Theme Song
From light to dark, it seems you've lost (Frank smirking in his office while looking down at Lumiose City)
Can you repair hope, or is this the cost? (The group stares off into the sunset, minus Ariel and Catherine)
Show them your strength, and don't you wait (Greninja throws a Water Shuriken while hopping off a tree, and Charizard collides with Dragonite)
The prize goes to the one who doesn't hesitate (Camera zooms in on Ariel, transitions to Catherine looking at Owen and Ariel's baby pictures)
Some may fall, (The people of Lumiose stare in horror while a body falls off the top of Prism Tower)
But that's what must happen to save them all (Children are running around the various cities playing with Pokemon)
Which power will rise? Is this the demise? (Split screen of Owen and Frank glaring at each other)
It's too late to go back, you must go on (Brooklyn and Daniel battling against Spike and Viviana)
Keep your head up and remain strong! (Freeze-frame of Owen standing with his Pokemon, which includes Gengar and Chesnaught)
It's all or nothing, let your life go... Pokemon!
Well, I didn't expect the battle between the group and Team Grim to come so quickly, but it's almost upon us! Before we get to that, you'll just have to put up with the preparation for the battle, so expect the rest of this arc to be very short in terms of the amount of words (including this chapter). This chapter, everyone will start preparing for their counterattack while Owen and Catherine will train in attempt to combat Grim Reversion. Also, I completely forgot to mention this last chapter, so let me take some time to say it this chapter. THANK YOU for the incredible support I've had while writing this story! Kalos Adventure is now my most reviewed story (as of last chapter), and we're on pace for over 500 reviews (approximately 85 chapters or so)! Again, THANK YOU ALL!
midnightrebellion86: Thanks!
Defender31415: Yeah, he's an ass, but that's what I wanted him to be so I'm happy about the review (is that messed up? haha)
Breana (guest): When I started reading your review I thought you were hating on the story, but thankfully you didn't :) And thank you!
ShadowDragon9000: Haha, it it cliche but that's about the best thing I could come up with. At least the Grim Arc's coming up soon
SomeGuy (guest): Lol, I think teen is the best way to describe it, given the fact that I am a teen. Seriously though, I think it'd be kind of weird for me to write a whole scene about the no pants dance (or sex, for those of you who prefer to call it as is), but that's just me. As for the lack of details with Catherine's story, that was intentional because I want to dedicate an entire chapter (or at least a large portion of one) to Frank's side of the story, which will give the real reason for going nuts
guest: Interesting and somewhat unreliable, but it will be accurate and surprising, for the most part
MCMXCV: It really is, but I think his side of the story will make you feel a lot less bad about his turning evil

The sun had just crept over the trees in the forest, but everyone was already up and active. After Catherine's story and decision to combat Team Grim, all seven trainers were ready to combat Team Grim. However, they had to plan accordingly, which was going to take some time. Ariel had been tasked with designing the plan to enter Lumiose City and Owen's traveling companions were helping her with it while Owen and Catherine had moved to a different area in order to train.
"I don't get why Ariel's not the key to this whole thing. She actually won a league! I haven't!" Owen cried as he prepared to release his Pokemon from their Pokeballs. Catherine sighed, disappointed that her son was lacking confidence in his abilities.
"Relax. Besides, Ariel wining a league doesn't mean anything in terms of skill. The best trainer doesn't always win, it's the one who shares the closest bonds with their Pokemon," Catherine recited as if it was a poem she wrote. Owen nodded at the beautiful words and released his Pokemon, who looked around before staring at Catherine. "Come on out, everyone!" Owen and his Pokemon watched as the six fire types appeared in front of Catherine, and they all greeted Owen's Pokemon.
"So what technique are you gonna teach us?" Owen asked while Chesnaught began swinging his arms powerfully, trying to get used to his new body. While doing so, Chesnaught accidentally clubbed Greninja in the back of the head, and the water type turned around angrily cursing at the grass type.
"Well, it's exclusive to Charizard, so the rest of your Pokemon can go train with mine if they want," Catherine replied nonchalantly. With that, Catherine's Camerupt, Darmanitan, Pyroar, and Magcargo left with the rest of Owen's Pokemon.
"How long do you think this is going to take?" Charizard questioned. Owen shrugged, though Catherine answered the fire type's question.
"It could take a really long time, depending on how long it takes for you two to get the first few steps. First, I want you to have Charizard Mega Evolve. It doesn't matter which form he takes," Catherine instructed. Owen and Charizard nodded, and the teen slapped one of the stones on his bracelet.
"Charizard, Mega Evolve X!" The winged lizard's physique changed as his skin turned black while he hunched over, and two blue flames began streaming out of his mouth. Amber and Flint nodded at the power radiating from the fire and dragon type, but Catherine didn't look as impressed, though she was grinning.
"Okay, now switch to Y."
"You heard her, Charizard. Mega Evolve Y!" Owen shouted, slapping the other stone in his bracelet. The forearm band Charizard was wearing began to glow and his appearance changed again. The fire type's skin turned back to being orange while small wings grew out of his arms while a third spike appeared on the top of his head. This time, Catherine nodded confidently, confusing both Owen and Charizard.
