Theme Song

The dark has lost and peace has won (Owen and Charizard look out at Lumiose City from the top of Prism Tower)
Push ahead, go on and run (Owen hops on Charizard's back and Charizard uses Flamethrower on the camera)
Your family's gone, you must stand tall (Ariel and Catherine look like ghosts and put their hands on Owen's shoulders, and he's smiling while tears come to his eyes)
The love's still there, so you won't fall (Brooklyn and the others stand by Owen's sides, and they start running towards the championship stadium at the Kalos League/Grand Festival)
Make them proud and don't look back (Owen hoists the Kalos League trophy over his head)
Stay strong, go ahead and attack! (Mega Fusion Charizard collides with a Pokemon covered in fire, and an explosion occurs)
When it's lost your bond grows strong (Gengar slowly gets off the ground and Mega Evolves)
Don't second-guess you aren't in wrong (Charizard, Sceptile, Zangoose, Garchomp, Heatmor, and Gengar appear next to Owen, smiling)
And when it's done, you'll move on... Pokemon! (Owen vanishes and a girl with gray eyes and brown hair replaces him)

The battle is coming! The battle is coming! That's a history reference, just so you know :3 So, last chapter Owen took his Pokemon out to train in the woods in an attempt to strengthen their nonexistent bonds. After working together, the six Pokemon seemed to become incredibly closer, and Owen even picked up a new technique, which I'll call the elemental whip. The name of that will change based on which Pokemon uses it, so if Charizard were to use it, the move would be called Fire Whip. With Sceptile, it would be Solar Whip. Now that that's out of the way, this chapter will be the final interview before the battle, and all of Owen and Red's Pokemon will be questioned along with their trainers. Let's get going!

Blase Falcon: I wouldn't go that far, but I do think Red will have his hands full, especially after the interaction between his and Owen's Pokemon this chapter. And it was mentioned (briefly) that Olivia won the Grand Festival

ShadowDragon9000: Really? I didn't know it was that popular, but I don't mind because I love the name (is that a girly thing to say? Lol)

Shion Rasenka: The gender was decided on me not wanting to have Owen's first kid be his son, who would likely follow in his steps, because I feel like that's been done way too many times. And it was really fun writing about the progression of the relationship between all of the Pokemon, so I'm glad you liked it! And I'm going to be sad when this story ends, because I've been writing the series for almost three years, but at least there will be a spinoff (which is posted). It's really weird knowing that the whole series is coming to an end, and it's kind of hard to deal with, especially because I originally expected to have this done in July :(

MCMXCV: Thank you! This was probably the most fun chapter to write (between 81-85), so it's great to see that people really liked it. Also, thanks for being the 600th review!

Defender31415: Thanks, and I considered making Gray Owen's daughter for a long time. A while back I originally posted a spinoff to this series (the title was Pokemon Kanto Adventure 2, if I recall correctly) where the main character was Owen's son, but Owen was also the champion of the Kanto region. Idk, it would feel kind of sueish if I had made Gray his daughter (even though I do love the idea). Gray's relationship with Owen will potentially be very interesting, depending on where I want it to go

SomeGuy (guest): Well, Brooklyn's whole going through pregnancy shindig was ignored in part because I wanted to surprise you guys, which I didn't :/ And the whole timeline thing got all funked up somewhere along the way, and by the time I realized it, it was too late. And I kind of agree that it took a short amount of time, but given the fact that they all love Owen, they put their differences aside in order to help him reach his goal, though I do see your side of the argument. As for the others staying, the first draft of the chapter didn't include them, but it seemed weird of Owen to leave Brooklyn all alone with their child without any company. And never use logic on Fanfiction! You'll always end up burning yourself :3

Emboar-Man: Haha, maybe a Pichu? And no, nothing is keeping Braixen from evolving. If there was, I would've explained that

chaos02: Again, please STOP leaving one word reviews. I appreciate the time you took to read the chapter, but I don't want you reviewing if all it's going to be is "nice!" or "great!"

"Remember, everyone, don't say anything stupid or obnoxious," Owen instructed while his six Pokemon waited outside the room where their press conference would be held. Red and his Pokemon were also going to be present and answering questions, so things were bound to get heated between the Pokemon. "Just be as boring as you possibly can."

"Oh come on," Garchomp whined. "What's the fun in that?" the dragon type asked while looking at Owen, who glared at the Sinnoh Pokemon. "Okay, I'll try to be as quiet as possible, but I can't make any promises." Owen rolled his eyes at the dragon type, but smiled at the camaraderie being displayed amongst his Pokemon.

