Theme Song
The dark has lost and peace has won (Owen and Charizard look out at Lumiose City from the top of Prism Tower)
Push ahead, go on and run (Owen hops on Charizard's back and Charizard uses Flamethrower on the camera)
Your family's gone, you must stand tall (Ariel and Catherine look like ghosts and put their hands on Owen's shoulders, and he's smiling while tears come to his eyes)
The love's still there, so you won't fall (Brooklyn and the others stand by Owen's sides, and they start running towards the championship stadium at the Kalos League/Grand Festival)
Make them proud and don't look back (Owen hoists the Kalos League trophy over his head)
Stay strong, go ahead and attack! (Mega Fusion Charizard collides with a Pokemon covered in fire, and an explosion occurs)
When it's lost your bond grows strong (Gengar slowly gets off the ground and Mega Evolves)
Don't second-guess you aren't in wrong (Charizard, Sceptile, Zangoose, Garchomp, Heatmor, and Gengar appear next to Owen, smiling)
And when it's done, you'll move on... Pokemon! (Owen vanishes and a girl with gray eyes and brown hair replaces him)
It's the battle you've all been waiting for. That's right, Owen and Red's two part duel will begin, and boy is it going to get intense. Rather than spoiling what happens, let's just get going!

"Remember, this is exactly what we wanted. We have our battle with Red, and we're going to prove to the world that we're the real deal!" Owen shouted like a motivated coach, looking at each of his six Pokemon.
Charizard, Sceptile, Zangoose, Garchomp, Heatmor, and Gengar stood in front of the trainer and watched him pace back and forth.
"Now, let's go out there and win!"
The six Pokemon roared excitedly and Owen withdrew all six of them when a man motioned for him to walk down the hallway. The teen nodded and took a deep breath before he began walking towards the battlefield. The tiny sliver of light grew with every step and Owen's heartbeat sped up along with it. Cheers started to get louder, but Owen stopped at the edge of the hallway.
"In the left corner is a trainer who has made his name known across the world! After defeating the sinister Team Grim and making his way through the Kalos League, this trainer has flashed incredible potential and lacks fear! Please welcome Owen Plateau!" the announcer screamed.
("Heart of a Champion" by Nelly begins playing)
Owen slowly stepped out of the hallway and the stadium began to shake as everyone rose from their seats and shrieked at the same time. The teen froze and looked around at the world's largest arena, taking in the once in a lifetime sight before inhaling a great amount of air. His face appeared on the left half of the four scoreboards plastered on the second level seating, and six Pokeballs appeared next to his picture.
"This is it," Brooklyn said to herself while standing and clapping for her boyfriend, who stopped walking once he reached the middle of the battlefield. "He's worked so hard to get here."
Daniel, Eddy, Cindy, CJ, and Fate nodded and stared at Owen until the lights of the stadium turned off, confusing everyone in the arena.
(Music stops)
"And now it's time to introduce our second trainer! He became the youngest Champion ever at the mere age of ten, and he hasn't lost a single battle since being crowned the Champion of the Indigo League and the World Champion! Please give it up for the most powerful trainer in the world... REEEEDDD!" the announcer screamed while pointing at the other entrance to the battlefield. Six large flames shot into the air - three on each side - as Red walked onto the battlefield nonchalantly, and his intro music began to play.
(Red's theme starts)
"Red! Red! Red!" the crowd screamed in rhythm while stomping, sending mini earthquakes throughout the stadium.
Owen looked around timidly as the crowd continued to scream for the Champion, but he stopped when Red stood one foot away from him with a smile.
"I never thought I'd see this," CJ announced, marveling at the sight. "This is going to be the greatest battle ever!"
(Music stops)
"Trainers, this will be a full battle for the title of Indigo League Champion! You may both switch your Pokemon freely, and Mega Evolution is allowed! The battle will be over when all six Pokemon on one side are unable to battle! You may both head back to your boxes!"
Owen and Red simply nodded at each other, having already wished each other the best of luck the night before, and they stood in their trainer boxes. The scoreboard then lit up and the first Pokeballs next to the pictures of the trainers was enlarged.
"Trainers, choose your first Pokemon!" the referee shouted, looking at both sides. At the same time, Owen and Red grabbed their first Pokeballs without hesitation and chucked them forwards.
"Go, Sceptile/Go, Pikachu!"
The crowd exploded with roars as Sceptile's picture appeared in the first box next to Owen's and Pikachu's next to Red's. The two Pokemon locked eyes and the referee raised his arms as the noise continued to increase.
"Red, you may have the first move!"
"Okay. Pikachu, Quick Attack!"
"Intercept with your own Quick Attack, Sceptile!"
Both Pokemon sped towards each other while white rays of light trailed their bodies. Suddenly, the two Pokemon collided and a ball of energy surrounded their bodies before they skidded back to their trainers, who were watching anxiously. The crowd suddenly began cheering for the evenly matched Pokemon, and Red cleared his throat before pointing across the battlefield.
"Sprint towards Sceptile as fast as you can!" Red commanded in an attempt to overwhelm Sceptile with his electric type's speed.
In the blink of an eye, Pikachu bolted across the battlefield and leaped towards the fully evolved grass type, who threw his arms out to his sides while smirking.
"Surround Pikachu with Double Team and then strike with Leaf Blade!"
As Pikachu neared Sceptile, the grass type copied himself and surrounded the smaller Pokemon, who looked around in confusion before locking eyes with Red. Before the champion could issue another command, Sceptile sprinted forwards and landed a vicious Leaf Blade that sent Pikachu flying across the battlefield, but he stopped just in front of Red.
"Stay strong, Pikachu. Use Thunderbolt on the ground!" Red ordered.
Pikachu quickly jumped in the air while he was glowing in electricity. A bolt of zigzagging yellow electricity was fired at Sceptile, and the attack hit its target, making the Hoenn Pokemon cry out in pain before dropping to one knee. Despite this, Sceptile pushed himself back up and cracked his fingers, glaring at Pikachu.
"Let's use a spinning Aerial Ace!"
Sceptile grinned before running towards Owen, but he jumped past his trainer and planted his feet against the wall. He then launched himself at Pikachu while white streaks of light trailed off his face, and he began to spin like a drill. The crowd cheered as Red turned to his Pikachu and nodded, prompting the rodent to sprint towards Sceptile.
"Smash Sceptile into the ground with Iron Tail!"
Pikachu jumped while his tail was covered in iron, and he began spinning like a wheel before slamming it over Sceptile's head, slamming the grass starter into the ground so hard parts of the battlefield began to break.
"Sceptile, fire a Leaf Storm at Pikachu quickly!"
