Theme Song

You're on your journey with your friends from the start (shows the group walking down a road together laughing)
There will be bonding and broken hearts (Owen puts his arm over Brooklyn's shoulder)
The power inside will make us strive... (Charizard starts to Mega Evolve)
For greatness! (Split screen of Owen at the Kalos League and Daniel and Brooklyn at the Grand Festival)
Put in the work and you will go far (Haunter evolves, Gengar's face is covered in shadows and she throws a Shadow Ball at the camera)
But what happens when we're torn apart? (Ariel and Blaziken look up at the moon)
A threat will rise, but we'll realize (Frank and Dragonite squaring off with Owen and Charizard)
We can do it together... Pokemon! (Group stands together with their Pokemon)

Well, it's time for the Lumiose Contest, and I'm hoping to get another chapter up after this (unless this is posted at night), and possibly another. So, last chapter was a brief trailer, for lack of a better word, of things to come from Team Grim, and Frank's speech will come at the very end of this chapter. Now, will Brooklyn or Daniel be able to take home the Lumiose ribbon?

Defender31415: That's definitely part of it, but there will be another feature to it

SomeGuy (guest): Lol, I like the terminology. I was going for it being like a trailer/teaser, because I didn't feel like I should try to make something out of a chapter dedicated to building up tension. And I don't plan on having people think Owen's dead, but I'm thinking of having either him or someone else arrive at the final battle in dramatic fashion

MCMXCV: I think I know what you mean, haha. As for Frank's Dragonite, there's a specific word I always bring up whenever I have him address Frank (master), which gives you guys some indication of what their relationship is like

guest: YEEAAH! Someone actually liked and understood the joke! Sorry about that... as for the theme song, it's good to hear you liked it despite its corniness

SinnohBlaze (guest): No problem! When I see an idea I really like, I use it :) In regards to Frank's catchphrase when he activates Stage 2, I'm not completely sure what it'll be, but I have a few ideas in mind

ShadowDragon9000: Yeah, Project Liberation is going to factor into the end of this series, so I'm looking forward to revealing it when the time comes. And Stage 2 is going to be insanely OP, but Owen will eventually be able to counter it with another technique that's my own creation

Emboar-Man (guest): Chespin won't be evolving in this arc, and I'm undecided on whether he will at all. If he does, it'll probably be between the Laverre and Anistar arcs

MTWKing: That's what he'll go for, but it won't be the entire region hunting him down. And the Dark Mega Bracelets are definitely going to present some issues for Owen and the others, but there might be a person or two who can help them overcome it

Earlier in the day

"You can't be serious." Brooklyn stared at Daniel as the teen lounged around in the dining hall of the Pokemon Center with an exhausted look on his face. "Why aren't you competing? If you win you can qualify for the Grand Festival!" Brooklyn shouted while slamming her foot on the ground to add emphasis. Daniel, however, didn't change his mind and he yawned.

"I'm tired. Besides, there are still three other contests to compete in, so I still have a bunch of other opportunities," the sixteen year old responded lazily while he looked over at his Dragonair and Dedenne, both of whom nodded in agreement.

"Just leave him, Brooklyn. We have to go if you want to get to the contest on time," Owen told the girl as he tried to pull her away from Daniel. Greninja laughed as Brooklyn agreed and the group of five began to walk out of the Pokemon Center, while Charizard flew around the city. The fire type roared powerfully as little kids pointed at him in awe, and Greninja ran along the walls of buildings, garnering just as much attention.

"So who are you going to use for your first performance?" Eddy asked as he watched Greninja hop through the air -and across the street- before landing on the other buildings to the right of Owen.

"I don't know yet, to be honest. It'll either be Braixen and Gogoat, or Smeargle and Amaura," Brooklyn answered with a smile before pushing her blonde hair out of her eyes. "I just want to win my first ribbon."

"You will," Owen reassured the blonde, who smiled in response.

"Well, we don't know that for a fact, do we?" Cindy asked rhetorically before shooting a wicked glare at Brooklyn, who scowled right back.

