Theme Song

From light to dark, it seems you've lost (Frank smirking in his office while looking down at Lumiose City)
Can you repair hope, or is this the cost? (The group stares off into the sunset, minus Ariel and Catherine)
Show them your strength, and don't you wait (Greninja throws a Water Shuriken while hopping off a tree, and Charizard collides with Dragonite)
The prize goes to the one who doesn't hesitate (Camera zooms in on Ariel, transitions to Catherine looking at Owen and Ariel's baby pictures)
Some may fall, (The people of Lumiose stare in horror while a body falls off the top of Prism Tower)
But that's what must happen to save them all (Children are running around the various cities playing with Pokemon)
Which power will rise? Is this the demise? (Split screen of Owen and Frank glaring at each other)
It's too late to go back, you must go on (Brooklyn and Daniel battling against Spike and Viviana)
Keep your head up and remain strong! (Freeze-frame of Owen standing with his Pokemon, which includes Gengar and Chesnaught)
It's all or nothing, let your life go... Pokemon!

Whew, now that we've got a break in the action (albeit, a brief one), it's time to relax and focus on Owen's decision of whether he'll get involved in the battles going on in Lumiose City. I think we all know what his decision is going to be, but let's get going! (This will be a very short chapter, so don't expect too much from this)

midnightrebellion86: That could be a possibility, though I think it'd be kind of screwed up if both his parents were the leaders of Team Grim

ShadowDragon9000: Sorry sorry sorry! That was a typo, no one else is joining in. And Frank's an asshole, but you could've guessed that on your own

SomeGuy (guest): Yeah, I got a bit too caught up in the battle, so I unintentionally didn't focus on any other dialogue. And I wasn't intending to go for a plot twist (believe me, I would've made the chapter titles a lot less obvious), I just wanted to build a sense of desperation. As for you wanting me to prove you wrong in regard to seeing something you haven't read before, I'm sorry to say I can't do that (I think). If I were to do something expected, something along the lines of Owen dying, it's not going to happen, because I wouldn't want the story ending right here. I think some of the events leading up to the end of the arc will be a bit unexpected (whether that's a good or bad thing), but that's about all I can say without spoiling anything. Also, I tried working in Frank's backstory without trying to make it like DBZ where basically every episode is a longwinded speech, but it's very very short and (kind of) sucks

MCMXCV: Thanks! I'll probably hold off on posting Ariel vs Frank so that I can have some chapters in my pocket because I'm going to take a day or two off. As for Owen's mental state, he'll be conflicted just like the last chapter he was in

guest: Haha, yeah it's looking pretty bad and it's only going to get worse. There is a possibility Brooklyn could die, but I guess you'll just have to find out ;)

Defender31415: Thank you! I think you'll really like Owen and Ariel's battles if you thought this one was good :) They should be up over the weekend (they're already finished, but I don't want to post every chapter I have done right away), so stay tuned!

Uncertainty. Confusion. Fear. Those were just some of the words that could've been used to do describe Owen's emotions as he returned to where the campsite had been, only to see nobody was there. He figured they would've gone, but a small part of him held onto a sliver of hope that said otherwise.

"You know you have to go to Lumiose City," Charizard said robotically, due to the translator not being able to capture emotions. Owen sighed and fell on his rear before putting his face in his hands. The teen was clearly distraught and Charizard knew that, but he couldn't afford to be soft on Owen, given the circumstances. "Owen, they need you, and you know it."

"Of course I do, but..." his voice trailed off as he tried to find the words that he could tailor into a clearcut image of how he was feeling. "...I don't think I can do it. There's no way I can let Frank live if I battle him, and what if I lose, Charizard? Huh? Have you ever thought about that!?" the Kantonian screamed at his starter, who stepped towards his trainer, not scared by the anger in his voice.

"Of course not, because we wouldn't lose. Think about it, what is Frank fighting for? Power. What are you fighting for? Everyone you love and the safety of the world. People don't lie when they say love is stronger than hate, it's not something only in fairytales." Greninja and the other Kalosian Pokemon walked towards Owen and Charizard, but they remained silent while listening to their distraught trainer.

"We both know you're lying about not thinking of losing," Owen muttered. Charizard glared at his trainer and released embers from his nostrils before turning away and walking over to the younger Pokemon, handing Greninja his translator.

"Owen," the water frog started before going silent at the strange sound of his voice. "I get why you're scared, but you won't be alone. You've got all of us!" the Kalosian starter. Owen looked over at the six Pokemon standing behind Greninja and they all smiled at him, nodding confidently. "There's no way Frank and his dumb Dragonite can beat us now. Remember, Charizard almost took him out seven months ago." The teen sighed, knowing Greninja was right, and the bipedal frog handed Charizard the translator.

"And don't you remember the promise you made to Brooklyn?" Charizard asked, catching Owen off guard.

"How does he know about that? Damn it, Brooklyn, why did you tell him?" Owen cursed after figuring his girlfriend told Charizard about their conversation the night before. Once again, the teen looked around at his Pokemon who were putting on fake smiles, clearly terrified of the evil hurricane known as Frank, so he decided to do something bold.

"You're right, Charizard, I'm not going to let him intimidate me. As for the rest of you, you're not getting involved in any of this, for your own safety. The only one that can handle Frank is Charizard, and that's not meant to be an insult, this guy is really strong and will kill you if he can. Just ask Greninja," Owen informed the Kalosian Pokemon, who turned to Greninja and gasped when they saw him nodding.

"There we go! Now let's go do this!" Charizard exclaimed, making the other Pokemon cheer excitedly.

"Thanks for the support, everyone. Return!" Owen said as he withdrew his six Kalosian Pokemon before hopping onto Charizard's back. The winged lizard quickly took to the air and began flying as fast as he could. Even though it was nearly a hundred miles away, Owen could see Lumiose City in the distance, specifically Prism Tower. What caught his attention was a large blast of fire followed by an explosion, and Charizard began to pick up the pace.

"Hang in there, everyone. I'm coming."

Like I said, it was a short chapter, but that's probably the best thing I could've done for this, because (in my opinion) making it any longer would've saturated the whole thing. Now that Owen's getting involved and is on his way to Prism Tower, shit's about to go down really soon. Till next time, peace out.

Next Chapter: "Ariel vs Frank: When Tempers Collide": Ariel and Blaziken begin their battle with Frank and Dragonite while Owen and Charizard continue their trek to Lumiose City. The battle quickly turns violent, however, due to the battling styles of Ariel and Frank. Will Owen be able to arrive in time to get his duel with Frank?