Before Pikachu or Red could react, Sceptile was covered in a flurry of swirling leaves, and they were sent flying towards the smaller Pokemon. Red winced as Pikachu screamed in pain from the grass type attack, and the electric type laid on the ground motionlessly. As the referee began to walk forward, Pikachu pushed himself back on his feet, and he began to emit electricity from his cheeks.
"That's the spirit, Pikachu! Use Electro Ball!"
Pikachu grinned as a ball of yellow electricity was formed on the end of his tail, and he whipped it at Sceptile, who was more than ready to counter.
"Destroy it with Solarbeam, Sceptile!"
Sceptile reared his head back and the yellow bulbs near his spine began to glow. The powerful Pokemon then opened his mouth and unleashed a blast of solar energy at the Electro Ball, and the grass type attack crashed through the ball before exploding when it hit Pikachu. The yellow Pokemon was launched in the air before he crashed against the ground, and the crowd began to roar while Sceptile gripped his side in pain.
"It's time to use Volt Tackle, Pikachu!" Red shouted, unaware of Owen's looming counterattack.
Pikachu nodded and dropped on all fours before sprinting across the battlefield. Suddenly, Pikachu was covered in electricity, and the Kantonian Pokemon began to run faster and faster while Sceptile put his arms over his head and grinned.
"Counter with Leaf Drill!" Owen shouted, reverting to a tactic he and Sceptile had leaned on so many times before.
Sceptile grinned as his arms began to glow green, and he started spinning. Similar to the electricity around Pikachu, a veil of green light encapsulated Sceptile, and he zipped towards his tiny opponent. The two Pokemon collided in the middle of the battlefield and electricity began to fly through the air along with green light.
Suddenly, a massive explosion occurred and both Pokemon were sent spiraling into the walls behind their trainers, and both Pokemon fell on the ground face first. Owen gasped in shock, however, when Pikachu stood up and snickered at Sceptile, who was passed out on the ground.
"Sceptile is unable to battle! Owen, choose your next Pokemon!"
"Shoot, Sceptile was so close!" Fate shouted before angrily sitting down in her seat while crossing her arms. "Even with the type advantage, Owen's got his work cut out for him."
"You can say that again. Sceptile dominated that battle, and he still fainted!" Eddy shouted while Owen withdrew the grass type, whose picture turned black.
"Awesome job, Sceptile. Take a long rest."
Owen took a deep breath and looked up from his Pokebelt while grabbing his second Pokeball.
"Gengar, I need your help!" Suddenly, Gengar broke out of her Pokeball and flew around before landing on the ground and glaring at Pikachu, who was covered in bruises.
"This battle will be between Gengar and Pikachu! Begin!"
"Start with Quick Attack to get in close, Pikachu!"
"Sucker Punch!" Owen screamed as soon as Pikachu began running while a white light trailed his body.
Gengar cackled before punching the air in front of her, and a bullet of black energy zipped across the battlefield before striking Pikachu and exploding on contact, sending the yellow rat flying in the air. Once he landed, Pikachu struggled to get on his feet, but he fought through the pain.
"Wow, that's one persistent Pokemon," Cindy muttered while glaring at the Pikachu, who was tracking Gengar's movements closely while the ghost flew around the arena.
"You can say that again. Sceptile got some huge hits in with Leaf Blade, Solarbeam, and Leaf Drill, but that Pikachu's still standing," Fate spat angrily as Gengar landed on the ground and stood in front of Owen.
"Use Thunderbolt, Pikachu!"
Pikachu hopped in the air while he was enveloped in yellow electricity, and then a zigzagging bolt was fired at Gengar. Despite the speed of the electric type attack, Owen was able to counter with ease.
"Dodge it and fight back with Shadow Ball, Gengar!"
Gengar quickly took to the air and dodged the powerful blast of electricity, and she put her hands together while firing several balls of dark energy at her pesky opponent. Somehow, Pikachu managed to dodge every single Shadow Ball, prompting Gengar to unleash another flurry.
"Send Shadow Ball right back with Iron Tail!" Red commanded aggressively, seeing an opening.
Pikachu's tail was suddenly covered in shiny iron, and he whacked the nearest Shadow Ball as hard as he could. Owen and his friends gasped as Gengar was clobbered by the super effective attack, and she fell on the ground, letting out a pained grunt before she got back on her feet.
"Hang in there, Gengar! Unleash a Shadow Punch barrage!" Owen demanded while punching his right fist straight out.
Gengar grinned before firing dozens of Shadow Punch attacks at Pikachu, who began to run around the battlefield in an attempt to evade the powerful attacks. Much to his and Red's dismay, each Shadow Punch landed and chipped away at the speedy Pokemon's health.
"Quickly, use Countershield, Pikachu!" Red shouted as the Shadow Punch attacks continued to fly in.
Without a second to waste, Pikachu dropped on his back and began spinning while releasing a wicked Thunderbolt attack. Owen nearly fell down in shock as Pikachu's Countershield managed to destroy all of the Shadow Punch attacks, and the rodent grinned arrogantly as he stood on all fours.
Damnit, he copied our technique! This guy's something else, but we're not backing down! Owen thought to himself before he heard Red's voice crack through the air.
"Finish this with Volt Tackle, Pikachu!"
Pikachu grinned before charging towards Gengar while he was encapsulated in yellow electricity, and the crowd started to cheer for the rodent as he closed in on Gengar, who was waiting for Owen's counterattack.
"Gengar, use Shadow Punch and stop Pikachu dead in his tracks!" Owen commanded tactically, knowing Shadow Punch wasn't able to miss its target.
With a wicked punch forward, Gengar sent a shadowy fist at Pikachu, and it demolished the electric type, sending him bouncing across the battlefield. Once he stopped a few feet in front of Red, Pikachu's eyes were closed, and the referee raised his arms in the air.
"Pikachu is unable to battle! Red, choose your next Pokemon!"
"Way to go, Gengar!" Owen cheered while the ghost type snickered confidently. While she continued to snicker, Gengar watched as Pikachu's picture turned black, and she prepared herself for her next opponent.
"Thanks, Pikachu, for the excellent effort."
Red smiled while he withdrew his fainted Pokemon, and he slowly grabbed a second with a grin growing on his face. Owen and Gengar continued to wait for him to release his next Pokemon, prompting the World Champion to toss his second Pokeball.
"Blastoise, it's your time to battle!"
In a flash of light, a Blastoise appeared on Red's half of the battlefield, and it stared Gengar down while its picture appeared on the scoreboard.
"Wow, that thing looks even stronger than Red's Pikachu!" Cindy shouted while the water type shot blasts of water out of the cannons on its back.
