up at him; she gave a wide smile that showed off the gap of her missing front tooth.
"Daddy! Daddy, look! I lost my tooth!" The little girl crowed, holding out a tiny hand to show the baby tooth nestled in her palm
"Look at that! Way to go, Princess!" Cole exclaimed happily, setting the boys down, he picked up his daughter and spun her around, throwing her up in the air, he caught her, giving her a big kiss on the cheek before setting her on top of his shoulders and chasing after his sons again.
"Mommy! Save us! Daddy's trying to give us a bath!" The boys shouted, running over to a beautiful blonde and hiding behind her as Cole made his way over, a love-struck smile on his face as he gazed at his wife.
"Yeah, Mar, save them from the mean Daddy." Cole teased, bringing up a hand to tuck her curly blonde hair behind her ear, he stared at her wonderingly before kissing her sweetly, hearing their kids making disgusted sounds, he chuckled against her pink lips. Surrounded by his loving wife and their amazing children, he was completely happy.
…End…
Coming out of the Angel induced premonition, Phoebe took a deep breath, trying to calm her pounding heart, being a psychic and a former empathy she had felt his Grace sweep over her, it was a very intense feeling. Biting her lip, she realized she had no more excuses, as long as they used their blood in the ritual he wouldn't become evil again and as long as he met the blonde in her vision she wouldn't have to worry about him still loving her so she really had no reason to refuse to bring him back. And was she really so bitter towards him that, even after having had that vision, she would refuse to bring him back, would refuse to let him have that life, that family, when that had really been all he had ever wanted? No, she wasn't. She had stopped being hateful towards him a long time ago, had forgiven him a long time ago, had realized that it hadn't been just his fault a long time ago. Looking up at the Angel, Phoebe nodded, "Okay, we'll do it. We'll bring Cole back."
Setting the ceremonial bowl on the table, Piper sprinkled the crushed up rosemary and the cut up sage into the bowl before grabbing the thyme, plucking it apart, she dumped it in. Picking up the athame, she sliced open her palm and let the blood drip into the bowl before passing it to Paige who did the same and passed it to Prue. Rolling her eyes and sighing, Prue reluctantly grabbed the dagger and cut across her palm, watching the red of her blood drop onto the green of the herbs before handing it to Phoebe who repeated the process and turned to Lily, holding the athame out. Taking it, Lily sucked in a deep breath before dragging the dagger over her palm, closing her hand, she watched as her blood fell into the bowl. Setting the athame down, they all joined hands, standing in a circle around the table.
"Magic forces, black and white.
Reaching out through space and light.
Spirits of air, forest and sea,
The half-demon Cole, I summon thee." The five Halliwell's chanted, watching as dozens of glowing orbs appeared, swirling rapidly around a figure, they grew brighter and brighter until they were too bright to look at and everybody had to shield their eyes. As the white light grew bigger, it suddenly exploded across the attic before shooting back to the figure and disappearing, leaving Cole standing in the middle of the attic, wearing a grey suit and looking totally bewildered.
"Welcome back, Cole." Phoebe said, stepping toward him, making him look over at her sharply, meeting his gaze, she noticed the passionate overwhelming love that used to be in his eyes whenever he looked at her had been replaced with a soft affection.
"Phoebe. What's going on?" Cole asked, glancing around the attic, wondering where he was because this was definitely not the Halliwell manor. Walking over to him, Phoebe picked up his hand, hovering hers over his, she showed him the premonition she had had. Snapping out of it, Cole stared down at his ex-wife with hopeful eyes, "This is real? This is my future if I help you vanquish The Source and his ally?" Seeing her nod, he grinned handsomely, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he stepped back, "Well, what are we waiting for? It's open season on evil dictators, let's go hunting."
Lily sat on the steps outside of her house, staring up at the beautiful night sky and all the bright stars shining; she formed her lips into a circle and blew out, watching as her breath came out in a frosty mist. Hearing a car door slam shut, Lily looked over to see her sisters red car parked in front of her house and the blonde stalking up to her angrily.
