Theme Song
The dark has lost and peace has won (Owen and Charizard look out at Lumiose City from the top of Prism Tower)
Push ahead, go on and run (Owen hops on Charizard's back and Charizard uses Flamethrower on the camera)
Your family's gone, you must stand tall (Ariel and Catherine look like ghosts and put their hands on Owen's shoulders, and he's smiling while tears come to his eyes)
The love's still there, so you won't fall (Brooklyn and the others stand by Owen's sides, and they start running towards the championship stadium at the Kalos League/Grand Festival)
Make them proud and don't look back (A short mantage of Owen battling his rivals with Chesnaught, Greninja, and Tyrantrum celebrating)
Stay strong, go ahead and attack! (All ten of Owen's Pokemon jump in front of him)
When it's lost your bond grows strong (Gengar slowly gets off the ground and Mega Evolves)
Don't second-guess you aren't in wrong (Charizard, Feraligatr, Sceptile, Infernape, Snivy, and Greninja fade out and replace each other)
And when it's done, you'll move on... Pokemon! (Owen vanishes and a girl with gray eyes and brown hair replaces him)
Okay, it's time to unveil candidates for Owen's team for his battle against one of the champions, and I can tell you only one reviewer came close to getting it. Very close, actually. Anyways, last chapter Owen defeated Larenz in the championship round and will now pick the champion he wants to battle, while the group will now shift their attention to the Grand Festival! Let's get going! Also, Owen's team will only be the Pokemon that travel with him. The Kalos team is still present, they're just not going to be able to battle.
P.S: Please check out my new story, "Pokemon Kanto Adventure: A New Generation!"
The 6th Spectral King: Lol
midnightrebellion86: Why Puff? That's an interesting choice, as is Hawlucha
guest: Stephanie? Do you mean Catherine? XD And in regards to the fairy type issue, that was misworded on my part, in that fire resists fairy. Anywho, thanks for the review!
Defender31415: That's what I meant. Fairy type attacks are weak against fire types (in hindsight, I should've worded it differently), so it was just a matter of wording
Beastmode456: Yeah, he's come a far way since Kanto
SinnohBlaze (guest): It's good to hear from you again! I didn't mention his battling Red because I deleted those chapters, and it was a hypothetical battle (while it was posted). The new story will be pretty similar to this series (it's already posted) but it will follow a new cast of characters, and the main protagonist's Pokemon will have larger roles because they'll all be able to talk thanks to translators. And thank you very much on reaching that milestone!
Breana (guest): I think that could be a really interesting battle, and it'll be awesome to see Owen's strongest Pokemon involved in the same battle. Regardless of who he battles, you guys are in for a treat
ShadowDragon9000: I actually came really close to having Owen lose, even after Gengar Mega Evolving, but I thought that would've been a sick joke. And if Owen wins, he will replace the champion he beats. So if he were to beat Red, for example, he'd become the champion of Kanto
Blaze Falcon: I think you're the only person that will say that, lol. I'm looking forward to it too, but it won't be a priority now that I can focus on my other story
SomeGuy (guest): To some degree, I was, but that was also mentioned in his submission, so it kind of wasn't. And I'd say I like the idea of doing a first person story, but third person wide would allow me to have more flexibility, where I could have chapters dedicated to first person pov's
Guardianboy: That could be an interesting team. The way I see it, there are so many possible combinations I could use, it's tough to prefer one over another
Shion Rasenka: Good, I didn't want to shock people with him winning (or losing, for that matter), because I'm tired of trying to surprise people with outcomes, at least in this series. And thank you! I'm looking forward to seeing your reaction in regards to who Owen chooses to battle!
Emboar-Man (guest): Why no Charizard? And the first question was referring to which champion, not character, though I do like that idea. There won't be any other evolutions, however, so every team is set for the remainder of the story. No one will be getting any Mega Evolutions either
Honored Guest (guest): Yeah, because you could tell one chapter into the story that it will definitely suck. I do appreciate the support with this story, though
MCMXCV: Yeah, I'm a fiend, but didn't my lie make the win that much better? And I'm really interested about your choice of Slurpuff (even though she was a beast)
Elodus: Well, I had two different chapters written out where Owen lost, and one where Owen won, and it was decided on me not wanting to have written six stories with the main character never winning :P And the Grand Festival winner still hasn't been decided, and probably won't be until I get around to writing the championship. Also, I really appreciate the review on chapter 2! I'll PM you about it ASAP

"Come on out, everyone!" Owen shouted while tossing four Pokeballs in the air. He, Brooklyn, Daniel, Cindy, Eddy, CJ, and Fate were all sitting on the deck of the apartment, and they watched as Owen's Pokemon appeared from their spherical prisons. Owen's Kalosian Pokemon stared in awe as four extremely powerful Pokemon appeared in front of Owen, who beamed at the group. "It's great to see all of you again!" the fifteen year old exclaimed before being embraced by all of the Pokemon.
