Fourteen: No One Expected

"You do know that humans will wonder where you are up to."Isen told Jakeline.

"I must spread Winter around, Isen you know that as well as I do." Jakeline told him.

"I know, but what excuse am I to give the young man you have become incredibly friendly with." Isen asked her.

"I went to visit my Dad and Grandfather…I don't know make it up." Jakeline told him.

"Fine." Isen said.

It didn't take long for Isen to have to come with a story. Someone knocked at their door and he opened it to see Steve there.

"Hello Steve."

"Hey, Isen, is Jakeline home?' Steve asked.

"Um…no she had to go visit our Grandfather and her Father; she'll be back in a few days." Isen told him.

"Oh." Steve told him.

$LINE BREAK, LINE BREAK$

"Where have you been?" Hiccup asked Jakeline.

"Oh you know here and there." Jakeline replied. The Seasons had invited her over for some lunch and she had to accept, plus she couldn't fight Rapunzel when she truly wanted something.

"Some of my Sprites told me they have seen you in New York." Merida told her.

"So, what are you doing there?"

"I'm living there."

"Wait!" Rapunzel told her. "With the humans."

"Uh-huh best decision ever." Jakeline told me.

"I hope you're not pretending to be a boy." Hiccup told her.

"I am not." Jakeline told him bushing a bit she really was not going to live that one down, it hadn't been her fault her chest plate actually covered her breast size or that she was still entering puberty. "I'm a girl, it's not my fault your people messed me up with a male."

"That is not important." Merida said.

"Yeah, what's it been like?" Rapunzel asked her they had already tried it but they knew that with each of them it was different.

"Perfect, I met these two guys our neighbors Steve and Bucky." Jakeline told them. "Steve is such a great guy, he gets sick a little often but man you should see his paintings, they are the most beautiful things you will ever see, he is so nice and you should see him and Bucky is nice." She stopped as she drank tea that she missed the look the other three seasons gave to each other.

"Really, so Steve must be great." Merida told her.

"Yeah!"

"Have you told him you know?" Rapunzel told her.

"You do realize I'm a boy I don't need to know these things." Hiccup told them.

"Shut it!" They told him.

"Told him what, that I'm older than he is?" Jakeline asked them

"Yes!" they told her.

"Why would I tell him that, he doesn't need to know, as far as they are concerned I am human?"

"Still." Rapunzel told her.

"They don't need to know, plus in seven-eight years I'll be gone." She told them.

"She's right; we never stay to long with humans." Hiccup said.

"I know, but it would be nice for someone to know."

"Rapunzel, what happened the first time you told someone you weren't exactly human?" Jakeline asked.

"They didn't believe me."

"Exactly." Jakeline said. "I'm not saying Steve will be cruel, because I doubt that but I don't want to chance it."

"His friend might react the same." Hiccup told her.

"Yes that's what I said." she told them.

When Jakeline left, Hiccup, Rapunzel and Merida looked at each other.

"She is falling for this Steve." Rapunzel told them.

"Really, what gave you the idea, the fact that she kept talking about him." Hiccup told them.

"I worry that it is going to be bad for her." Merida told them.

"Why?" Rapunzel asked.

"He is human and she is going to have to tell him." Merida told them.

"She's not going to get in a relationship with him." Hiccup told them.

"How do you know, I heard Eros was around New York." Rapunzel told them.

"His magic doesn't work on us." Merida said.

"Are you going to check if Jakeline is home yet?" Bucky asked Steve.

"No, why?" Steve told him coughing a bit.

"You should go see." Bucky told him. Steve's eyes narrowed and he knew what his best friend was planning.

"She is not going on a date with me."

"How do you know that?"

"I just know."

"Come one Stevie, you don't know that, if you don't try."

"You're going to ask her out." Steve told him.

"No I'm not." Bucky told him. He didn't want to say that he had tried to ask but she had not even paid attention to him.

Jakeline arrived home from the Winter round and she was happy and tired out of her mind. There was knock on the door and she didn't even pay attention.

"Come in." she said.

"Jakeline!" she looked up to see Steve standing there.

"Hey…hey Steve." She told him.

"So, how are your Father and Grandfather?" Steve asked her.

"They are fine." She said, but she was kind of shocked. She was not inhuman form and Steve was seeing her.

"Steve, do you feel alright." She asked of him.

"Yes, haven't gotten sick in a while." He told her.

"Good, that's good." She told him.

"So, I was wondering if you wanted to go to the movies."

"Yes!" she told him.

"Really?" Steve told her.

"Yes." She told him.

""I…uh…I'll pick you up at seven." Steve told her.

"I'll be ready." she told him. Steve left and Jakeline jumped up and down silently.

