It's time for the chapter all (or most of) you have been waiting for. Owen and Frank will finally duke it out, and the fate of Kalos lies in the hands of the winner. Last chapter, Frank killed Ariel and he activated Grim Reversion Stage 2 while Owen and Charizard activated Mega Fusion. Now, let's get going!
SomeGuy (guest): It really did pain me to kill her off, as she was (probably) my favorite character, but I felt it needed to be done. Reading your review of Ariel's tenure in the story made me realize how far along she had actually come, without me even realizing it while writing, lol. And the Star Wars vibes you got made me laugh pretty hard. As for you hating Frank, so much so that you want to kill him, awesome! I've been wanting people to feel that way about him for a while, though this was my first real chance at making that happen

Emboar-Man (guest): Nope, no legendaries for Owen (I really shouldn't have done that in Johto, but they were released in Sinnoh). As for the befriending one of them, that could turn into an epilogue chapter if I decided to do it, but I probably won't because I don't want to get too far ahead of myself
Defender31415: To be honest, I have no idea XD I just looked up "Emotional death music" and that was the best thing I found. Believe it or not, finding music that I liked for last chapter took a longer time than actually writing it... and Frank's an ass
guest: Yeah, I think it was good for Ariel to go out that way (read SomeGuy's review if you haven't), as it not only captures her dying with her beliefs/desires, but it also sets the stage for Owen and Frank's battle. As for Blaziken, I'm going to put a poll up for that, because I'm more than happy with having Owen get him, or just having Blaziken leave
MCMXCV: Haha, that would be my reaction too, and Owen will be really pissed off this chapter and play the battle aggressively, but after the showdown, he won't talk about it often, but there will be a chapter before the Kalos League introduction dedicated to where he is in terms of coping with Ariel's death

"Flamethrower!" Charizard reared his head back and unleashed a wicked wave of fire that was blue, meaning it was hotter than normal. Despite the exponential growth in strength and speed, the Flamethrower attack missed Dragonite, who shot straight into the air in order to dodge. Frank and his admins also dove away from the scorching fire, and they looked at Charizard in fear.
"Dragonite, Thunder Punch!" Dragonite swooped down at light speed while his right fist was covered in electricity, and he closed in on Charizard. Much to the winged lizard's surprise, Dragonite flew by him and threw his fist at Owen, who stared in fear. Without hesitation, Charizard shoved his trainer away from the attack and blocked it with his own Thunder Punch, which caught Frank and everyone else by surprise. The result of the attacks colliding was electricity flying everywhere before an explosion sent Owen and Charizard off the right side of the platform while Dragonite and Frank were sent off the left.
"Owen, no!" Brooklyn shouted as she watched her boyfriend descend at an incredible speed. Luckily, Charizard was able to catch Owen with little effort, thanks to Mega Fusion, and he flew straight up just like Dragonite had done with Frank. The two trainers glared at each other while sitting on the backs of their first Pokemon, who were flying at the same altitude about ten feet away from the platform on top of Prism Tower.
"You're going to regret what you did! I will kill you!" Owen shouted to his father, who brushed off the comment and shot back.
"No, I won't, this is what I always wanted! Dragonite, use Dragonbreath!" Dragonite roared powerfully before unleashing a wave of green fire at Charizard and Owen, who were quick to counter.
"Flamethrower!" Owen shouted immediately after Frank's command, prompting Charizard to whip his head back before unleashing a wicked wave of bright blue fire. The two waves of green and blue energy collided and exploded, causing a massive cloud of smoke to fill the air. The thousands of residents, who had crowded around Prism Tower after watching Frank's battle with Ariel, gasped in shock as Owen and Charizard flew through the air, matching the speed of Frank and Dragonite. Both sides looked even in terms of strength, and everyone in the city could feel the power radiating from both sides.
"Dragonite, drop me off on the platform and crush them with Dragon Rush!" Frank demanded as Dragonite passed the tip of Prism Tower. The pseudo legendary turned on a dime and landed on the platform before taking off once again, this time acting as the pursuer. After letting out a roar, Dragonite tucked his arms and wings into his sides and he was engulfed in blue energy that took the shape of a blue dragon while speeding towards Owen and Charizard.
"Turn around and use Dragon Claw straight through it!" Though he knew it was risky, Owen didn't care about his wellbeing, and was more focused on winning the battle at any cost. Charizard quickly turned around like a honing missile and his claws extended while spiraling blue energy spun around them. The fire and flying type swung his arms forward and he knocked Dragonite back, and the older Pokemon grunted in pain from the super effective attack.