"That's because it is," Brooklyn told the younger girl. "Owen did way too much research on this so now I know all of Red's Pokemon, but that's beside the point. Apparently Blastoise is Red's second strongest, or close to it. If Gengar can just do enough damage to wear it down, Owen has a chance."
"This battle will be between Gengar and Blastoise! Begin!"
"Let's start this off with Mean Look, Gengar!" Owen commanded, wanting to take advantage of the momentum.
Gengar nodded and her eyes flashed red as she made eye contact with Blastoise. Suddenly, a ring appeared around the water starter before disappearing, which prevented Red from withdrawing the large turtle. Red, however, didn't seem fazed in the slightest.
"Let's use Hydro Spin, Blastoise!" Red shouted with a grin.
Owen scowled and remembered the technique vividly. Roland had used that against him during the Silver Conference, and it was more than effective throughout the entire tournament. Despite his familiarity with the technique, Owen was unable to think of a counterattack, and Gengar was crushed by the Rapid Spin/Hydro Pump combination, which sent her flying into the wall behind Owen.
"Hang in there, Gengar! Crush 'em with Dark Pulse!"
Gengar nodded and threw her arms forward, sending a spiraling ray of black and purple energy at Blastoise. Much to Owen's dismay, Blastoise simply retracted his head and limbs into his shell, and the Dark Pulse missed its target. Blastoise then reappeared from his shell and snickered at Owen and Gengar, the latter of whom zipped forwards angrily.
"Wait for Gengar to come in close and then use Bite," Red whispered to Blastoise, who was somehow able to hear his trainer over the cheering crowd.
As Gengar reared her fist back in an attempt to strike Blastoise, the water type lunged forward and snapped his jaw around her arm, causing Gengar to scream in pain while trying to break out of Blastoise's grip.
"Calm down, Gengar! Use Confuse Ray!" Owen shouted, capitalizing on the opportunity that had been presented.
Once Gengar's attack worked, Red cursed under his breath due to Blastoise letting go of the dark type, who shook her aching arm around before landing on the ground in front of her trainer. Blastoise, meanwhile, smirked at the injured Pokemon devilishly before Red's voice echoed in his ears.
"Fire a Hydro Pump on the ground so you can fly!" Red commanded.
Owen and Gengar watched in awe as Blastoise's cannons pointed towards the ground and released two wicked blasts of water. The water type was then sent flying through the air as if he were wearing a jetpack, and Gengar took to the sky to keep from getting his by the Hydro Pump.
"Use Bite on Gengar again!"
Red frowned when Blastoise began punching himself in the face due to confusion, giving Owen and Gengar the perfect opportunity to strike.
"Send Blastoise into the ground with Shadow Ball!" Owen yelled.
Gengar happily obliged and put her hands together while a large ball of purple and black energy formed. It was then fired at Blastoise, who was struck and fell towards the ground. As soon as he landed, the ground cracked underneath Blastoise's weight, and the crowd cheered for Gengar as she pursued Blastoise to continue her assault.
"Ice Beam!"
Much to Owen's surprise, a zigzagging beam of light blue energy was fired from Blastoise's cannons, and Gengar was struck by the freezing attack. Owen watched as Gengar landed on her back and slowly got up, still holding her back in pain while Blastoise motioned for her to charge, which made the ghost scowl before flying forward.
"Night Shade!" Owen screamed over the cheering crowd.
Gengar attempted to place her hands together, but she quickly fell on the ground and held her back while Blastoise shook his head in disgust. Red, meanwhile, scolded his Pokemon before pointing at Gengar and issuing another command.
"Blastoise, use Hydro Pump on the ground and fly right above Gengar!"
Blastoise grinned as he flew into the air, pinning Gengar against the ground while she was hit by the Hydro Pump attack. "Now stop!" Suddenly, Blastoise's cannons stopped releasing water, and the large turtle started to free-fall, making everyone on the bench stand up in shock.
"He's trying to crush Gengar!" Brooklyn shouted while rocking Molly in her arms.
The others stared in silence as Blastoise began to pick up speed, and he retracted his limbs inside his shell.
"Gengar, get out of there!"
The order was futile, however, as Gengar continued to hold her back, crying in pain. In the blink of an eye, Blastoise crashed down on Gengar and a large cloud of dust shot into the air, preventing anyone from seeing the result of the brilliant attack. Once the dust settled, the crowd exploded when Blastoise walked towards Red triumphantly, and Gengar was unconscious.
"Gengar is unable to battle! Owen, choose your next Pokemon!" the referee shouted while Gengar's picture turned black, making Owen bite his bottom lip before he withdrew his fainted Pokemon.
"Great work out there, Gengar," he said as he zapped the ghost type back into her Pokeball.
The teen slowly looked down at his third Pokeball, which was in his hand, and he grinned before throwing it in the air.
"Zangoose, let's do this!"
Zangoose quickly leaped out of the Pokeball and landed on his feet before crossing his arms over his chest, glaring at Blastoise with his good eye. The water type shuddered at the sight of Zangoose's scar, but Red decided to leave the fully evolved starter in the battle, which made Owen smirk confidently.
"So is he using his Pokemon in order of strength?" Cindy asked Fate and CJ, who had known Owen the longest. The two glanced at each other and shrugged in unison before turning back to the battle.
"It looks like that, but I don't think the difference in strength is that big, except for Charizard," Fate answered, trying to think of the six Pokemon Owen was using. "We've also never seen Garchomp battle in person, so we can't really answer."
Cindy nodded at the older girl and focused on the scoreboard, which displayed Zangoose's picture.
"This battle will be between Zangoose and Blastoise! Begin!"
"Blastoise, use Rapid Spin and Ice Beam!" Red shouted, trying to build off Roland's Hydro Spin.
Blastoise quickly retracted his limbs and took off towards Zangoose while spinning. Suddenly, five beams of icy energy flew towards Zangoose, and the normal type looked back at Owen and nodded at his trainer, who pointed at the ground.
"Block it with Countershield, Zangoose!" Owen barked.
In nanoseconds, Zangoose fell on his back and started to spin while using Thunderbolt. The whiplike action of the bolts of electricity blocked the several rays of ice, but when Zangoose finished, Blastoise was still spinning towards him.
"Perfect, Blastoise! Now use Skull Bash!"
Blastoise's limbs quickly shot out of his shell and the water starter pointed his head at Zangoose while being encapsulated in shining white energy. Owen and Zangoose couldn't help but smirk, as they both thought of the same counterattack, which was guaranteed to send Blastoise across the battlefield.
"Not on our watch! Crush Claw!"
