Chapter 9 : The Plan Begins
"Are you ready? We don't have much time. Let's start the plan."
As soon as Midorima finished his words, the other teens quickly goes to their respective locations in the house – particularly the first floor to do their work. Kise, Kagami and Aomine teamed up to search for the whole first floor, while Midorima and Murasakibara searched for the garden and around. They do their assignments as quickly and neatly as possible, trying to not leave any trace. After around a quarter hour, they gave up and gathered in the living room again.
"Found anything?", Kise started the conversation.
"Nah, I didn't. Some locked doors though, maybe his parents' or granma's rooms. How 'bout the others?", Kagami answered him. The others just wave their heads in disappointment.
"Gah, Tetsu, where does he hides his private things?! All I found was nothing but random normal stuffs you usually find in a normal house…", Aomine protested, ruffling his head.
"Perhaps they are..in Kuro-chin's room?", Murasakibara suggested. The other rainbow heads turned their heads towards the purple haired man.
"Well, I think THAT's true, but… Is it fine intruding to someone's private room without permission?", Midorima asked.
"We've got permission from Akashi. Let's go before they return, or else we will be beheaded.", Kagami talked while walking up the stairs. It has been around 15 minutes, and a trip to buy groceries won't be very long, right?
It is not very difficult to find Kuroko's room. Besides it, there are only a toilet and 2-3 unused rooms, that maybe used to be a storage. Most of them are strangely empty though, and one of the rooms that's beside Kuroko's room is locked, and they gave up to unlock that room until they investigated Kuroko's bedroom. Maybe they will find the key there.
After a few seconds running and checking the other rooms, they arrived in front of Kuroko's room that was placed in the end of the hall. Aomine stood in front of the others. Slowly but sure, he reached to the door knob.
"You ready? I'm gonna open this. After that, we barge in and search as soon as possible."
The others nodded and prepared themselves to search. As soon as they nod, Aomine twisted the knob and opened the door.
In the grocery store, Kuroko is busy choosing for foods to buy. He carefully looked to each o vegetables, fruits or meats that he had, and either put them back to the counter or placed into his basket. He's trying to find the good – or maybe the best vegetables, fruits or meats that he could find in the market. While he is choosing for them, he remembered Akashi's words.
- FLASHBACK -
"Tetsuya, choose the foods that you want to buy properly. We are having a party tonight in your house, so you must pick the best among them.", Akashi talked to Kuroko while they're sitting in Akashi's car, side by side.
"I've never heard of this, Akashi-kun. I've never given you permission, right?". Kuroko answered, feeling a bit irritated because Akashi always do something regarding him without his own permission.
"Oh well, I have, Tetsuya. And because I'm always absolute, I think it's fine.", Akashi smiled to him.
"And don't worry, this will be my treat, so just pick anything that you want to buy and I will pay for it.". he smiled to Kuroko again.
"*sigh* This is the personality that I really hate from him.", Kuroko murmured slowly to himself. Although it's small, Akashi can still hear him and smiles.
After a few minutes of silence, Kuroko opens his mouth.
"Akashi-kun, these things are a bit sudden, you know, all these shopping stuffs, having a party in my house and the others, but they are prepared very well. Strange, huh?", Kuroko talked while looking outside from the windows of the car. Akashi shrugged himself and turns his head towards Kuroko, feeling a bit uneasy.
"I think so too. What are you trying to talk about, Tetsuya?", Akashi answered him. Kuroko doesn't answer back, but after a few seconds he turns around and fixed his teal eyes towards Akashi's now-heterochromatic eyes.
"Are you…planning something? Or have you been planning about this before?"
Akashi looked a bit surprised after hearing the questions out of Kuroko's mouth. But instead he smirks and puts an innocent gesture in his face.
"No, I don't. All of these things are just mere coincidence."
Kuroko wants to answer, but Akashi quickly stops him from talking.
"Oh, look, we've arrived. We should go shopping, shall we?", Akashi asks Kuroko and goes out of the car. Kuroko sighed, and therefore he followed Akashi inside.
