David covered his mouth as he yawned and then stretched his arms in front of him as he continued down the hall to the master bedroom. Rolling his shoulders out and letting out a long tired breath as he walked in to the room and closed the door behind him. He smiled when he saw her on the bed and his heart nearly burst over the fact that she was his.
She sat cross legged on her side of the bed wearing the shirt she had taken from him earlier that day as she worked through the papers splayed out in front of her and sucked a spoon clean of its ice cream. He didn't say anything to her for she didn't say anything to him and he didn't want to interrupt her thoughts in case they were important. He did, however, stop abruptly at the foot of the bed when he saw her reach up with her hand and slide a pair of black framed glasses from her nose and then back on again.
"What..." He laughed softly and her eyes shot up to his as though she had just noticed his presence and she withdrew the spoon from her mouth, "you have glasses?"
"No."
"Then what are you doing?" He laughed quietly as he pivoted and stepped closer to the bed.
"Experimenting."
"You look fucking adorable," he grinned and bent at the waist so he could brace his weight on the bed and take a closer look, "and so sexy," he grinned wider as her smile grew to show her teeth. When she started laughing happily he let his eyes wander for a few moments. Her toned legs were bare, the hem of his light pale blue buttoned shirt reaching just a couple inches down her thighs. The large sleeves were rolled up and the top buttons were left open so a swath of her flawless skin down her chest and between her soft round breasts was revealed to his appreciative eyes.
He pulled his bottom lip between his teeth as he grinned and met her eyes once again that were still smiling down at him as she laughed quietly through her teeth. With a laugh of his own he slowly climbed on to the bed and crawled toward her, neatly pushing and stacking the papers that were spread in front of her as he got closer. The action had Regina laughing all the more but the lovely sound was kept quiet so as not to disturb the rest of the home.
When his face was hardly inches from hers and he was on all fours in front of her, she was laughing joyously in amusement and he was taking the bowl of partially melted chocolate ice cream and reaching to put it on the bedside table along with the paperwork. "Just when I thought there was no way you could possibly get any sexier," he whispered against her laughing mouth with a grin of his own while his hands slid up her thighs and to her hips, "you decide to experiment with glasses. Whatever gave you the idea?" He asked curiously and playfully as he leaned in closer and pressed his lips to hers in a light a playful kiss.
"Petty complaints filed over the apparent issue that all the text is too small or complicated to read for those with poor vision," she smiled with her amused tone and David breathed out a laugh, "how do you politely word out 'buy a pair of god damn glasses and quit wasting the town's time with foolish and costly requests that will be never be fulfilled' hmm?"
"Oh I'm sure you will figure something out," he grinned and bumped his nose against hers causing a laugh to bounce low in her throat, "later," he added with a small tilt of his head and then let out a small laugh of his own before closing the distance between their smiling mouths with a kiss. A quick soft kiss followed by another and another and then one more before he stayed a little longer. She was smiling and laughing quietly against his mouth at that had him smiling all the more as he crawled closer to her and then over her when she started leaning back.
He kissed her a little harder when she could lean back no further for her shoulders and head hit the headboard and she purred against his smiling mouth. Her fingertips trailed up and down his bare sides with a featherlight touch as he crawled even closer. When she uncrossed her legs he inched even closer and slipped a hand around to the small of her back to both hold her and support the angle between the bed and her back.
His other hand was moving along her soft calf, his fingertips maintaining the same featherlight touch as hers that were still moving slowly up and down his sides. It moved along the side of her knee and then up her thigh as he swivelled his head and kissed her again through both their smiles. Once he reached her hip beneath his oversized shirt he started back down her leg, moving his fingers down to the inside of her thigh this time.
Shivers shot up and down her spine as his slow fingers dipped down and she couldn't help the soft moan that sounded from deep in her throat and had him grinning like the Cheshire Cat. "You're a bastard," she whispered and he kissed her again, slow and firm.
"You love me," he whispered back and she gave an apathetic hum in reply but he knew she was smiling and his assumption was proved correct when he kissed her again and she was smiling against his mouth. "You are so tempting," he breathed out slowly and kissed her smiling mouth one more time before pulling away only to grin like a fool when he saw the glasses again.
"You wear those so well," he grinned with a small shake of his head and she laughed.
"Take a picture," she teased and he breathed out a laugh, "I won't be wearing them again," she grinned and he pulled his bottom lip in to his mouth with his grin before dropping his head and kissing her again. Just one lingering kiss before he broke it and climbed off the bed and stood tall, "what are you doing?"
