"I thought you didn't like him," David smirked as he leaned one shoulder against the doorframe and folded his arms over his chest.

"Me liking him and him liking me are two entirely different things," she drawled out as she flipped the page of her book.

"Sure it is," he teased lightly but couldn't stop smiling at the scene before him. It was late at night and the fire was burning strong in the hearth, warming both fiancé and puppy as they made themselves comfortable on the couch. Regina sat with her back straight and her legs stretched out and resting on the coffee table as she read from a book resting upon the edge of her pregnant belly. And the puppy was happily draped across the top of her enormous belly and against her chest fast asleep with his paws hanging off either side of her and his chin rested in the bend of her elbow.

He couldn't help himself. He pulled his phone from his pocket and carefully and silently framed the picture, pressing the shutter just as Regina looked up at him from above her reading glasses with thick black frames. She didn't say anything. Simply rolled her eyes with a small smirk and focused back on her book. The warm light of the fire, his heavily pregnant love, the glasses, and the puppy she so begrudgingly adored asleep upon her belly. How could he not take a picture.

With a soft chuckle he slid his phone back in his pocket and stepped over to the couch so he could nuzzle himself in to Regina's side and rest his head against hers. The puppy didn't so much as twitch when he rubbed his hand over its small head. Because he and Henry had brought him home without permission or notice, they had agreed to let Regina name it. She had thought about it for a little while but it wasn't too long before she had given them a name. Louis. short for Louis Vuitton. It had David grinning like a damn idiot every time.

That had been roughly a week ago and the puppy now had a designer leather collar and an engraved name tag. The name still made him grin and laugh. "I adore you," he chuckled lightly as he kissed her temple and she hummed and turned the next page.

"I suppose I have moments of mutual adoration for you," she replied with a smirk that began pulling a little harder on her lips.

David simply chuckled a little more before he softly let it die and nuzzled his face in to her hair and stayed there and she gave a long happy with and leaned her head in to his in return. "I love you," he whispered in to her ear and knew she smiled.

"I love you more."

"That's impossible."

"You know nothing of impossible," she breathed with a smile as she tilted her head back so she could look at him. He smiled down at her in a way that was just complete and utter adoration and it had her heart skip a little in her chest as warmth spread through her.

"Mmmm I think I know enough," he breathed and she lolled her head back on to his shoulder, her smile never fading. "I love these," he grinned as he looked over her dark rimmed glasses and she rolled those big brown eyes and failed at holding back her grin as she looked back to her book.

"I am glad one of us does."

"They are adorable and sexy," he grinned and kissed the side of her head, "and they keep you from using unnecessary magic when you read."

"How do you know if I actually need them to read. For all you know I just wear them so I get to see you look at me like you can't decide if you want to nestle me in your side under a blanket and binge watch tv with a giant bowl of popcorn or fuck me until I'm sweating and screaming your name until I am hoarse," she smirked and turned the page of her book, a low laugh rumbling in her throat when he kissed her jaw.

"I am never not looking at you like that," he argued quietly and she laughed a little more which had him laughing gently against her ear. "Come on. Let's get to bed," he smiled and she hummed in protest and leaned her head against his.

"Just a little bit longer."

...

"Aurora, what are you doing?" Regina drawled out but gave a quiet smirk as she looked over to the girl and the camera lens pointed at her face. She had gifted the princess with a proper camera. A big one with several lenses. Regina hadn't intended to be the woman's muse but it seemed no matter what she said or did to discourage it over the weeks, Aurora ended up pointing the camera at her regardless.

"Taking your picture," she chirped and Phillip laughed quietly beside her.

"Of me stirring my coffee?"

"Mhm."

"Why?"

"Because the lighting is perfect."

"Well then by all means, continue," Regina replied with as much sarcasm as she could bear but it didn't seem to register in the princess' mind and the click of the shutter was heard regardless. Regina merely laughed under her breath with a roll of her eyes.

"Your dog won't stop following me around," Cora sighed as she frowned at the clumsy puppy bouncing behind her as she walked in to the kitchen.

"He likes you," Regina chuckled and cautiously sipped at her coffee.

"Whatever for?"

"I don't know. It couldn't possibly be your welcoming demeanour," she smirked playfully and Cora gave a humourless laugh out her nose.