Zangoose's claws suddenly began to glow bright blue, and he launched his right arm forward, causing the two attacks to collide. After a few seconds of battling back and forth, the attacks were cancelled. While Red breathed a sigh of relief, he tensed up when he realized Zangoose's other set of claws were still glowing, and the normal type delivered a vicious slash to Blastoise's chest, launching the water type into the wall behind Red.
"Blastoise, return!" Red called while zapping the severely injured and fatigued Pokemon back into his Pokeball.
While doing that, Blastoise's picture turned blue, and the scoreboard focused on the spot below the water type.
"Venusaur I need your help!" Red then released his Venusaur from his Pokeball, and the grass type roared powerfully before locking eyes with Zangoose.
"Hmm... I wonder what Owen's going to do now that he's got Red on the defensive," Daniel muttered as Owen appeared to be looking down at his belt, almost as if he was listening to everyone's comments and questions.
"Knowing him, he's going to stick it out with Zangoose, which isn't a bad idea considering the fact that he almost knocked Blastoise out in one hit," CJ opined before glancing over at Brooklyn and Molly.
The young mother was eyeing the battlefield intently, and so was the infant in her arms, surprisingly. CJ laughed to himself at the sight, thinking, That's definitely Owen's daughter.
"This battle will be between Zangoose and Venusaur! Begin!"
"Start off with Swords Dance, Zangoose!" Owen commanded, wanting to up Zangoose's attack to ridiculous levels.
The normal type then ran across the battlefield after a red ring spun around him, and he leaped in the air while Venusaur remained stationary. "Land another Crush Claw!" Both sets of claws on Zangoose's hands started to glow blue, and he reared his arms back in an attempt to slash his foe, but Red was quick to counter.
"Grab Zangoose's arms with Vine Whip and then use Razor Leaf!"
Before Owen could react, Zangoose was stopped dead in his tracks by Venusaur's two vines, which wrapped around his arms. While he struggled to break free, Zangoose was slashed by the dozens of leaves Venusaur fired from his back, and Owen's mind began to race before he figured out a way Zangoose could escape.
"Don't hold anything back, Zangoose! Use Thunderbolt!"
Red cursed under his breath as Zangoose zapped Venusaur so powerfully the grass type lost his grip. After he landed on the ground, Zangoose darted back to Owen's half of the battlefield, panting slightly. "Let's use Hyper Beam!" While Venusaur recovered from the wicked Thunderbolt attack, Zangoose reared his head back and unleashed a blast of orange energy. Red frowned as Venusaur slowly stood up after being engulfed by the attack, but he noticed Zangoose drop to one knee in exhaustion, giving him the perfect chance to strike.
"Now's our chance, Venusaur! Use Sunny Day and Leech Seed!"
Somehow, Venusaur managed to use both attacks at the same time, as he fired a small seed out of his mouth and shot a ball of fire out of the flower on his back. While the ball exploded and lit up the night sky, the tiny seed hit Zangoose and wrapped around his body. The normal type was then zapped in a red light, making him cry out in pain.
"Zangoose, use Quick Attack and crash into Venusaur at full speed!"
Zangoose suddenly snapped out of his pain and sprinted towards Venusaur while white light trailed his body but Red and Venusaur were more than capable of countering due to the Leech Seed slowing Zangoose down.
"Intercept with Take Down!"
Venusaur roared in approval of the attack before he charged forward, and white streaks of light flew off his face. The larger Pokemon easily overpowered Zangoose and sent him skidding across the battlefield in pain, but Venusaur winced at the recoil damage he took. Owen, however, wasn't paying any attention to the Kanto starter, opting to focus on Zangoose.
"Damnit, I didn't know his Venusaur was able to use that!" Owen shouted at himself before regaining his composure. "Zangoose, use Swords Dance and slash those vines around your body with Crush Claw!"
After a red ring of energy spiraled around his body and disappeared, Zangoose grinned while his claws started to glow blue. He then slashed the vines with ease and smirked at Venusaur, who seemed to be impressed by the teamwork of his opponents.
"Use Seed Bomb, Venusaur!"
In a matter of seconds, Venusaur shot a ball of white energy from the flower on his back, and it headed towards Zangoose, who glanced back at Owen, waiting for a command. The fifteen year old was quick to react, and he cleared his throat before punching his right arm straight forward.
"Dodge it with Quick Attack and then use Giga Impact!"
Zangoose dropped on all fours before sprinting underneath the Seed Bomb attack, barely dodging it while the attack exploded on the ground. Zangoose then leaped forward and was engulfed in purple energy with orange streaks of light spiraling around. While Zangoose closed in on Venusaur, Red cracked his knuckles and looked at his Pokemon.
"Stop him in his tracks with Frenzy Plant!"
Venusaur quickly leaned back on his hind feet, and then he slammed his front two on the ground, causing massive vines to shoot out of the ground. Zangoose's attack was stopped instantly when several of the vines smacked him powerfully, and he was sent bouncing across the battlefield before stopping just in front of Owen.
"Zangoose is unable to battle! Owen, choose your next Pokemon!"
Zangoose's picture turned black and the scoreboard focused on the fourth spot next to Owen's picture, and so did the crowd.
"Oh man, this is starting to slip away from Owen," Fate muttered while bringing her hands up to her face. "What's he going to do? What can he do?"
"Calm down," Brooklyn ordered, drawing everyone's attention. "He still has three Pokemon, so you can't count him out yet."
"Zangoose, you were awesome out there,"
Owen whispered to the normal type as he was withdrawn. Without thinking, Owen grabbed his fourth Pokeball and hurled it in the air, all while grinning confidently.
"Heatmor, let's spark a comeback!"
Once the Pokeball reached its max height, Heatmor shot out and landed on the ground with an eager look on his face. The entire stadium then shifted its attention to Red and his Venusaur, who everyone assumed would be withdrawn. The champion shocked many, however, when he opted to stick with his guns while Heatmor's picture appeared on the scoreboard beneath Zangoose's.
"This battle will be between Heatmor and Venusaur! Begin!"
"Start this off by using Flamethrower on the ground!" Owen yelled while pointing at the ground.
Heatmor happily obliged and unleashed a wicked wave of fire straight down. The battlefield was quickly covered in fire and the anteater marveled at his work while Venusaur began jumping around in an attempt to keep himself from getting burnt.
"Wow, that was smart," Red muttered as he looked at Owen. He then turned his attention back to Venusaur, who was moving around uncomfortably on the incredibly hot battlefield. "Counter with Razor Leaf!"
As Venusaur jumped, he sent a flurry of leaves at Heatmor, who sprinted forward aggressively, not wanting to back down from his opponent.
"Destroy all of the leaves with Shadow Claw! Then follow it up with Flame Wheel!"
