Theme Song

From light to dark, it seems you've lost (Frank smirking in his office while looking down at Lumiose City)
Can you repair hope, or is this the cost? (The group stares off into the sunset, minus Ariel and Catherine)
Show them your strength, and don't you wait (Greninja throws a Water Shuriken while hopping off a tree, and Charizard collides with Dragonite)
The prize goes to the one who doesn't hesitate (Camera zooms in on Ariel, transitions to Catherine looking at Owen and Ariel's baby pictures)
Some may fall, (The people of Lumiose stare in horror while a body falls off the top of Prism Tower)
But that's what must happen to save them all (Children are running around the various cities playing with Pokemon)
Which power will rise? Is this the demise? (Split screen of Owen and Frank glaring at each other)
It's too late to go back, you must go on (Brooklyn and Daniel battling against Spike and Viviana)
Keep your head up and remain strong! (Freeze-frame of Owen standing with his Pokemon, which includes Gengar and Chesnaught)
It's all or nothing, let your life go... Pokemon!

Happy Valentines Day! To all of you single people, welcome to my world of loneliness... just kidding(?) If there are any single ladies reading this, if you're desperate enough I'll be here for you :I Time to get serious. Last chapter, Owen had to battle a Dusknoir in some snowy conditions, and Haunter evolved and kicked Dusknoir's ass when he tried killing Owen. Now, Team Grim will have already carried out the final step in their plans, but I will be detailing the aftermath and how they plan on dealing with the crew (Owen and co.). As for why this wasn't up as quickly as it could've been, I realized (2,156 words into it) that I was writing the wrong chapter! That means I'll probably post another chapter after this pretty quickly, considering it's almost done :/ Let's get going!

Defender31415: That will be explained next chapter, and there will be a few factors involved in Haunter evolving (besides my disdain for having to trade a Pokemon for it to evolve, even though it's a great marketing ploy)

guest: Those are actually the reasons Haunter evolved, lol. And I always hated link trading because it (in my opinion) was introduced to make people buy both games and a link cable

SomeGuy (guest): Haha, for some reason I was thinking Dusknoir was Dusclops for a second. And thank you! I loved that part in Mystery Dungeon where Dusknoir used his stomach to try and kill people, so I figured it'd be useful in pushing Haunter's evolution

MCMXCV: Yeah, even when I was writing last chapter, I was kind of rooting for Gengar, even though I knew she was going to win :3 And this chapter will basically spell the demise of Kalos, so... yeah

ShadowDragon9000: Haha, I really hate Pokemon logic sometimes. And I was really tempted to have Owen catch Dusknoir (just for the sake of having a Pokemon that despised him and actually wanted to kill him), but he already has a ghost type. Thanks for the review!

The 6th Spectral King: I actually planned on having Haunter evolve last chapter instead of Quilladin from the beginning of the arc. "A Colossal Evolution" is kind of a big hint (no pun intended) in regards to Quilladin's evolution, because Chesnaught is a pretty bulky Pokemon

SinnohBlaze (guest): For some reason I was thinking of a baseball player's last name when I was coming up with the title name (Ryan Braun), so that's the reason for the typo. And Brooklyn could die, though I'm deciding between some other characters at the moment. And Owen's dad is an OC, so it's not really possible to guess who he is, and thank you!

Two Days Earlier...

"What should we do with these guys?" a random grunt asked Spike, who was walking down a long hallway in a gigantic building. The man ran his finger across his neck like a cutting motion and continued to walk down the hallway before turning to his left and walking into a smaller room with four doors in each corner. In the middle of the room was a large, circular table where Frank, Viviana, and a few other high-ranking members of Team Grim were sitting.

"Spike, please sit down," Frank said while pointing at the empty seat to his right. The younger man nodded and obediently sat down next to Frank, who kicked his feet onto the table and leaned back in his chair. "We were just talking about what we should do with the Elite 4 members over there," Frank informed Spike, who looked to his right and saw four people tied up individually.

"Wow, you didn't even need my help to defeat them?"

"Come on, Spike. Who do you think we are? Team Flare?" Viviana mocked, making everyone at the table laugh while a pink haired woman, who was tied up, starting cursing, though her words came out muffled due to her mouth being taped up.

"Haha, that's a good point. But where's the Diantha?" Frank snickered and lifted his right arm up and motioned with his fingers for someone to bring him something. The doors Spike had walked through opened and Diantha was brought in, unconscious and tied up with bruises and lacerations all over her body. "Damn."

"So, everyone, we need to think of what exactly we should do with these threats. Those against us still have hope that their precious Elite 4 can still defeat us, so I'd like to hear what you all think we should do." Frank turned to his left and looked at Viviana, who picked up where her leader left off.

"I think we could just lock them away somewhere and make the people slowly lose hope when they realize the Elite 4 won't save them," the young woman opined, a wicked smile creeping across her face as Frank nodded, impressed with the idea.

"I like it, but let's see what everyone else has to say. What about you?" Frank asked the man sitting next to Viviana, who began to tremble while speaking.

"We could just kill them right here. That way we don't have to worry about them possibly leading a revolt." Frank nodded and rubbed his chin, thinking the idea over before turning to the man sitting across from him, who began speaking immediately.

"I agree with Viviana. I think slowly breaking the will of any detractor would be great to watch and it'd be beneficial for our organization as a whole."

"Okay. Spike, what about you? I'd like to hear something a little different than these two ideas, not that I don't like them, I'd just like to have as many options as possible," the leader stated politically, not hurting anyone's feelings.