"You can say that again," CJ remarked while greeting Heatmor. "I can't believe I'm seeing all of these Pokemon together," the older teen continued before laughing in shock. The six Pokemon nodded and began conversing while the humans continued talking about Owen's battle.
"Wait, where's Krookodile?" Fate inquired while looking for the ground and dark type.
"He doesn't have all of the strength in his leg yet, and I don't want any type redundancies. Heatmor's the exception to the rule, though," Owen answered while patting the fire type on the back. Heatmor nodded confidently before turning back to introduce himself to Gengar.
"I can't believe I'm meeting all of your strongest Pokemon! It's like a dream come true!" Eddy exclaimed while bowing to each of the four new Pokemon. Zangoose and Sceptile glanced at each other, thinking Eddy was weird, Garchomp basked in the attention, and Heatmor beamed at Eddy's kind words. "Were there any others you considered?"
"Yup. Tyranitar, Aggron, and Krookodile were the others," Owen replied as he sat down in the chair nearest him. "It doesn't matter, though. I think all of my Pokemon could take on anyone I asked them to."
"That's a pretty bold thing to say," Fate remarked, to which Owen nodded confidently. "So when do you have to decide?"
"Today, but there's no specific time I'm supposed to answer."
"Who are you going to battle?" Daniel quizzed as Gengar finished her introductions and walked over to Owen with her new teammates. The fifteen year old didn't answer, however, and he began petting each of his Pokemon. "I guess you're not telling anyone?"
"That's right," Owen answered, not wanting his decision to reach the media before he wanted. "If I decide to change my mind and the media somehow hears about it, I don't feel like dealing with that hurricane." Owen's friends nodded, knowing that he was right, and they decided to leave him alone.
"We're going to get ready for the Grand Festival introduction," Brooklyn informed her boyfriend before leaving the deck with Eddy, CJ, Fate, Daniel, and Cindy. Owen nodded with a smile as the large group of trainers disappeared into the apartment, and he turned to look at his Pokemon. Charizard, Sceptile, Zangoose, Garchomp, Heatmor, and Gengar all looked at their trainer while the rest of Owen's Kalosian Pokemon minded their own business, not wanting to interfere.
"Before I announce who we'll battle, I want you guys to have some input, give the fact that you're going out and battling. So, I want you to raise your hand when you want to battle someone, okay?" The six Pokemon nodded, and Owen ran through the list of champions, and all of his Pokemon voted, which brought a smile to the teen's face. "That settles it, I guess." Slowly, Owen looked out at the large battlefield that he had won in the night before, and he took a deep breath before dialing someone's number into his PokeGear.
"Mr. Goodshaw, it's Owen. I've made my decision."
000
"This is only the introduction, right?" Eddy asked Owen, Cindy, CJ, and Fate. The four older trainers nodded confidently, and Eddy let out a sigh of relief. "Good. I don't want to be here right now," he said, making everyone laugh.
"It's a good thing you won the Kalos League, Owen. Now we get our own private box to watch from!" Cindy exclaimed as she walked around the luxury box and began filling her plate with several different kinds of food from all different regions.
"She's right about that!" CJ reaffirmed before burping, only crumbs remaining on his plate. Fate roller her eyes at her boyfriend's slob-like state and sat down in one of the several leather chairs available.
"You're welcome, I guess," Owen answered as Garchomp sat down in front of his trainer and roared. He then glanced over at Zangoose, who was laying against a wall quietly and glared at the normal type before walking over to him, eager to have a sparring match. "No way, Garchomp, not here," Owen scolded without even looking. Garchomp pouted at Owen's seriousness and glared at Gengar and Heatmor, who were laughing.
"This team isn't getting along very well, Owen," Charizard said as the coordinators were making their way onto the battlefield. "Maybe you should rethink this group."
"No way, Charizard. You've proven you're my six strongest Pokemon, and I'm not going to change my mind," Owen replied emphatically, still looking for Brooklyn and Daniel, but mainly Brooklyn.
"Tile!"
