Before I get to my usual introduction, I'd like to thank everybody that helped me in taking down the plagiarizer (even though you guys weren't allowed to submit the complaint). It really means a lot to me with all the support, so thank every one of you :)
Hey, people. We have reached the forty chapter mark, which is right around the halfway point depending on how long the next few arcs are, but there are going to be at least thirty more chapters. Now let's get back to what happened last chapter. Owen and Moe battled for a second time, and Moe won after his Clauncher defeated both Greninja and Tyrunt. This chapter the group will continue their voyage to Lumiose City by crossing through the desert, which won't be as easy as expected. Let's get going!
Defender31415: Thanks, and haha. I've got a few ideas right now where I could 'get rid of' a character within the next few chapters, or I might spare them. I don't know when it'll happen, because I don't want to kill someone off just for the sake of having someone die
guest: Yeah, I feel like he's got a good team and he's a way better trainer than in previous stories. Part of the reason why he's losing so much more is because most of the OC's are from other stories, so neither myself or the other authors want the rivalries to be one sided
MCMXCV: Such praise, much like :P In all seriousness, thanks for the compliment! And the Pokemon won't be ground types, and they aren't found there in the games, but good guesses
FlameStriker123: Haha, whenever Owen doesn't compliment one of his Pokemon, assume that they're still in the battle. And I didn't see any typos with Clauncher, so I'm not sure what you're pointing out
ShadowDragon9000: Thanks, bud :3
SomeGuy (guest): Don't worry, it'll start getting more action packed after Owen's gym battle, and I'm glad you liked the chapter :)
SinnohBlaze (guest): There actually will be a capture this chapter, but it won't be a ground type. I'd like to say more, but I guess you'll just have to read to find out ;)
Sasson (guest): That's a great idea.
The 6th Spectral King: As much as I'd love to have Owen catch a Pancham, he sadly won't be. There will only be one more addition to his team, and that'll be a fairy type, who'll be joining in the Laverre Arc
leobutler: Thanks for trying :)

"Can someone remind me why we didn't set up camp outside the desert?" Brooklyn shouted as she and the others walked through the tunnel that connected the outskirts of Coumarine City to Route 13.
"Don't worry about it. We'll pass through here in less than an hour, and we'll be in Lumiose before you know it," Owen reassured the blonde while smiling. "Besides, how bad could be the desert be?"
"You're right. I doubt we'll run into any trouble," Brooklyn concurred as she and the four other travelers stepped out of the tunnel and were blasted by a gust of frigid air. The trainers looked around at the lifeless desert and shivered except for Charizard, who was nice and toasty thanks to the fire on his tail. Greninja, meanwhile, tugged on Owen's arm, so Owen withdrew the freezing Pokemon.
"This is horrible," Cindy muttered as she followed Owen and Charizard while Daniel and Eddy began to wrap themselves in layers of coats. She then noticed Owen had his arm around Brooklyn and had given her his coat, which puzzled her, though she didn't say anything as the group continued their way through the desert. "We should probably set up camp and start traveling tomorrow morning," the girl suggested loudly, grabbing everyone's attention.

After about an hour of aimlessly wandering around the desert, the temperature continued to drop, and all five trainers could see their breath escaping their mouth or nostrils. Even Charizard had begun to shiver slightly, but he refused to let anyone know how cold he was, and he continued to provide the group with fire as he lit the pile of wood with his tail.
"Thanks, Charizard. I want you to take a rest," Owen said as he tried withdrawing the fire lizard. Charizard growled at his trainer in response, but Owen still zapped him back into his Pokeball. The group quickly huddled around the fire and everyone rubbed their hands together before placing them near the fire in an attempt to stay warm.
"I never knew it was possible to be this cold," Eddy said while trembling. The four older kids looked at him and saw that his entire body was in his sleeping bag while his face was the only part sticking out, making him look like a caterpillar.
"Agreed. I think I might turn into a block of ice," Cindy commented.
As the group continued talking about how cold they were, ten eyes stared at them before looking back at each other. The owners of said eyes continued to watch the group of trainers and began to move in on them, stopping when they thought the humans had seen them.
"Hey, do any of you feel like we're being watched?" Brooklyn asked as she glanced in the direction of the things staring at them, though she couldn't see because of the darkness.
"No, why?" Daniel asked as he grabbed one of the Pokeballs on his belt. "I don't think there are any people aside from us in this damn desert," he continued.
"Trn," a voice growled, catching everyone by surprise. Suddenly, five figures surrounded the group, but they looked like cacti. "Cac!" Suddenly, one of the cacti moved in and swung at Daniel, sending him flying through the air.
"Daniel!" Owen shouted before taking two Pokeballs off his belt and throwing them. "Tyrunt, Pikachu, we need your help!" The aforementioned Pokemon appeared in front of their trainer and looked around, confused as to why he needed them.
"Braixen, Smeargle, go!" Brooklyn yelled. Her first two Pokemon stood next to Owen's, and they looked just as confused until one of the cacti moved in and tried striking them. "Braixen, use Ember! Smeargle, Flamethrower!" The two Pokemon unleashed intense amounts of heat at their foe, and they sent the cactus rolling away, but four more attacked.