"Taking a picture," he chuckled as he pulled his phone from his pocket.
"I was kidding," she laughed with a shake of her head as she sat up straight and he simply shrugged his shoulders and his grin remained in place.
"Are you going to stop me?"
"Not with that grin plastered on your face," she laughed and reached for her ice cream on her bedside table, "that'd be like taking a toy from a baby," she smirked and he breathed out another laugh and caught his bottom lip between his teeth once more as he aimed his phone at her and waited for her to get comfortable. She stilled with her right leg folded in front of her and her left outstretched in front of her a little with a bend in her knee so her foot was flat on bed and her left hand took the hem of the pale blue shirt and pulled it down between her legs and sat up with exaggerated posture so her chest was pushed out a little further.
He didn't think his grin could get any wider when she lifted a spoonful of chocolate ice cream to her soft lips and slowly withdrew it with a growing grin all her own. He took the picture when her teeth shone white and the tip of her spoon rested on her bottom lip just before she started laughing and looked down to scoop another bite on to her spoon.
He then out a quiet and playful growl through his smile and pushed his phone back in to his pocket and shook his head at her, "I'm going to make out with you so hard right now."
Quickly and eagerly Regina put her bowl and spoon back on the bedside table and just as she let go of the bowl, he had jumped on to the bed and was tugging her down with him with his hands on her waist and she let out a small shriek of laughter while he gave a playful and victorious growl.
...
David sat on the couch with his feet up on the coffee table and a book in his lap but he was no longer reading it. Instead he was watching Cora pace back and forth across the room. She hadn't said a word and she had entered the room several minutes ago, "more houses to look at today?"
"No."
"Oh? May I ask why?"
"Because I purchased one yesterday. There are not many listings available and even less that are even remotely suitable to live in."
David breathed out a soft chuckle and gave a shrug, "I kept the worst ones from you."
"I don't even want to know."
"Well you have a house now! Congratulations! You certainly didn't waste any time," he was met with silence and more pacing and he cocked his head and watched her for a little while longer without speaking a word. He was startled though and jumped when she suddenly let out an angered scream and swung her arm out, knocking a vase off its small table so it shattered on the floor, "so...you wanna talk about it?"
"Why is she so difficult?!"
"Well...trust issues, paranoia, murderous tendencies, raging temper, powerful, emotional, arrogant, verging on sadistic at times-"
"I get it! I made her this! It's my fault!"
"Not all your fault. But yes your fault. Rumplestiltskin played a big roll as well though. I can promise you though that she does want to love you."
"It doesn't show."
"Well no of course you can't see it. You don't know what to look for in her to know. She'll come around."
"And what is it that has you so accepting of me exactly?! It wasn't all that long ago that you were dragging me out of the house and yelling in my face."
"My girlfriend is the Evil Queen," he chuckled and shook his head, "if anyone can see the benefit of offering another chance it is me. Be it their second chance or their twelfth. Now," he nodded and removed his feet from the coffee table and stood up from the couch while Cora watched him without blinking, "you go ahead and fix that vase and then let's go get you settled in your new house and pull the rug out from beneath Regina's feet. Deal?"
"And if this doesn't work?"
"Oh it will work. She'll be knocking on or waltzing through your front door within forty eight hours. Then the next thing you know she'll be inviting you back here for dinner with the excuse of you being entirely incapable of cooking something that doesn't look like food poisoning on a plate."
...
"Text Regina for me?"
"Pardon?"
"Regina. Send her a text for me," he smirked as he handed her his phone as he drove and Cora looked at him and then the phone before she gingerly took it from him.
"What makes you think I know how to do that?"
"I am going to teach you. It's easy I promise. Drag your finger across the screen to unlock it and then tap the green icon with the white speech bubble er...the white circle with a little triangle on the...left bottom side. It says 'messages' beneath it."
Cora watched in fascination as the device changed its colours and appearance at her touch. When she found the green icon amongst the others she tapped it as David had instructed and the device's appearance changed again much to her interest, "now what?"
"Regina's name at the top?"
"Yes."
"Alright tap the bottom bar there," he watched for a moment and smiled when she did it and then cocked her head in curiosity. What he wouldn't give for a look at what was going on in her mind over such technology.
"The letters are scrambled."
"Yeah way back in the day men thought women were stupid and tried to discourage them from getting jobs involving computers so they mixed up the alphabet. Didn't work though," he smiled at her and then looked back to the road, "you'll get the hang of it."