Rolling his eyes, Owen turned and saw Sceptile and Garchomp butt heads while Gengar attempted to keep the two powerful Pokemon from doing so. By doing that, Gengar attracted Zangoose, who tried pushing her out of the way in support of Sceptile. Heatmor quickly made his way over to the group and shoved Zangoose after he had pushed Gengar, and the five Pokemon began to brawl. Owen quickly withdrew the five Pokemon back to their Pokeballs and looked at Charizard, who shook his head at the actions.
"I told you so."
"Welcome, everyone, to the Grand Festival! My name is Courtney, and I will be your host for the tournament!" a blonde shouted into her microphone. The stadium cheered in response, though it was much quieter than the Kalos League applause. "There are currently 37 talented coordinators aiming to be the best of Kalos, but only one can win! Now, before we get to the rules, I'd like to take this time to inform all of you that the winner of the Kalos League is present! Please give a warm round of applause for Owen Plateau!" Courtney screamed, which made the crowd explode.
"Wait, what did she just say?" Eddy inquired before the scoreboards streamed Owen's luxury box. The teen walked up to the glass and waved to the crowd, which made them all cheer his name. After the footage was cut, Owen sat back in his regular seat, near the back of the box, and he watched the event unfold.
Meanwhile, on the battlefield, Daniel and Brooklyn laughed at the attention Owen had just received.
"Damn, everyone in Kalos loves him," Daniel pointed out, whispering to Brooklyn, who nodded in response.
"That isn't good news for you, is it?" a familiar voice asked. Brooklyn turned her head to the left and scowled when she saw Olivia smirking at her. "You two are dating, right? All of the girls are going to fall in love with him," the older girl joked playfully. Brooklyn, however, didn't laugh, making things awkward.
"So what have you been up to, Olivia?" Daniel quizzed.
"Just competing and catching Pokemon. You know, the usual. I'm guessing you guys are still traveling with Owen?"
"That's right." The three teens turned to see Larenz to their right, but he continued to look at the presenter. "I remember because they were on the sidelines when I lost the championship," the sixteen year old stated dejectedly. An awkward silence fell over the group and they looked back up while listening to Courtney.
"The first round will be double performances, and only the top four coordinators will advance to the battle rounds! The reason for such a large cut is because of the league year starting earlier than expected, so we have to finish this tournament by the end of the week." Despite their annoyance, the coordinators remained silent and the crowd didn't seem to mind the competition being shortened.
"The semifinals and finals will also be double performances, and competing coordinators will have a set amount of points during those battles. Whoever has the most points at the end of the battles will win, and battles will be ended if one competitor loses all of their points. Performances will start tomorrow, with the semifinals and finals taking place the day after. Thank you for attending this briefing, everyone. I wish you all the best of luck!"

Lance sat in his room, patiently waiting for Owen's decision to be relayed to him, and he looked over at the four other champions. Wallace and Cynthia seemed to be the most anxious while Red kept to himself, and Alder was busy laughing at nothing, which irked the dragon master. RING! RING! Lance quickly darted over to the phone in his room and he picked it up.
"Hello? Mr. Goodshaw?" the champion of the Johto region quizzed before the person on the other end could say anything.
"Ah, Lance, how did you know?"
"Lucky guess," the dragon master fibbed, not wanting to admit he was probably the most anxious of the champions. Charles laughed at the answer, knowing Lance was lying, but he didn't say anything about it.
"Well, Owen's decision has come in, so please put me on speaker." Without a word, Lance tapped a button on the phone and rested it on a table that he and the others were sitting around. "Hello? Can everybody hear me?"
"Yup!" Alder exclaimed, laughing at the sound of his own voice, which made everyone scowl.
"Owen Plateau has decided that he will be challenging Red for the title of Indigo League Champion!" Charles shouted over the phone, shocking the other champions. Red, on the other hand, grinned at the information and rose from his seat before putting his baseball cap on his head.
"Good. I was hoping he'd choose me."
As most of you predicted, Owen will be challenging Red for the right to be the champion of the Kanto Region! With his battle looming - and a press conference or two - Owen's going to start training soon. Because of that, I've decided to add some chapters to build the hyper for the final battle. Till next time, peace out.
1) Who do you think will win the Grand Festival?
2) Thoughts on Owen's Pokemon hating each other?
3) Predictions for next chapters?
Next Chapter: "The Grand Festival Begins!": With the first round of the Grand Festival under way, Brooklyn and Daniel have the odds stacked against them with 33 coordinators waiting to be eliminated. Will the two be able to advance to the semifinals?