"Good morning, darling," Cora greeted and kissed her daughter's cheek before settling in beside her and leaning back against the counter while the puppy sat at her feet and stared patiently and happily up at her.

"Good morning, mother," Regina replied and gently nudged her shoulder against Cora's, earning herself a smile from the older woman.

"It is still strange to me to be in the company of two women with such terrifying reputations and feel so completely welcome and safe," Phillip commented with a light laugh.

"Try not to spread the word," Regina smirked from behind her mug.

"Oh I wouldn't dream of it," he teased back and the beautiful queen laughed softly. And then the woman's brow furrowed ever so slightly and her grip tightened around her mug for a moment. "Are you alright, your majesty?" He questioned in concern and she took a deep breath.

"How many times do I have to tell you not to call me that," she breathed with a smile and slowly put her mug on the counter and everyone's eyes followed the movement with worried frowns. "I was just coming to the realization that none of you know how to drive. That's all. Mother, we need to work on that."

"I have no intention of driving one of those death traps. Whatever has you thinking of such a thing anyway?" She was answered with a long shaky breath that did nothing to calm her worried heart.

"Because my water just broke. And none of you morons can drive me to the hospital," she pushed out and then hummed unsteadily through the growing pain in her abdomen.

"Oh...o-oh! Oh shit, what do you want us to do?" Cora laughed excitedly and started fussing over her daughter who only shook her off. But Cora could only grin and Phillip and Aurora were just as useless.

...

"And that is basically it," Emma nodded and Mulan laughed nervously. Then her phone started vibrating in her pocket and with a smile she answered it, "what's up, Madam Incubator?"

"You've had better."

"Yeah I'm partial to the Teletuby one."

"I thought the Trojan horse one was clever."

"Oh yeah," Emma laughed and then sighed with a grin as she sat on the corner of Mulan's desk, "that was a good one."

"You are hopeless."

"So you've told me," Emma chuckled, "so what's up? You gonna pop that thing out soon?"

"It would seem that way, yes."

"Shit, seriously?!"

"Yes."

"Yeah, um, okay, is the baby still arguing with you over magic?"

"Yes. Neither Cora or I can poof me to the hospital and no one in this damn house can drive a car. So if you think you can manage getting me to the hospital in that yellow lunch box in one piece, I would very much appreciate the gesture."

"Absolutely, I'm leaving right now. Where is David?"

"Your guess is as good as mine."

"Alright well I'll try to get ahold of him."

"Thank you."

"Well I think it's about time you get that stubborn little hellion out of there. It's not even born yet and it's arguing with you over your life choices. What's it gonna do when it starts speaking," Emma laughed and hurried out of the station.

"Do shut up, Miss Swan."

...

David was greeted by the sound of Regina's scream the moment he turned the corner and it had him running even harder than before. He had been caught up in a case for Rumple and was getting in to his truck when he finally looked at his phone to find twenty seven missed calls split up between Regina and Emma. He of course panicked and immediately called Regina back but there had been no answer. That only settled the dread deeper in his gut as he called Emma. But his dread was replaced with joy the moment Emma answered with 'where the hell are you!? Your kid is about to be born and Regina is going to kill you!'

He had never driven to the hospital so fast in his life. He had called Snow to ask her to pick up Henry from school rather than the boy taking the bus home to an empty house just for the sole reason that she came first to his mind. Upon further reflection the safer option would have been to ask Red but he hadn't really been thinking about Regina's preferences. He didn't imagine she would hold a grudge anyway while holding their brand new baby in her arms.

"Oh David! There you are!" Aurora breathed out in relief as she jogged to him and pulled him with her to the door, "quickly, quickly, the contractions are getting closer together."

"How long has she been in there?" He panted and Phillip was the one who answered.

"A little over two hours now."

"She's going to kill me," David breathed and Aurora and Phillip laughed while Aurora gave him another push.

"Get in there and make it up to her before it's too late," she chuckled and without another word he pushed open the door to the room just as Regina let out another outcry of pain.

He was greeted with a glare and a slow head shake from Emma as she walked toward him, "I know, I know, I'm late."

"You are so late! Get over there!" She snapped at a whisper but couldn't help but smile at the excitement on his face as he hurried to Regina's side.

He placed his hand between Cora's shoulder blades and the woman snapped her head around and let Regina squeeze her hand to a pulp as she screamed in time with another contraction.