Standing up, Lily walked towards her sister, "Petunia? What are you doing here?" She asked her older sister curiously; instead of answering, Petunia flung her arm out, throwing a jet of fire at the tree, incinerating it to ashes, she glared at her sister as she did so, just daring her to explain that. Looking at the smoking ashes of her tree, Lily glanced back at the blonde with a sheepish expression, "Oh, that."
"Yes, that. Imagine my surprise when I'm in the middle of making dinner and flames just shoot out of my hands. Destroyed mum's china too! And I know, I just know this is your fault, you freak! So you better fix it now!" Petunia shrieked at her little sister, for once in her life not caring about making a scene
"Tuney, this is not a bad thing! Now we can be witches together, like we wanted! Do you remember what Grandmother used to say? About how we're destined for greatness? This is what she meant!" Lily told her excitedly, green eyes light up happily at the thought of being close to her sister again
"No, this is not greatness, Lily, this is freakishness! Maybe once I had a stupid delusion that being a witch would be amazing but I realize now that it's not. It's not amazing, it's unnatural. I don't want to be a witch, I want to be normal so fix this." Petunia ordered, trying to ignore the twelve-year-old girl in her, the girl who had been so excited at the idea of being a witch with her sister, the girl who was now screaming at the idea of giving up that opportunity just when they finally had it within their reach, but she had to, she wasn't that naïve little girl anymore, she didn't want to be a witch anymore, she wanted to be normal… didn't she?
"Okay, if that's what you really want, I'll fix it. There's a spell that will let you relinquish your powers, you'll go back to being a mortal. But you have to understand, it's irrevocable, there's no going back once it's cast. So… are you sure?" Lily asked her light haired sister, hoping with her whole heart she would say no, say that she wanted to be a witch with her again, say that she wanted to be sisters again… was that so much to ask for?
Petunia stared at her little sister with watery eyes as she tried to decide, it used to be so easy, magic was bad and normal was good, but now it wasn't so simple anymore. She had magic now, she didn't need to go begging a Headmaster to accept her, she didn't have to shun her sister to cover up her own envy and jealousy, but that wasn't as easy as it sounded, she had spent so long hating magic and telling herself that she wanted to be normal, that normal was better… how do you just… let go of all of that? She couldn't. She wasn't capable of it. She wasn't that naïve little girl anymore. It was time to move on. Both of them.
"I'm sure. Give me the spell." Petunia decided with a heavy heart. Tears trailing down her face, Lily reluctantly nodded and blew down at the ground, watching it ice over before bending down and writing the spell on it for her sister.
Reading the words, Petunia took a deep breath, swallowing down her own tears before she chanted, "From whence they came, return them now. Vanish the words, vanish my powers." As she finished a glowing orb rose out of her chest and flew into Lily's, making her gasp as she glowed red, her eyes flashing the same before they faded back to her normal green color. Flinging her arm towards the patch of ice, Lily watched as a jet of fire shot from her hand and melted it. Lily looked back up at her sister, meeting her blue-grey eyes, she watched as her sister nodded at her before turning around and walking back to her car, leaving Lily staring after her with tears falling down her face. Squeezing her eyes shut, she looked down at the ground, letting out a sob, she turned and walked back to her house, needing James right now.
Opening her car door, Petunia paused, looking back at her sister's house, she stared at the figure on the doorstep sadly, "Goodbye, Lily."
Opening her house door, Lily paused, looking back at her sister's car, she stared at the figure standing next to it sadly, "Goodbye, Tuney."
"You didn't just lose a mother that night at Godric's Hollow. I lost a sister." – Petunia Dursley, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hollows Part 1, Deleted Scene.