000

"These seats are horrible," Owen muttered as he cracked his back and tried to lean against the uncomfortable chair he was sitting in. The coordinator room didn't allow anyone other than coordinators inside, including those traveling with coordinators, and everyone was forced to sit in the crowd.

"Ja," Greninja spat as he glared at the wooden chair he was subjected to. He then tapped his Pokeball, which was on Owen's belt, and he was zapped inside. Owen and the others laughed at Greninja's displeasure, and Charizard cracked a slight grin while moving over to Owen.

"Welcome, one and all, to the Lumiose City Contest! Today, we have fifteen contestants vying for the Lumiose Ribbon, which will bring them one step closer to winning the Grand Festival! Only two coordinators will make it to the battle rounds, so they will need to make quite the impression if they want any chance of advancing!" the host of the contest announced into her microphone.

"Damn, that's a big cut," Daniel said to Owen, Cindy, and Eddy, who all looked over at him. "They usually have four to eight people advance. I wonder why they decided to use this format."

"Maybe Clemont has another gym battle, so the contest has to be shortened," Cindy opined as the host continued speaking, now focusing on the judges' credentials.

"That could be it," Eddy said while scratching his chin. There were a few battles after Owen's yesterday, so I guess there have to be some today."

000

"Listen up, guys," Brooklyn said to her four Pokemon, who were talking with another. They all turned and stayed silent while their trainer continued. "This is a big opportunity to potentially qualify for the Grand Festival, so we really need to win here. I know that's a lot of pressure to put on you all, but I know you can do it!" the girl exclaimed, making her Pokemon cheer.

"Smeargle and Amaura, I want you two to perform first, okay?" Brooklyn asked before being met with a resounding yes. "Great! Braixen and Gogoat, you two will go in the battle round." The other two Pokemon nodded before all four were withdrawn to their Pokeballs, leaving Brooklyn by herself, or at least that's what she thought.

"Brooklyn!" The girl turned and groaned when Olivia made her way over to Brooklyn with a stupid smile on her face. "How's everything going?"

"Fine," the blonde answered while crossing her arms, not wanting to make conversation with the older girl. Olivia frowned as Brooklyn walked away, but she didn't bother trying to converse with her, instead opting to sit in the corner by herself while watching the TV that would display each performance live.

"Would Brooklyn Moore please report to the stage?" the host of the tournament asked while looking at the camera, which made it looked like she was staring through the TV. The blonde from Unova walked out of the room and down a hallway, holding the Smeargle and Amaura's Pokeballs in her hands. Once she stepped onto the stage, the crowd applauded, and she spotted her friends when Charizard unleashed a Flamethrower, scaring everyone around him.

"Feel free to start whenever you'd like," the judges told Brooklyn as she stopped at the middle of the stage.

"Smeargle, Amaura, take the stage!" Brooklyn shouted as she chucked both Pokeballs in the air. The Pokemon erupted from the spherical devices and curtsied to the crowd, but they stopped when Brooklyn snapped her fingers twice, grabbing their attention. "Amaura, use Avalanche to cover the stage in snow! Smeargle, use Sketch to copy it!" Amaura pointed her head straight in the air before crying as a large cloud appeared at the top of the dome and several inches of snow fell onto the ground while Smeargle's tail began to glow white, and she grabbed it before making paintbrush strokes with it.

"Now, Smeargle, use Countershield!" Brooklyn shouted while twirling her left hand. Smeargle suddenly dropped to the snow-covered ground and began to spin while releasing a Flamethrower into the air, capturing the attention of everyone.

"Hey, that's your technique!" Eddy shouted upon realization as he looked over at Owen, who was grinning from ear to ear. "You're not mad?"

"Why would I be? Brooklyn's using it as a contest move, so I don't mind at all."

"Amaura, use Aurora Beam and wrap it around the fire!" Brooklyn commanded. Amaura quickly shot a beam of ice towards the fire, but she moved her head around in a circle, allowing it to wrap around the flames, which were whipping through the air. Suddenly, an aurora appeared in the air while the fire continued to whip around like it had its own mind, creating a masterful piece of art.