Heatmor's claws extended while they were covered in black energy, and he furiously slashed the grass type attack. After making his way through the hazardous move, Heatmor began to spin like a wheel before covering himself in fire, and he crashed into Venusaur, sending the gras type skidding backwards while he roared in pain.
"Stand strong, Venusaur! Solarbeam!"
Venusaur obeyed his trainer's commands and opened his mouth, firing a ray of solar energy across the battlefield towards Heatmor, but the fire type and his trainer weren't intimidated by the powerful attack.
"Match them with Flamethrower!" Owen countered, realizing that Sunny Day was still in effect, which would strengthen Heatmor's fire type attacks.
Heatmor wasted no time in unleashing a wave of fire that collided with Venusaur's Solarbeam. The two attacks exploded instantly, and a cloud of smoke filled the air, preventing both trainers from seeing the opposing Pokemon.
"Keep your eyes peeled, Venusaur. Heatmor could be anywhere right now," Red whispered to his Pokemon, who nodded before looking from side to side frantically. The two were caught off guard, however, when they heard Heatmor screaming.
"HEEE!"
Suddenly, a column of fire shot out of the ground an incinerated Venusaur, who cried out in pain before falling on his face. Red slowly tipped his cap - literally - as the smoke cleared, but he turned his attention back to his ailing Pokemon, who had managed to stand back up. Much to Red's surprise, Heatmor charged forwards without Owen's command at a surprising speed that seemed to match Sceptile's, which impressed the World Champion.
"Slap Heatmor away with Vine Whip!"
Despite being incredibly fatigued, two vines shot out of Venusaur's back, and they flew towards Heatmor, who was closing in at a breakneck pace.
"It's time to show off our new technique, Heatmor!" Owen shouted to the fire type, who nodded in agreement while dodging several attempted Vine Whip attacks. "Use Flame Whip!"
Heatmor grinned as he leaped into the air and dodged both vines, and then he channeled all of his energy into his claws. Six whips of fire then extended from Heatmor's claws, and the fire type began to smack Venusaur savagely, making the grass and poison type cry out in pain. Red gasped in awe as Heatmor continued to use his incredible technique, but he snapped out of his thoughts.
"Stop Heatmor by using Take Down!"
Venusaur roared before trudging across the battlefield as Heatmor landed on the ground, and the fire type bent his knees, readying himself for a counterattack. Red, who was grinning, gasped in shock when he heard Owen's command, which would've taken any other trainer a day to think of.
"Grab Venusaur with your whips and then throw him in the air!"
Heatmor used his fire whips once again and grabbed Venusaur with them. With a quick flick of his wrists, Heatmor sent his opponent flying into the air, and he jumped as high as he could, easily clearing Venusaur's altitude.
"Wrap this up with Flame Wheel!"
The anteater then began to spin like a wheel while he wrapped himself in fire, and he struck Venusaur. The two Pokemon quickly crashed into the ground like a meteor, and the entire stadium began to shake while a blast of fire shot into the air. Heatmor then ran back to Owen and cheered while Venusaur was lying on the ground with his eyes shut tight.
"Venusaur is unable to battle! Red, choose your next Pokemon!" the ref barked while Venusaur's picture turned black.
"Well done, Venusaur. You stood your ground against a really strong opponent."
Red then withdrew the Kanto starter and clipped Venusaur's Pokeball on his belt before grabbing another spherical device. "It's time to change the tide of battle. Snorlax, you're up!"
Owen and Heatmor stared as the sleepy, enormous normal type appeared in front of Red and roared while pounding his chest. Slowly, Owen looked down at Heatmor before taking the fire type's Pokeball off his belt.
"Heatmor, come back."
The fire type nodded and was zapped back into his Pokeball while his picture turned blue, and Owen took a deep breath before smiling, which confused Red and Owen's friends.
"Heatmor was doing so well, why did Owen take him out?" Eddy quizzed curiously.
"Beats me. I think all this pressure finally got to Owen, and now he's going crazy," Cindy joked while shaking her head at the sixteen year old's decision.
"When you see who he sends out, you'll know exactly why he did that," Brooklyn informed the younger kids. Molly giggled while Eddy and Cindy gave Brooklyn looks of stupidity, and Fate and CJ laughed at the sequence.
"Garchomp, show 'em your strength!"
Before he could throw the capsule, Owen screamed in shock as Garchomp exploded from his Pokeball and landed on the ground. The dragon type looked back at his trainer after seeing Snorlax, and he bowed , roaring at a deafening pitch that shook the ground slightly, he pointed at his enormous foe, drawing a smug grin from Snorlax.
The scoreboard then displayed Garchomp's picture in the fifth spot of Owen's team, and the crowd cheered for him.
"Oh, I get it! Owen's trying to use Garchomp's hatred of Snorlax as an advantage!" Eddy exclaimed, which Brooklyn nodded at before smiling at the dragon and ground type. Snorlax, meanwhile, yawned and waved Garchomp off, enraging the already angry Pokemon.
"This battle will be between Garchomp and Snorlax! Begin!"
"Start this off with Dragon Rush!" Owen commanded, wanting to start the battle at a frenetic pace.
Before Red or his Snorlax could react, Garchomp hopped in the air, roared, and was surrounded in bright blue energy that took the shape of a dragon. Owen's Sinnoh powerhouse then flew across the battlefield at the speed of light and slammed into Snorlax, but the normal type didn't seem fazed by the attack.
"Snorlax, use Headbutt now!" Red shouted while Garchomp was standing right in front of the normal type.
Snorlax quickly lunged forward and slammed his head against Garchomp's sending the dragon type tumbling back to the middle of the battlefield. Once Garchomp stood up he began rubbing his aching head, but stopped when Snorlax began to mock him for doing so.
"Use Earthquake to get Snorlax off the ground, Garchomp!"
Garchomp quickly slammed his fist against the ground and a pillar of dirt shot up from underneath Snorlax. The fat normal type looked incredibly uncomfortable as he tried to maintain his balance on the small pillar, and Garchomp cracked his neck before walking away from the base of the dirt. "Now fire a Stone Edge!"
"Don't give in, Snorlax!" Red shouted to the walking tank as Garchomp sent dozens of sharp stones towards Snorlax.
The normal type grunted lowly as each of the rocks scraped his stomach until he ultimately fell off the pillar, which was exactly what Owen wanted to happen.
"Now crush 'em with Giga Impact!"
Garchomp sprinted forward at the speed of a jet before flying, and he was suddenly encapsulated in purple energy with orange streaks of light spiraling around his body. The dragon type then slammed into Snorlax just before the colossal Pokemon could hit the ground, and he was sent flying into the wall behind Red. Upon landing, Garchomp dropped to one knee and began panting heavily due to the amount of energy he had put into the wicked attack.
