YAHOO! My pleasant, wonderous viewers! I'm back with a new chapter, me full of Christmas spirit and joy, want to give you guys a very late present! So let's just say...CHAPTER SIX...START-O!
"I fell in love with Ryouta at first sight..." Kyou wiped the tears off of her eyes before turning to face Kasamatsu with a sheepish smile forming on her lips. "Silly right, doing something that was so unrealistic as to fall in love at first sight..."
Kasamatsu was quiet as he slowly sat down on the swing across from Kyou. He raised his hand until it reached Kyou's head, gently patting it as his onyx eyes met with hers, a soft smile appearing on his lips. "No...it's not silly, not silly at all."
I fell in love with you at first sight after all.
Kyou smiled, her senpai's words putting her mind at ease. "Of course any girl at that time would have fell for Ryouta...he was like a modern day Adonis. Ryouta was handsome, kind and was a bit of an idiot." Kyou mumbled as a blush slowly tinted her cheeks. She quickly shook her head and disregarded the thought.
I am NOT in love with him! He broke my heart, it's done and over with...
"I wanted to be friends, but I wasn't the type of girl who only became friends so I could have a chance at a relationship...it's not like I had any underhanded methods to make him fall for me, but I just wanted to become closer. But not like some clingy fangirl though!"
Kasamatsu chuckled at the thought of a clingy Kyou. Her cute self being by his side, clinging to his arm with an adorable pout on her face if he asked to let go...but on the other hand, that would have been a sight to see.
"We immediately became friends, we were so close that it seemed like we were almost inseparable...but it still didn't change the fact that I was still in love with him. As his friend there were many things that I have noticed...l-like his love for his c-childhood friend..."
Tears started forming in her eyes once again. Why am I so weak?
Kasamatsu then held Kyou's hand, holding her as if she was something fragile, hands that were so warm and gentle. Tears streamed out her eyes as Kyou's voice started breaking.
"I-It hurt so much..I tried my best n-not to give up, but it was hard. Every mention of her, I saw the way he looked. With eyes so soft and gentle...and I wondered why he couldn't ever see me the same way? Of course she was beautiful though...her name was Miki Kawasaki."
"Miki Kawasaki...wasn't she a model?" Kasamatsu questioned.
Kyou nodded, a bitter smile forming on her face. "Yes...one of America's top models, she was also extremely beautiful...h-how could I compare?"
You're just as beautiful, no, even more beautiful than any girl in the world. Why can't you realize that Kyou?
"She had the most perfect caramel colored hair that would swirl into curls."
Your light, silky teal blue hair that smells like sakura blossoms and peach, is at the envy of every girl.
"She had an hourglass figure...something that every girl would die for..."
Your figure may not be like a supermodel's but it's just right. You're filling in the right spots Kyou...GAH! Stop acting like some pervert!
"She was also nice when we first met, she even asked me to be her friend..."
"Nice!? Kyou you are the epitomy of kindness! You're the most selfless girl I have ever met. You care more about others than yourself Kyou, you once wasted 5 hours of your time helping a granny find her daughter's house!
"When I met her, I thought that it was no wonder Ryouta fell for her...but I still couldn't give up! I was always besides him. I made his favorite onion gratin soup whenever he was sick, I always stuck up for him whenever jealous guys would tell me that Ryouta was a playboy, and I cheered my heart out whenever he made a shot in a game..."
"Oh! But that didn't mean that I didn't cheer for senpai or Tetsu though!" Kyou said as she frantically waved her hand.
Kasamatsu smirked at her comment. "Of course. You were our own personal cheer squad, you were cheering just as loudly whenever I made a shot. I would have been disappointed if you didn't."
"Baka senpai..." Kyou mumbled as she flicked Kasamatsu's forehead, blushing that he recalled such an embarrasing memory.
"Ittai...that hurt you know..." Kasamatsu mumbled as he rubbed his forehead.