"Uhm..." Spike started, trying to think of something quickly. He slowly turned to the five powerful trainers and then looked back at Frank, who was fooling around with his gun, spinning it on the table and then picking it up and aiming his sights at the walls. "Public execution."

"Wh-what?" Frank stammered as he was caught by surprise, for what seemed to be the first time ever. "That would be incredibly risky for our public perception," the man in his mid thirties continued, rising from his seat while looking down at Spike.

"Think about it this way. If we do that and crush everyone's hope right in front of their eyes, and do it violently, they'll be terrified of going against us, and there won't be any threats that can spring up, because we'll have killed the most powerful trainers in the region," Spike said, trying to sway Frank on his pitch.

"That's... that's..." Frank turned his back to the four admins at the table and all the grunts blocking the doors. "Genius! You two, go call in the plane. Viviana, Spike, I want you two to help me flesh this out. As for the rest of you, make sure these five traitors are put on that plane!" Frank barked as he began to walk out of the Elite 4 room with Spike and Viviana following him.

Now...

"Lumiose City, it's great to see you again!" Frank shouted into a microphone. He was standing at the top of Prism Tower, on the platform that Owen and Cindy had jumped off of. Every large TV on the tops of buildings and in store windows was displaying Frank and his voice echoed through the city. An enormous crowd of people had formed around the base of Prism Tower, and they roared back to the criminal, who waved into the camera that one of his grunts was holding. "As most of you know, a few of my colleagues and I left to go deal with a new threat that had sprung up, and we're glad to tell you we have put a brief stop on them!"

Viviana and Spike smirked as they stood by their leader, who continued to deceive the population of Kalos, who had begun to support him, and he took a breath before holding the mic back up to his face.

"We actually managed to capture these traitors, and they are being brought up here as we speak, so let's make some noise!" The crowd, which was about three quarters of the Lumiose City population roared in support as Frank turned and waited for the five threats to be brought up. When they were, there were sacks over the heads of each of the people, and they were forced to sit on their knees in a line. Slowly, Frank revealed the identity of the first person, and the crowd gasped collectively. A woman with pink hair and red sunglasses with pale skin began shouting at Frank and the camera caught the event and streamed it across the region.

The man continued to unmask each of the apparent evildoers except for the last one in the line, and he walked back to the woman with pink hair.

"The Elite 4 of the Kalos region was conspiring a revolt and an attempted takeover of our great region, but we, Team Grim, would and will not let that happen! The punishment for such a crime is death!" Frank boomed, and the crowd began to roar forcefully, because no one wanted to be accused of not supporting Team Grim. Smirking, Frank looked straight into the camera and continued speaking.

"It is my job, as the voice of the people, to exterminate any threats, and I will do this for all of you to watch." The man handed the microphone to Viviana and stepped behind the woman with pink hair, and he took a deep breath, acting as if it were difficult for him to pull the trigger. Suddenly, a loud crack echoed through the air, and the woman fell face first against the platform lifelessly.

"Malva was a member of the sinister organization Team Flare, and was one of the admins, and we will not tolerate that!" Viviana explained loudly. The people remained silent, and stared at every TV screen in the city, watching the massacre. As they stared at the screen, the cameraman locked onto Frank, who was now standing behind a man in armor, who remained silent with his eyes closed.

Again, a loud crack snapped in everyone's ears, and the man fell lifelessly just like Malva.

"Wikstrom was the leading conspirer and was going to be the general of the revolt against us!" Frank moved down to another man, who had wavy blonde hair and had a pretentious look on his face, and he didn't wait a second as he shot him in the head. The camera lens was splattered with the blood of the blonde, and Viviana didn't even bother continuing her explanations.

The camera slowly followed Frank as he loaded his gun once again and pointed the gun at the old woman's head. Again, he fired without hesitation and walked over to the final person, who had yet to be unmasked.

"The final threat is someone everyone in this region knows, and little kids look up to her for all of her talents. Diantha, the Champion of Kalos, was the one who organized the entire operation!" Viviana shouted as Frank pulled the burlap sack off her head. The crowd gasped in shock as the camera focused on Diantha's face. The woman stared straight at the ground, broken and beaten, while Spike and Viviana laughed maniacally.

("Orochimaru's theme" begins to play)

Frank, meanwhile, scowled at the young woman and began cursing under his breath. Slowly, he raised the gun and put it against Diantha's head, making the woman gasp slightly as tears began to roll down her face. He waited several seconds, unlike the previous executions, and he began to clamp his teeth together in rage.

"This is what you get for taking my place!" Frank fired several bullets into the woman's head, even when she hit the ground, and he continued to shoot. The camera caught the entire thing and everyone in the city, whether it be on the streets or in their houses, watched in horror until the man ran out of bullets. When he stopped, Frank looked up into the camera and took a deep breath.

Viviana quickly passed the mic to the man, and he aggressively spoke.

"For anyone thinking of attempting to stop Team Grim in their efforts to give the people a voice, this is what will happen to you! I am doing this for the greater good of the people, and will stop at nothing to achieve complete peace, even if it means killing my own family. Did you hear that Catherine? I'm coming after you, too!"

Wow wow wow, what the hell does that mean? It's pretty obvious, so I don't think I have to say anything about it. Anyways, it looks like Team Grim has complete control of the region now, and news will hit the group in a few chapters. Till next time, peace out.

1) Is Frank a badass or what?

2) What the hell did he mean by "This is what you get for taking my place!"