"Snorlax, hurry and pin Garchomp with Body Slam!" Red shouted to the injured Pokemon.
Snorlax slowly got back on his feet and trudged forward before falling down on Garchomp, who attempted to get away. Owen flinched at the painful sound that rang in his ears, and he watched as Garchomp struggled to get out from underneath Snorlax, who simply laid on the powerful dragon type.
Come on, Owen, think! How can I get Garchomp out of there... that's it! Owen thought to himself before grinning.
"Garchomp, use Draco Meteor!"
Red's eyes shot wide open upon hearing the attack, and he watched as Garchomp was covered in a light coat of orange energy.
"Snorlax, you have to get off Garchomp now!" the nineteen year old screamed to the fat Pokemon.
Snorlax, however, was too slow to get up in time, and he was sent flying into the air thanks to a large ball of orange energy. The attack then exploded and broke apart, sending Snorlax spiraling into the ground. The stadium then shook violently, and Garchomp laughed at his opponent, who was covered in bruises.
"Stay focused, Garchomp! Use Dig!"
Garchomp nodded at his trainer's words and burrowed underground in an instant while Snorlax continued to try and push himself onto his feet. Gravity, however, made it difficult for the monstrous Pokemon to stand.
"Snorlax, get up and use Hyper Beam into the hole!"
With one violent push against the ground, Snorlax stood on his feet, and he charged a Hyper Beam while Garchomp remained underground. Just before he could use the powerful attack, Snorlax looked down and was shocked to see Garchomp. The dragon type quickly delivered a violent uppercut that launched Snorlax into the air, and the normal type landed on his back, making him immobile.
"Garchomp, let's finish this thing!" Owen shouted to the powerful Pokemon.
Garchomp turned around and gave Owen a thumbs up before he hopped in the air directly above Snorlax, who was barely conscious.
"Dodge, Snorlax!" Red cried in desperation.
The normal type didn't respond, however, and attempted to stand up, unaware of Garchomp's presence. Snorlax wasn't able to stand, though, which provided Garchomp the perfect opportunity to end the battle.
"Giga Impact!"
The dragon, who was about twenty feet in the air, dropped down towards Snorlax like a missile, and he started to roar. Suddenly, Garchomp was covered in a ball of purple energy with orange streaks of energy twisting around it, and he smashed into Snorlax, cracking the battlefield and knocking the bulky Pokemon out cold.
"Snorlax is unable to battle! Red, choose your next Pokemon!" the referee announced as Garchomp slowly made his way to Owen's side, limping the entire way.
Owen patted his Pokemon on the head for his incredible efforts, but stopped when he noticed how exhausted Garchomp was.
"Wahoo! He tied it up!" Daniel exclaimed. "But Red still has two water types, and Lapras has a type advantage against all of Owen's Pokemon," the seventeen year old said while hanging his head.
"That's fine. Lapras doesn't have a resistance to fire types, and Garchomp's strong enough to deal some hefty damage," CJ stated. "Then again, he could get knocked out in one hit."
"Type advantages don't decide the battle. Remember, Sceptile lost to Red's Pikachu," Fate said to Daniel, who whipped his neck up with a smile. "And this is Owen we're talking about. He's definitely got something up his sleeve."
"Thanks for the hard-fought battle, Snorlax. You did exactly what I wanted you to," Red stated while withdrawing his bulky Pokemon. He quickly glanced at Garchomp and saw the dragon type was breathing heavily, as one would after such a long battle, and he smirked before throwing his next Pokeball.
"Lapras, make your appearance!"
Garchomp turned and glared at the large water and ice type, but Owen stopped him before he could walk out to the battlefield.
"Can you keep going?" the sixteen year old asked in concern while looking at all of the bruises Garchomp had.
The fatigued dragon waved his trainer off confidently and walked forwards, refusing to give in as he locked eyes with Lapras. The powerful water type simply looked down at her opponent and maintained a calm demeanor, not wanting her emotions to effect her battling.
"This battle will be between Garchomp and Lapras! Begin!"
"Start with Stone Edge, Garchomp!" Owen commanded.
Garchomp quickly threw his arms forward and several dozen sharp stones flew towards Lapras, who didn't look like she was planning on moving.
"Counter by using Water Pulse on the ground, Lapras!"
Lapras formed a ball of water in her mouth and fired it at the ground, causing a wave of water to shoot into the air and block all of the stones. It then swept Garchomp back to Owen, and the dragon appeared to be struggling to stand. Despite this, Garchomp pushed through the pain and rose to his feet while roaring, which made Owen smile.
"Hang in there, Garchomp! Use Dig!"
"Perfect," Red started, grinning as soon as Garchomp burrowed underground. "Lapras, cover the field in ice and then flood the hole with Hydro Pump!"
Lapras quickly fired a zigzagging beam of light blue energy that covered the entire battlefield in ice, except the hole Garchomp created. Owen scratched his head in confusion at the tactic Red had just used, but he quickly realized what the champion had done by freezing the battlefield. Garchomp was supposed to resurface and uppercut Lapras almost right after Red's command, yet he hadn't made a sound since. Owen snapped out of his thoughts when Lapras managed to fill the hole Garchomp dug with a Hydro Pump attack.
"Smash through the ground with Giga Impact!" Owen screamed.
Despite the volume of Owen's voice, Garchomp was unable to hear the teen due to being in water, which completely blocked all noise. Suddenly, Garchomp resurfaced and he was panting furiously. The dragon and ground type quickly turned to glare at Lapras, and he attempted to hop out of the water.
"Use Hydro Pump again, Lapras!"
As Garchomp got out of the water, he was blasted past Owen and pinned against the wall by a high-pressured blast of dark blue water. Lapras continued to use Hydro Pump, and Garchomp began to roar angrily. While looking at his Pokemon, Owen could feel the anger building in Garchomp, and he knew just how to counter.
"Garchomp, rock 'em with a Dragon Rush!"
Without hesitation, Garchomp was covered in blue energy and he roared before flying past the Hydro Pump. The Sinnoh Pokemon quickly descended and crashed into Lapras, sending the ice type skidding back to Red.
"Way to go, Garchomp!" Owen cheered as the aforementioned Pokemon landed just in front of him.
"Lapras, use several Water Pulse attacks on the ground to create a tidal wave!"
"Use Earthquake to shatter the ice and send you in the air!" Owen countered immediately after Red.
Garchomp roared powerfully and he punched the ground as hard as he could. The entire stadium shook and the ice was cracked before a pillar of dirt shot out of the ground and lifted Garchomp into the air, well above the Water Pulse attacks. Much to Owen and Garchomp's surprise, Lapras was riding on the wave and she began to make it taller by adding even more Water Pulse attacks.