"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt! Tyrunt, knock 'em out with Ancient Power!" Pikachu hopped in the air and unleashed several waves of electricity while Tyrunt flung five boulders in different directions. The four other cacti were struck by both attacks, and they disappeared. "Damn, that was weird."
"And painful," Daniel added as he rubbed his back. "What was wrong with those Pokemon?" The others shrugged in response, but Owen put the fire out before throwing his backpack over his shoulder.
"We need to get out of here fast. I don't know if those things are going to attack again, so let's hurry up and get to Lumiose." The other group members nodded along with Owen and hurriedly packed their things up while Daniel released Dragonair from his Pokeball. With that, the five travelers began to make their way towards the Lumiose while the group that had attacked them was recuperating.
"Do you know what kind of Pokemon attacked us, Owen?" Cindy quizzed before yawning and stretching her arms over her head. "They looked like cacti, but I don't any Pokemon that looked like those things."
"The one that attacked Daniel was a Cacturne, but I don't know about the others. They had to have been either Cacturne or Cacnea," the fifteen year old answered calmly as he, Tyrunt, and Pikachu looked around constantly to see if the grass types were near them.
"Nea!" Suddenly, a tiny cactus leaped forward and latched onto Eddy's face, making him scream in shock and pain.
"Dragonair, use Iron Tail on Cacnea!" Daniel commanded while pointing at the creature he struggled to spot. Dragonair flew forward while his tail was glowing silver, and he spiked the Cacnea into the ground, but another Pokemon attacked Dragonair as soon as he finished his attack.
"Runt!" Tyrunt cried as a Cacturne shot out of the ground and clobbered him with a Needle Arm uppercut, but Pikachu came to his defense and latched onto the spiky Pokemon's back, fighting through every bit of pain.
"Smeargle, use Flamethrower on the ground to give us some light!" Brooklyn shouted. Smeargle did as she was told and lit the sand on fire, and the flame shot into the air, providing a massive amount of light. Owen, Brooklyn, Daniel, Eddy, and Cindy looked around and gaped as three Cacturne and what seemed to be twenty Cacnea surrounded them with angered looks, making them all sweat drop.
"Owen, do you mind sending Charizard out for this?" Daniel asked as he, Dragonair, Cindy, and Eddy began to back away towards Brooklyn and Owen, who were standing by their Pokemon. Owen face palmed as he forgot about his strongest Pokemon, and he tossed Charizard's Pokeball in the air.
"Rawr," the fire starter muttered as he was hit by freezing cold winds. His eyes went wide, however, when he saw all of the Cacturne and Cacnea surrounding him, and he began to growl.
"Charizard, you know what to do." The winged lizard grunted in response as he took to the sky and circled around the grass types before he was enveloped in a burning crimson aura. "Blast Burn!" Owen shouted as Charizard opened his mouth and unleashed a wave of red fire that spun like a tornado. All of the grass types were engulfed by the absurdly powerful attack and they cried out in pain before disappearing underground. The fire Charizard had released continued to burn on the sand, providing evermore light, which unveiled the entrance to Lumiose City, though it was going to go out.
"Way to go, Charizard!" Eddy exclaimed as he hugged the Kanto starter, who zipped through the air towards Lumiose City, leaving everyone else behind.
"What do we do about the fire?" Cindy asked the three older teens, who all looked at each other and sighed, knowing that they had to extinguish the flames.
"Greninja, use Water Shuriken on the fire!" Owen shouted. Greninja popped out of his Pokeball and chucked dozens of water stars at the fire, which was put out immediately, prompting Owen to withdraw all of his Pokemon, and the group ran towards the Lumiose entrance. After arriving in the city, the five humans let out a sigh of relief, and they were met by Charizard, who tapped Owen on the shoulder and pointed at Prism Tower with a grin.
"Hey, that's where our contest is!" Daniel exclaimed.
"And that's also the location of Owen's next gym battle," Eddy informed the older boy while grinning excitedly. "Apparently it's the nicest gym in the entire Kalos region!"
"Awesome! Now let's go get some sleep," Cindy concluded. With that, the group made their way to the Pokemon Center closest to them, and they went to sleep immediately.
Man, I did not like writing that chapter at all. No matter how I wrote it, it came out terribly, so this is the best I could do :/ Anywho, I just realized (at the end of writing this) that Owen's gym battle in Coumarine was after the contest, so I've decided to make his battle with Clemont happen before the contest! That means the Laverre Contest will take place before the Laverre gym, because I like to balance the order of the competitions. Till next time, peace out.
Next Chapter: "Tyrantrum vs Heliolisk: A Dinosaur Duel": Owen takes on Clemont in Prism Tower, and he finds out his battle is being broadcasted across Kalos. While Owen and Clemont go back and forth, Frank and Ariel tune into the battle for unknown reasons. Will Owen be able to defeat Clemont and claim his fifth badge?