"Pfft! You d-deserved it though..." Kyou giggled as she stared at the red mark that had started appearing on Kasamatsu's forehead.
Kyou then looked at the night sky, staring at the stars that were twinkling brightly.
"I tried everything, but he never looked my way...so one day I was just fed up with all of my attempts that just backfired on me...so I confessed. 'I love you Ryouta' was what I said..."
Kyou softly chucked as she then stood up, brushing the dirt off her skirt.
"He responded with a 'Me too'. I really was a naive little girl... He never said he loved me, nevertheless said he liked me, but I was so relieved. He was very kind to me...and he respected my feelings. I was happy that he was even willing to...try...and..."
Her voice grew quieter and quieter. You had to be completely silent if you wanted to hear her say the last two words.
"...reciprocate them..."
Kasamatsu suddenly stood up, brushing off the dirt from the back of his pants as he then looked down at Kyou and flicked her forehead.
"ITTAI!" Kyou squeaked as she then crouched to the floor, holding her forehead with pain.
"Idiot...Kise wouldn't have had a seven year relationship with you if he had no feelings for you! I'm sure of it..." Kasamatsu said as put his hands in his coat pockets.
Kyou still remained crouched to the ground, not really believing what Kasamatsu had said. "But I really was stupid...I wanted to believe that he had loved me. But in the back of my mind, I was scared...scared that he was only dating me to forget his love for Miki-san..."
Kasamatsu sighed.
What are you doing Kise! What could you have done to scar Kyou so much? Everything that was so wonderful about her...gone! Her smile, her innocent and trusting personality...where did it go!?
He roughly ruffled his hair in agitation.
"Over time I came to believe that Kise really did fall for me, we were so happy..." Kyou smiled slightly as she thought of the happy memories they shared in their seven year relationship.
"But...that quickly came to an end..."
Kyou laid in her bed, blankly looking up at the ceiling. Her face expressionless, as she raised an arm in the air. She then stared at the white object in her hand, waving it in the air as she kept reading the words imprinted on the object repeatedly.
"I'm pregnant."
In her hand was a pregnancy test. And if she was wrong, the blue line means positive...and positive equals pregnant.
At 19 years old she was pregnant. A college student who had her life ahead of her at Tokyo University, it was not the right time to be pregnant with a child!
Kyou didn't know why, but she started feeling something warm in her chest. She felt happy. She was young and ignorant, so shouldn't she feel more...scared, worried, frantic?
But no, she felt calm...happy that something so amazing was growing in her. She tentatively touched her stomach, a soft smile soon reaching her lips.
"I'm going to love you so much..." She whispered.
Silence slowly engulfed the room, Kyou deep in her thoughts as she continued to rub her flat stomach. But suddenly something occurred to her.
What do I say to Ryouta? My parents? Tetsu!? Tetsu is going to be so surprised when he finds out...hopefully he doesn't beat up Ryouta...
She got out her white flip phone, going to her contacts as clicked Kise's number. Putting the phone against her ear, she soon waited as she heard -brring... bbrrinng... I'm sorry, but the caller you are calling is- Kyou then hung up the phone.
"He didn't pick up..." She mumbled as she closed her phone.
Underneath her restless emotions of happiness, excitement, and joy, there was one emotion that seemed to have taken over her...anxiety.
She shouldn't be sitting here, moping around and wondering if her boyfriend would enjoy the news about her pregnancy.
"Yosh!" Kyou cried as she got off of the bed and did a motivational fist pump.
She was going to tell Kise, she was going to tell him that she was pregnant. And that he was of course the father...but she was worried. How will he react when she tells him the news?
I trust Kise...I know he'll be happy. Kyou then touched the silver ring around her finger, the sparkling blue gem gleaming in the light.
I love Ryouta and he loves me. I know he'll be the best father for our child.
Kyou ran downstairs as she grabbed her white coat from the rack, as she quickly sat down on the floor and started to put on her pair of brown ankle boots.
"Kyou?"
Kyou looked back to see her older brother behind her.