"Use Body Slam and knock Garchomp off!" Red screamed while punching his fists in the air.
Garchomp was too slow to react to the attack, and Lapras leaped off the crashing wave. Owen could only watch as Garchomp was caught underneath Lapras, and the two crashed towards the ground. Once they landed, a loud thud echoed through the air, and Lapras got off her opponent, who was down for the count.
"Garchomp is unable to battle! Owen, choose your next Pokemon!"
Everyone in the stadium watched as Garchomp's picture turned black, and they applauded the dragon's efforts, and so did Red.
"You were amazing as usual; thank you," Owen said sincerely while withdrawing the fainted dragon. He then glanced up at the scoreboard and saw that Red still had three Pokemon remaining, one of which had yet to make an appearance.
"Oh man. Garchomp gave that everything he had, I feel so bad for him," Cindy said, sympathizing with the fainted powerhouse.
Even though Red had the numbers, Owen felt confident in his remaining fire types before throwing out another Pokeball.
"Heatmor, rock and roll!" he boomed while releasing Heatmor from his Pokeball. The anteater landed on the ground energetically and his picture returned to its normal color before the referee raised his arms in the air.
"This battle will be between Heatmor and Lapras! Begin!"
"Use Water Pulse on the ground, Lapras!" Red shouted, refusing to move on from the strategy until Owen proved he could overcome it.
Lapras slowly leaned her head back while she formed a ball of water in front of her mouth, and then she fired it at the ground, causing a wave to sweep across the battlefield.
"Heatmor, use Flame Wheel and go right at the water!" Owen countered, drawing confused reactions from the crowd and his friends.
Heatmor, however didn't doubt his trainer, and he covered himself in fire before spinning towards the middle of the battlefield at a breakneck pace.
"Is he crazy!? There's no way Heatmor can plow through that!" Eddy screamed as Heatmor and the water were about to collide.
"Jump!" Owen bellowed while pointing to the sky.
Everyone in attendance gasped when Heatmor leaped over the wave of water, and he slammed into Lapras, knocking the bulky Pokemon onto her side. Heatmor quickly retreated back to Owen's half of the battlefield and grinned when Lapras slowly got back up with a pained expression on her face.
"Way to hang in there, Lapras! Fight back with Aqua Jet!"
Lapras screeched before she was encapsulated in light blue water, and she took to the air, making Owen gasp. In the blink of an eye, the larger Pokemon had slammed Heatmor into the wall behind his trainer, and Lapras returned to Red's half of the battlefield, panting heavily once she landed on the ground.
"Hey, are you okay?" Owen asked the anteater, who made his way back onto the battlefield.
Heatmor nodded in response with determined look in his eyes, making Owen smile before he pointed at Lapras.
"Okay, get in close and use Shadow Claw!"
Heatmor bolted towards Lapras at a ridiculous speed that very few trainers had ever seen, and the fire type hopped in the air while his claws started to glow black.
"Use Ice Beam on the ground and create a shield!"
While Lapras created a small pillar of ice right in front of her, Heatmor reared his arms back before launching them forward. The ghost type attack failed, however, and Heatmor retreated to Owen's half of the battlefield once again before looking back at his trainer and waiting for a command.
"Burn it with Fire Whip!"
Heatmor nodded and closed his eyes while channeling all of his energy to his claws, and several whips of fire formed on the ends of his hands. Red frowned when Heatmor's whips shattered the ice and slapped Lapras harshly, making the water and ice type cry out in pain. As the attack continued, an idea popped in Red's head, and he cleared his throat before shouting to his Pokemon.
"Blow him back with Hydro Pump!"
Lapras' eyes shot wide open as she turned and unleashed a blast of high-pressured water, which struck Heatmor and sent him skidding across the battlefield. Even though he had suffered a massive amount of damage, Heatmor willed himself to stand up once again, not wanting to disappoint his trainer.
"Answer right back with Fire Pledge!"
Before Red could do anything, Heatmor slammed his fist on the ground and a pillar of fire shot out of the ground and engulfed Lapras. The water type cried in pain until the attack ceased, and the crowd began screaming for the two exhausted Pokemon, who looked ready to end their battle once and for all.
"Lapras, Hydro Pump!"
"Don't back down, Heatmor! Inferno!"
Lapras and Heatmor both reared their heads back at the same time before unleashing their attacks. A dark blue blast of high-pressured water flew out of Lapras' mouth while a scorching blue wave of fire escaped from Heatmor's mouth. The two attacks missed each other and instead hit the other Pokemon, sending them flying across the battlefield. Once they hit the ground, the referee looked at both motionless Pokemon and raised his arms in the air swiftly.
"Both Pokemon are unable to battle! Owen, choose your final Pokemon! Red, choose your next Pokemon!"
"Oh no," CJ muttered under his breath while Heatmor and Lapras' pictures turned black. "It looks like it's all up to Charizard."
"Heatmor was so awesome out there. It sucks that he couldn't have faced Blastoise. He definitely would've won that," Fate opined while nodding at her own words.
"Even so, Charizard's going to wipe the floor with Blastoise. Book it," Brooklyn proclaimed.
"Great job, Lapras, you deserve a long rest."
The champion took a deep breath and tossed another Pokeball in the air without hesitation.
"Blastoise, you're up again!"
Owen scowled as the obnoxious water type took the field once again, and it began to taunt Owen, who didn't react.
"Heatmor, that was incredible. Thank you so much," the teen said while smiling as he withdrew his fainted Pokemon.
Owen stopped smiling as he clipped Heatmor's Pokeball onto his belt, and he removed the final ball. Instead of throwing it, he held the device in his hand and looked at it with a straight face, masking his emotions.
It's all up to you, just like you wanted. There's no way we're losing now!
"Charizard, come on out!" the sixteen year old screamed while throwing his final Pokeball.
In a flash of light, Charizard flew out of his Pokeball and circled the battlefield before landing in front of Owen. The powerful fire type subtly glanced at the scoreboard to see if Red's Charizard had appeared, and he was glad that he hadn't. He frowned, however, when he made eye contact with Red's Blastoise. The crowd continued to cheer as Charizard's picture occupied the sixth and final spot next to Owen's, and the lizard released embers from his nostrils.
"This battle will be between Charizard and Blastoise! Begin!"
"Aerial Ace!" Owen screamed as he punched his fist forward.
Red and Blastoise were caught off guard by Charizard's blistering speed, and the winged lizard slammed into Blastoise while white streaks of light flew off his face. The fire type then landed on the ground in front of Owen and stomped powerfully. Blastoise slowly got back on his feet and smirked at Charizard until Red's voice cut through the air.
"Hydro Spin, Blastoise!"
