I'm standing with an army
Piper woke up quite early today. There's a lingering butterfly in her stomach and sleepless thoughts the night before. Today is quite unfamiliar unlike the days ago and sure will be different from the days ahead. She was lost in her thoughts when the phone rings.
"Alex?"
"Hi, Pipes."
"Is everything okay?" There's a strange deepness on Alex's voice that made her worry.
"Yes. Don't worry. I just wasn't able to sleep last night." Alex responds.
"Cold feet?" Piper asks.
"I think so. I guess it happens huh."
"Yeah. It does. Are people there now?" Piper inquired as she heard noises in the background.
"Well yeah. They're starting to arrive."
"Well, I guess this it huh?"
"Yes, it is." They both smiled.
"You know you can still change your mind." Piper jokingly said in which she earned a laugh from the brunette.
"I think it's too late for that."
"Well yeah. No running, Alex."
"Haha."
Piper heard Alex's breath deeply.
"Relax, Al. Everything's going to be fine and besides, I'll be there. "
"I know."
"For always."
They both smiled as silence filled the air. They snapped back to reality when they heard someone called Alex in the background.
"Listen, they're calling for me now," Alex explained as people started to crowd her around.
"Sure. You can't be late today."
"I know. I'll see you there okay?"
"Haha. For sure."
"Alright. Love you."
"Love you too. See you at church."
Piper smiled. After all, this day is different.
It's Her wedding day.
Piper sat beside her window looking out with her morning coffee at hand. She checks the clock in her room concluding she still got a handful of hours before she's expected to be in the church. Her mind drifted off reminiscing about the time she had with Alex. Alex is always there.
She met Alex eight years ago at a dinner for their common friend. She couldn't deny the fact that when she saw her the first time, Piper was smitten. Alex is beautiful, the kind of mystery and adoration combined. It's the kind of meeting that Piper couldn't just pass by without introducing herself, and she did. Piper knew right away that she is meant for Alex and Alex knows the blonde is going to be special for her too.
From then on, Alex was there. She's there whenever Piper needs help on whatever. She's there for a flat tire, she's there for a ride home, she's there for an instant date, she's there for a word of encouragement and sarcasm. She has an explanation for jokes that Piper couldn't get right away. Alex is constant for Piper. She stays even for the fights and the breakups. She understands even when no one can, and Piper was amazed at everything that Alex had sacrificed. She's there for Piper as Alex usually mouthed "For Always" whenever Piper expresses gratitude for her efforts and presence.
Fast forward to now, it's now Piper's turn to give the "For Always" a true meaning for Alex. She gets ready to head to the church. This day will be different from the all the days in her lifetime.
It's Her wedding day.
Piper is standing near the altar waiting for the bride. Everyone seems to be eagerly waiting and excited as they hear the cue for Alex's entrance. Before she knows it, Alex's form is seen at the entrance. As she started walking, Piper was lost for words. She's enchanting. Her wedding dress is simple yet hugging every curve. Her usual loose black long hair is in a beautiful bun and her glasses are traded for contacts. Her makeup is done beautifully that made her stand out from everybody else. Piper is somewhat jealous. She never saw Alex as beautiful as today.
Alex slowly walks down the aisle as a smile forms in her lips as she saw Piper waiting. The moment is as magical as they always see it coming. Piper was brought back from the moment she first laid her eyes on Alex. She knew right there and then that Alex is the one.
Piper felt her nerves as Alex slowly approaches her. They gaze at each other eyes as Piper felt her eyes gathered tears at bay. She swallowed the lump that started to form on her throat and takes all the courage to compose herself. Alex stops in front of her for a brief moment and smiles, not quite reaching her eyes.
Piper's gaze never left her form even after she started walking past her.
Alex slowly approaches the woman she'll promise to build a life with for the rest of her life, waiting in front of Piper. They both reached the front of the altar together to seal a promise to love each other for whole eternity.
Alex turns back slightly to look for Piper as she mouthed the words "For Always" at her. Piper smiles and nods as she gives Alex Vause away.
Piper smiles bittersweet, as she'll keep her promise to be her best friend, to love her and be there for her even if they didn't end up together. Piper smiles, after all.
It's Her wedding day... Alex's wedding day.