- FLASHBACK END –
'Akashi-kun said that, but… I'm still not sure…', Kuroko thought. Sure, he has decided to believe his friends, but he's still feeling uneasy.
'Ah, whatever about that. As long as that Impostor only targeted me, I think I have no reason to worry about them… maybe.', he thought again. He continues to browse through the grocery corners. Although he already buys many foods, such as meats, vegetables, and fruits as desserts, he still doesn't find them enough. Maybe because in the group that will be partying with him in his house, there's a binge eater named Kagami. Hell, maybe all of these are still not enough for someone who has a big appetite as him.
"Tetsuya, found everything that you wanted? You have been browsing through this corner for about 20 minutes and you have bought almost every kind of foods here.", Akashi suddenly appeared behind Kuroko. He startled a bit, and sighed to himself once more.
'What, does he have misdirection?', he asked himself. After assuring himself, he answers Akashi's question.
"No, Akashi-kun. I think I'm not done. I think someone who has an enormous appetite like Kagami-kun won't be satisfied only with these."
Akashi peeked inside Kuroko's basket. He has bought too many foods, and he still thinks that it's not enough? He chuckled in his mind.
"Okay then, why don't we check other corners? Maybe you can buy some foods other than these meats, vegetables, or fruits. Like, bread or cakes as desserts, maybe? Oh, and why don't we buy drinks for them as well?", he asked Kuroko while snatching basket in his hand quickly. Kuroko, a bit surprised, wanted to protest Akashi's action, but silenced when he's handed another empty basket by Akashi. He can only pout.
"Let me carry this, okay? I think this is a little too heavy for you.", Akashi smirks to Kuroko. A little bit annoyed, he turns his face to other direction, not facing Akashi.
Akashi chuckles and grabs Kuroko's free hand. "Then, let us go, shall we?"
As soon as Aomine opened the door, the rainbow headed group can only see bright light coming straight from the window across them. After steadying their eyes with the light, they look around the room.
It's plain white, and there are not much stuffs, just general thing that you'll find around in a common room. A shelf, a cupboard, a desk for studying with a computer on it and a chair in front o it. The bed isn't too big, but enough for a person as small as Kuroko. But strangely, there is two doors. One leads to the bathroom, and the other one is locked. Because it's located in the side where there is the locked door, maybe it is a door towards the locked room.
"Okay, we must quickly search. Kagami and Kise, search for the shelf. Aomine and Murasakibara, check the cupboard. I'll search the desk and the computer.", Midorima leaded the other teens. They nodded to each other, and start their assignments.
After around a couple of minutes, Akashi and Kuroko already finished searching for the other counters. There are not much to buy, because Kuroko thinks a few breads are enough for all of them to eat. He made a note to himself and Akashi to buy some snacks for Murasakibara and some Maji burgers for Kagami in their way back.
"Are you done, Tetsuya? Let's go to the cashier.", Akashi asked Kuroko while walking through the crowds.
"Wait a second, I want to check there first.", Kuroko answered him. After a few seconds checking he returned to where Akashi was.
"Done?", Akashi asked Kuroko. He nodded slowly. They quickly runs to a free cashier before the other customers. When waiting for the cashier, Akashi talked to Kuroko.
"Why don't we play basketball after eating? But not right after it, of course. You will puke.", he asked Kuroko. Kuroko thinks for a bit. In the night, he already scheduled to practice knife-throwing in the room beside his room, but this is a rare occasion.
"Alright then, I'm free tonight.", he lied to Akashi. He smiled to himself. Well, a little break from practice is fine, right?
As they was done in the cashier, time has flew by another couple of minutes. Kuroko hurried leading Akashi.
"Akashi-kun, let's hurry. We don't want them to wait for too long, right?", he asked Akashi. Akashi hurries towards Kuroko, but after Kuroko avoids his face from Akashi's—
He sees him.
With a same face and same shade of hair, and same clothes as him. The only difference is his bloodshot red eyes and smiling - if not smirking lips.
That Impostor, standing not too far from him.
But as soon as Kuroko rubbed his eyes with his free hand, the Impostor vanishes.