Blastoise retracted his limbs and head into his shell before spinning towards Charizard. Five blasts of water suddenly shot out of the holes in the shell, and Charizard was whacked by one of them, knocking him onto his side.
"Take to the sky, Charizard, and then use Thunder Punch when you have an opening!"
Charizard suddenly shot into the air and managed to avoid further damage from the absurdly powerful attack. While Blastoise continued spinning around, Charizard tracked the water type's movements until he performed a nosedive. The winged lizard's hand was suddenly covered in bright, yellow electricity, and he threw his fist at Blastoise when his limbs reappeared. Without any time to react, Blastoise was punched in the face by the super effective attack, but he managed to grab Charizard's arm before biting it, making the fire type roar angrily.
"Use Hydro Pump at full power, Blastoise!"
Owen bit his bottom lip as Charizard was crushed by the super effective water type attack, but he managed to stay on his feet the entire time he skidded back to Owen's half of the battlefield.
"Way to go, Charizard! Use Flamethrower on the ground!"
Charizard opened his mouth immediately after his trainer's words, and the battlefield was covered in flames, making Blastoise jump up and down just like Red's Venusaur had done against Heatmor. "Now use a spinning Aerial Ace!" Charizard roared before he started spinning like a drill, causing the white streaks of light from his face to cover his body.
"Stop Charizard by using Skull Bash!"
Blastoise quickly lowered his head and lunged forward, and the two attacks collided. After battling back and forth, an explosion of force sent both Pokemon flying in opposite directions. Blastoise was unlucky, however, as he landed on his back on the scorching hot battlefield. Charizard, on the other hand, was able to remain in the air thanks to his wings.
"Use Flamethrower on Blastoise's stomach!" Owen commanded, remembering Zangoose's scratch marks were still present.
With excellent aim, Charizard released a wave of fire and hit his target, who screamed in pain. Charizard scoffed at his opponent, who continued to try and get back on his feet, but his proportions didn't allow him to.
"Blastoise, use Rapid Spin so you can get back on your feet!" Red yelled.
Blastoise suddenly began to spin at a blinding speed, and he slowly started to float in the air. As soon as that happened, a light flashed in Owen's head, and he pointed at the water starter.
"Grab Blastoise while he's still in the air and then use Seismic Toss!"
Charizard zipped across the battlefield as fast as he possibly could, and he grabbed Blastoise by his hands. Charizard then shot straight into the air and Blastoise's limbs reappeared.
"Blastoise, try and bite Charizard!" Red shouted.
As soon as he did, Charizard turned back towards the ground, and Blastoise's attempted bite failed miserably. The two Pokemon then sped towards the ground and Charizard waited for Owen to give him the okay.
"Do it!" the sixteen year old shrieked.
Charizard roared just as loudly before he hurled Blastoise as hard as he possibly could. Blastoise was unable to do anything to lessen the force of the impact, and he landed on his head, knocking him out instantly. The crowd went absolutely insane as the referee stepped forwards, and he raised his arms in the air while Blastoise's picture turned black.
"Blastoise is unable to battle! Red, choose your final Pokemon!"
"There we go!" Owen screamed as Charizard walked back to his side. The two then hugged quickly, and Charizard pulled away before looking into the air and roaring powerfully.
"AAAAGGGH!" he bellowed emotionally while Red withdrew his Blastoise back to its Pokeball.
"Alright! Way to go, Charizard!" Fate and CJ screamed in unison while jumping up and down while hugging each other.
"Keep it up, Charizard!" Eddy and Cindy cheered while the lizard continued to roar.
"Come on, Owen, he only has one left. You can do this!" Brooklyn thought to herself while smiling and clapping for her boyfriend.
"Thanks for wearing him down, Blastoise." As Red took out his sixth and final Pokeball, he began to grin before looking up at Owen. "I have to say, I'm impressed," the World Champion said to Owen. "You and your Pokemon have pushed me and my Pokemon to our limits. Well done."
"Thanks, Red!" Owen shouted back to his opponent. "We're just getting started! Right, Charizard?"
"That's right!" Charizard proclaimed, making Red smile even more.
"I love the enthusiasm, but our battle ends here! Charizard, it's all up to you!" Red screamed while throwing his sixth Pokeball in the air.
In a blast of light that was quickly overwhelmed by fire, Red's Charizard appeared and roared. The winged lizard's picture then appeared on the scoreboard and occupied the sixth spot next to Red's picture, and he locked eyes with Owen's Charizard.
"Well well well, look at what we have here," Red's Charizard said in a mocking tone while looking at Owen's Charizard.
The younger of the two fire type's growled lowly while the older Charizard crossed his arms over his chest and shook his head.
"The fact that you're the last Pokemon is disgraceful. I wonder if the others were even trying?"
"Shut your mouth!" Charizard shouted at his opponent. "I'll make sure I wipe the floor with you, and then you'll have to respect me and my friends!"
The two fire types continued to argue, and the tension in the air only increased with each word. They stopped, however, when Red raised his hand to make his Charizard shut up.
"Charizard, stop. Be respectful, they're the real deal," Red informed his final Pokemon, who rolled his eyes in response. "Let's see just how strong your bond is, Owen. Charizard, Mega Evolve!" Red shouted while placing his hand over his Mega Bracelet.
Suddenly, the champion's Charizard was engulfed in a bright light, and he began to undergo physical changes. After the light flew off his body, Red's Charizard roared powerfully in his Mega X form, but Owen and Charizard weren't impressed.
"If it's a Mega Battle you want, it's a Mega Battle you'll get! Charizard, you know what to do."
Charizard nodded, and he closed his eyes just like Owen had. The two then placed their hands over both Mega Stones in their possession, and the crowd remained silent. As hush whispers of doubt began to creep across the stadium, they were silenced by Charizard roaring. Suddenly, the winged lizard was engulfed in spiraling light that was blue and red, and he began to roar.
Slowly, Charizard's skin began to turn black while other parts remained orange, and the audience looked on in awe. The black portions of his body - the top of his head, arms, and the insides of his wings - were complimented by crimson fire being emitted from the three spikes on his head, and his wings also took on the shape they were when he was in his X form. To top it off, there were also red flames shooting out of his mouth.
"This battle will be between Mega Charizard Fusion vs Mega Charizard X! Begin!"
So, it all comes down to Charizard versus Charizard in the final battle of the series. Hopefully it's the best chapter I'll write, and who knows? Maybe Owen will finally win? Till next time, peace out.
Next Chapter: "Mega Fusion vs Mega X!"
Owen and Red's battle comes to an epic end as both trainers refuse to lose. With both Pokemon in their ultimate forms, will Owen and Charizard be able to defeat the World Champion?