"Are you going out?" Kuroko asked when he saw his younger sister fully dressed, and ready to go outside in the snowy weather.
Kyou nodded her head, as she stood up and turned the knob to open the door.
"Will you be out late?" Kuroko questioned again, concern evident in his voice as he stared at her retreating figure. He knew his sister wouldn't be going out at 8 o clock at night if there wasn't an important reason, but as her older brother he had the right to be overprotective.
"I'm not sure...maybe. I'm going to see Ryouta for a bit." Kyou smiled as she pecked Kuroko's cheek. "I'll be back soon." Kyou then walked out of the front door.
"Be safe okay..." Kuroko said in a worried tone while running after her. Kyou turned around and nodded. Kuroko halted as he waved goodbye. "Just be safe Kyou...just be safe..."
As snow was piling up on the streets around her, Kyou would watch the city around her shining brightly. The streets full of colorful christmas lights and decorations that practically screaming holiday cheer, didn't go unnoticed by Kyou as she was skipping down the road and singing holly-jolly carols.
Her favorite holiday being Christmas, Kyou was excited about the holiday. This holiday season, Kise decided that they should go on an romantic getaway to the hot springs.
At first, she denied the thought of going on the trip. Sure it was romantic and sweet, but it must have been expensive! Kise had been saving up from his job as a model, but she didn't want to spend his hard earned money on a weekend trip.
Kyou was more of a girl who would rather spend her day with her boyfriend, curled up under a warm blanket as they cuddled, and watching scary movies together. Isn't that romantic? But no, Kise being as stubborn as he is, said that she deserved the best.
She soon gave into his whims and they are now having a weekend trip to Kyoto, at a world famous hot spring!
Walking with a slow pace as she watched the happy people around her, she sang.
Last Christmas
I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
This year
To save me from tears
I'll give it to someone special...
She continued singing her favorite Christmas song as she sooned arrived at Kise's apartment. Walking up the metal stairs to his apartment, as the sound of her boot heels could be heard with each step, she soon reached the front door.
She rung the door bell, but there was silence.
"Ah! I remember Ryouta telling me that the bell broke." Kyou then tried to peek through the window.
"Ryouta must be sleeping... he won't be grumpy when I wake him, hopefully he'll be excited when I tell him the news."
Kyou rustled through her purse until she finally found the key that Kise had given her. She smiled. She remembered the day that Kise had given her the key, signifying that they were a true couple, and that he trusted her enough with the key of his home.
Placing the key inside the door knob, she quickly turned it as she opened the door to the apartment.
The entire apartment was dark, not hearing a single peep, as she crept inside and slowly closed the door.
She sat on the floor and took off her shoes before standing up. "Where should Ryouta be? In his room?" She whispered as she headed toward his bedroom. She quietly walked through the silent hallway, as her eyes spotted Kise's bedroom door slightly open.
Kyou heard muffled noises. Curious at what the noises were, she pushed the door open. Surprised at the sight before her, she gasped.
Kyou simply stood there in front of the doorway, eyes wide, as tears started streaming out of her Carribean blue eyes. There was no amount of shock to numb or soften the blow to her heart. The gorgeous woman who was straddling Kise, kissing him with so much need and want, her slender finger dangerously sliding close to his jean zipper.
The woman known as Miki Kawasaki, suddenly being interrupted from her heavy make-out session, shot her a look full of surprise and smug.
"Ara ara...is that Kyou-chan?" She then faced Kise as she gave him a quick peck on his lips. "Ryou why is she here?
Kyou could barely hear her. All she could see was Kise, surprised and guilty, his mouth slightly agape when he saw her.
When had Kise ever kiss her like...like that? Like she was an object of his desire? Even when they kissed or...did the deed...had he ever?
Never... A cold voice in her head said as it taughted her. He only used you as a replacement to replace her, nothing more...nothing less, a substitute...