"Tetsuya, what's wrong?", Akashi patted him on the shoulder. Still having a tense face, he assures himself and relaxes.
"No, nothing is wrong. Let's continue to the car. Maybe your driver has waited for too long."
Kuroko and Akashi walks towards a big hall near the parking place where Akashi's driver has waited. He bows and takes plastic bags from Akashi's and Kuroko's hands. Kuroko is ready to enter the car when –
He sees him again.
That impostor is standing on the other side of the parking area, smirks to Kuroko again.
"Tetsuya, why don't you go inside the car?", Akashi asked him from inside the car. Kuroko doesn't answer him. Instead, he hurries towards the Impostor.
"Hey, Tetsuya! Follow him, quick!", he said to his driver. Surely, a car will be faster than a human, right?
Kuroko ignores Akashi's shout or his car that chases after him. Instead, he chases after the Impostor who has been running ahead of him. He increases his speed while trying to match the Impostor. He has waited for this day to chase and kill that Impostor. He has determined before that if he sees his Impostor again, he will chase after him to kill him as soon as possible.
Akashi, on the other hand, finds a difficulty chasing after Kuroko. Not only he must pay for the fee in the car ticket box, there is a small traffic jam ahead of the marketplace. Moreover, Kuroko has run through a shortcut that's too small for a car to go through, so Akashi has gave up following him. But after judging where Kuroko will head to according to the shortcut, he startled for a bit. He commands his driver to hurry to the place and quickly picks his phone to call Midorima.
'Shintaro… Pick up….'
"Hey, already find anything interesting?", Aomine asked the other teens. Most of them wave their heads, except Kagami and Midorima. Midorima still searches the computer when Kagami is really busy searching through the books in the shelves. After a couple of minutes, Midorima gives up and turned off the computer.
"Nothing interesting here. There is almost no data in this computer except for generic one… But I found something interesting.", Midorima talked to each of them. But as soon as the others wants to ask him what he find, Kagami suddenly shuddered.
"What… is this… blood?", Kagami said with a small voice. The rainbow haired teens surprised and hurries towards him. There, they saw those messages. Messages about Impostor and other things, even one that seemed to warn about their visit – all written in red blood.
"What… are… these?", Aomine asked himself, a bit shuddering. He never dreamed that he will find something like this inside Kuroko's room. Even inside Kuroko's house.
"Wh..What should we do with these…? Murasakibaracchi? Can you perhaps, eat this?", Kise asked, hiding behind Murasakibara's big body. Murasakibara doesn't react towards Kise's joke.
And suddenly, there is a sound of phone ringing. They startled, and begin turning to every direction they can to find the phone.
"Ah, sorry, it's mine.", Midorima said. All of them sighed in a little relief. Yup, only a little.
"Hello?", Midorima answered while setting the phone to loudspeaker after knowing that it is Akashi that has called him.
"Shintaro, it put you years to pick up the phone! Listen, I don't have time to hear whatever your complain is, but as you know, Tetsuya just ran and I don't know why. According to my analysis, he is heading to – no, the thing is hurry and leave whatever place that you're in right now! If not -"
As soon as possible, like wanting to cut Akashi's words, the door opened.
Kuroko follows suit after the Impostor. He doesn't care about the direction where he is heading to. He just focused himself to follow the Impostor, no more and no less. He just runs and runs without thinking about anything, filled with hatred of the Impostor that has made his life ruined.
And soon… he arrives to the first place that he never wants the Impostor to head to…
His house.
A bit startled, he hurries inside the house. He doesn't see any of his friends, and he doesn't see the Impostor, too. He startles and begins to search almost everywhere. The garden, the kitchen, even the bathroom. He searches almost the whole first floor except for the locked rooms. He found no one and he feels really scared. What if they really disappear? What if they were killed by the Impostor?
What will he do if he loses his reasons to live?
Shoving aside his thoughts, he starts panicking and hurriedly goes towards the second floor. He opened each of the empty rooms and the bathroom and found no one. Not even the Impostor.
Then he arrived in the final room. His bedroom.
He hurriedly opened the door, and finally saw..
Them.