"Smeargle, stop spinning and wrap this up with a light snow flurry!" Smeargle quickly hopped onto her feet and stopped releasing the Flamethrower, and then she threw her arms in the air. A large, dark cloud appeared and began to lightly release snow flakes while the aurora continued to dance through the air, making everyone gasp at its beauty. Brooklyn then snapped her fingers, and she curtsied along with her Pokemon, resulting in an eruption of cheers.

"That was quite the performance. The combination of fire and ice is one of true beauty!" the judge in red complimented while bowing in respect of Brooklyn's performance.

"Remarkable!"

"Using Smeargle's Sketch to copy Avalanche was a brilliant idea. And to have her finish the set with that was fitting," Nurse Joy state, making Brooklyn and her Pokemon beam as they turned away to walk off the stage.

"Wow, that was incredible!" Eddy remarked as Brooklyn, Smeargle, and Amaura disappeared into the tunnel. "I didn't know Brooklyn was that good!"

"Yeah, she made it to the Grand Festival finals in Unova last year," Owen responded. Charizard roared to backup his trainer's statement, and Daniel looked down at the stage in shock.

"Olivia Donaldson, please report to the stage!" the host announced. The crowd waited in angst until Olivia strolled out of the tunnel and waved, stopping when she reached the center of the stage.

"Goodra, Mawile, action!" Olivia shouted while throwing two Pokeballs in the air. When they opened, a fat, purple dragon covered in slime appeared next to a Mawile, and Owen quickly scanned the dragon with his Pokedex.

"Goodra, the Dragon Pokemon. It attacks with retractable horns. It throws a punch that's the equivalent of the force of a hundred pro boxers."

"That sounds like a really strong Pokemon," Cindy commented as the dragon type waved to the crowd.

"You can say that again. Goodra are the strongest non-legendary Kalosian Pokemon," Eddy informed his traveling mates, who all gaped at the statement.

"Goodra, use Aqua Tail against the ground! Mawile, use Fairy Wind to blow the water in a circular motion!" Goodra's tail was suddenly encapsulated in water before he slammed it against the ground, and Mawile pushed her arms out, releasing a blast of pink wind. Somehow, Mawile managed to release the wind in a circular track, and she raised it in the air, turning the water into a ring.

"Now, Goodra, use Rain Dance in the middle of the ring!" Olivia shouted while twirling around. Goodra trudged over to the middle of the ring -where Mawile was standing- and he fired a large ball of grey energy into the air. The ball exploded and a steady stream of rain poured down through the large hole of the water ring. "Use Sweet Scent, Mawile!" The strange second mouth hanging off Mawile's head opened and sprayed a blue gas into the air that smelt like flowers, and it somehow prevented the rain from falling down on Mawile and Goodra.

"Let's finish this, Goodra! Jump up in-between the gas and ring, and then use Outrage!" Olivia demanded. Goodra hopped straight up and was enveloped in a dark purple energy as he approached the swirling storm of water, and he released a sudden explosion of orange energy. The crowd stared as the orange energy rose out of the water, and the water evaporated, making it look like the sun coming out after a rainstorm.

"That's impressive," Daniel muttered as a rainbow arched from one end of the stage to the other, and the crowd clapped as Olivia and her Pokemon waved back thankfully.

"The creativity behind making the 'sun' come out after a 'storm' is incredible! Excellent performance."

"Remarkable!"

"Having Mawile use non attacking moves to compliment the power of your Goodra was very smart. That performance was delightful."

Olivia thanked the judges and walked off the stage while the crowd chanted her name, leaving Owen and the others looking at each other worriedly. Was Brooklyn's performance good enough to get her to the next round?

000

"You two were great out there," Brooklyn said to Smeargle and Amaura while she was waiting for the results to be announced. Both Pokemon smiled and looked over at Braixen and Gogoat, who were going over their strategy for their performance, even though it was an uncertainty.