"Ryou," Miki crooned as she hung onto Kise. "Haven't you told Kyou-chan yet? That you were going to break up with her? The poor thing!" Miki then leaned in and kissed Kise's neck, leaving a evident hickey on the spot that she kissed.
"Get off of me Miki..."
Miki ignored Kise and attempted to kiss him again.
Kyou couldn't hold it anymore.
The emotions started to swell up inside of her.
Anger.
She wasted her time on a man that didn't want her in the first place.
Sadness.
There was no way of going back. She was pregnant with the child of the man that cheated and never loved her.
Humiliation.
Had she been strung up by Ryouta this whole time? A sad excuse of a replacement?
Hurt.
Ryouta probably didn't feel the same pain she did, seeing that he had his gorgeous childhood friend in bed with him.
Most of all...shame.
She feel so ashamed, that she wasn't able to satisfy Kise at all. That Kyou wasn't able to make him fall out of love with Miki and fall in love with her, after all these years...that hurt.
Her fist trembled at her side.
Failure...she failed...her years of effort of trying to make him fall in love with her, failed.
"Kyou..." Kise weakly called out.
Kyou's head shot up, eyes full of fury, hurt, humiliated tears swimming in her eyes.
"No more..." Kyou was sick and tired of this, had their relationship mean anything to him? The wonderful memories that were made quickly shattered at the moment.
"I've had enough," Kyou said, barely managing to control the anger in her voice, unable to stop a single tear of humiliation stream down her cheeks. "I-I don't want to do this anymore."
"I..." Kise started, but she interrupted him.
"I-I loved you, I loved you so much that my heart filled with joy whenever I was with you...but," Kyou's voice cracked. "H-have you ever felt the same for me? W-Was I just a replacement?"
"This..." Kyou roughly lifted her hand in the air, and tore off the ring on her finger.
"This means nothing!" Kyou screamed, tears endlessly falling as she threw it at him, the ring hitting Kise's chest as it fell to the floor.
Kyou heavily panted, turning to leave before giving him one last tear-filled gaze.
"I-I never want to see you again..." After that was said, she ran. Leaving her shoes as she ran out of the apartment as fast as she could.
She slammed the door open as the the cold pricked her entire body, ignoring the feeling as she went head first to the frozen outside world.
She met the cold winter air, her feet meeting the snow as it harshly froze her feet, tearing through the soles of her stockings as she continue to run. The snow hitting Kyou's cheeks, the icy wind blowing through her hair, none of this distracts her, as she tried to get away.
"Why?" Kyou cried out, tears still flowing from her face. Her face was burning from the cold, as she continued run. Kyou suddenly tripped on her feet, her tear-filled face met the snow.
"W-why?" Kyou whimpered. "Why couldn't we be happy..."
"After all of that happened...I ran home. Crying my eyes out in Tetsu's arms as I told him everything. My pregnancy, Ryouta, everything..."
Kasamatsu trembled. He was angry. Angry that he wasn't there at Kyou's time of need and that he couldn't protect her.
"My parents weren't mad at me when I told them, but they were worried of the state of my mental heath. I was 19 years old, pregnant, and the father not being there to raise the baby with me...of course they would be worried..."
"They quickly planned on me moving to Kamakura to live with my grandfather. They wanted me far away from the stress of the city and they wanted me to relax and spend my time peacefully with the baby."
"So that's why you moved away so quickly, without saying a word of goodbye..." Kasamatsu whispered.
Kyou nodded. "Mama and Papa wanted me to leave as soon as I could...so after making a few phone calls, I was told to pack my bags and to immediately go to Kamakura."
Kyou quickly stood up, her arms spread wide, as she twirled around, a tearful smile on her face. "And so I did...nineteen years old at the time, clueless and alone in a town I never lived in. I was scared."
"I spent my days with jii-chan, harvesting fruit and vegetables from his small farm as I went to college majoring in English and education. After a few months or so, I soon gave birth to my beautiful son Kyouta on the 30th of May. Soon after he was born, I quickly got my diploma, and became a full fledged teacher!"