"What happened?" Isen asked her as he came in.

"Steve asked me out on a date." she told him.

'Finally.' He whispered.

"What?"

"I said that's great."

"No, Isen I'm not in human form." She told him and that froze Isen on the spot.

"He saw you!"

"Uh-huh." Jakeline said. She was excited because no one had seen her before, well they had but suddenly it had stopped when she was in spirit form a few years ago and she didn't know the reason behind it.

Jakeline got ready with a dark blue dress and her hair ready. She looked at herself and smiled brightly.

"Be careful out there." Isen said.

"Oh come on, I'll be fine." She told him.

"I know but still I am your cousin which reminds me."

"Don't you go intimidating Steve?" Jakeline told him.

Steve walked over to the apartment and knocked. He waited and when the door opened and Isen was standing there.

"Steve, Jakeline is getting ready why don't you come in." Isen told him.

"Alright." He said, walking in and sitting down on the sofa.

"So, where are you taking her?"

"We are going to the theater." Steve replied.

"Alright, I can trust you to keep her safe."

"Yes, sir."

"Oh for the love of Odin; Isen." Jakeline said coming in and Steve looked up and smiled a bit, he didn't know where she got that saying from, but he knew it was form the Norse Gods he read about.

"It's alright, Jack, he is just being careful and making sure I treat you like the dame that you are." Steve tells her. "I'll bring her home safe, Isen."

"He knows you will, he just being a jerk." Jakeline told him and Steve smiled.

As they came out of the theater both of them were happy. Jakeline had her arm entwine on Steve's elbow as they walked.

"Did you have fun?" Steve asked her. '

"Yes, I did." She told him.

After the date to the theater both Jakeline and Steve had started dating, but they had not kissed at all.

"So, have you and Jakeline kissed?" Bucky asked him.

"No." Steve replied and he blushed.

"Ah really, she's a sweetheart and you haven't kissed her." Bucky told him.

"Bucky!" Steve whined.

"No, you cannot blame me for this, you both need to kiss no wonder I could see all that tension between you." Bucky's answer came with Steve throwing a pillow at his face.

"Your Grandfather sent me a letter." Isen told Jakeline as they were both working at the moment things of certain importance from Princess duties and Guard ones for both of them.

"Really?"

"Uh-huh it seems some of the Summer Sprites are causing some trouble, Merida sent a letter of apology for the Winter Sprites burned by mistake and is already trying to find the culprits."

"I feel really bad for those Sprites." Jakeline told him. "What has he said about the season for New York?"

"Oh, it was alright he will be sending alight storm in a few days." Isen told her.

"Yes, I got that too."

"What are you checking on?"

"The war is getting worst." Jakeline replied. "If that is the case I will have to go and bring snow to those parts to stop some of them." She shook her head as she remembered that the mortals had created a World War already.

"Stop thinking about it." Isen told her.

"You saw the carnage and this is not getting any better, I have a bad feeling about this Isen."

"War always does that to you." Isen told her.

"How many have I seen?" Jakeline told him.

"True." Isen told her.

"Grandfather, wants me to sign over some of the 'Winter Attacks' he likes to world." Jakeline said.

"He's been giving you a lot of work lately."

"He says that he wants me to get ready for the Winter Throne; when he finally retires." Jakeline said. "Or so he says."

$LINE BREAK, LINE BREAK$

Steve and Jakeline were walking together back from one of their dates.

"It's getting ready to snow early this year." Steve told her.

"Yes, it is but it would be only in a few weeks." Jakeline answered.

"I'm going to have to be careful if I don't wish to get sick."

"I'll have some chicken soup ready if you do." she tells him with a smile.

"Ha ha." Steve said.

"I'm serious." Jakeline told him as they arrived to their apartment complex. As they walked up and got to Jakeline's apartment they stood outside.

"So this is good-night." Steve told her.

"Yes." She told him. "So…good-night."

They both moved at the same time and that is when it happened instead of the kiss on the cheek that was customary, their lips moved to the other side and their lips touched, they were going to pull away but they just got close, Steve pulled her close by the waist and she wrapped her arms around his neck. When they stopped they connected their foreheads together.

"Wow." Jakeline breathed out.

"So…um…." Steve didn't get to finish as their lips touched once again.

A Month Later

Bucky, Isen, Steve and Jakeline were hearing the radio in shock.

"We're going to war?" Steve told Jakeline.

"I know." She said. She couldn't believe it; she was going to get involved in one of the wars she had seen so many times.

"I'm signing up." Bucky said.

"So am I?" Steve said.

"So will I." Jakeline replied and the smile she got from Steve was brilliant.