"We have now come to a decision on who will advance to the battle rounds," Nurse Joy said into the camera, quieting the fifteen coordinators and their Pokemon. "The first coordinator will be Brooklyn Moore, who will face Olivia Donaldson! Both coordinators must now report to the stage."

"Did you hear that? We made it to the finals!" Brooklyn shouted while hugging Smeargle and Amaura. Braixen and Gogoat simply grinned at the TV screen, which had Brooklyn and Olivia's pictures, and they looked back at their trainer before being zapped into their Pokeballs. "We're going to win," Brooklyn said to the two Pokeballs as she began walking towards the tunnel closest to her. As she continued, she reached the stage at the same time as Olivia, who she glared at.

"For this battle, both coordinators will have a set amount of points that will be reduced by their opponent with either a counter or stunning display! There will also be four minutes on the clock, so if both coordinators still have points after time has expired, the coordinator with more points wins! This will be a double battle performance, trainers, choose your Pokemon!"

"Sylveon and Gardevoir, action!"

"Braixen and Gogoat, take the stage!" The four Pokemon appeared in front of Olivia and Brooklyn respectively, and they glared at each other. Both Braixen and Gogoat weren't fond of Olivia, Braixen in particular. The bipedal fox moved from Gogoat's right to his left in order to square off with Sylveon, who she had lost to at the Gogoat Ranch, and Gogoat began to swipe his feet while taking a deep breath.

"This is going to be intense," Cindy whispered to the others because the entire arena was silent. Charizard nodded at the statement and broke the silence by roaring and pointing at Brooklyn, who giggled when the entire crowd cheered along with Charizard.

"Begin!"

"Sylveon, use Swift to separate Braixen and Gogoat! Gardevoir, use Magical Leaf and make it spin around them!" Olivia commanded while pointing in-between Braixen and Gogoat. Sylveon opened her mouth and unleashed a wave of golden stars that split and flew towards both Braixen and Gogoat while Gardevoir threw her arms forward ad sent colored leaves.

"Burn the leaves with Ember, Braixen! Gogoat, use Vine Whip to slap the Swift away and then charge at Gardevoir!" Braixen reared her head back and fired several orange bullets towards the Magical Leaf attack, burning the leaves on the spot and lowering Olivia's points by an eighth. Gogoat quickly stepped in front of Braixen after the Magical Leaf was stopped, and two vines shot out of his neck. He then began to charge forwards while smacking the Swift away with his vines, lowering Olivia's points by another eighth.

"Gardevoir, use Gigia Impact on Gogoat! Sylveon, back her up with Iron Tail!" Brooklyn and Braixen watched as Gardevoir was covered in purple energy with orange streaks spiraling around her, and Sylveon charged towards Gogoat while her tail was glowing silver. Gogoat slammed his head into Gardevoir and the Giga Impact and began battling back and forth with the wicked move, but he was crushed by Sylveon's Iron Tail, which allowed Gardevoir's Giga Impact to prevail. Brooklyn turned and watched as she lost a third of her points, giving Olivia the lead.

"Gogoat, are you okay?" Brooklyn asked as the grass type rolled across the battlefield before stopping on his side. Gogoat slowly got back up and nodded at Brooklyn, but he grimaced in pain. "Okay. Braixen, I want you to take charge."

"Brai," the fire type replied before stepping in front of Gogoat.

"Use Flame Charge on Gardevoir!" Braixen stomped on the ground repeatedly as a cloud of dust surrounded her and Gogoat, and she sped out of the dust while covered in fire, catching Olivia and her Pokemon by surprise. Braixen then slammed into Gardevoir and sent her flying into the wall behind Olivia. Braixen then ran back to Gogoat and stood in front of the injured grass type. while Olivia lost a quarter of her points, giving Brooklyn the lead.

"Gardevoir and Sylveon, use a combined Moonblast!" Olivia ordered while pointing at Braixen, who pulled the stick out of her bushy tail and began waving it in the air like she was casting a spell. Both fairy types fired blasts of pink energy towards Braixen, shot threw her arms out to her sides and took the attack head-on, refusing to let either of her opponents hurt Gogoat.

