A/N: Wow, it's been ridiculously long since I updated. I just haven't had time since second semester started. But on the plus side, I have finally started posting The Dark Tower. Please be sure to check it out! I've turned it into a short story format. Anywho, it's been a while since I've updated and I've only been putting up angst ones. Sorry about that, I have some ideas in mind so hopefully I'll update sooner now. By the way, can you believe its been a year since I started this drabble series? Also, my four year writing aniversary just passed, so yay, congradulations Kiki!
Angst 10: No More
"Get out." Arthur hissed, his voice ringing with a sense of finality. Merlin bit his lip to keep his eyes from betraying his emotions and bowed to his friend. He stormed out of Arthur's chambers blindly, ignoring the angry tears that blurred his vision, and ran out of the castle, out the city walls, and deep into the Dark Forest.
There was so much –so much– anger deep inside of him, all bubbling up at once like pent up steam in a kettle pot, threatening the explode in the form of the bile rising up his throat. He swallowed hard to keep his anger in his gut as he ran without heed. His face was scratched by stray branches in his path and he stumbled more than once. But he never gave his legs a break and pushed his body relentlessly. He had to get away. He just had to get away from Camelot, even if only for a day….Merlin couldn't take it anymore.
It wasn't until he reached Freya's lake that he allowed himself to collapse. He wanted breathe, really he did, but when the sobs just burst out his mouth, his lungs burned with need while his body was in denial. Merlin roared into to the skies and clawed at his skin. His magic was fighting him, fighting to break out and just be free for once.
"No more…please…just no more," He croaked and finally gave into his magic. It poured out of him like a tsunami and ebbed out into the sky in insurgent waves, leaving no cloud untouched by his power. He watched with sick delight as a storm turned pitch around him and thundered crackled abnormally loud. Before he knew it, a thunderstorm danced over Freya's lake and torrents of rain poured down hard enough to obscure the view more than twenty feet in front him.
And then, Merlin laughed—laughed for the fear of his own powers and for the fear of his own emotions. He laughed because just for one blissful moment—he felt free.
Kinda short I know. I know I've said this before, but we've all waited for that huge magical BAMF moment in Merlin that never really came. I wanted to take a shot at it. Also, wanna know where I got the inspiration for this drabble? It's kinda a silly...I saw the words "No more" written on a stall in the girls bathroom at school and I just had to write about. Makes me wonder who actually wrote it and why? Cool huh?