The crowd watching let out an inaudible applause for Owen and Charizard as they continued to attack Dragonite, who wasn't able to keep up with the speed of Charizard's ferocious attacks. As Charizard continued his onslaught, Frank scowled and looked down at the Grim Reversion Bracelet on his wrist, and he cursed at the device until Dragonite grabbed both of Charizard's arms.
"Take them out with Hyper Beam!" Dragonite quickly fired a blast of orange energy that struck Charizard in the chest and sent the flying Pokemon and Owen spiraling into the buildings beneath the top of the tower. Charizard quickly grabbed Owen off his back and protected his trainer while crashing through a gigantic building that belonged to an incredibly rich company. A large hole was present in the wall and Charizard rose to his feet while Owen grimaced in pain. Even though he hadn't been hurt by the fall, he noticed Charizard was grimacing similarly.
"I guess we feel each other's pain," Owen thought to himself as he hopped on Charizard's back. The fire type zipped out of the building and slammed right into Dragonite, who wasn't ready for the speed of his opponent, and Charizard carried the dragon type past the top of Prism Tower. Frank turned and watched as Charizard, Owen, and Dragonite crashed through another building at light speed, but Charizard flew back to the tower and landed. Owen hopped off his Pokemon's back victoriously while Frank continued to have his back face his son.
"It's over, Frank. Charizard, end this with Dragon Claw!" Charizard smirked at the command and flew forward while blue energy spiraled around his claws, and he reared back in preparation to stab the villain standing before him.
"Drago!" Suddenly, Charizard was slammed straight into the platform as Dragonite crashed on top of him, and the dragon type began to strike Charizard repeatedly with Thunder Punch attacks. Owen dropped to one knee as Charizard suffered blow after blow, but the fire type's eyes shot open and he grabbed both of Dragonite's arms. Then, he fired a Flamethrower that scorched his opponent so severely, Dragonite fell to the ground and rolled around in agony. Charizard took the opportunity to return to Owen's side and he roared while Dragonite rose back to his feet and did the same.
"I'm impressed you two have managed to keep up with us this long," Frank complimented, though neither Owen nor Charizard acknowledged the man's words. "Oh well, I guess I tried being nice. Dragonite, take to the sky!" With a powerful flap of his wings, Dragonite flew straight into the air and looked down to see Owen and Charizard pursuing aggressively. The dragon could see a burning fire in the eyes of both trainer and Pokemon, which unnerved him. Due to this, Charizard was able to grab a hold of Dragonite's tail, and he started to swing the Pokemon around before chucking Dragonite at the platform. Dragonite slammed against the metal at such a high speed the tower started to lean slightly.
"Way to go, Owen! Kick his butt!" Cindy cheered while Frank motioned for Viviana, Spike, and their Pokemon to leave. Despite their protests, the admins fled the peak and headed down the stairs while Frank looked up at Owen and Charizard. The fire type crashed down on top of Dragonite and slammed his foot on his opponent's neck, making Dragonite cough.
"Charizard's so strong," Eddy opined, looking at the others while speaking.
"We're done here," Charizard said with the help of his translator. He continued to push his foot down on Dragonite's neck before roaring victoriously, but Frank didn't seem to agree with the fire type.
"I wouldn't be so sure. Dragonite, break free with Outrage!" Suddenly, Dragonite was shrouded in a bright orange coat of energy and he flailed violently, ultimately breaking away from Charizard. As that happened, Owen hopped off Charizard's back and his Pokemon took to the sky once again. The cameraman continued to film the battle and the thousands of people watching at the bottom of the tower continued to cheer for Owen.
"Slam into Dragonite with a spinning Aerial Ace!" Owen shouted. Charizard nodded and started spinning like a drill before swooping down to crush Dragonite, who was more than quick enough to counter thanks to Frank.
"Use Dragon Rush and hold nothing back!" Dragonite was suddenly covered in blue energy and he zipped forward, colliding with Charizard. Streaks of white and blue light flew through the air as the two Pokemon continued to battle back and forth, but Dragonite ultimately prevailed, sending Charizard flying off the platform. Once again, Owen cringed as a bolt of pain rushed through his body, and so did Charizard.
"Use Flamethrower!" Owen shouted, not wanting to waste another second that Dragonite could use to return to Frank's side. Charizard heard Owen's thoughts and reared back before charring Dragonite to a crisp with a burning blue Flamethrower attack that could've melted the ground, and Dragonite was sent rolling towards Frank. The Team Grim leader looked down at his Pokemon angrily before looking up at Owen and Charizard, who were both panting in exhaustion.