"Now use Headbutt on Gardevoir, Gogoat!" Brooklyn commanded while punching her fist straight forward. Gogoat shot off the ground and charged towards Gardevoir with the intent to knock the fully evolved Pokemon out.

"Counter with Giga Impact!" Gardevoir wrapped herself in purple energy before speeding towards Gogoat, and the two Pokemon collided in the middle of the stage, causing a wave of energy to fly in every direction while sending both Pokemon flying back towards their trainers. Once they hit the ground, Gogoat and Gardevoir were unconscious, leaving Braixen and Sylveon on their own.

"Braixen, use Flame Charge again!"

"Sylveon, use Swift to keep Braixen from getting in close!" Olivia countered. Braixen slammed her feet on the ground once again and was engulfed in fire before she sprinted across the stage at light speed. Sylveon, however, opened her mouth and fired a wave of stars towards Braixen. Somehow, the fire type managed to run around the attack and she checked Sylveon, but she was hit by the Swift right after.

"Let's finish this! Use Flame Charge!"

"Counter with Iron Tail!" Both Pokemon charged towards each other while preparing their attacks, and everyone in the crowd rose from their chairs. Sylveon leaped in the air while her tail was glowing silver and she began to spin like a wheel while Braixen jumped up after her, covered in bright orange flames. The two attacks collided and caused a massive explosion. BOOM! Both Pokemon were hurled across the stage while a cloud of smoke appeared. After it dissipated, both Pokemon were revealed to be standing, staring at one another angrily.

"That's incredible. Both of them are standing after an insane collision," Daniel said aloud while the coordinators simply waited for one of the Pokemon to faint. Suddenly, Sylveon fell to the ground and the host threw her arms in the air.

"Sylveon is unable to battle! That means Brooklyn is the winner of the Lumiose City Contest!"

Braixen turned and ran towards Brooklyn before they hugged. Both of their names were being chanted throughout the arena, and their pictures, along with Gogoat's, appeared on a large screen with the word 'WINNER' underneath. Brooklyn then walked over to the judges and graciously took her first ribbon of Kalos and stuck it in the air, making the crowd explode. As she did that, Olivia walked off the stage, prompting Brooklyn to do the same.

"We're ready, Lord Frank," Viviana informed her superior as he continued reading over his speech. The man rose from his chair and nodded before following the young woman out of his lounge and walked up the stairs before arriving in a room, which had a camera in it. He sat down at the desk where the camera was pointing, and he waited for the people working the camera to give him a signal.

"You're on in 5, 4, 3, 2..." the person directly behind the camera pointed, and a red light flashed on the device.

"Hello, citizens of Kalos. You might be wondering how we managed to take over every channel on TV and every radio station, but that is not important. We are in organization known as Team Grim, and we will be the voice you've always desired. For centuries this beautiful region has been run by monarch after monarch, but we put an end to that," Frank said while looking straight into the camera with an intimidating glare.

The men behind the camera gave him two thumbs up each and motioned for him to continue doing what he was doing, which seemed to be effective.

"Three days ago, King George was defeated by us, Team Grim, and is no longer in a position of power. The entire Royal Family has been erased, and we did it for you." Frank paused and gave the camera a look of endearment. "Even though we have stopped that issue, new threats are rising in the Kalos region, and one is in Lumiose City as I speak."

Viviana and Spike walked into the room with their Gyarados and Machamp respectively, and Frank's Dragonite, who smiled at his master's deception. Both admins were wearing the black bracelets Viviana had given to Frank, and their Pokemon were wearing the same sleeves Dragonite was wearing.

"In order to cleanse Kalos, we ask of you to help support us in stopping these threats, much like we did with King George and the Royal Family. We, Team Grim, will be arriving in Lumiose City within the next few minutes and would appreciate any support. Please, meet in front of Prism Tower if you'd like to help, or even join us in our cause, which is to spread peace across Kalos by eliminating threats that arise."

