(vashes pov)
i walked through a hallway towards my bosses office. i had just got a message that he requested my presence. as a country i had to listen to him but it wasn't often the message changed. 'everyone's an enemy and don't spend too much money.' today though i was sure i was going to get reprimanded for my failure in the recent battle.
"sir."
he nodded to a chair and so i sat.
"As our national representative losing and almost being captured is unforgivable. you are well aware that if you are captured it is a huge blow to our national defense, leaving us open for real invasion. the fact that you still allowed this to happen is a great insult. To the point some generals wish to have you replaced."
he sighed, and i kept my face blank. replacing me was impossible but i knew what point he was making.
"despite all that im glad you are safe my friend."
"sir, you know i am unable to die as long as this country is still in existence, and even then i will not die unless mortally wounded."
"i am aware however there are worse things than death."
dont i know it i thought grimly, he has only been alive for 60 something years, i have been around since the formation of this country and i have been captured before. but no need to share that with him.
"yes sir"
sighing again he sat up straight, staring me in eyes.
"i wish to leave it at this but unfortunately there is some more business to take care of."
a raising of my eyebrow was the only indicated i gave of my curiosity on why he suddenly seemed so formal, out of character for my usually friendly boss.
"for so many years this set up has existed so we forget but she is actually a country, right?"
i nodded coolly although inside i was preparing to have to hold my temper, i knew this wouldn't end well.
"as you know our country aims to be as neutral as possible, that includes you. so to allow another country to rely on you as much as you let her is, well to be blunt unacceptable.
my blood ran cold. 'please stop talking' is all i could think
"although you can not continue to ally yourself with this country, there is a way for this system to continue-"
"with all due respect sir, i will not ask her to assimilate herself."
he leaned his head on his hand and continued in a sad voice.
"listen, i know that it sounds bad but the fact that we forget shes a country in the first place just goes to show that it is not an active one, she would not lose anything if you were to assimilate her, and by extension her country. and we would benefit from the wealth she can provide as well. i have known her as long as i have known you, actually longer considering you wouldn't talk to me even when my father was in office and she did. but just like you i have to follow this country's wishes. she cannot continue to be your ally as long as she is a country. it goes against everything this country knows. our neutrality is what kept us from being attacked by the pictonians if you remember. we can't afford that barrier crashing down around us. im sorry, but this is a final order. assimilate lichtenstein or cut her off. we will try and manipulate the media so the people continue to forget her existence but i dont know how long this will work with technology now a days"
i nodded out of reflex and walked out. outside i seemed calm but inside my head was spinning. assimilate liechtenstein? ask the only one thing i cared the most for to give up her country, her identity and connection to her people? opening my door to my room i collapsed on my bed and absently began to clean one of the guns laying around. maybe it wouldn't be that bad, he said it himself her country is almost as poorly known as ame, er canadia. and with no military it would be beneficial to her. sighing i put down the now clean gun and picked up another on repeating the process. i knew it wasn't that simple, a personification was connected to their country and i can't think of a single one who would consider giving it up. i only hope she understood when i confronted her.

we laid around listening to monaco play her violin, the melody was so enchanting that belarus left my side and started doing an elegant ballet. belgium walked over and dragged hungary up and they started dancing together, soon everyone was in the spirit and moving about the room together. it was cute to see vietnam dancing with wy on her feet. i myself was swaying around the room with taiwan. it was fun but not being a good dancer i was soon tired and had to sit. so she went and started playing the piano. shortly after i stopped so did wy and she left for bed and vietnam followed behind to tuck her in.
"shes really motherly isn't she"
i looked up to see ukraine smiling next to me.
"yes she is."
we sat back and watched as the others danced happily.
"lili, may i say something?"
i nodded
"i have watched my little sister for years as she followed ivan. no matter how many times she proposed to him, he would always reject. and after a while she just came to expect it but i often forget how she looked when this first started asking. she looked much like you did and would come to me for hugs although she never asked. so i was going to ask if you wanted one now?"
tears came to my eyes and i threw myself into her arms, i didn't care if others saw me cry the warmth of her arms and care in her voice and smile enveloped me. i felt a hand stroking my hair and i glanced up to see vietnam awkwardly patting my head, worry in her eyes.
"i, im ok" i said softly.
suddenly seychelles glomped me knocking me back into ukraine.
"seya-chan?"
"sorry lili, but i dont know how else to make you feel better."
"thanks" i said hugging her back and before i knew it, i was in a group hug with all of us holding on to each other for support. even wy who had came out to find out what all the noise was. i couldn't help but smile, this is why we had this sleep over to lend and get support to our sisters. they made me feel good for the first time in over a week and i couldn't be luckier.

i awoke only to find myself squished between taiwan and ukraine. at first i was confused then i remembered that we had all went to sleep together. i sat up and looked around the room at my friends all cuddled together, all except monaco. i looked around wondering if i just missed her but got my answer when she walked in holding a cup of coffee.
"i see you are awake"
i nodded smiling and she relaxed a bit.
"i also made tea and hot cocoa if you prefer that to coffee"
i stood up and brushed some wrinkles out of my dress
"ill get some coco."
she nodded and walked towards the kitchen and i gently picked my way through the crowd of sleeping females, being as quiet as i could but as expected the ever sharp belarus woke up.
"good morning natalia"
she grunted good morning and laid back down by ukraine. clearly not willing to admit to waking just yet.
when i walked into the kitchen i heard angry voices coming from the main room, curious i peaked out.
"no france, you may NOT come in, as i told you before this is a girls slumber party not an orgy for you and the rest of your little trio."
"we didn't- hey, when did you learn such a naughty word?!"
" how many times do you did you and your silly friends crash at my place drunk because your boss kicked you out of the house?"
and she took advantage of him trying to remember when they might have slipped that word into his little sisters head, shutting the door in his face. i bit my tongue to keep from laughing as she gave me a "what-do-you-do" look but when muffled shouts of "you bastards tarnished my sisters mind" floated through the door along with what sounded like a scuffle we both chuckled out loud.
"i actually pick up most of that language from hanging around my casinos but don't tell him that"
"i won't" i said still chuckling
"i hate it that this is event is so short" she said sighing.
"its always quiet around here without you guys or my fool of a brother."
"perhaps you should ask their boss to kick them out more often."
"perhaps, but they might catch on and start coming over here all the time."
" hah, want me to send austria over some time? he would like nothing more than to play the piano all day, especially around someone who can appreciate it."
we looked over at hungary who had just walked out of the kitchen.
"good morning Elizabeta"
"good morning"
she just plopped on to the couch almost spilling her coffee
"so todays the last day huh?"
i nodded sadly
"perhaps we should plan for a longer time period next time."
"yea we should, right lili?"
"sure"
"then its settled next time we aim for four days!"
i smiled, i was happy and i knew everything would turn out alright. brother will forgive me and we will go back to the way it was, everything was ok.