Lily was running down a dark hall, dodging a green light, she threw a nasty curse over her shoulder as she kept running, turning a corner, she didn't notice the red beam until it was too late and she fell to the ground, biting her lip harshly to stop herself from screaming. Placing her hands flat on the ground, she tried pushing herself up, whimpering when she was hit with the torture curse again, she didn't notice her hands glowing nor the ground freezing under her palms. Bellatrix walked up to shaking witch, wand held out and a malicious smile on her face, so intent on torturing the muggleborn she didn't notice the ice creeping toward her feet, she only realized something was amiss when she noticed that she could no longer feel her legs. Looking down, the raven haired Death Eater saw her entire bottom half encased in ice, before she could try to melt the block containing her the ice shot up, wrapping around her like freezing Devil's Snare. Pushing herself up onto shaking legs, Lily turned to look at Bellatrix and found herself staring at an ice statue of the woman, pausing for a second to consider, the redhead spun, roundhouse kicking the statue, causing it to shatter.

.
"Bring me the witch."
"Yes, My Lord."

Paige ducked, the red beam hitting the wall behind her, before calling for a table and slamming it over Rabastan's head, knocking him out. Flinging out an arm, Lily incinerated the rest of the Death Eaters as she held out her other hand, freezing the only two Darklighters so there was no chance of Paige being poisoned. Seeing the frozen statues, Paige kicked one of them while James kicked the other one, causing them to shatter. Orbing over to a demon, Paige stabbed him with an athame, killing him and causing him to drop Harry who was quickly orbed into his Aunt Paige's arms before she orbed them out of the house and over to Cole's place. Lily spun around, throwing a jet of fire at a couple of the demons, vanquishing them. Hearing a short sharp sound behind, she quickly turned only to get an athame in the stomach, breathe coming out in shuddering gasps, her head lulled to the side, eyes becoming vacant; the last thing she heard was the sound of James yelling her name. Pulling the athame out roughly, the warlock threw her body to the floor before turning to James, flinging an arm out, a jet of flames hit the wizard, incinerating him and leaving nothing but ashes behind; looking around the destroyed room, the warlock nodded, satisfied with his work, before blinking out.

"The witch and her husband are dead, My Lord."
"And the children?"
"The Whitelighter took the girl and the youngest Charmed One took the boy."
.
.
"The witch and her husband are dead."
"The witch and her husband are dead."
"The witch and her husband are dead."
"NO!" Phoebe jolted up, breathing heavily, body covered in a sheen layer of sweet, she took a deep breath, trying to get her erratic heartbeat under control. Throwing the covers off of her, she swung her legs over the side of the bed, sitting up, she placed her head in her hands as her body shook. Lifting her head, Phoebe looked over at her mirror, seeing the pictures hung on it, she focused on the one of James and Lily, the redhead was on her fiancés back, arms wrapped around his neck gently, his head was turned so his lips could meet hers for a sweet kiss.
"The witch and her husband are dead."
"No." Phoebe breathed, shaking her head as she stared at the picture with watery eyes, "It won't happen, I won't let it happen." She muttered determinedly, standing up from her messy bed, she stormed over to her door, "I did not come all the way back to the past just so they still die." Slamming the door behind her, she stalked down the hall, banging on her sisters doors as she yelled for them to meet her in the kitchen.
"The witch and her husband are dead, My Lord."
"And the children?"
"The Whitelighter took the girl and the youngest Charmed One took the boy."
Okay, so a lot happened in this chapter, huh? Lily and Petunia are Warrens. Cole is back, who do you think his mystery love in the vision is? Lily now has Cryokinesis and Fire Throwing, pretty badass, huh? Her and Petunia said their goodbyes and went their separate ways, was it sad? I hope it was sad, I really tried to make it sad. And even though they've changed the future, Lily and James are still going to die! Can they change it? Or are Lily and James just destined to die? What do you think the 'children' thing means? Also, did you pick up on what I hinted at in Petunia's scene in the kitchen? And one last thing, to people who watch Supernatural, did I write Castiel okay or do I need to work on it? I think I did a pretty good job but if you could give me your opinions, that would be great.