"What do you want me to...write?"
"Type," he gave her the word and she nodded in acceptance, "say 'had to leave the house for a bit to do a couple things'," he paused and waited for her to slowly type the sentence before he started speaking again, "now to access all the punctuation marks you'll tap the 'one, two, three' there on your left. Put a period and then go back to the letters and type 'I'll be back soon' then go back to the numbers and make a smiley face with a colon and a bracket."
She followed his directions and willed her fingers to move faster despite David waiting patiently without any thought to it. She didn't like being incapable and that was all she was in this place. She hated it, it made her frustrated. However, David's kind and quiet demeanour kept her from getting too agitated. She also respected the fact that he was ready to stand up to her or Regina without fear if he saw it fit. So yes perhaps one could say she now she held a particular liking toward the man.
When she finished off the smile with a bracket she couldn't help the extra huff of air that left her nose as an amused laugh. It surprised even herself when the laugh came out at the use of punctuation to create a face and she quickly shook her head clear of such nonsense, "and then I touch the 'send'?"
"Mhm. Thank you."
"You're welcome," she answered and a few seconds later the phone buzzed in her hand, "is this her reply?"
"Yes. Read it for me?"
"She says 'oh? And what of my mother?'."
"Tell her that you're off doing your own thing again," he smiled and she let out a sigh and worked through the keyboard to type the sentence.
...
Regina pursed her lips as she hummed in thought and thrummed her finger along her steering wheel, trying to decide what to do now that David wasn't home. Perhaps she could get a coffee. If nothing else, David would be proud of her for going in to the diner on her own to suffer the scrutiny of others in the diner. And she would have a nice hot coffee. "Fine," she huffed quietly to herself and pulled up along the sidewalk, "fine, fine, fine," she breathed out as she threw the car in park and dug through her bag for cash.
David was right anyway. She didn't need anyone's permission to walk around her own town.
Pushing the car door shut behind her, she walked up the sidewalk and up the stairs to the door. The diner was not full but that didn't lessen the impact of the silence that filled the room when she walked inside. She simply put on a good face and pretended to ignore them all as she walked up to the counter and cleared her throat quietly with a smile when Granny approached her, "coffee please," she nodded and Granny stared at her for a moment longer, looking her up and down before she turned around and walked to the coffee pot.
Regina tapped her nails across the countertop, not in impatience but simply for something to do and something to keep her eyes on before she locked eyes with someone. She hated feeling like this. Everyone's judging eyes fixed on her. Growing irritated now with the seemingly infinite wait while everyone stared at her in silence, she let it be known. She turned her head with a threatening scowl and the occupants of the diner quickly snapped their heads back ahead of them and started talking quietly amongst themselves.
She gave the space a look over before she nodded to herself and relaxed her expression as she looked back to her hand on the counter and thrummed her fingers once again. Much better.
"Here you are, Regina," Granny huffed out as she placed the coffee in front of the woman as she pulled out the appropriate change.
"Thank you," she nodded and took the coffee with a polite smile and turned around to leave. She didn't make it out the door though and instead cocked her head curiously when Snow stepped inside and stopped in front of her. It took hardly any time at all for her startled expression to change to anger and loathing.
Not exactly willing to risk another week of abstinence, Regina gave an overly polite smile as she physically bit the sides of her tongue and pivoted a quarter turn while opening her arm for Snow to pass. She could feel everyone's eyes on them again but she was too focused on Snow to care too much about anything else. After a moment's pause, Snow stepped past and Regina's voice was bitter but not quite harsh, "good day, Snow White."
Snow looked back over her shoulder with a scowl and Regina merely offered a bitter smile in return as she drew her arm back in and turned to walk out the door. She walked down the stairs with a long breath and lifted the coffee cup to her lips so she could take a sip and feel the hot liquid fall down her throat. She closed her eyes for a couple steps and let the warmth settle in her stomach and when she opened her eyes she was entirely unimpressed with what she found.
"What are you doing? Get off of my car," she growled and he pushed himself off so he stood tall once more.
"Sorry, love," he smiled in apology and she rolled her eyes as she walked up next to him and moved to open the vehicle's door, "and how is her majesty doing this fine morning?"
"What do you want, Hook?"
"Ah straight to the point I see," he smiled and she rocked her head up to look at him with an entirely unimpressed expression, "right. I am currently at the end of my rope. I need some assistance in killing a crocodile," he smiled and she laughed quietly and shook her head.