"They look like they're running out of gas," Brooklyn whispered to Catherine, who was still crying over Ariel, and understandably so. Hearing Brooklyn's words, the mother turned her head to see Owen and Charizard slouching while bruises covered both of their bodies, while Frank and Dragonite were also tired, but not to the extent of the younger duo.
"Owen's not going to lose," Daniel reassured the Kantonian's girlfriend. Everyone continued to watch as Dragonite pushed himself back to his feet and roared powerfully while Charizard opened his wings and prepared to engage in combat once again.
"You can do it, Owen and Charizard!" Eddy cheered encouragingly, but the pair didn't pay attention to his words. Instead, they were focused on ending the battle, and they were communicating mentally thanks to the power of Mega Fusion.
"I need to get in close enough if I want to finish this," Charizard's voice echoed in Owen's head. The teen maintained a stone-cold expression, and Frank and Dragonite waited for their opponents to attack.
"Don't worry, I know exactly how to make that happen."
"Charizard, use Aerial Ace!" Charizard quickly zipped forward while streaks of light flew off his face, and they trailed behind his body. Everything seemed to go in slow-motion for Owen as Dragonite and Frank smirked before the man issued a counterattack he thought was going to work.
"Destroy Charizard with Thunder Punch, Dragonite!" Frank commanded. Dragonite's fist was covered in electricity and he threw his arm forward. Owen smirked, however, and Charizard landed on the ground and ducked. Dragonite's arm went right over Charizard's head, shocking Frank and giving Owen the perfect opportunity to end the battle.
"Wrap this up with Seismic Toss!" the teen yelled. Charizard grabbed Dragonite and launched himself into the air. The pair of Pokemon ascended about a hundred feet before Charizard began to fly in a circle, and he descended like a bomb. As they plummeted towards the platform their trainers were standing on, Dragonite freed one of his arms and began to punch Charizard in the face. The fire type lost his grip on the dragon, and Dragonite flew away from Charizard just before Charizard crashed into the platform headfirst.
"Agggh!" Owen screamed in pain while grabbing his head. The teen dropped to his knees in agony and continued to scream while Charizard reverted back to his normal form. Frank smirked devilishly when he saw Charizard's normal form, and he began to crack his knuckles and then his neck. The crowd at the bottom of Prism Tower stared at the screens in silence, hoping Owen would find a way to defeat Frank.
"Owen!" Catherine screamed while trying to break out of her handcuffs. Frank slowly walked over to the teen and cackled before kicking him in the ribs. Owen attempted to block another kick, but was unable to do so, and he coughed out in pain. Satisfied with the damage done, Frank turned and looked at Charizard before nodding at Dragonite.
"Use Hyper Beam to blast Charizard off the edge."
"Don't do it!" Cindy shrieked, making Frank smirk. Dragonite, however, didn't fire the attack and looked away from Charizard. Frank glared at the dragon type and then he looked down at Charizard once again. "You're a coward and a monster! You don't deserve to be a father!"
"Is that so?" Frank asked. Before Cindy could say anything, the man pulled out his pistol and aimed at her head.
"Stop! If you're going to kill anyone, shoot me," Catherine pleaded while looking at Frank. The man turned and smirked, walking towards the woman while loading the chamber in his gun. Owen looked up at his parents and Frank pressed his gun against Catherine's head. Brooklyn, Daniel, Eddy, and Cindy all tried to break out of their cuffs in an attempt to help Catherine, but the woman turned and nodded at them. "Please, if you do kill me, leave them alone." Frank flinched at the request and turned his back to Catherine for a few seconds. Owen continued to watch and attempted to stand on his feet, but was unable to do so because of the injuries Charizard had suffered during Mega Fusion.
"Request denied," the man said before turning around and shooting Catherine, killing the woman instantly. Owen tried to scream at the gory sight, but was too weak to do so. The mother he had been searching for was gone in the blink of an eye, and his family was being erased from existence with each passing second. His traveling companions , meanwhile, yelled in horror when they saw a large bullet hole in the woman's hed. "Who's next?" Frank asked rhetorically while pacing back and forth. Suddenly, Frank stopped in front of Eddy and stared into the eight year old's eyes.
"Stop," Owen whispered weakly, grabbing Frank's attention. The man turned his body to face Owen, and he watched as the teen attempted to stand, but his legs gave out and he fell on his face. "Leave them alone."
"Hahaha, you sure are a fighter, just like me. How about this; I'll kill you first so you don't have to watch your friends?" Owen looked up to see Frank aiming his gun at him, and the teen closed his eyes, not wanting to see his father. "This is the end, Owen."
So Owen wasn't able to defeat Frank, and is now staring death in the face. There isn't anything else for me to say... so till next time, peace out.