"You're late."

"So I've been told," he nodded and Cora smiled a little and turned her focus back to Regina so she could push the hair out of her eyes before she let go of her daughter's hand so he could take it instead. He did so quickly and eagerly with a grateful nod as Cora swapped places with him. "I'm here, my love, I'm here," he assured and squeezed her hand as he pressed a kiss to her temple and she let out a sharp sob of relief and gripped his hand.

"Where the hell have you been?!" She cried out and he laughed and kissed her head again.

"I was dealing with Rumple, I am sorry, I'm not going anywhere. I promise," he assured and she let out a tired sob and tipped her head against his.

"I hate you so much right now," she gritted out and then let out a long hard cry as another contraction came over her.

David could only laugh as tears of joy glossed his eyes and ran his fingers through her sweaty hair and didn't say a word about how much she was hurting his hand. "I love you so much," he told her and she pushed her head back in to her pillow and kept a white knuckled grip around his hand.

"Shut up, you bastard!" She growled and vaguely felt him kiss her temple as the pain threatened to cripple her.

...

The room was pierced with the sharp cry of new life and immediately Regina was crying at the sound. A low and harsh cry that shook her body as she released David's hand and placed hers over her face. David was showering her with loving compliments and excited comments to look at their child but she could only cry. She had been pregnant and she knew there was a life growing inside her but she had always held on to the doubt that this was all going to work out for her. That that potion Rumple had given her all of those years ago still lingered inside her and that her baby would die because of it.

But that sharp cry of her daughter pushed her to the brink of hysterics as she cried in joy and relief.

Cora had followed her new grandchild like a moth to a flame as the doctor and nurses made certain she was healthy and alright. The tiny cries of her little self brought tears to Cora's eyes as she laughed and watched her scream and flail as the nurse wrapped her in a little pink blanket. She had been devastated to learn that Regina had made herself unable to bear a child and very much like her daughter she had been waiting for something to happen to the child. But nothing happened. The curse had indeed been broken and the proof was being handed to her in a tightly wrapped pink bundle.

"Would you like to hold your grandchild?" The nurse offered and didn't mention the fact that despite it all, she was still wary of getting anywhere near the queen turned mayor.

Cora could only nod as she laughed while the tears rolled down her cheeks. The darling infant still cried and Cora carefully held the baby to her chest and laughed happily as she ran her finger gently around the child's brow, "hello," she laughed and softly sniffed back her tears as she slowly turned and walked to Regina, "you are so beautiful," she laughed softly and kissed the baby's nose. She could not explain the joy and love that filled her. She had no words to describe what it felt like to hold such a precious gift so close to her.

"You have a beautiful daughter, Charming," Cora smiled and the first of David's tears fell as he studied the swaddled babe in her arms with a laugh.

"Regina," he called through his teary laughter as he squeezed her elbow and she continued to cry, "Regina she is beautiful," he laughed and pressed a hard kiss to her the side of her head and she let her hands fall from her face but didn't open her eyes just yet, "she is beautiful, my love."

Slowly Regina opened her eyes, still unsure if it was all real. She didn't think she had ever smiled so wide than when her eyes fell on an emotionally overwhelmed Cora holding her child until she was ready to take her herself. Cora was laughing and crying and tracing the baby's face with such love and tenderness that Regina found herself crying all over again. "Can I hold her?" She whimpered and then cried through her teeth and Cora laughed in adoration and leaned forward.

"Of course you can," she assured in a tender coo and carefully handed her granddaughter to her daughter's shaking and hesitant hands.

The very moment her daughter was fully in her hold, Regina was crying again and David was right beside her grinning through his tears as he whispered a joyous 'hello' to their baby girl and pressed the gentlest of kisses to her head of thick dark hair. Regina laughed and cried as her child filled her tiny lungs with air and cried out upon her exhale and fought at the blanket holding her arms to her chest. "You are so beautiful," Regina cried softly and the baby settled at the sound of her voice which only had Regina's tears falling faster as she cried and laughed and kissed her forehead.

Her daughter quieted completely at the contact and it had Regina crying through her teeth as she cradled her tiny head in one hand and rested her forehead upon her daughter's. She could feel David's hand tangle in her hair as he kissed her head while his other hand other moved over her forearm so he could hold their child with her. She was perfect.