"That's Charizard's stronger form, make sure to use that more often than X. Now, I want you two to close your eyes," Owen's mother stated. Owen and Charizard did as they were told, and they closed their eyes while Catherine walked towards them. "Listen very carefully to these next steps, because this determines whether you'll succeed or fail. Let your thoughts sync, and when they do, open your eyes and both of you have to touch the two Mega Stones on your arms."
Owen and Charizard both took deep breaths while trying to combine their thoughts, and they stood in silence for what seemed to be hours. Catherine, Flint, and Amber continued to wait for the younger trainer and Pokemon, so they all sat down on the grass.
"Charizard, can you here me?" Owen thought, waiting for the lizard to respond. He didn't however, and Owen cursed in his mind. "This is stupid. It doesn't even make any sense. How can Charizard and I even communicate this way?"
"I don't know, but this is dumb," a voice agreed, scaring Owen into almost opening his eyes. "Wait, Owen? Hey!" Charizard said to Owen excitedly. "So uh... are we supposed to open our eyes yet?"
"I guess. But make sure you touch the Mega Stones at the same time as me."
"Right."
With that, both trainer and Pokemon opened their eyes and slammed their hands on top of the Mega Stones on their wrists, but nothing happened. Owen and Charizard looked around confusion while Catherine stood up with her Pokemon and began clapping.
"Wait, was this some kind of jo-" Owen was cutoff by Charizard being engulfed in a spiraling light that was blue and red, and he began to roar. Suddenly, Charizard's skin began to turn black while other parts remained orange. The black portions of his body - the top of his head, arms, and the insides of his wings - were complimented by crimson fire being emitted from the three spikes on his head. His wings also took on the shape they were when he was in his X form, and there were also red flames shooting out of his mouth.
"That right there is something I like to call Mega Fusion. Charizard now has the combined strength of both his Mega Evolutions, and it doesn't take any energy to use, so he can stay like that as long as he wants," Catherine said proudly. Charizard looked at himself in a nearby pond and nearly fainted when he saw himself. Owen stared at his first Pokemon and couldn't help but beam.
"This is awesome!" Charizard exclaimed before taking off into the air at the speed of light. Owen continued to watch as Charizard tested out his new power. When he landed, Charizard roared, stopping when Catherine and her Pokemon looked like they were about to say something.
"That should be more than enough to counter Grim Reversion, but you can only use it once a battle, but not in succession, so make sure to use it carefully." Catherine looked at Owen while he nodded and started petting Charizard's head, and she smiled. "Let's go check on the others and see what they've come up with."
"Right!" Owen and Charizard replied in unison before Charizard flew back to the campsite. After a minute of walking, Owen and Catherine arrived at the campsite where Charizard was basking in the attention he was receiving, mocking Blaziken for not being able to use Mega Fusion.
"I don't care, that's not even that cool," Blaziken argued while Charizard continued to mock him.
"It's better than your dumb Mega Evolution and you know it!"
"So what do you guys have?" Catherine inquired while looking at the five trainers, who were sitting in a circle with a large piece of poster board laying on the ground. Ariel quickly shot up and passed the board to Catherine, who looked over the plan with Owen by her side. "I like it, but are you sure they're going to be okay going to Lumiose City by themselves?" the mother asked while looking over at Cindy and Eddy.
"We'll be fine," Eddy answered.
"Yeah, no one's going to know who we are, unlike the rest of you," Cindy added convincingly.
"Fair point. And you're going tomorrow?"
"That's right," Daniel responded confidently while putting his arms around the two younger kids. "I'll make sure they're fine, because I'm going in with them."
"I should come too, if you're worried about them getting in trouble," Owen volunteered. He was shut down, however, by Brooklyn and Ariel.
"You need to make sure you can keep using Mega Fusion consistently, first," Ariel argued.
"And you have to get some sleep. We don't want you being run down by the time we decide to attack." Owen nodded at the two girls and walked over to the nearest tree, leaning against it while watching everyone continue their work. Charizard walked over to his trainer with a grin while the six Kalosian Pokemon played together.
"Are you feeling alright? You don't look too good," Charizard asked in concern.
"I'm fine, thanks. Let's go practice Mega Fusion some more. I want to make sure we've got this down pat." Charizard nodded and followed Owen into the deeper part of the woods, but he looked back at the campsite with a smile. Something felt off, but Charizard couldn't tell what it was, so he decided to hurry to catch up to Owen.
Hmm... I wonder what Charizard is feeling strange about. Meh, whatever. So, Owen has now gained the ability to use Mega Fusion, which may or may not come in handy when the time comes to use it. And I know Owen learned the technique on his first try, but making a 3,000 word chapter about training just doesn't work. Believe me, I tried. There is only one chapter left in this arc (I decided to combine "Vanishing Act" and the next chapter, so that's why), and then it's the highly anticipated Grim Arc! Till next time, peace out.
Next Chapter: "Owen's Promise: A Vow of Love!": While waiting anxiously for the attack on Team Grim, Owen struggles to get any sleep, and a battle wages between his emotions. Will he be able to follow through with the plan?