The thirty two year old paused briefly and took a breath before continuing his speech.

"There are two trainers in Kalos right now who are conspiring against Team Grim, and their names are Owen Plateau and Ariel Field. A Charizard is accompanying Owen while a Blaziken is with Ariel, and they are incredibly dangerous."

Frank paused as the two men operating the camera showed a picture of Owen and Ariel with their starters, and Frank continued as soon as the pictures were removed.

"Owen Plateau is in Lumiose City right now, so block the gates if you can. Ariel's location is unknown, at the moment, but we will find her sooner or later. She also has the ability to use Mega Evolution, so be weary of trying to stop her. Team Grim as a whole appreciates any support given, and we... no, I, look forward to becoming the voice of all Kalosian people."

000

Silence fell over the room as everyone turned to look at Owen, who was staring at the TV, which had cut back to its normal program. The teen looked around the room slowly and tried to speak, but couldn't. The words bottled up in his throat but refused to leave. He then stood up and walked over to where his Pokebelt, PokeGear, and Pokedex were, and he picked them up.

"What the hell was that about!?" Brooklyn screamed at the fifteen year old, who remained speechless. Owen looked over at Charizard and zapped the winged lizard into his Pokeball before he tried to walk out, but he was stopped by Brooklyn. "Well? Are you going to answer me?"

"I... don't know," Owen answered in disbelief. "I battled that guy twice..." Owen's voice trailed off as he looked out the window to see a few people -maybe five or six- gathering around Prism Tower. "But I need to get out of here."

"Hold on," Daniel started as he got up from his bed. "You're not going anywhere without us."

"That's right!" Cindy and Eddy exclaimed in unison, making Owen smile.

"And don't think I'm just going to leave you," Brooklyn added as she threw her Pokebelt on and gathered her things just like everyone else. "If that anyone starts something with one of us, they'll have to deal with all of us."

000

"So it's begun," Blaziken said with a sigh as he sat on top of Professor Sycamore's lab. He was alone. He and Ariel left the store they were in as soon as Frank showed the teen's picture along with Owen's. "I didn't think this day would come, at least not this soon." The fire chicken sighed once again and looked up at the moon, which was soon blocked by a large carrier ship that stopped itself at Prism Tower. A large skull with crossbones was plastered on its sides, making Blaziken growl.

"I hid all the others, Blaziken. We're going to have to do this thing by ourselves," Ariel informed her starter as she climbed onto the roof of the Kalos professor's lab.

"That's not true," Blaziken shot back as Ariel sat down next to him. The girl looked over at the Pokemon and her eyes opened wide once she realized what he was referring to. "We could join forces with Owen and his friends."

"No way. I may be desperate, but I'm not teaming up with them!" Ariel shouted, quieting down immediately when she realized people could possibly look at her. "I'm not doing that."

"That's fine, but I don't think you want to die at such a young age, or at all," Blaziken said to his trainer, who crossed her arms angrily. "The only way we're taking down Frank and Team Grim is if we join forces with them."

Ariel let out a sigh of annoyance and looked over at the carrier ship that had landed in front of Prism Tower and was now dispensing Grim grunts. She then looked over at Blaziken, who paid her no attention.

"Fine. Let's find Owen."

Dun dun dun! That's the end of that, and now #!$ is getting real, people! Team Grim is finally starting their plan at taking over Kalos, and Owen and Ariel are now enemies of Kalos, though that's not being met with much approval. Don't worry, it will soon, but not for now. Anyways, Ariel and Blaziken are now looking for Owen and the others so they can team up. Also, I doubt I'll be able to finish next chapter by tonight, but there's always a chance that I will. Don't bank on it, though. Till next time, peace out.

1) Do you think Ariel and Blaziken will get along with the group?

Next Chapter: "Clearing the Path": After being deemed an enemy of Kalos, Owen attempts to escape Lumiose City. Frank, however, intervenes along with his admins, and a massive battle ensues. Will Owen, Brooklyn, Daniel, and Ariel be able to defeat Grim Reversion Stage 2?
