Chapter 1: Rescue

Rorik POV

A wise man once said, "War, war never changes."

Whether it be between two nations, or two mythical forces. All that is wanted from either side is for the other to die. Always the same ending, death. Death, sadness and the lives of good men and women lost.

So there he was, on the ground atop Half-Blood Hill. Defeated and seconds from death, with a gash in his side bleeding severely and a hellhound bounding up the hill hellbent on ending his existence in the world. Although Rorik suspected that if all of this monsters and myths stuff was real there would be an afterlife. As the hellhound approached it seemed to slow down as if to revel in the pride of catching the demigod. Step by step the beast neared Rorik could swear that he could see a mixture of pride and evil as if it was pondering how to kill him.

"Well, I had a good enough run" said Rorik under his breath. In the past months he had been hunted, assaulted, stabbed at, shot at , even had a tractor thrown at him by a giant. But then the strangest thing happened. The blow didn't come. Where was the pain and blackness ? Right as the the hellhound brought its giant clawed paw to swing at him a girl had tackled the devil dog and stabbed in the neck with her dagger, turning it to gold dust. Then he passed out from blood loss feeling that he was finally going to have peace.

Rorik awoke in a cold sweat on a cot in a strange tent. He shot up in alarm but was forced back down by a immense pain all across his chest. After trying to sit up 4 more times to no avail he finally stopped trying. Not until she spoke up did Rorik realize there was someone else in the room.

"Good, you finally stopped. If you had kept going you would have pulled out your stitches" she said. It was the girl who had tackled the hellhound. She was average height, looked the same age, had long blond hair with brilliant blue eyes, was very fit and was wearing jeans and a orange T-shirt that said Camp Half-Blood on it. She also wore a necklace with 6 beads on it.

"Who are you and why are you here ?" He said

"Nice to see you to" said the girl

" That wasn't an answer" Rorik replied venomously.

"And that wasn't a very nice way to thank the person who saved your life" The girl retorted with a smug look on her face

"At least tell me your name" said Rorik in a calmer tone

"My name is Erin. Daughter of Apollo" she said , dropping her sarcastic tone

" And back to the question at hand, where am I ?"

"You are in the Camp Half-Blood medical treatment facility " Erin said with a flamboyant hand gesture to the rest of the tent

"Seriously ? I can't believe I made it." Rorik said with a sigh of relief. Erin gave him a curious look so he explained. " When I was 9 my mom told me that my father was a god. She never told me who it was. Actually, aside from the fact that he was a god, the only thing she ever told me was that monsters would hunt me. Eventually the attacks got to be too much. Monsters attacked every 3-4 days and we couldn't get away like usual. So, a little over 6 months ago I set off from home try to get here. She told me that this was a safe haven. And now I'm here"

"You really spent six months out there ?" Erin asked.

"Yeah. But what matters now is this" Rorik said, motioning to his chest.

" Here let me check" Erin said as she removed the bandages from his chest. Revealing a massive three lined cut across Rorik's chest from his left shoulder to his right hip.

"Ahh ! Be a bit more careful, it still hurts"

"Don't worry, It will hurt less overtime. Though you're gonna have one hell of a scar for the rest of your life"

"I can live with that" he said . Erin applied some antibiotics to prevent infection. Then put on some new bandages and left Rorik to rest a little.

"I'll go tell Mitch you're ok. He'll be in here in a little bit to check you cuts" Erin said as she left.

"Hey, Erin !" Rorik called right as she was walking out. "Thank you for ya know, saving my life". She looked back and smiled then left.

Erin POV

As Erin walked out of the huge tent she thought of Rorik and how she had saved him. She had only been in the right place at the right time to see the hellhound approach him. She was glad she saved him.. Erin chuckled a little when she recalled how she had yell for another camper to help carry an unconscious Rorik down to the medical tent. Which was no easy task seeing how he was built like a tank. Although this tank is a muscular , 5'11 foot tall tank that weighed about 160 pounds with wavy brown hair that went down to the middle of his neck. He seemed nice. He'd get by just fine at camp as long as he wasn't in the Aphrodite cabin. She didn't get what was with those girls. They weren't as bad as they used to be. They cabin counselor Lucy Grace, Piper and Jason's daughter, could control them most of the time. But there were occasionally huge fights caused by the aphrodite kids charming other campers. It was a nightmare when that happened. Though Erin didn't think Rorik was a child of Aphrodite. She couldn't exactly place him. He seemed nice and she could wait to find out.

Rorik POV

Rorik watched as Erin left the room. As she left Rorik realized he hadn't thanked. He called after and thanked her. She looked back, smiled and left. After she was gone Rorik began to think on his situation. It had been one hell of a day. He had finally made to safety, almost died, earned a massive scar and met a someone who hoped he could befriend. Erin seemed funny, nice and kind. Soon after Mitch , another Apollo kid, came in to check his stitches and bandages Rorik dozed off into a very well earned sleep. He had made.