Kyou stopped spinning as she soon stood in front of Kasamatsu.
"Ten years I was gone...from that time, I raised my son without a father and became a teacher. But that time didn't last...jii-chan told me that I had to go back...back to Tokyo. He didn't want me to run away from the reality of life, so he called Tetsu and planned me on coming back..."
Silence.
Kyou looked up at Kasamatsu with a sad eyes. "Sorry...I must be bringing the mood down with my pathetic life story...I pr-"
Kyou was cut off by Kasamatsu's sudden embrace, pulling her in a hug so tight that she could barely breath.
"Sorry..." Kasamatsu whispered, holding Kyou's head to his chest. Slightly shaking as he held her in his arms.
"S-sorry? You don't have anything to be sorry for senpai!"
"I'm sorry that I was never there for you, I'm sorry that I wasn't able to kick Kise's ass, I'm sorry that I wasn't able to listen to your problems like we used to-" Kasamatsu continued on with her laundry list of apologies, Kyou's eyes softened.
She softly returned his embrace.
"I'm the one to be sorry...I left all of my precious friends behind because of my own fear and selfishness...I should be the one apologizing..." Kyou whispered.
They broke their embrace. As their eyes soon met.
Kasamatsu looked at her with his signature smile. "Apology accepted, how could I ever be mad at you?"
They smiled at each other until Kasamatsu mischievously smirked. "But I'll only accept your apology Kyou...if you let me see your son."
Surprise appeared in her eyes as Kyou suddenly smile grew even wider. "Mmn! Let's go! Kyouta will be happy that he will have another basketball friend to play with."
"Basketball? Your son plays basketball?" Kasamatsu questioned as they slowly headed out of the playground.
Kyou nodded proudly as she followed after Kasamatsu. "Of course! Being surrounded by basketball idiots all of my life, Kyouta obviously took up basketball."
"Is that so? Is he any good? Because you just sound like one of those parents who say that their kids are the best at everything, when they truly aren't." Kasamatsu teased as he pulled Kyou's cheek.
"Ah! Senpai...Kyouta is the best! You'll be amazed! He is the ace player at his elementary school!" Kyou exclaimed as a playful smile appeared on her lips. "Ahhh...but don't be so amazed that you would kidnap him, with that stalker mentality of yours..."
"WHAT STALKER MENTALITY!? You were the one who thought I was a stalker when we met again! What is wrong with your head?" Kasamatsu exclaimed as he ruffled Kyou's hair.
"Baka senpai!" Kyou hollered, as they continued to taunt and tease each other.
Having a 'pleasant' conversation as they walked to Kuroko's house, they finally reached the humble abode as Kasamatsu finally met Kyouta.
Kyouta being his adorable self, instantly calling Kasamatsu uncle. The title making Kasamatsu blushing a shade of crimson as everybody was awing and cooing at how cute he was.
Dinner coming soon, Kasamatsu was about to excuse himself home since his dinner was apparently cup ramen, but Kyou dragged him back to the table. Forcing him to stay since it wasn't heathy to live on ramen and tea.
As they ate dinner ( that Tetsu made ) Kyouta learned that Kasamatsu played basketball. With a new friend and foe, Kyouta challenged Kasamatsu to a match against himself and Kuroko. The prize being a kiss from Kyou!
They took the match outside, as it was played very seriously between the guys. The match continued with Kasamatsu making shots and doing some lay ups, to Kuroko using his phantom drive, Kyouta had fun that night.
Satsuki cheering for her beloved husband as Kyou cheered for her son. Yells could be heard from Kasamatsu, telling Kyou to throw in a few cheers for himself, as she stuck out her tongue at her senpai.
Cheers and hollers could be heard throughout the household as the day that started out as hell to Kyou, suddenly became fun and peaceful.
But little did Kyou know, that those peaceful days...would soon to be gone. With a troublesome blonde interfering in her life once again.