"Garchomp, you better not do anything to provoke Red's Pokemon," Brooklyn warned as she cradled Molly in her arms. The dragon type acted like he didn't hear the blonde's words, because he knew he was going to end up doing something stupid, no matter how hard he would try not to. "And you too," Brooklyn joked while looking at Owen, who laughed along with his girlfriend before kissing Molly on the head.

"Don't worry about me. Come on, everyone, it's time." With that, Owen and his Pokemon walked into the room, and all of the reporters began to take pictures as the sixteen year old sat down with his six Pokemon. Owen was the closest to the podium in the middle of the long table, while Red was on the other side with his Pokemon.

"Welcome to the press conference of the championship battle between Owen and Red! Both trainers have already made their statements about their respect for each other, so we're going to skip that and jump straight to the questions. First... you," Charles Goodshaw said while standing behind the podium. A young man with jelled hair stood up and was given a microphone.

"This question is for both sides' Pokemon, with Owen's answering first. Would any of you care to tell what your thought process is, knowing that you're going up against the Pokemon of the strongest trainer in the world?" Owen's six Pokemon looked at each other and Charizard cleared his throat to speak.

"Well, it's definitely exciting. At first, it was kind of intimidating, but I think we're all excited for the opportunity to showcase our skills that Owen's brought out," the winged lizard answered professionally.

"Yeah, I agree with Charizard," Sceptile added. "We just have to take the approach that this is like every other battle we've been through. It really isn't that big of a deal," the grass type opined, which made all of the reporters start scribbling their pens like crazy.

"What about this side?" Charles asked Red's Pokemon.

"To be honest, we're not impressed with this group," Snorlax answered nonchalantly, drawing a glare from Garchomp while Owen's other Pokemon simply kept their heads down, masking their anger. "They're all hype because that kid's from the same town as Red."

"Excuse me," Garchomp said into his mic, looking at the reporter who had asked the question. "I'd like to say a few words in response to the fat slob over there," the dragon announced while standing and pointing at Snorlax. Owen put his hands up to his face as soon as Garchomp cleared his throat. "I don't see how that loudmouth is in any position to talk, considering he's the weakest member of Red's team. Any of us would wipe the floor with him, and the same goes for the rest of Red's team." The entire room went nuts at the comments made by the dragon type, and his teammates started whispering angered words at him while Owen apologized to Red and his Pokemon.

"Next question... yes, over there," Charles said while pointing towards the back of the enormous room. A young woman stood up from her seat and was handed a microphone, which she spoke into confidently.

"This question is for both trainers. Red, you went on record saying Owen would win the Kalos League. What exactly separated him from the rest of the competition?"

"The first round of the tournament was a double battle, and Owen sent out his Charizard and Blaziken, which are both incredible Pokemon. He showed a connection I hadn't seen in any ordinary trainers, so that was the main factor."

"Owen, what drove you to choose Red, and what have you been using as motivation?"

"Umm... the whole incident with Team Grim kind of factored into my decision," Owen started before taking a deep breath, trying to hold back any tears. "My mom and sister were killed during the attack on Lumiose City, and they were amazing trainers and people that wouldn't back away from the challenge of taking on the World Champion. As for my motivation, definitely those two, my girlfriend, and my daughter," the teen answered before backing away from the mic.

"Wonderful responses, gentleman. Now, you, in the right corner," Charles said while pointing at a third reporter.

"This question is for Red's Charizard, and any of Owen's Pokemon willing to respond. Charizard, you're currently undefeated, with nearly a hundred victories over your opponents. How do you think Owen's Pokemon stack up to previous challenges, and how do you go about training for these battles?"

"I like to treat my opponents with the utmost respect, regardless of their skill levels, so it's not different now than it was nine years ago," the winged lizard answered, irking some of Owen's Pokemon, namely his Charizard. "I always try to work more than I did the day before, and find it as a failure when I can't do that."

"Clearly, no one's giving us a chance," Zangoose opined. "So I guess there's no point in us battling if we're going to lose. Right, guys?" the one eyed Pokemon asked his teammates sarcastically. Gengar, Heatmor, Sceptile, and Garchomp nodded in agreement while Charizard remained motionless, trying to hide his emotions just like Owen was doing.

"That's right," Gengar agreed. "Just remember, we're going to use this to push ourselves even harder," the ghost warned her opponents while glancing over at Red's Pokemon.

"Pfft, yeah right," Red's Charizard countered while the others laughed. Red tried to shush his Pokemon and apologized to Owen when they continued to laugh and mock the younger teen's team. "It doesn't matter which one of you, or how many of you I face. I'll wipe the floor with all of you, especially that Charizard." The journalists went silent when Owen and his Pokemon turned to look at Charizard, who stared straight down before taking a deep breath.