Snow had poked her head in to the room after Henry had quietly snuck inside to see his baby sister. Going by the pink blanket it was swaddled in, Snow felt it safe to assume it was a baby girl unless the hospital had miraculously run out of blue blankets. No Snow had not completely accepted the idea of Regina and David together and no she was not at all thrilled by this pregnancy. Not at all. But when she peeked inside the scene she was presented with settled every disapproval she held regarding the situation.

She understood it now. Everything made sense and she was able to let it all go and come to peace with it all. She had never played witness to such overwhelming happiness as Regina cried against her newborn baby and David laughed and cried over his tiny baby while Cora stood beside him in no better condition and Emma stood off to the side with her arms folded over her chest, tears in her eyes, and a wide smile. It was all so perfect and touching and Snow couldn't help but smile and rest her head against the doorframe, only flinching when she heard a click of a shutter next to her head and she swung her head around to find Aurora with her camera and a long lens subtly capturing the precious moment.

Aurora smiled in an apology and then offered to show Snow what she had captured and hesitantly Snow looked down to see the photo on the screen of the camera. Regina smiling through her tears as her forehead rested upon her daughter's as her tiny fragile fingers gently grasped at the tip of Regina's finger after fighting it's way out of her blanket. It was an absolutely precious capture and Snow's heart wrenched at the sight of it but she couldn't look away. Had Regina ever loved her like that?

Henry crawled up on to the bed with his mother and rested his chin on her shoulder so he could look at his baby sister. His mother didn't look at him but he knew she knew it was him beside her and he was too enthralled in the tiny human in her arms to notice her look at him even if she had. Everyone was crying and everyone was laughing and Henry was just thrilled. "She's so tiny," he commented with a light laugh and laughed a little more when his mother lifted her head to rest it against the side of his.

"I remember when you were this tiny," she laughed a little and sniffed softly.

"Really?"

"Mhm," she nodded and then kissed his cheek. She could feel the fatigue setting in now. She didn't know how long she had been in that hospital but she knew for certain it had been hours and she was finally starting to feel it, "would you like to hold her?"

"Are you sure? I don't want to like break her or something," he added worriedly and she laughed with a small shake of her head.

"You won't break her," she told him softly and gently transferred her sleeping princess to her little prince that was no longer so little, "just support her head."

"Okay," Henry smiled as he awkwardly held his baby sister and haphazardly adjusted his hold until she was settled against his chest and their mother pressed a loving kiss to his shoulder before she rested her head there and watched her, "what's her name?"

Regina smiled as she opened her hand and David's immediately filled it. She squeezed it tight and didn't let go and when she glanced his way he was busy grinning at their daughter with tears still in his eyes. "Amelia," she breathed and David laughed happily and Henry grinned as he wiggled his finger until Amelia took hold of it.

"I like it," he approved and his mother hummed.

David couldn't stand it anymore and when Regina looked his way again he dropped his head and caught her in a strong kiss as his fingers buried themselves in her dark hair that was still somewhat damp with sweat. He couldn't care less about that though. This beautiful strong woman had given him a child against all odds and he didn't think he could love her more but he did. He kissed her and her hands took hold of his shirt and kissed him right back as he wiped away her tears with his thumbs and continued to do so even after their kiss as he pushed his forehead against hers.

"Congratulations, Ms Mills. Your daughter is perfectly healthy," Whale smiled and the tired woman looked his way and David kissed her temple, "I have no doubts that you will be able to go home with her today."

"Thank you, Whale," she nodded and the man smiled pleasantly, "now get out of my sight before I kill you," she nodded at him and smirked a little when he laughed and nodded as he turned and made his leave.

"Don't forget to feed her."

Regina hummed and smiled as she looked to her daughter. As if she would forget to feed her. She had never breastfed before. She couldn't wait.

"You want to hold her, David?" Henry offered with a grin and David didn't so much as think to hesitate before he was reaching for Amelia.

David held her to him with ease as he grinned and laughed and Regina gave him the most adoring smile as she watched. "Oh you are just as beautiful as your mother," he grinned as he sat in the chair next to Regina's bed. He didn't think he had ever been so happy. And there was no impending doom this time around so he was allowed to relax and enjoy his baby girl to the fullest while Regina's fingers slowly moved over his scalp through his hair. "Look at you."
