Twenty-Five: You Were Chosen

"Who will be going for Jakeline?" Tooth asked the other Guardians. She was getting ready to see the person who had perfect teeth. The best teeth in the world.

"I think Bunny should go, isn't that right Sandy." North told him. Sandy looked at him with a small smile.

"I'm nat going." Bunny said.

"I could go?" Tooth said with a large smile on her face.

"Bunny you know her." North said.

"Sandy knows her too."

"He has job." North sad and Sandy shook his head.

"So do I, I have to go paint eggs."

"You'll have fun." North said and one of the Yeti's brought him a sack and gave it to Bunny, who smiled.

At night Jakeline saw how excited Jaime was with everything that happened. He wanted to see the Tooth fairy, when she knew that the Baby Tooth were the ones to bring in the quarters, she had practice with Clint and herself when she was a little girl. She smiled sadly, because she really should get home to see her own family. She had her hood up and walked on top of the power lines.

"There's something I'm doing wrong?" she said walking. "C-can you just tell me what it is?" she asked the Man in the Moon. "Because I've tried everything and no one sees me in my spirit form." She said to the Moon because no one could answer her questions.

"You've made me like this, the least you can do is tell me why?" she said. She turned her back on the Moon and went on freezing the power-lines and the sand began to appear. She turned around and let her hood down. "Right on time Sandman." She said and ran toward it and touched it, dolphins appeared and she smile because Sandy always let her do this when she visited him. She stayed until it disappeared. Then she heard a noise and it freaked her out.

"Whoa" she said because it crossed in-front of her pretty fast. She ran toward the sound, just in-case there was a problem. She landed in an alley and looked around.

"Hello, Sheila." She heard the voice and jumped a bit. "Being a long time Blizzard of 68 I believe, Easter Sunday wasn't it." Jacqueline saw as Bunny got out of the shadows and pointed at her with his boomerang.

"Bunny." She said leaning on her staff. "You're not still mad about that are you?" she asked with a smirk, she felt bad honestly, she hadn't meant to do that she had been in pain and it had been her first time out, so she didn't have control on her abilities.

"Yes." He said. "But this is about something else." He said and Jakeline looked at him weird thinking about his words "Fellas?"

She was yanked by the hood and she looked to see two Yetis standing there.

"Hey, put me down, what the?" she asked and tried to fight it, she before she could get her knife out she was put on a sack. She heard talking but nothing more, Bunny was going to pay for this, she was going to freeze him. On the outside Bunny was pretty amused at her reaction, he heard the Yetis asked him if he was coming but he knew better than to go in those portals

"Not on your nelly." He said, before he tapped his feet on the ground "See you back at the Pole." and the Yetis put the sack on the portal.

Steve looked out the window and wondered where Jakeline was late, he knew that she was going to leave but she had been gone for a while and he knew from Loki that she would just throw some sprinkling snow.

"She will come home, Steve." He turned to see Clint standing there.

"I'm worried."

"Yeah, she hasn't called." Clint told him. "She'll get home."

"You would think Loki would say something." Steve told him.

"Mom, has a bit of a rivalry with the Eater Bunny from what I know off, so she must be moving fast to where snow is needed." Clint told him, Steve smiled he knew that sometimes Clint didn't like to call Jakeline 'Mum' in-front of him he like knowing he was getting comfortable.

Jakeline fell down and she had a headache they had gone through a portal that she was sure of but she was not sure, where she had landed.

"Shh…she's here, quiet." She heard and the sack open to two little, were those Elves? They ran away from her, she got out mid-way out of the sack and saw the people standing there.

"Hey, there she is Jack Frost." The Russian accent was thick. Jakeline knew him, North, Sandy, and the woman there she knew must be the Tooth Fairy, no she was sure it was the tooth fairy she had seen those fairies when they went to see Clint when he was younger.

"Wow, you've got to be kidding me." She said, she was in the North Pole and she had tried to not break in a while. But she didn't wonder why this was happening and the reason she was there.

"I hope the Yetis treated you well." North asked.

"Oh yeah." She said sarcastically. "I love being shoved in a sack and tossed through a magic portal." She said couldn't they be nice about it to come and see her or go to the Winter Forest and ask for her, they didn't have to kidnap her, but then something came to her mind, why would they kidnapped her.

"Oh good that was my idea." North told her with a smile. Jakeline want to smack her face he was denser than Tony when he had been in his lab for a week.

"You know, Bunny obviously." North told her.

"Obviously." She answered when the Pooka mm-hmm her way.

"And the Tooth Fairy." The brightly colored fairy came her way.

"Hello Jakeline; I've heard a lot about you and your teeth."

"My-my what?" she asked. Did the Tooth Fairy just compliment her teeth?

"Open up are they really as white as they say." she put her hands in Jack's mouth, well okay she had seen weird stuff but this took the cake. "Ah...they really do sparkle like freshly fallen snow." She looked at the little baby tooth and they seemed to be fangirl-ing her teeth. Wow, she didn't know to be flattered or really creped out.