"Care to respond, Charizard?" Charles asked the fire and flying type.

"No. I let my battling do the talking," the fire starter said. "These... pathetic attempts to rile us up aren't going to change our plan heading into tomorrow. If anything, it shows a sign of weakness on their part," Charizard proclaimed before smacking his hands against the table triumphantly. He then stood up and walked out of the room, and everyone stared in shock, including Owen.

"...Okay, moving on."

000

"Owen, I just want to apologize for the way my Pokemon were acting there," Red informed the younger teen. "I'm sorry if they offended you in any way."

"Don't worry about it, it's just because the battle's tomorrow," Owen replied, carefree. "Besides, my Pokemon were just as involved as your Pokemon." Red nodded in response before walking towards the other end of the hallway while Owen made his way towards Brooklyn and Molly. "I'm guessing you saw that," Owen said to his girlfriend as he took Molly.

"Yeah, Charizard's mad," Brooklyn replied as she walked outside with Owen and they made their way towards their apartment that the league was paying for. It was even nicer than the apartment at the Kalos League, but the same group was there. Eddy, Cindy, Daniel, CJ, and Fate were all waiting for Owen and Brooklyn when they walked into the apartment, and Owen's attention was immediately turned to Charizard, who was shooting Flamethrower attacks off the deck.

"I don't think I've seen Charizard so angry before," CJ said to Owen while Leaf nodded in agreement. Hez also nodded, but he seemed scared of the idea of approaching the winged lizard.

"Red's Pokemon really got under his skin. How's the rest of the team holding up?" Fate quizzed while Owen prepared to release his five other Pokemon. "Zangoose was getting pretty snippy back there."

"They're just as mad as Charizard, but I think that's what their plan was," Owen opined.

"What a bunch of jerks!" Eddy shouted while Owen put Molly in Brooklyn's arms. The sixteen year old nodded in agreement before walking out of the living area, and he stepped onto the deck, making Charizard turn around.

"Oh! Owen! I didn't see you there," Charizard said while rubbing his neck sheepishly. "What's up?" the winged lizard asked, trying to conceal his rage. The sixteen year old looked right into Charizard's eyes and folded his arms over his chest, making Charizard look at the ground in disappointment. "I'm sorry. It's just... you said not to show any emotion, and I couldn't handle it anymore." Charizard flinched when Owen walked forward and stuck his arm out, but he opened his eyes when Owen patted his head gently.

"It's okay, buddy, I get it. I almost flipped out, but the interview ended thanks to you," Owen said cheerily, making Charizard crack a slight grin. Suddenly, the five Pokeballs on Owen's belt opened and the powerful Pokemon looked at their trainer and his first Pokemon.

"Charizard, that was awesome! You should've seen the looks on their faces!" Sceptile exclaimed while patting the fire type on the back. "Oh man, we really got them good."

"Especially Zangoose!" Gengar cackled. "That was the best response I've ever heard." Zangoose bowed as if he were a performer while the other Pokemon clapped, and he grinned before cracking his back.

"I think that award goes to Garchomp. I mean, he called Red' Snorlax fat, haha!" Heatmor opined before falling on his back and laughing along with the others, which made Owen and Charizard smile before they ran inside in an attempt to kill time before their battle the following day.

"Owen," Charizard called to his trainer, who turned around before he could walk back inside. "I have a favor to ask you."

"Fire away," Owen replied.

"I want you to save me for last," Charizard requested solemnly, bringing silence. "Or send me out whenever that Charizard goes out. I want to make sure he knows who the strongest fire type is." Owen looked down at the ground, thinking over Charizard's request before he opened the door to go inside.

"No problem. We'll take 'em out together."

Not to blow my own horn or anything, but I feel like the interview kind of showed a sense of comradery, though feel free to argue if that's how you feel. Anyways, Red's Pokemon came off as (a bit) arrogant with their responses, and that won't sit well with Owen's Pokemon. Next chapter will finally be the battle between Owen and Red, but I am not be able to edit it because the file is so large it won't save :/ If it were able to save, I think there would be another 1,000-2,500 words, which would push the number of words to roughly 12,000 words! Also, the theme song was cut out of next chapter due to saving issues. Till next time, peace out.

1) Who do you think will win?

2) Whose responses did you enjoy the most? Which did you hate the most? Why?

Next Chapter: "Pushed to the Limit": Owen's battle with Red has finally arrived, and the two duel for the title of Kanto Champion. With both sides giving it their all, will Owen be able to defeat Red?