"And what makes you think I am going to help you kill Rumplestiltskin?" She drawled out and waved him away from her car door so she could actually open it.
"Bad blood. A little revenge of your own. Does it matter?" He shrugged as he stepped away from the car and spun around on his heel so he was facing the car again but her back was turned to him.
"It matters quite a lot as a matter of fact," she sighed and turned around to find him much closer than necessary, "I do not wish him dead by any means," she smiled and leaned back, one hand resting atop her partially open car door.
"Oh? Why not?" He smiled as he stepped a little closer and she looked him up and down with a growing smirk of her own.
"Because I've grown rather fond of him since my return."
"Ah well I hope not too fond," he cocked his head with his grin and she laughed quietly with a shake of her head.
"No not that fond. But fond enough."
"Sure I can't change your mind, your majesty?" He grinned with a quirk of his head and stepped a little closer so their fronts were nearly touching as he lifted his hook and trailed it up her neck and along her pretty jaw.
Regina hummed softly, momentarily letting herself enjoy the feel of the cool metal move over her warm skin, "you see under any other circumstances I would put a thought or two in to accepting this tempting offer. However I am holding out for some particularly mind blowing sex with a certain prince at the end of the week. Besides I don't exactly like you after you stabbed me in the back," she cocked her head with a small scrunch of her face.
"Water under the bridge, love," he smiled and she hummed again before he flicked his hook off her chin, "I must say I am rather surprised you are still with the prince. He with you? No. But you with him? Indeed."
"I enjoy the company," she smiled and he smiled back.
"As good an answer as any, your majesty," he nodded once subtly with his smile before he took a step back from her, "I do wish you'd reconsider your aid in my task however."
"Have a good day, pirate," she dismissed and opened her door wide enough for her to drop inside. Before she did though she caught Snow's eye from where she stood on the sidewalk just outside of the diner. Probably making all sorts of assumptions regarding herself and the pirate. Fantastic. Whatever. With a mockingly pleasant smile, Regina nodded her head in greeting and then dropped down in to her car and started the engine.
...
"Regina? You home?" He called as he walked in the door but was met with silence so he ventured further inside, "Regina?" Still nothing so he walked through the house and when he came to the dining room he caught glimpse of her out in the backyard. With a smile he navigated through the home to the back door and when he opened it and stepped outside, her head snapped up to him and she smiled in recognition and greeting, "hello beautiful."
Regina smiled a little wider and hummed a happy laugh, "hello Charming."
"Keeping busy?"
"Just barely."
"What've you been up to?" He smiled as he stepped off the deck and on to the grass so he could stand in front of her.
"Nothing much," she shrugged, "just finished Miss Swan's paperwork and dropped it off at the sheriff's station. I went to Granny's earlier for coffee, ran in to Snow, did not kill Snow, did not make Snow mad," she lifted her finger and he laughed as he placed his hands on her hips and pulled her closer, "spoke with Hook when I found him at my car. He is still hopelessly trying to kill Rumple and I swear the man cannot hold a conversation with a woman without incessantly flirting. He approves of us by the way and has drawn a line and will not cross it. I am off limits now so we shouldn't have any further jealousy instances with you despite how much it turns me on," she grinned and hung her arms around his neck.
"Mmm I suppose I'll have to make up for that loss," he grinned and she nodded with her lips pursed in a smirk.
"I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with."
"Mhm I bet you are," he grinned and her smirk grew in to a grin that showed her teeth as a low laugh rumbled in her throat.
"Please," she grinned and tilted her head.
"Please what?" He laughed under his breath and her fingertips began swirling in his hair on the nape of his neck.
"It is only two more days. Surely you can find it in you somewhere to give some leniency in your timeline," she grinned and pulled her bottom lip between her teeth.
"I am afraid not, my love," he smiled and she leaned in heavier against him, her grin never faltering.
"Please?"
"No," he smiled back and she bumped her nose against his.
"Why not?"
"Because I said a week and a week it shall be," he whispered and she hummed and nudged her nose against his cheek before she caught his smiling mouth with hers. He laughed happily against her mouth and loosely wrapped his arms around her narrow waist as he kissed her back. He was smiling the whole time, as was she, each kiss light and playful and happy and bringing smiles and laughter between the pair.
"I love you," he grinned and laughed with a shake of his head, "so much," then he kissed her again, quick and light, bringing another laugh out of her before she kissed him again.