"Girls, put yourselves together." The Tooth fairy said. "Let's not disgrace the uniform."

"And Sandy, SANDY WAKE UP!" North yelled and Jakeline felt bad for him, she knew that he worked every night, he needed a little bit of rest out of all the spirits he had always been kind to her. She decided to put to stop putting off the question she wanted to ask.

"Hey-ho someone wants to tell me why I'm here?" she asked and Sandy volunteered to answer the question. She bent down to look at the pictures but they were too fast.

"That's not really helping, but thanks little man." She said affection. She got up and turned around freezing one of the Elves on her way. "I must've have done something really bad to get you four together." Than something came to mind and she turned around with a slight smirk.

"Am I on the naughty list?" she asked. Hey she didn't exactly try but she always had done something to get in that particular list. That and Santa couldn't ignore her like all the immortals that didn't like her.

"On naughty list?" North asked surprise. "You hold record." Well didn't that just make her day?

"But no matter we overlook, wipe clean the slate." He told her and she saw him wipe his forearm.

"How come?" People didn't do things without a price.

"Huh, good question?" Bunny told her.

"I'll tell you how come? Because now you are Guardian!" He said screaming it with excitement. Jakeline was confused because last she remembered she was an Avenger. That's when music began and the Elves were marching, she backed away just too smack into the Yetis and is pushed forward. The baby tooth tried to get her a necklace; she looked down to an Elf trying to get her to change her boots. The torches were getting really close, so she did the only thing she could do, she slammed her staff on the ground.

"What makes you think I want to be a Guardian?" she asked. North laughed loudly.

"Of course you do." he told her. "Music!" he said.

"No music." She said and one of the Elves threw his trumpet down.

"This is all very flattering, but you don't want me, you're all hard work and deadlines." She said sitting down on the table. "I'm snowballs and fun times, I'm not a Guardian." She honestly hoped this was a joke. Why would they pick her? She spent most of her time in human form now at the moment.

"That's exactly what I said." Bunny told North and Jakeline breathed in. Tooth came forward.

"Jakeline you don't see to understand what it is we do?" she said pointing to the globe. "Each of those lights is a child."

"A child who believes, and good or bad, naughty or nice, we protect them." North explained.

"Ah-ah." Jack said for she was being attacked for her teeth.

"Tooth fingers out of mouth."

"Oops sorry." She said and looked at Jack very fondly. "There so beautiful." Jakeline got down off the table and North got more serious.

"No more wishy-washy Pitch is out there doing who knows what…"

"You mean the boogeyman?" Jakeline asked, she had not met him personally but knew of him because Clint had nightmares as kid terrible ones that had frighten her trying to protect him even if she couldn't.

"Yes, when he threatens us he threatens them as well." North told her.

"All the more reason to pick someone more qualified." Jack told him.

"Pick, you think we picked." North said. "No, you were chosen like we were all chosen, by Man in Moon." North told her and she turned around shocked.

"What?"

"Last night Jakeline, he choose you." Tooth told her.

"Maybe." Bunny said.

"He talks to you?" Jakeline said.

"See you cannot say 'no' it is destiny." North said.

"Why wouldn't he tell me that himself?" she asked, she had talked to the Moon and he never answer. "After three-hundred years this is his answer!" she was angry, she had to be.

"To spend eternity like you guys cooked up in some hide-out thinking of new ways to bribe kids." She told them. "No! That's not for me!" she screamed at the moon, she was not that desperate and yes she had a hide-out but damn it she had to hide for a reason. She breathed as she realizes she was being quite rude, they were just the messengers and she couldn't really blame them. "No offense." She said.

"H-how is that not offensive." Bunny told her. She turned around intending on leaving going home being with Steve and make breakfast for the team. She would have if someone didn't begin to talk.

"You know what I think, I think we dodge a bullet right there, and what does this she knows of bringing joy to children." Bunny told them.

Oh, oh no he didn't go there, not with her she just saved people's lives. He wanted a fight he was going to get one and then she was going to continue her job and go home.

"You ever hear of a snow-day?" she asked "I know is no hard-boiled egg, but kids like what I do?" Bunny got up and looked at her.

"But none of them believe in you, do they?" he asked her and it hurt because some people didn't see her. "Face it your invisible Sheila, it's like you don't even exist." He told her and she didn't cry because she remembered that people that did see her, Clint, Steve and the rest of the Avengers.

"Bunny enough." Tooth said. Jakeline looked down getting her barring before attacking.

"No, the Kangaroo is right?" Jakeline said and she enjoyed the shock on his face.

"The what, what did you just call me; I'm not a kangaroo Sheila." He told her and they got really close.

"And all this time I thought you were, if you're not a kangaroo, what are you?" she asked.

"I'm a Bunny, the Easter Bunny people believe in me." he told her.

"Jakeline walk with me." North told her breaking the fight and she followed him.
